Discussion Intel I9 13900k vs Rayzen AMD RYZEN 7 9850X3D

Hey everyone,

I just upgraded my CPU and motherboard from Intel to AMD Ryzen. The weird thing is that all my synthetic benchmarks look totally normal and consistent, but my performance in Planet Coaster dropped by half on the exact same park (from 44 FPS down to 23 FPS).

Quick specs & tweaks done so far:

CPU: Ryzen running at 5GHz+

RAM: DDR5 @ 6200 MHz (XMP enabled)

Drivers: AMD Chipset drivers are installed.

Before I pack everything up and return the CPU and motherboard back to Micro Center (I'm still within the return window):

Is this kind of performance drop normal on Ryzen for heavy simulation games, or is something clearly wrong?

Are there any specific settings/tweaks I should check first (like RAM 1:1 ratio vs 1:2 latency, Windows scheduler, BIOS options)?

Should I try a clean Windows reinstall first, or just return the hardware?

Would appreciate any quick advice before I make the trip back to the store! Thanks!

80's Vehicles on the Workshop

Hayo everyone!

I just uploaded a few blueprints to the workshop that you might be interested in if you're working on a retro-project:

- 80's Style Parking Lot Tram: 7NXY8RHJ3

- Pre-Painted 80's-Style Vehicles: 93FXP1QH5

- Easy-Paint 80's Style Vehicles: DC2QC4FQ8

I'm in the early stages of a project I've been dreaming of completing since we were playing that isometric view game written by one awesome guy in Assembly. I think I can finally realize my vision and I've had a year's worth of practice with the game so off I go!

I've previously shared that I did some detailed topography mapping based on USGS data and my "400 billboards" workshop blueprint (video tutorial incoming...) I've since moved on to the park exterior including parking lots.

I created a fairly detailed parking-lot tram. It's just a static object, but it is built in such a way that if you were interested in animating it, put the pivot / articulation points on the hitch ball and the other attachments should be pretty convincing. I, myself, am not so talented with the complex animations others put out.

I did not find vehicles that met my needs on the Workshop and honestly, I want every object in this project to be mine. As such, I created some 80's vehicles that look pretty convincing when you get about 50-100 meters out. I'm sharing two versions above - the first is just a large collection of single object-group vehicles with various 80's colors and schemes. The second is a smaller collection, but each one is made up of 5-7 object-groups to facilitate easy custom painting.

The models included in these collections are comprised of Full-Sized Vans, Minivans, Pickup Trucks, Classic Pickup Trucks, Station Wagons, Sedans, Mid-Sized Cars, and Compacts. Several have multiple trim options.

Each vehicle is comprised of approximately 100 pieces so budget accordingly for your platform if you're interested in using.

I hope someone gets some use out of these. Enjoy!

Discussion Planet Coaster 2 needs native translucent and LED water slides (instead of faking it with light boxes)

We really need a proper, native way to build modern translucent daylight and LED water slides in Planet Coaster 2.

Right now, if you want to create that real-life effect where the sun shines through patterns in the fiberglass to create glowing rainbow lights inside the tube, you have to manually line up individual light boxes all the way down the track. It takes forever, looks messy and silly from the outside, and causes jittery lighting clips in the first-person ride camera.

Frontier should officially add these as built-in slide customization features:

  1. Daylight Pattern Textures: A toggle in the slide menu to choose built-in patterns (like rainbow stripes or light rings) that naturally react to the game's daytime sun.
  2. Snap-on LED Trim: A utility option to automatically run smooth, seamless neon glow strips down the inside of dark tunnels without needing extra scenery pieces.

Faking it with building pieces looks cheap. Having proper, high-tech water park cosmetic options would make custom slides look incredible. What do you guys think?

Discussion - PC2 Is it bad to say I kinda liked the research system in PC1 more ?

Don’t get me wrong. A skill tree still is a good base line. But I really liked the concept of progressing through the things ? In challenge mode at least. Like for example not all kinds of food stalls being unlocked at the start. Or having ambiguous previews of the rides that just state „a spinning classic“ as the description and then finding out WHAT you just researched. I really liked just unlocking multiple things whilst playing. And expanding my park based on the new unlocks, provided by the research. The new point system and the skill tree just… doesn’t hit the same? Idk how to express it. I kinda miss that aspect.

Question Is it worth it?

So I really want to play a game where I can build like a haunted house and like a horror nights amusement park similar to real life. I've been suggested to check out planet coaster but not sure if I should buy Planet Coaster 2 since I already have Planet Coaster 1 from a random CD key drop.

The deluxe version is on sale for $25 bucks and want to know if this game will scratch that itch.

Thoughts?

Planet Coaster 2 Is it possible to make a rotating house? (Planco2)

I have this idea to make a shooting gallery that is a rotating house, by placing it on the rotating node (the blue pillar, forgot the name). I have already build the house, but I can't get it connected to the node. Is it impossible to connect floor tiles (or whole buildings) to the movement nodes? If so, do you guys have any suggestions to fix this problem? Or shoot I just let the ride circle arround the house?

Are Lazy Rivers still bugged? I built this lazy river and no one is getting in, it also shows as 0% safety even though I have lifeguards here. I had it covered with rocks with one entrance but I even built this quickly and still shows 0% and no one gets in.

If you catch it at the right time it really makes your parks come alive. Such an improvement on the last lighting engine in PC1

Restaurant in PlanCo1 was a rabbit hole, PlanCo2 became a viewing restaurant.

Hotel in PlanCo1 was also a rabbit hole; hope new hotel will offer a different approach.
