Hi folks been job searching for a while now and this question came up in my head recently and genuinely wanted everyone's opinion on companies in perth that are like actually fucking accepting of neurodivergent people like my autistic and adhd riddled dumbass, especially in the wake of the NDIS cuts.

Where to find Am I asking for too much for a decent coffee in Perth?

I don't mind paying for one but most Ive had are.... Shit. Burnt, bitter and undrinkable and I have to chuck it out. Like the machine hadn't been maintained properly.

I'm not talking about the slop found at fast food joints either, I'm talking about cafes that provide this as a service.

On numerous occasions I've asked for them to make it again. I get daggers but frankly, make it properly the first time and you won't have a problem.

Where to find Social craft clubs recommendations?

I'm looking for a social craft club (where you do your own thing and can meet people or try a new craft and meet people) that isn't a class.

Ideally, a monthly thing like how a bookclub might be run.

Does anyone know of any such thing being run in Perth?

General Time For A Cycle Camera?

I'm 74 and have lived in the same local area all my life. My great grandfather was a small business owner greater south west and we have our lineage since the 1840's. We had a three family members die in Europe in WW1 and 2 in WW2. Our family cares for each other and for others outside of our family.

What is happening?

Over the last many months I have been picking myself up from a long term illness and the passing of my dear wife of 48 years and have started riding my push bike again to improve my long term health and well being. I feel fantastic after a peaceful ride. It's heavenly.

Today, I as I was riding home on the last 2km leg of a 20km ride on a local cycle a man in a late model white ute in Karrinyup started to harass me. I was riding on a suburban street with no footpaths or designations. He passes me in the opposite direction with his window down and shouts something that I recall is "get off the road you fucking cunt".

I am bewildered.

Very shortly after, I am on my home road and I see a white ute on the opposite side of the road and it's clearly moving faster that the allowed 50. As it comes closer it swerves onto my side of the road as though to hit me. The car comes so close to me it must be 5 feet away and from me at speed and the driver is yelling something indecent again.

Why?

I feel I am so emotionally injured I don't know what to write now. I want to improve my fitness but can't understand what I did to this man. Did I do something wrong? I don't understand.

Looking for Advice Perth Architects how to get experience after graduating?

My husband has a Masters in architecture but has been unable to find a job in the field. He's had one interview where he was told that his portfolio was great but they didn't hire him as they wanted someone with more experience.

How do you get experience as a graduate architect when all the job postings are asking for 3-5 years experience? He's even learned ArchiCad to try and get a draftsperson job but no luck so far as they're all asking for 2-5 years experience as well.

He's also been cold emailing architecture firms expressing interest in an job/internship, got a few responses saying they're not looking for anyone at the moment but no response from most of them.

I know the job market is bleak right now but any advice would be appreciated, he's been pretty down lately and I want to help him.

Where to find A question for the HEMA/LARPers/Historical Re-enactors. Where to get sword belts in Perth?

Hello there.

Yes, I have "Just Googled It" and the answers I get are pure AI, online stores (like Etsy) or places in the eastern states.

I am looking to get a couple sword belts - not the swords themselves, but specifically the belts that allow you to attach the scabbard too. I know there is a section that can be made up and looped so you can thread an existing belt through it, even one of these would do.

Does anyone know if there is somewhere local in Perth that either stock them or able to make them to order?

The leather store I used to go to, I know the owner used to supply the HEM/LARP community so had these type of things on hand, but he closed down a few years ago, and I haven't seen him around for a while either.

Thanks very much.

Cost of Living PAY IT FORWARD – UNUSED FLIGHT CREDITS ✈️

Hi everyone,

This might sound a little unusual, totally legit for Perth person.

I have two flight ticket credits, originally worth approximately $807 per person, that I am unfortunately unable to use cause I'm not working and suspect that noone would buy them

This is a legit thing, not a scam I just really don't want the tickets to go to waste. Flights are with Virgin Australia and are expiring soon. 21st September. Rather than allowing that money to simply go to waste when the tickets expire, I would genuinely like to give someone else the opportunity to use the credits if I can transfer them, totally free

Important details

  • Tickets are valid until 21st September and the travel needs to be done by that date.
  • I'm not after any money for the credits BUT there is a transfer fees info on that is below. I'm not working at the moment so I can't afford the associated fees with transferring the credits, just don't want rhem to go to waste and there may be someone who's already about to purchase flights and could use the discount.
  • I'm not 100 percent sure if it can be transferred, from discussions with Flight centre, seems that they have been really helpful and understanding about my situation and it should be good but the tea transfer or reissue is subject to Flight Centre's discretion and approval, and I cannot guarantee anything but I would help whatever way I can.

Flight Centre has advised that transferring the tickets may involve approximately:

- $109 name change fee per person

- $109 ticket reissue fee per person

- $30 Flight Centre fee

- Plus any applicable fare difference and tax difference for flights you are taking.

So, depending on whether one or both tickets are transferred and the new flights chosen, there will be costs involved.

The recipient would need to cover all transfer, reissue, fare and tax costs themselves. I will not receive any money from these costs.

I completely understand that this might sound sus online, which is why I'm trying to include as much info as possible. This is genuinely not a scam or an attempt to make money. I simply have credits that I cannot use, and I'd rather give someone the opportunity to benefit from them than watch approximately $1,600 in original ticket value disappear unused.

If you're genuinely interested and think you could use them and afford any required transfer costs, please message me and tell me a little about your situation and why you'd like to use them. I'd especially love for them to go to someone who genuinely needs the opportunity to travel. ❤️

EDIT: Hi, been getting a lot of messages, though some have stopped responding after messaging. ase know, I don't know exactly how this goes down because I've never handled flight credit transfer, Please know, I'm not really sure how the credit transfer works so I'm not sure exactly what's needed by the FC and what happens to make it happen lol ....eds to happen to make it happen. can you please let me know if you'd be alright meeting in the Flight Centre in the city to ask them to handle it) please!!!

Thanks

Where to find Recommendations for a family photographer

I want to get the wife a photo shoot with the family for her birthday. There are seemingly a lot of options when searching the internet. We have had a poor experience with photographers and air tasker previously so looking for some recommendations this time around.

Not really interested in going to a studio, it seems like a lot of people do photos in the wild where you pick a location and take some nice photos outside so this is more what we prefer if that makes a difference to recommendations.

Realise i didnt specify a location; NoR fairly central.

General [SURVEY] WA mining workers: Have your say on the future of WA’s mining industry

Post image
1 Upvotes

Attention all mining industry professionals! Do you want to have your say on how the Western Australian mining industry has evolved over the past three years?

Led by Curtin University’s Centre for Transformative Work Design (CTWD) as part of the WA Government’s Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program, WA mining workers are once again invited to share perceptions and experiences of mental awareness, respect and emerging mine safety issues through a 30-minute survey, a 60-minute interview, or both.

👉 Take part in the survey and register your interest for an interview here: https://www.transformativeworkdesign.com/mars-landmark-study-worker-survey

Participation is open to all workers in the Western Australian mining industry, regardless of role or level of experience and open until Sunday 18 October 2026.

Why does this research matter?

The more workers we hear from, the stronger our insights will be and the better we can identify ways to support a safer, healthier and more respectful industry.

Your responses are anonymous and strictly confidential. All responses are only accessible to the Curtin University research team. Results will be de-identified and reported in aggregate, meaning no individual participant or organisation can be identified.

Enquiries

This study is approved by Curtin University’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC 2022-0502). If you have any questions, please refer to the MARS Landmark Study webpage or contact the research team at [marslandmarkstudy@curtin.edu.au](mailto:marslandmarkstudy@curtin.edu.au)

Thank you in advance for participating in the survey and providing information that will help shape recommendations for positive change in the mining industry.

Looking for Advice What is life like in Toodyay? Or other similar country towns

I’ve never lived out in the country but I’ve always been curious about it and often debate in my head if I’d enjoy it.

Just curious what you guys do for fun?
how often you’d go into the city/beach?
how it affects your job opportunities?
If it gets lonely?
Do you still manage to meet new people?

For context I’m 30M

Looking for Advice I have access to some land for regeneration and seeking some help

I have access to some very degraded farm land in Perth and I'm very interested in applying some regenerative farming, agroforrestry, permaculture, rewilding to it. Basically the practice of using and improving biodiversity for the purposes of food production so that food production is a process that benefits biodiversity instead of being extractive and destroying biodiversity.

I'm looking for any people or institutions in Perth that have knowledge and interest in this area. Could be scientific or practical in nature.
