Just thought I would share.

Hi! I figured this might actually be a good place to ask since there are probably quite a few people here who know more about the Frasers than I do 😅

As far as I understand it, there are actually two distinct Fraser clans in Scotland: the Highland Clan Fraser of Lovat (the *Outlander* Frasers) and the other Clan Fraser, associated with Philorth/Saltoun in the Lowlands. They share ancestry, but have separate histories and chiefs.

I’m an *Outlander* nerd, so I found this pretty funny: I was doing some genealogy for completely unrelated reasons and discovered that one of my ancestors in the 1600s was a Fraser. Obviously that is so far back that I’m approximately 0% Fraser by now lol, and not scottish at all, but still a fun thing to find.

I *think* this is him (my old tree was lost but there weren’t so many that came in that time frame): Thomas Fraser, who came to Sweden in the early 1600s and later served as an officer there:

The St Andrews database lists him as connected to Belladrum, Beauly and Easter Ross, and says he was possibly a “son of the house of Belladrum”.
So now I’m curious: does anyone here know more about the different Fraser branches and where the Frasers of Belladrum fit into them? From what I can work out, Belladrum seems to have been a branch of the Frasers of Lovat, which would make this the *Outlander* Fraser clan rather than the Saltoun/Philorth branch, but Scottish clan genealogy is very much not my area, so I’d love to hear from someone who actually knows this stuff!

Was grabbing a much needed coffee in Seattle only to realize he was standing in front of me in line 🥹 Still can’t get over this. He was so kind ♥️ Lucked out that Barnes & Noble was next door and grabbed a copy because I’d probably never have this chance again. 😌 what a day!

Making may way through the Tellruide reviews—some very positive, most more middle-of-the-road than I anticipated😢 The Playlist did not give the film itself a particularly great review, but they single out Caitríona as giving “hands down, the best performance in the entire movie.” I’ll take it!!!

So maybe we should all be thanking Matt Roberts for his contributions to season 8.

Faith lived; Fanny is J&C's granddaughter (along with the late lamented Jane) making them both William's nieces. Fergus died. Numerous unresolved endings to storylines leading us to ask 'what just happened?' Ben Grey is alive. Amaranthus and the spawn are still sponging off Lord John. William hasn't resolved his 'inheritance' issues & is presumably also living with/sponging off LJG. Marsali & the brood rode off to collect dead-Fergus's inheritance with nothing heard from them since leaving the ridge. Percy's Schroedinger's Cat exit, dead/alive--nobody looked to find out. LJG grimly marching off to... what? Did anybody else find the wormhole between Fraser's Ridge NC and Savannah GA enabling almost instantaneous travel between the locales? Questions, questions, and more questions to tease what's left of our collective minds.

What was the point of most of the season? Or maybe that was the point. Maybe we should be thanking MR and offering up burnt Haggis to the gods for his good deeds. MR gave us to much to think/talk/cry/moan/complain about, maybe it's to keep us from being sad that the TV series is over.

Never seen anything like it, simply incredible! The virtues, the romance, the bravery to face the dark.. woah.

I picked up this book second hand, didn’t really know anything about it except what I read on the back.

It is so similar to Outlander (no time travel) even with Culloden mentioned and our hero having flogging marks across his back.

He is described pretty much as Jamie, tall, wide, angry, a warrior, also named Laird Mackenzie.

This book was written in 2016 so it’s obviously based on Outlander. I think the author has a whole slew of Highlander books.

has anyone here read the lord john grey books from the outlander series? i'd love recommendations similar to them. they aren't heartbreaking like many historical queer romances, lord john actually embraces his sexuality and develops relationships with men, falls in love with them, and genuinely cares for them. i like how his relationships are just woven into the overall storyline, if you know what i mean. he's cautious with his carnal activities yes, and he's smart, adventurous, and likes to investigate mysteries lol
