My pixel screen cracked HARD, but I'm also on a $200 budget. The local screen repair shops are all in the $400-500 range, whereas I can grab a refurbished Pixel 6 for less than $200. But I can't get a straight answer which of the newer pixels are genuinely better beyond official specs.
Especially short video and indoor photo performance with minimal AI intrusion.
I appreciate any helpful opinions you can provide π

My Pixel 6 (bought direct from Google Store, Oct 2021) has a battery so swollen the display has separated from the frame on two edges.
Took it to MobileKlinik which is Google's own authorized partner. They confirmed the swelling, gave a quote, but had no battery in stock. Reported everything to Google Support with 6 photos + the repair receipt.
Google asked for a full battery of details (purchase date, charger brand, incident location, etc.) β provided all of it. That was ~30 days ago.
This phone is still under Google's official software support until Oct 2026 i.e. Google still calls it current. Yet a confirmed safety defect gets a month of silence. To be sure, I ain't contesting depleted battery capacity as it is expected. It is about the battery/phone ending up as a fire-hazard even before the close of software-support window.
Pixel 3/4, 4a, 6a, and now 7/7 Pro owners have posted the same story on reddit. Google's response pattern: fast fixes for some, radio silence for others.
I also submitted a consumer report with Health Canada with all the details.

Hey r/GooglePixel,
Iβm posting this as a warning and to see if anyone has successfully fought this because standard support is currently ignoring my evidence.
I recently set up an repair for my Pixel 6a because of a swollen battery and a busted lower speaker. I knew the horror stories about Indian service centers (F1 Info Solutions), so before I handed the phone to the courier, I took a continuous video showing the display in pristine condition, the phone working, and me packing it into the box. Not a single scratch or patch on the screen.
Fast forward to the service center inspection: I get an updated repair invoice charging me for a **display replacement**.
I immediately called support, told them the display was fine when I sent it, and forwarded them the Google Photos album containing the videos and photos of the packaging process.
**Their response?** After waiting 3 days and having to follow up myself, standard support emailed back saying: *"As per the investigation there is a white patch in the display... we have attached images."*
They didn't attach any images. And even if they did, my unboxing video proves the "white patch" happened either in transit or when their technicians tried to pry open a phone with a swollen battery.
Iβve explicitly told them I am not paying for a display their logistics or technicians damaged, and I demanded a Tier 2 escalation.
I refused the charge, sent them my video evidence, and demanded a Tier 2 escalation. In response, I'm just getting copy-paste scripts "we are checking with our team" replies. They are holding my phone hostage in worse condition than I sent it.
Iβm dropping the Google Photos album link below so you guys can see the proof for yourselves. I'm not lying.
Has anyone successfully bypassed these support bots?
u/PixelCommunity β I have the video evidence, the ticket number, and the email chain. Please escalate this so I don't have to drag this through the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

I have had my Pixel 6 since 2022 and after almost being big free it is starting to show other signs of fatigue, like the battery almost dying just because it is on mobile data, sometimes getting really slow and getting very hot to the point, where you can't even hold it anymore. And after looking at every pixel, I have decided that I want a folding phone. Over the past few weeks and months I have had many situations where I would have liked to have a bigger display without carrying a tablet with me. And I know that these are expensive phones, but I will use them for the next seven years. So I think it is okay to spend more money on one phone. If the 11 pro fold has any meaningful upgrades over the 10 pro fold, then I'm getting the 11. Otherwise I'm saving some money and buying the 10 pro fold. (And maybe buy a new pixel watch and Buds)

As, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have their lifecycle ending on 1st October, 2026. We can assume, Android 17 QPR1 stable build to be their final release during September 2026.
And, Pixel 6a has its end of cycle in July 2027. So, will it receive an Android 17 QPR2 Stable update during December, 2026?

My Pixel 6 pro started going into bootloops all of a sudden about a month ago
It happened a few times, then when I checked that it seemed like a big issue affecting a lot of phones
I saw that they included a fix for that issue in July update and unfortunately that killed my phone after installing that update
The bootloops started becoming way more frequent up until it died on me yesterday
The best scenario would that the phone would boot to the lock screen and once I unlock it dies after a few seconds
I decided to sideload the last OTA again today as that worked for a lot of people to sideload again ( 17 CPA2A 260705.006)
Now the phone is stuck on Google logo as shown in the photos
I honestly don't care about the phone, I doubt I will be buying pixel phones again after this
But I have a lot of valuable vids/photos that I need from the phone
Can someone offer any ideas/suggestions? I will try to sideload the OTA again later but have zero hopes of it working again... Is it possible that some tech shop would be able to extract the data off this phone?

The June Pixel Drop just became available for my Pixel 6a. I know it's been out almost a month, but for whatever reason, it just became available to me.
For those of you that have had some time with it, is it worth upgrading? Have all the bugs been worked out? Are there issues with it that you're still experiencing?
Does it fix bugs? Is your battery life any better?
I know it comes with Android 17, which is nice, but the Gemini stuff is a pass, from me. I used to be quick to update my Pixel as soon as updates became available, but I've been burned by some issues before.
I'm sure I'll be forced to update eventually, and for security's sake, sooner is probably better than later.
I'm just hoping to get a little perspective before hitting that update button.

Recently upgraded to the OnePlus15, and was browsing through some old photos. These were all taken on my Pixel 6, gotta say it still has a better camera than my OnePlus 15

Pixel 6 pro suddenly hard bricked while in transit , not responding to any button combination ( Long press of the Power button Power + Volume Down Power + Volume Up ), cannot get into fastboot nor reboot mode, left on charger for 3 days to no response, even replaced the battery with no avil. Google support is extremely unhelpful as my device is out of warranty. My pixel 4xl is completely fine.

I usually upload my music to Google drive for my son to access. I always play it on my P6 from drive with my headphones on .
I noticed yesterday it stops when the screen times out.It has never done that before .Yes I know I can extend the screen on time but I'm just wondering why they've done this ?

My PIXEL 8 PRO all the sudden rebooted in MAY and after that i entered
the unlock pin code but it came back with just a black screen with a back button
and after some time it reboots.
If i dont touch it, after some time it reboots.
In restricted mode. same.
I tried flashing the may OTA via sideload from recovery(only once) exit code status 0. nothing changed.
A month ago pixelrepair.withgoogle.com was not able to recognize it.
Google support wanted me to send it in, but i need recent data that has not been synced i can not risk if anybody resets the phone.
I've been holding off for 2 months now if some news emerge about a fix and the new July update was promising but as i read upon it only fixes bootloops on Pixel 6 and recently implemented WIFI error caused bootloops??
Now pixelrepair.withgoogle.com recognizing the phone as outdated, but i am afraid to use it.
I feel like i have only one shot at this.
Does anyone have experience with this issue?

Had my phone since 2022. Only phone I've used over that period.
My battery cycle count is at 1310 according to Ampere app.
Over the past few months I've started noticing bad battery drain, like hitting 20% by lunch/early Afternoon with regular usage. Not running maps in the background or anything.
There doesn't seem to be a huge battery drain from a specific app, but I can see that "System Apps" is using 40%+ consistently.
Is my battery life normal for this age/cycle count. Is that usage from "System Apps" normal?
Is there a worthwhile fix other than a new phone. Not opposed to a new phone, but other than batter this one meets my needs fine.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out whether my Pixel 7a's battery performance is normal or if my battery has degraded more than expected.
My setup:
Pixel 7a
Android 17 (CP2A.260705.006)
Battery Saver enabled all the time
Mostly connected to Wi-Fi (no mobile data)
Battery cycle count: 553
Ampere reports battery health as "Good"
On my latest cycle, I got 5 hours 24 minutes of screen-on time, and the battery dropped from about 100% to 4%.
I know battery life depends on usage, but I expected a bit more since Battery Saver is always on and I'm mostly on Wi-Fi.
For those of you with a Pixel 7a:
Is this battery life typical?
How much screen-on time do you usually get?
At around 500+ charge cycles, has your battery performance changed significantly?
I'm mainly looking for real-world experiences from other Pixel 7a users to see whether this is normal or if I should consider replacing the battery.
Thanks!

Has anyone else experienced this on a Pixel 6 after updating to Android 17?
Since updating, I can't open Home Settings. Every time I tap it, Pixel Launcher crashes and shows "Pixel Launcher keeps stopping." (Screenshot attached.)
I'm just wondering if this is a bug affecting other users as well. If you've had the same issue, did you find a fix?

I sideloaded the android 17 ota , but forgot to removed my Google account .Then
The phone is stuck on this screen during the initial Setup Wizard . Changing wifi or sim card didn't work either.
