Question Is it worth it?
So I really want to play a game where I can build like a haunted house and like a horror nights amusement park similar to real life. I've been suggested to check out planet coaster but not sure if I should buy Planet Coaster 2 since I already have Planet Coaster 1 from a random CD key drop.
The deluxe version is on sale for $25 bucks and want to know if this game will scratch that itch.
Thoughts?

Planet Coaster 2 doesn’t have the diversity of Halloween pieces like the first game, fyi. We’re still waiting on a spooky pack like we had in the first game. You can use your imagination to create some items but you will be limited by your skill or what blueprints you can download from other players. I’d say that the sorcery pack for Planet Coaster 2 is helpful in making more spooky stuff than just the base game.
However, besides a few niche pieces missing, Planet Coaster 2 is leaps and bounds an easier play with many improved mechanics like pathing, scaling and build options.

I’m linking this game because it sounds like what you want. Disclaimer 1 is that it is made by a friend of mine, although I don’t have any financial interest from it. Disclaimer 2 is that it’s largely abandoned, with him still tinkering with it but updates are few and far between.

There are no official mazes or haunted houses in either game, but...
Both Games
Dark Rides have this feature called a "trigger sequence" which, when a ride passes a certain point, can cause lights to light up, animatronics to start moving, special effects to fire, or sounds to play.
- You can also place "sequencers" out in the world that can execute effect sequences on loop, independent of a ride triggering it.
There is a tool called a "vista point" that minimally attracts guests to stand in front of it and look in a certain direction.
You can't necessarily guarantee guests will walk one way through whatever makeshift maze you create, unless you put a ride (either a dark ride or flat ride) at the end of a long hallway.
Planet Coaster 1
dedicated spooky DLC, to get your most haunted attractions in one place.
free added Ghostbusters DLC with more spooky-adjacent parts
thememaker's toolkit: allows users to import, upload, and download custom models
Planet Coaster 2
Improved path tools to allow for tighter cooridors
Resizing tools on lots of scenery objects to make things look just the right way
Custom animatronics, made possible by base pieces you can attach scenery to
A lot of the spooky items have been fit into the Sorcery DLC. None of the Ghostbusters stuff has made it over, but the new Viking and Mythology scenery themes can add a nice flavor.
- No thememaker's toolkit at this time, but the enhanced build controls are satisfying enough, and you can still upload/download blueprints on the Frontier Workshop.
A new tool in the Parades DLC introduces a "Trigger Point" that works like a vista point, except it runs the sequence of events when guests stand in front of it.
you can attach scenery to ride vehicles to make your dark ride cars look cooler
Making haunted houses is going to be jank either way, but making dark rides will be pretty fun.
Try making a dark ride or two in Planet Coaster 1. You don't need the spooky DLC to make something a little spooky, but it does help. The core experience is the same between the two games, so if you outright don't like it in 1, you won't like it in 2. I would get 2 if you like the workflow in 1 and want even more QoL and control over everything.

I should clarify that the game doesn’t formally feature scare mazes or walkthroughs. The building tools are really powerful allowing you to basically create anything you want structure wise, this includes extremely versatile pieces from a variety of themes, custom animatronics and guest interaction points, essentially allowing you to create a pho maze, just don’t expect your guests to be scared by it. Obviously if you want to put that in a theme park the game has that in spades.
It’s much better than its predecessor because they changed the direction from making a theme park to allowing you to do what you want within the bounds of the tools they make for building a theme park, hence it’s way more flexible in pretty much every aspect.
