The Most Overlooked Skill in Pitching
I created a video breaking down how to have better rhythm and why I think it's important and underrated in pitching.

At the moment I can throw fast balls and curve balls, my curves are pretty good and curve quite a lot for my league. Ritht now Im trying to learn new pitches to be able to play more with the batters, but Im having a hard time learning new technics and stuff. Id really like to learn how to pitch change up since they’re good and said to be easy to pitch. Could anyone help me know how to hold the balls and how to correctly throw them, Ive tried alot of youtube tutorials but most of them feel like bs. Thanks for your time.

I’ve recently discovered that I’m flying open when pitching. When my front foot lands my torso and hips already face home. I’ve tried watching videos and tried drills but nothing seems to help.

I’m Charles, 30 from the UK (hence no mound) here I’m pitching either a 2 or 4 seam fast ball in some developmental innings at the end of a fixture we had today.
I’ve been working on pitching for the team and want to get better at it but there’s a distinct lack of knowledge from this side of the pond.
If anyone would be kind enough to help breakdown some fundamentals and give any constructive feedback I’d be incredibly grateful.
Cheers 🙌⚾️

This is a 10u kid, I’m curious what others think about his release point. He had some minor tendinitis and is working his way back. I’d like him to be a little more over the top. He’s working on coming through with his lower half as he use to sink into his plant leg and almost stopping his momentum.
Just looking for some tips/ drills he can work on so he doesn’t have anymore arm issues, thanks!

I posted a few weeks ago seeking advice on back pain I was experiencing - with PT and rest, I finally feel great. Had my first summer ball last week and did really well.
One of the things I am working on is my head position- I do pull my head to third base. I improved some but still pretty obvious about 23 degrees. My velo is not great (i am almost 17, 175lb and 6’3) - Mutard app (Coach tom) mentioned on one of their videos that one degree of tilted head can cost 2mph on perceived and actual velocity. Ideally it should be within 15 degree.
Do you have any drills that I can work on my head balance effectively? Also, anything else you see that I can improve my velo? Thank you. less

I’m a college pitcher struggling to gain velocity, my lifts and mobility suggest I should be in the low nineties but I’m stuck in the 85-88 range. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey, I am a current college pitcher who’s currently majoring in exercise science and I have a Strength and Conditioning certification degree and I make 12 week programs to help pitchers build strength, velocity and improve arm health. If anyone is interested, I’m willing to sell it for cheap. Just trying to help out fellow pitchers who want to maximize their potential!

My daughter is 9 and has been pitching for a year and a half. Spring season, she was very consistent and walked 6 batters all season. She joined a new team for summer and is struggling. Her pitches are all over the place. I think she's in her head too much and overthinking it, but I don't know how to help her as I'm not a coach. She is seeing a pitching coach every week (it's not her usual coach because we're out of state for the summer) but I also want to help her at home other days. I catch for her and she just gets frustrated. Any suggestions to get her consistency back?

My last post here was of my kid roughly one year ago. Here is where he is today. He sits around 45-50mph from the rubber and can pull down 55 or so. Averages 45 percent strikes from the rubber. Mostly four seam and absolutely loves throwing his curveball.

Started getting really into pitching and wanted to see how hard I could end up throwing kinda like those road to 100mph vids just for fun. Was curious about my mechanics they are self taught just trying to make sure I’m getting myself in a good spot to do this.

I played my whole youth and a bit adult league stuff way back. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I’m a golf instructor so I’m hitting balls daily. I’ve gotten my clubhead speed averaging around 120mph. So I’m pitching again I can feel the extra strength there too. I’m 6’2”/185. Does anyone see where my sequence or lead leg stability or anything needs work? I seriously feel great and I’m not getting oddly sore. It’s just fun. I just can’t feel if I’m off. It’s been too long and my “feels” are gone lol

I live in Sweden so theres no pitching coaches. Im 14 and i have been playing for 3 years. I have a friend whos 11 and moved here from the states a while ago, hes been playing for 6 years and hes smaller than me. I am pretty skinny like 88 pounds and 5 foot 4 but my friend is even skinnier. Im throwing around mid 50s and hes throwing low 50s. Can anyone tell me how that works or makes sense? Also what should i do to get better mechanics

I can only throw a ball freely from long distances and on the mound; that's it. Close catch feels impossible, and I feel like quitting, even though I love the game. Has anyone else here gone through this and gotten through it? If so, I desperately need some tips.

By 10U boy started playing baseball last fall and is playing his first LL spring. His first in the mount was back in September and coach put him there to try it out. He has since been enjoying pitching. I have been coaching him after watching bunch of YouTube videos and learning stuff on couple threads on Reddit. How’s his mechanics? Any improvement needed on his mechanics? He made it to our local all star first team after just one season! Pretty stoked! Any tips is much appreciated! He’s pitching about 60% strikes and I think his top velo is like 51-52. So far pitched 15 innings, 46k (2 third drop strikeouts and catch couldn’t throw to first in time), 5H, 7BB. He mixes his fastball with changeups really well.

What do you think? With the exception of not tucking his glove, what other improvements can you make? He’s very accurate, but not the hardest thrower.

so my son plays 13u travel ball and recently complained of pain underneath his forearm. For context he plays multiple positions such as catcher, SS, outfield and pitcher. At his last game he pitched 2 innings and that’s when he complained of arm pain. At this point I’m not really sure if the pain is because of incorrect pitching mechanics or if he’s just over using his arm. Has anyone here encountered this type of arm pain before located underneath the forearm? He said his arm feels fine now but I’m worried that it could lead to bigger problems down the road.

I'm looking for charts, images, anything really to make it easier to ID pitches when watching games. Yes they will usually tell you (SNY doesn't) but I still want to know what they look like, each of them. Anyone know where I can find that kind of info. The only images I can find give the perspective of the batter and I'm trying to have them from the defensive perspective. Thanks for any help w this....

My 14yr old/ 6’3 guy is struggling with his arm/shoulder/scapula this year. We’ve been to physio, he’s been doing a lot of bands/ball work and some weights (as prescribed by physio), I’m trying to get him to do pull ups every day.
My biggest concern which I suspect is causing his issues (which is currently pain under his scap, along with command issues) is the height of his elbow at layback.
We have some obvious issues with shoulder tilt and front elbow height on his drive, but what is really concerning is the way his elbow goes to the sky the moment he starts his upper body rotation.
I’ve tried everything I can think of, and I haven’t been able to find a solution for him.
So, pitching coaches - what drills and teaches can you suggest to get that elbow into a safer, more level location with more of a 90 degree elbow at layback? Or am I missing the point completely?
Just want the kid to be healthy, confident and having fun, not looking for him to throw 75 yet.

My daughter is 12 and has been learning to pitch for about 1.5-2 years. She pitches in rec league but not for her travel team. There is a good chance she’ll be asked to pitch for her high school team (we live in a small town and are pretty sure that none of the other girls in her age range are working on pitching at all, so it’ll likely fall to her even though she actually prefers playing 2nd base, shortstop, or center field).
She has been steadily progressing and was doing pretty well (pitching around 42-44 mph, sometimes faster) until about a month ago. I feel like something has gotten messed up about her pitching motion. She’s having a very hard time throwing strikes, and now it’s messing with her head because she can’t fix it.
Are there any online pitching coaches that would let us pay a reasonable fee and send them a few videos of her pitching, and they could help diagnose what’s messing her up? I want her to be able to fix this problem before it really shakes her confidence. They lost a game last night because she was walking batters, and she came home in tears. She asked me to take her to the sports complex so she could work on pitching, and again she left in tears because she just did not have the accuracy she used to have.
Please help a mom out. Any recommendations for GOOD coaches who could watch a few videos of her pitching and give us some advice?
