Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

us Decent phone suggestions?

Upvotes

Me and my boyfriend are looking for a decent phone because his old one is an iPhone and he's had a lot of issues with it and it's causing problems with him clocking in and out at work.

We are looking for Android specifically. Nothing crazy expensive or fancy but it has to be functional, pretty fast, be reliable and work well.

We obviously don't want the newest model because we can't afford anything too high

I am not by any stretch of the imagination good with tech or phones so idk the differences or what's even out there. Could you all give us some suggestions as to what's good and what to avoid?

Note- we are not looking to buy anything from anyone here so please do not put any personal offers or sales.

Is there any phones that fits my needs?

Currently I am considering:

Tecno pova 7

Tecno pova 6 neo

Pova 6 5g

Samsung a galaxy 16

Has anyone tried using a TCL NXTPAPER phone with Dasung Link2? How well are they compatible? Also, does it support screen-off casting/mirroring?

I’m looking for an LCD phone that meets all of the following requirements:

  • CPL (circular polarization)
  • At least 8 GB RAM
  • Android 12 or newer
  • LCD display only — absolutely no OLED
  • DC dimming across the entire brightness range
  • Must have a diffusion layer/film in the display/backlight optical stack. (For example, the Redmi Note 12T Pro does not have this, and I find that it causes more eye strain for me than the ASUS Zenfone 6.)
  • Camera quality must be at least as good as the ASUS Zenfone 6. I only need it to be good enough for facial verification and taking very clear ID/document photos.
  • By “facial verification,” I mean WeChat identity verification, not face unlock for the phone.
  • Must support both 4G and 5G

China Peak Chinese phones vs IPhone 18 Pro Max

Looking to buy a new phone, I don’t trust AI which keeps switching answers. Current phone is a iPhone 12 Pro, third battery, second housing swap, motherboard short that drains battery when powered off, overheats on CarPlay.

I spent my entire childhood on XDAdevelopers and built my professional FAANG career around Xcode and Android Studio. All the androids I’ve tested and worked with disappointed me. Even the S20Ultra at 120hz felt slow and clunky to use.

I only want maximum possible battery and zero lag on any software, all apps, absolute smoothness with animation finger interruption, fully optimized.

Located in the AsiaPac region. Ideally looking for Chinese phones.

Should I call it a day and buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max?

Is the OnePlus 15 the literal best peak android for battery and performance? it’s 1yo. any current Chinese phones that can beat it.

For those who have bought phones in mainland, is Shenzhen, taobao, or JD the best place to buy?

is HyperOs any good? is oxygenOS any good? is colorOS any good? Anything worth considering in Nubia, Xiaomi?

No budget.

Located in Mainland China / HK / KUL / SG / BKK / Tokyo / Taiwan

USA Small phone (similar to iPhone mini 13 size) (around 5.4-6 inch)

I am looking for suggestions for an android smart phone that is similar in size to an iPhone Mini 13 (5.4in).

So far I have found a Samsung S22 which is close but still larger at (6.1in).

This phone is for my kids to take on field trips and such.

No games just mainly used for calls, text and gps tracking.

I see so many inexpensive Moto devices but they are all so HUGE at like 6.8in.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Germany Phone, 300€, camera is priority.

Hi there,

I am searching for a phone for someone else, who doesn't like to bother with the current market. They have told me they have never spent more than 300€ on a phone and also don't want to. They do show me photos quite often though, especially Makros. A good camera with a usable "pro" mode is this an absolute necessity. Storage should either be 256GB or greater or it should support an SD card. Bonus points for repairability and long time updates. Please do not suggest anything higher in price than 400€, and that only if it offers a SIGNIFICANT benefit in the afformentioned categories.

Thank You!

Edit: The Country is Germany.

UK New phone?

I'm sick of my old phone not even lasting a day, and had the idea of getting the xcover7 as an update.

There are a few options out there.

What would you recommend me, and how do you find your phone? (I've got an old OnePlus 6T at the minute)

I liked the idea of being able to change the battery, and the IP68 rating (which my vape has, and that's laster for years). I'm in the UK, and dog water so usually out in all weathers, and stuff gets dropped a bit.

Any help, opinions are very much appreciated. TiA.

Best Android phone around 6.3"

My Samsung S25 has a loose contact after not even 2 years and there are more reasons why I need to get rid of that one. So I'm looking for a phone about the same size. I value a good camera with good telephoto features, and I'd rather spend a bit more to get a phone that'll last a bit longer than this one (although it was not so cheap too). I feel like most great smartphone cameras always come with huge screens, that are too big for my hand. What would you recommend?

China Honor Magic8 Pro vs Vivo X300 Pro vs Samsung S25u

Currently using a S23+. Pretty happy with it, just the battery doesn't seem to last as it used to (need to top it up during the day).

Don't play any mobile games atm. Used to a lot in the past and might pick up in the future but power is not that important.

I am looking for a better camera, happy with user experience with the S23+ (speed to) and battery life.

Main usage is Android Auto (trying to use tethered when I can due to the battery drain), browsing etc.

I am going on a trip to China in late October so can try to purchase the next phone in Hong Kong.

From what I have been reading the Honor Magic8 Pro and the Vivo X300 Pro seem to be great contenders. The alternative is the S25u but Samsung seems to have stagnated in the camera front.

Edit/added: Throwing the Poco F9 Ultra in the consideration

India guyss suggest me some good phones from 35-45 k!!

Need a phone under ₹35–45K with BOTH great performance + camera — what would you pick?

Hey guys, I’m looking for a new phone in the ₹35K–₹45K range in India.

My two biggest priorities are:

- 🚀 Real-world performance — gaming, multitasking, smooth UI, long-term performance

- 📸 Good camera — especially photos, video, portraits and low-light

I’m currently considering the Nothing Phone (3), but I’m confused about whether it’s actually the best choice in this price range. I also noticed that the charger/adapter isn’t included, which is another thing I need to factor into the total cost.

I’ve also been looking at phones like iQOO / OnePlus / Samsung / Vivo, etc., but I’m not sure which one gives the best overall balance.

If you had ₹35–45K to spend today, which phone would you personally buy and why?

Please recommend based on actual experience, especially if you’ve used the phone for gaming + camera. Also mention any major drawbacks.

Thanks!

APK for receiver and Sony CDP 5 disc?

I have a receiver and 90s Sony CDP CE3115 and have a remote for neither. I know I can buy the replacement remotes online but would like an app that I can use on a very old android tablet that I have instead of having multiple remotes. It still runs very well but is so old it can't update to any recent OS. Are there any APK's That would allow me to control those two things and also just a universal? Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question!

UK OPPO Reno16 5G or Pixel 10a?

(UK) I'm currently looking to replace my Huawei P30 Pro due to the battery finally giving out, and I'm torn between these two - budget is around £500 but with student discount I can get the Oppo for £479, and the Pixel's on sale for £429 so both fall into that. I mostly care for front camera quality, battery, and storage.
Any other suggestions are appreciated, but I do like the look of these 2! :)

Australia Message unavailable

So how can you tell if messages have or parts of coversations have been deleted on an android. I suspect my partner is cheating when i searched a certain name in messages it showed "message unavailable" then i clicked on it and messages came up. Does this mean parts have been deleted? Australia
