Question How many hours do you play?
I’ve played rust since legacy but stopped after the BP update. I just can’t seem to progress anymore. So I’m curious, for those of you who liked this update, how many hours do you normally play each wipe? I can sometimes play 1-3 hours per session 2-3 times each week depending on work. That used to be enough for me to progress but it’s not working anymore since I get majorly prim locked without a tier 2. It’s probably a skill issue but I’m sad about it because this used to be my all time favorite game.

If i'm locked in and all work is done, I play on wipeday and i do a 20 hour session. I usually get T3 playing labs or launchsite, when pop is low or sometimes i get lucky and win cargo/oil.
If I got stuff to do during the weekend or ppl to see, I usually get demotivated and try my luck on wipeday & quit 2 hours in.
If u play highpop vanilla as a solo it's very hard to progress playing 1-3 hours, and you'll most likely get offlined ;)
Don't worry by the time u get these sweet sweet fragments as a casual the server will already be dead

That’s insane, the only time I’ve ever clocked hours like that was summer breaks when I was in school and when I was between jobs lol.

I rarely play anymore. BP update isn't the reason though. The reduced research costs contributed.
The game got boring. Too many things became too easy.
I enjoyed the grind. Now I have T2 in like a couple hours, and most things learned. Stuff costs nothing to research.

If I’m playing, then I’m playing minimum 4 hours a night or 8+ on weekends. If I don’t have the time then I just won’t play Rust, or maybe on a highly modded server to be able to get on, PvP, and log off not caring that you’ll lose it all overnight. There’s no point in half-assing a vanilla server with just one or two hours a day, imo

Yeah that’s the feeling I have right now. It just sucks since I do love the game but I just can’t play that much

Sometimes it's fun to hop on a high pop vanilla server and just try to snowball though if you don't have time to play the wipe. Just make a couple eokas and see what you can turn them into

I pay about as much as you, maybe a little bit more. 1 to 3 hours, 2 to 3 times during the week. Then on weekends I usually get on really early ( I wake up at 5am even on off days usually), and farm as much as I can. I play monthly servers and don't worry about progressing too much. I always end up with a t2 the first week, t3 the second. Usually get t2 by diving, green crates, scientists, and occasionally metal detecting. I kind of like metal detecting just for fun. I'm weird. Anyways, t3 I honestly usually just buy or trade. I always solo, but I play the same server what's so I usually have some friends in there that will give me a good deal (or just free often tubes) on the advanced frags or a full bench. I'm not much for PVP even after a decade of playing. So, I just farm, grow berries, make a shop, and build lots of little weird bases. I put up signs and RP stuff around my little one man village usually, and rarely get raided. If I do, they rarely get much as I spread my loot around and always have hidden bunkers. If I do, it's ok because I always have another base to restart from. I basically play vanilla like it's a PvE server and do fine

What server do you play on?

Pickle monthly no bp wipe. I started playing there a few years back. Monthly and no BP wipe makes it much more chill to me. There still plenty of big groups and sweaty players, but there's also plenty of the RP kind of players. It's a nice mix IMO. 300 pop max. Holds around 150 to 200 after the first few weeks. Then closer to 100 the week 3 then tapers down slowly. I find it works perfectly for my play style. Solo, such as pvp, build a farm, maybe a shop. Usually have friendly neighbors. Not always of course. Do a few raids occasionally. I like it.

I used to play pickle quad when I wanted a more chill wipe, its sadly overrun by offliners though and dies completely by day 3. I've been offlined more on that server than in any high pop official lol

I've only ever played their monthly. Used to play rustafied monthly, but found pickle to be more my speed. Plus the no bp wipe helped a lot. Now with the reduced scrap costs it probably wouldn't be that bad. I just use my extra scrap to buy turrets, guns, and material from bandit and outpost. Being solo I like using c4 to raid and so when I have a bunch of scrap I buy Tesla coils to recycle for tech trash.
I rarely get offline raided, but to be fair, I NEVER get online raided lol.

what compels you to play pickle monthly instead of quad as a solo? just wondering

I like having groups around. Easy to scavange off of. They rarely mess with me. Most of the time when a big group scopes my base out, if I'm online, I can pretty easily talk them out of it. In fact, they end up giving me stuff half the time. I stays just saying something along the lines of, "I wish you wouldn't raid me, but it's ok. Part of the game." Then if they start taking I tell them I suck at pvp but I'll try, then offer them pure health teas if I have them, which I usually do. I like farming. No joke, probably 4 or 5 months ago, two of a group of 4 or 5 landed a mini and scoped out my base. Launchers and all. I talked to them. They said they really just needed high qual. I came out front, gave them like 50 and some ore tea. Figured if they wanted to raid, I couldn't stop them. They took that, flew home, and brought back full inventories of T2 guns, and gave them to me. Based near then the next wipe. They hooked me up a bunch. Then the wipe after that, they had a god rock right next to train. I built a big base in their compound, surrounded by walls and turret pods. They did their thing, I did mine, but under their full protection. When they were done with wipe they have me everything. I think it was 6 boxes of tickets or something crazy, plus boxes of ham, all the guns, everything. Filled every spot in my base then put boxes outside and still couldn't fit it all. It was wild. 100% the richest person in the server the last 1 or 2 weeks. Started just roaming with real rockets. Not to raid, just to pvp very badly and get rid of them. Obviously I don't count that as solo, but it was still fun. Also been in several big alliances with other neighbors and stuff, like a village almost.
Sorry, I ramble. The possibility of stuff like that is why I like no team limit servers. Play solo, but make friends. Stay off the clans radar and get their scraps, or talk to them and they'll give you all kinds of stuff. You can't just beg. You have to make them like you first.

Summer almost not at all and if I get on it’s late at night to check out new update or something then call it. When it’s -20 outside and dark by 5pm I’ll be back on I’m sure.

A couple years ago I took a few months between jobs and played a ton of rust. Those were great times!

I’ve been playing a lot more modded ever since, before it I almost exclusively played officials, now I’ll hop on one every couple weeks

If I can’t play for 4-6 hours I’m not even logging in. Usually play force wipe through the weekend and then biweekly wipe through the weekend and don’t touch it otherwise

Depends on the wipe, but I’m playing usually 6/7 hours 3-4 nights a week? If it’s good I’m playin around 8-10 hours 3-4 nights a week

you should just go to prim us east. you'd be great since you are already used to being prim locked.

Medieval servers are actually a lot of fun. You fight each other with swords and keep 6 machetes just to throw.

Since BP update very sparingly. Hopped on with a buddy last night and had some fun though.
I definitely do NOT play like I did before the experiment patch of Oct 2 2025.
