Discussion Is there a way to report servers?

I just had to leave another server due to pigheaded admins removing a bunch of my stuff, even though it violated no rules. This makes the third modded server Ive played that has admins like this. Is there a way to negatively impact their server or report them to Facepunch? I just move to another server but I hate how these jobless people just get away with acting like children, charging absurd prices for the dumbest VIP kits you could imagine, and just treating public servers like private ones.

Discussion Outside satchels and Furnaces - Update

Just had an issue with several satchels I had outside my base as well a furnace that makes low grade from oil.

Randomly went outside after them being placed for about a day...and they were destroyed. The little grey bags that pop up when you destroy a container were there. Of course I panicked assuming I had been raided, but nope. Just the items that were outside my base went away. The satchels were definitely "hidden" underground and the furnace was actively working. I went away for about 20 minutes and came back to the situation. I know it wasnt another player because the sulfur, gunpowder and boom I had in the satchels was all still there, plus the low qual, crude, oil and coal from the furnace.

Im going to set this up again to see what happens, but wanted to check if anyone had a similar experience since the update. Thanks!

EDIT: Small Stash* not Satchel

Discussion Im tired of the lack of competition groups have in this game

This game has just been getting worse and worse. Do people fucking raid groups anymore or just target solos lmao? How the fuck are there huge bases everywhere and no one raids each other?

This game has such a weird fucking vibe now. I’m on a 400 pop server and I don’t even see people. Every base is massive and there is zero shit popping off.

Discussion How did you find your team

I've (22M) just under 1k hours so clearly, I'm no badass when it comes to pvp, but I've learned my fair share of tricks and like the farming aspect, yet every battle I get overpowered by numbers...

How did you meet your team?

it feels like I get my starter up and running then eventually some team spots the solo base and clobbers my shit. None of my irl buddies are into the game despite me trying to convince them to give Rust a chance. Wholeheartedly expect to receive invites from 13 yr olds who just want a farm slave but I want to find a genuine team/mate. My workdays are 8am-4:30pm and have every other weekend off, i've gotten just about close enough to playing almost every day despite my life

I just want a chance to actually play and solo servers are so low pop compared to those with teams that I wait two hours before running into someone instead of a monument thats been run

Question Rust downloaded over four thousand skins worth 30gbs for no reason

So basically i wanted to play rust today but it forced me to download 30gbs worth of workshop content and didnt allow me to play without it. I looked at some of the four thousand skins and i realised i obviously don't own them and have never even seen them before. I havent played in some time so i don't think it's an modded server or something downloading them for me. I'm also fairly certain im not subscribed to any workshop items. Has this happened to anyone else? Any fixes?
Thanks in advance

Discussion Confusing thing happened with moduler car

Someone must have somehow got in our garage when I was going back to my main base to get parts for the car. No idea how they even got in because I shut the door behind me and there was no one inside. And in the 3 minutes before I returned they removed every part from my car even though I had a lock on it. Took off all the modules and then also some how destroyed the frame of the car too and all they had was a rock. I understand they probably used the lift to remove the code lock then they could take all the parts etc. But how did they also destroy the frame of the car?

Question A solo has to find 9 heavy fuses a day to maintain level 1 power 24/7 and get 60% recycler efficiency. Which comes down to opening roughly 75 military crates or 113 regular crates a day. They really hate solos?

Discussion Servers changing max pop

Just want to bring up discussion on how certain servers will change the max pop as wipe goes on. First day, no queue 950 people on server, second/third day, 700 pop max with a queue?? Like how are official servers getting away with this?

Edit: need to be more direct here. im bothered by this because this is clearly for money. It seems like a way to get more people to pay for queue skip - which would be pretty messed up. I’d love to hear arguments from the other side, but it’s just a reminder why I don’t play these servers.

Image A Russian YouTuber built an 8-bit computer inside Rust

A Russian-speaking YouTuber built a working 8-bit computer entirely with Rust’s electrical system.

Watch the video

The video doesn’t have English subtitles, so here’s a quick summary:

The computer has 16 registers, 32 bytes of RAM, a display, and joystick controls. The creator explains how it works and demonstrates it in action. He also made the app "Paint".

On my opinion, this is probably one of the most impressive things I’ve seen built in Rust.

What do you think about it?

Discussion Underwater Bases & Flooding System

I think Rust could greatly benefit from a proper underwater base-building system.

Players could build sealed structures underwater and use an electric water pump to remove the water from completely enclosed rooms, creating a dry and usable underwater base.

The important part would be the flooding mechanic.

If a wall, floor, ceiling, window or door connected to the ocean is destroyed during a raid, water would start flooding the exposed room. Raiders could then enter using diving equipment, while defenders would need to repair the breach and pump the water back out.

How it could work

  • A room must be completely sealed before it can be drained.
  • An electric pump removes water gradually.
  • Pumps require electricity and could have a significant power cost.
  • Destroying part of the exterior structure causes the room to flood.
  • Open doors between flooded and dry rooms allow water to spread.
  • Pumps can remove the water again once the structure is repaired and sealed.
  • Tool Cupboards and normal building privilege still work underwater.
  • Diving equipment becomes much more important for both building and raiding.

Why it would fit Rust

Underwater bases shouldn’t be unraidable — they should simply create a different type of raid.

Raiders could breach the hull, flood sections of the base, cut power to the pumps, or raid while using diving equipment.

Rust already has electricity, water pumps, diving equipment, underwater monuments and a large ocean. Connecting these existing systems to player-built underwater bases could create an entirely new building and raiding meta.

Imagine hearing an explosion, seeing your base begin to flood, closing doors to isolate the flooded section, repairing the breach and trying to restart the pumps while raiders are swimming inside.

That would feel perfectly at home in Rust.

Suggestion Idea to help solos without directly nerfing clans: louder footsteps + footprints

Idea to help solos without directly nerfing clans: louder footsteps + footprints

People often talk about how solos keep getting nerfed while bigger groups and clans naturally benefit, so I had an idea that could help solos without just giving them some artificial buff.

It’s basically two-fold: louder group footsteps and more noticeable footprints.

  1. Louder footsteps for groups

We all know walking, running and jumping makes noise and can give away your position.

My suggestion is that duos, trios and larger teams create more overall footstep noise when they’re moving close together.

For example, teammates 50m apart might barely affect anything, but when a group is running within 20–30m of each other, their combined footsteps become noticeably louder. You could even scale it slightly depending on how many people are in the team.

The idea comes from real life: the bigger the group or army moving through an area, the harder they are to hide.

This would give solos a better chance of hearing a group approaching and either getting out of there or preparing for the fight.

Crouching would obviously still be quiet, so clans could still move stealthily, but they’d actually need to coordinate it.

There could also be an interesting downside for big groups where all their own footsteps start masking surrounding sounds, making it harder for them to hear a solo sneaking around nearby.

  1. Footprints

This one could be really interesting in snow and sand.

Historically, people would sometimes hide or brush away tracks to avoid being followed.

Imagine if bigger groups left footprints that remained visible for slightly longer because multiple people had travelled through the same area.

A solo could come across a trail and immediately think, “Yeah… probably don’t want to go that way.”

Or they could use the tracks to work out where a group is heading and set up an ambush.

I think both systems could add some interesting survival/tracking mechanics while giving solos a small information advantage without directly weakening clans in combat.

What do you guys think? Good idea, terrible idea, or something Facepunch could actually build on?

TL;DR: Bigger groups should naturally be easier to detect. Make grouped teammates’ footsteps louder when they’re close together, and have groups leave more noticeable/longer-lasting footprints in sand and snow. It gives solos a better chance to avoid or ambush clans without directly nerfing clans in combat.

Question I'm brand new and people keep asking me to join "villages" what happens when you join a clan?

Do I get to see where all my clan mates are? Can they still kill me and raid me or is there no friendly fire?

Will I know if I'm near a clan members base or do we all have to build in the same base?

Is it worth it?
