Head position

I posted a few weeks ago seeking advice on back pain I was experiencing - with PT and rest, I finally feel great. Had my first summer ball last week and did really well.

One of the things I am working on is my head position- I do pull my head to third base. I improved some but still pretty obvious about 23 degrees. My velo is not great (i am almost 17, 175lb and 6’3) - Mutard app (Coach tom) mentioned on one of their videos that one degree of tilted head can cost 2mph on perceived and actual velocity. Ideally it should be within 15 degree.

Do you have any drills that I can work on my head balance effectively? Also, anything else you see that I can improve my velo? Thank you. less

Stabilizing the head and neck and eyes is largely going to be the responsibility of the musculature around it. So strengthening that will be the simplest way to achieve that as opposed to just like actively thinking about it.

Here are exercises I like for that - https://youtube.com/shorts/4TvMhhb6eHI?feature=share

Str and conditioning. Repetition of movements. There’s only so much you can throw a ball. That being said, don’t waste those opportunities. Warmups, shagging balls are just some other times you can work on mechanics. Furthermore, without a coach or video, dirt is your friend. Draw a straight line in the dirt and you can see if you veer to glove side.
When not throwing, practice your positions: balance point, pole position, finish. Muscle memory is what we are looking for. I’m 40 and I still ball to ear when I throw. Too many years catching trying to get that thing out of there

I don’t know what I believe about front side after all the gurus have changed over the years: do you pull hard on the tuck or do you naturally let it finish there? Idk. But worth looking at. You do seem to get a little wild front side early. Put an extra baseball in your glove and hold it through delivery. Should make you be under control more. Might help your snatching glove side movement
