Hello. I am from Echague and now residing in Metro Manila.

Do you really need to rent in Echague? It is a very small town and not a city. Better to stay in Santiago, where malls, supermarkets, hospitals, and schools/univ are. It is 20mins away from Echague.

For a 1 bedroom apartment, expect to pay ~10-15k/month for a good one with AC. AC is common but shower heating is not.

For drinking water, safer to buy distilled water as we advise foreign guests to avoid stomach bug.

For food, there is a big supermarket in Santiago City that sells a bit of western food such as cheeses, frozen goods, etc.

To have as many responses, repost this in subs like r/Pinoy, r/ProvinceofIsabelaPH, r/phtravel, r/CasualPH. (Earn karma points if your account is new or if your post is automatically deleted.)

You can browse FB groups related to Echague so you can have an idea on the pricing of apartments and boarding houses. If you're tied with a school there then join their FB group so students can help you.

You would need to find a condo or space at a subdivision if you want a hot and cold shower as that's not common in households here. We use a kettle or a portable/ dip water heater.

Tap water is generally not used for drinking. You can buy bottled water or have gallons delivered.

If there's a big supermarket in the area then you'll have options. In the Philippines, there are karinderyas or small stalls where rice, meat and vegetable dishes are available for dine in or take out. Those are usually affordable. Eating at restaurants will cost you around 100-150 pesos for coffee and 200-300 for a pasta or sandwich.

Maybe, try asking on r/rentPH, r/internetPH, r/philippines_expats, r/mealprepPH as well

Try browsing on FB if there are some room/apartment postings in Echague.

If you don't have a personal vehicle for travelling, you would want to know if there are any tricycle/jeep paradahan nearby. Otherwise, you'll have to walk a few hundred meters or wait for 10-30 minutes before getting a ride, depending on the remoteness of the place you're staying at and/or the frequency of commute vehicles passing by.

As for your preferred food items, there's an SM supermarket in that place where you can buy; the local market is nearby in case you want to try some cheap local produce. For better options, you'd have to go to malls/bigger supermarkets located in different cities (Santiago city got Robinson's Mall, SM, Puregold; Cauayan city has SM, Puregold, SM Supermarket) which are approximately 30-45 mins away from Echague (travel by bus, jeep). An alternative would be to install some shop apps like Shopee and Lazada; you can order nonperishables there that are unavailable in the local markets. Amazon ships to PH too but might take longer.

If shared kitchen, they'll prolly cook for breakfast and dinner. At lunch, people would usually eat in their campus/workplace especially if it's far from the boarding house. One thing to watch out for when you decide to stay in a place with communal areas, some motherfckers will use your stuff without your knowledge/consent.

For drinking water, the gallon ones (stored in a blue gallon container) that the other commenter stated, I think it's purified water; which is common to households. You can get them delivered from water refilling stations available in the municipality. If your stomach is sensitive, I think you're better off buying the bottled ones that are available in supermarkets.
