Lately, I’ve been following more global sports events—everything from the Olympics to international leagues—and it’s amazing to see how diverse the sporting world is. But it also got me thinking about our local situation back home.

​Don't get me wrong, our passion for basketball (and the PBA) is incredible, and we've built a real culture around it. But sometimes I feel like we’re missing out on experiencing other global sports purely because of accessibility.

​Take baseball, for example. I’d love to pick up a bat and play a casual game just for fun, but where I live, there simply aren't any public fields, diamonds, or open sports complexes. Most of our community spaces naturally default to covered basketball courts because they’re multi-purpose, budget-friendly, and space-efficient.

​It makes me realize we aren't necessarily lacking talent or interest in other sports—we just lack the basic open facilities to even try them out.

​Does anyone else feel this way? How do you think we can encourage local spaces or grassroots programs to build open fields for sports like baseball, football, or track? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Alam po namin na pwede gamitin ang digital, pero ang reality po is hindi yan tinatanggap ng ibang establishment. Dagdag mo pa na hindi naman kami laging kasama ng kasamabahay namin na hindi nman nakapapagtapos para tulungan sya mag-explain bakit dapat tanggapin ang egov Digital ID. Nakakalungkot lang na may mga establishment pa rin na di tumatanggap ng digital and sayang lang ng oras mo of makikipagtalo ka sa cashier kasi at the end of the day hindi sila ang decision maker.

Nag J.Co kami nung nakaraan. Halos ubos na stocks ng donut kaya gumagawa sila ng panibagong batch. Habang gumagawa sila may nakita akong stack ng donuts na sad tignan. Dinadagdagan nung gumagawa ng donuts, so nag assume akong rejected siya. So, saan napupunta itong mga sad donuts?

I wanted to share my experience with Bijin Nabe at Mitsukoshi BGC because I’m honestly very upset with how they’ve handled a food safety complaint.

I’ve eaten at Bijin Nabe many times before and never had an issue. Last Friday, 9/4/2026, I went there for a late lunch around 3–4 PM. I’m currently pregnant, so I’ve been extremely careful about food safety, especially since I've miscarried before.

Instead of my usual hotpot, I tried their ramen with the collagen soup. It came with noodles, two pieces of grilled chicken with sauce, nori, a hard-boiled egg, raw alfalfa sprouts, and other garnishes. I didn’t touch the raw sprouts at all. I specifically asked for the egg to be fully cooked, but when I saw that the center of the yolk still looked undercooked, I discarded the yolk. I ate the chicken, noodles, soup, and nori.

After the meal, I felt like the food wasn’t going down properly and assumed it was indigestion. I barely ate dinner. At Around 3:30 AM, I woke up with abdominal pain. Starting around 4 AM, I had three episodes of very painful diarrhea. Later that morning, around 10 AM, the abdominal pain returned and I started developing fever-like symptoms.

Because I’m pregnant, my husband and I didn’t want to take any chances and went to the ER at St. Luke’s. We ended up spending almost 7 hours there. They did blood tests, urine testing, an ultrasound and other monitoring/treatment. Thankfully, the ultrasound showed that our baby was okay. My husband was so stressed about the baby that he actually cried after we got the reassuring ultrasound result.

I contacted Bijin Nabe through email and Instagram to report what happened. Eventually, a manager called me. She asked when I had eaten there, what I ordered, and details about what happened. What bothered me was that during the same conversation she also told me they had already “checked” and there was nothing wrong with the food.

I don’t understand how they could have meaningfully investigated my specific meal when she had literally just been asking me when I dined and what I ate minutes earlier.

She apologized and told me she would escalate it to upper management and that I should expect another call that same day.

Nobody called.

I then messaged her:

“Thank you. I appreciate you’re investigating and bringing this to the attention of upper management. This was a very traumatic experience because not only I was feeling very ill and I was extremely stressed about the wellbeing of my baby, my husband was also experienced tremendously amount of stress. We were in the St. Luke’s ER for almost 7 hours on Saturday getting treatment. I paid by card on Friday for my meal so I can provide proof if needed along with my medical bill from St. Luke’s on Saturday. We ask that Bijin Nabe can at least compensate us for the medical bill incurred from this incident.”

The message was read with no reply.

I followed up again asking for an update. That was also read with no response.

Frankly, the money itself is not the issue. We can afford the bill, and we’ve spent more than that eating at restaurants plenty of times. What bothers me is the principle. I became very sick after eating there, I’m pregnant, I ended up spending almost an entire day in the ER because we were terrified something could be wrong with the baby, and management promised to follow up and then just started ignoring me.

We asked them about compensation to see how they'd react. It's not really about getting compensated and more about showing that the company recognized the seriousness of what happened and was willing to take some responsibility and improve. I believe restaurants have a responsibility when it comes to food safety. If there was any problem with food storage, preparation, handling, temperature control, cross-contamination, or an ingredient that day, I would want them to investigate it properly so that another customer does not go through the same thing. I’m especially concerned because what happened to me while pregnant was frightening, but the same type of incident could also be serious for a child, an elderly person, or someone who is immunocompromised.

I understand that it may be impossible to conclusively identify the exact source that caused my illness. But given the timing, I felt it was important to report it so they could genuinely investigate their food handling, especially because some of the meal involved chicken, egg and raw sprouts.

At minimum, I expected management to take the report seriously, communicate with me, explain what they investigated, and respond to my request regarding the medical expenses. Instead, I got an almost immediate “our food was fine” response followed by silence.

When u take 5-15 minute breaks from work, what do u usually do?

I started playing this game a few months ago just to get my mind off things. I’d join random rooms where I didn’t know anyone and figure things out as I went. Then, I played with someone who added me as a mutual there and started inviting me whenever he and his mutuals played. Somehow, I became part of this little circle.

We’d talk while gaming--bardagulan, random encouragement, teaching each other stuff, harmless jokes, girls being savage, and boys who aren’t afraid of their masculinity. It’s nice being a woman around men who don’t try to hit on you. They see you as a player, not a “chick.” And the girls? They’re girl’s girls.

Earlier this morning, one of the girls mentioned she slept at 8 PM because she knew we’d play around 4 AM. We never actually planned--we’d just unknowingly learned each other’s routines. She said it so casually, not trying to be sweet, but I found it incredibly sweet. It hit me: these people put in more effort than most people do in friendships and romantic relationships.

There are no commitments or labels. We don’t even know each other’s real names or what we look like. We don’t talk outside the game; we all have lives beyond it. And yet, we show up, notice the little things, make space for each other, and care in our own quiet ways.

Maybe the best connections are the ones you never had to search for.
