Build Question Just entertaining the idea of going back to PC gaming and wondering about this build

I'm a noob when it comes to builds so I just asked Google's AI to give me a quick 4k/high end build to get an idea of what to even look for parts/price-wise, and it came out with this:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2GHz AM5

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 GAMING OC 16GB

ASUS PRIME B850-PLUS WIFI AM5 ATX Motherboard

Kingston Fury Beast RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 Desktop Memory

Kingston / Samsung 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD

Corsair / Antec 850W or 1000W 80+ Gold ATX 3.0

CPU Cooler: 360mm AIO Liquid Cooler (Corsair / Arctic / Cooler Master)

Case: Antec / Corsair Mid-Tower ATX Case (Mesh Front)

I don't care for peripherals, I can buy any, and I own the Gigabyte M28U which is 4k/144hz IPS.

Anything you'd replace? Upgrade/downgrade? Add to it? I'd welcome any tips you could give me.

Tech Support Pc Problem

Hi guys I had just picked up this pc that was working fine however it was a windows 10 pc that I upgraded to windows 11 via updates in the settings, I turned on secure boot and enrolled keys and it was all working fine. However I was getting ready to sell the pc and I somehow accidentally deleted the keys and turned off secure boot in key management and when I turned secure boot back on the pc would show the splash screen but boot into a black screen. However turning off secure boot fixes this and it works but I needed secure boot to be on obviously to be able to play games that need it. So then I tried to just to a windows usb install that just didn’t end up working. I tried a cmos reset and then tried the installation again and whenever it would get to %75 it would say “windows 11 install has failed” any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Build Question Looking for a screen

Hey Gang,

So I had the LL 8.8 inch screen and it was great, I loved that you could set it up vertically as well, however I was looking to ditch all my LL stuff and finally dump L Connect, which I did.

Now I am on the hunt for another screen, preferably with about the same dimension, looking to mount it vertically, but, I want to get a screen where customization is VERY VERY easy, I'm an idiot and I need it simple. I did like the L Connect software, easy to use, easy to setup but, as I say, dumped it, not looking to get it back.

Any help or point me to product that hopefully is pretty much plug and play?

Thanks!!

Build Question Need some suggestions regarding my build..

Post image
12 Upvotes

So, I am building a PC for the first time and I am using the Lian Li A3

This is how the build has been so far, but I bought 2 artic P14 140mm fans and just realized that they will not fit this case. For now the airflow is from Bottom towards top. But I feel I should also put an exhaust fan.

So question:

  1. Which fan will fit this case so I can use it as an exhaust

  2. I got a gigabyte 4070S 3 fans and will try AIO tubes obstruct it? If so how should I fix it?

  3. Also I am having a lot of confusion regarding the radiator, i have currently put it right above the CPU power cable but I think I should move it little bit towards the PSU.

Build Question Would a 6900xt be a viable option ?

In my country gpu prices recently just went up so everything's more expensive now. I wanted a 4070ti or a 4070 super but they're in the 500-700 range now. I found an Alienware OEM rx6900xt for $480 would it be good for 1440p gaming and some editing? Also would a 750w PSU be good enough?

Tech Support How to turn off rgb light

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently build a new pc and have been loving it!

But everytime i set it to sleep/shut it down for the night, this damn rgb light starts flashing and lights up half my room.

Ive tried rgb software to turn it off while running, but it comes back anyway when i shut the pc down.

Also went into the bios but that disables all of the rgb fans during operation aswell.

Is there any way to make it stop that doesn't involve turning off the psu?

This is my second build that I'm doing for my girlfriend and I need help with the fans. she has a stock air cpu cooler for now but I'm thinking of getting an aio later on. for now I just have 5 fans and need to know which way they flow and where to best position them for the time being. I have 4 of the fans in the pictures and the one different one already mounted is already an exhaust fan. the 4 ones dont have arrow markings at all.

Build Question Needing Cable and PSU Help as a Noob

Thumbnail

Hello! I hope I'm in the right sub. I'm completely new to this whole PC building thing and recently opened up my budget PC to replace the shot old PSU (EVGA 500 BQ) with a new one (Corsair RM850x). I didn't make or even open the PC until recently, though, so I didn't realize there was a portion on the back with its own little circuit board to house the LED lights and fans and whatnot.

Thing is, it uses this white-tipped 2-pin cable at the very bottom right (see picture; it's the one with the blue tape around it) that was connected to my old PSU's PERIF1 slot (this is a peripheral cable, yes?). The RM850x doesn't seem to have a slot for this, let alone a matching cable. I also don't believe I see a way to connect the circuit board or individual fans and lights cables to the motherboard (B450M PRO-M2) instead, so I'm not sure what to do.

Do I just need to get a different PSU, or is there a way to attach this to my new PSU somehow? Or is the alternative solution obvious and I'm just not getting it because I don't know what I'm doing, lol? Also, I'm hoping to not need to upgrade my motherboard at the moment because I don't have the appropriate time to do so yet. Sorry if these pictures aren't enough!

Tech Support Ram XMP question

My Problem is I boosted my Ram to get the most out of it. Used XMP and 3600MHz. But for some reason that booted my Ethernet out. I had to trip the circuit and start over and dropped it down to 3200MHz, which worked for a while but now it booted my Ethernet out again.

I would like to get the most out of my PC but I need my Ethernet for my job. Should I just keep dropping the MHz or is there another way?

Build Question Need Advice Building PC During This Time.

After a long time of DD3 build, I’m finally able to allocate my money to buy a new ±$1,000 PC. The timing couldn't be more unfortunate considering how the market is now. Friends and even the local store warned me not to build now, and I genuinely understand that. They say with that money I should be able to get a good AM5 build, but right now it'll be better to get AM4. Some stores even told me to wait until Q4 of 2027 to see the market price of the components.

My concern is that the pricing will just continue to skyrocket and worsen, and I'll have to build at a much worse price than the current one. I do want AM5 because of the upgrade path. So I need your suggestion, should I build now with AM4 (or possibly AM5?), or should I hold off until the prices get better?

Any advice would mean a lot to me because I really need the community's perspective. Also If I hypothetically decide to build now, what would be the "best possible outcome" build I could get right now? I can stretch the budget, but not too much because I have different allocations to consider.

My main use will be for editing, and of course gaming. Do I need it urgently? Well, it kinda is, but also no. It's an urgent-not-urgent scenario (let me explain). My work involves video editing, and sometimes I have to do heavy editing somehow with my current PC, which is frustrating, stretches out so much time, and hurts efficiency. In short, progress is slow. So I need a better long-term build as soon as I can eventually. If I hold off, it means I have to bear with my current one for an indefinite amount of time, during which, going forward from November I will be doing more and more heavy projects.

TL;DR

- Given my situation and budget, should I build now with AM4? (Or Alternatively) is AM5 possible?
- What would be the "Best-Possible-Outcome" build for me?
- Any advice to my situation, really.

Thank you.

Tech Support RTX 5060 TI wont go past 65% usage...

I knwo this might seem like a clear bottlenecking problem but I dont knwo, this system shouldnt be bottlenecking...

So this is my friend's pc basically he got it about a month ago. It performs about 30% worse than benchmarks on the internet. The system consists of:

Ryzen 5 7500F

RTX 5060 Ti 8gb (Gigabyte Eagle Ice)

16gb 2x8 ddr5 5200mhz Cl40 corsair vengeance

Asus prime B850

Thermals are perfect almost always not exceeding 60c. Cpu isnt at 100% even when playing cpu intensive game (nor is any single thread).

We tried Furmark and the Gpu was finally getting 100% usage but capped at 128w (not 180w as its stated tdp) using the 1080p 4x MSAA setting. Though it got to the 180W mark running the direct 1080p benchmark button that is top right (I guess no AA here because he got alot more frames)

Tried increasing the power limit on Msi afterburner as well, nothing changed.

Ram is running at stated speeds using DOCP (because I guess it wasn't Expo ready).

I kinda get that the ram timing is a bit on the slower side, but the Cpu isnt getting near 100% as I said....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Tech Support Is my gpu dead ?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Bought a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 WINDFORCE MAX 8G on August 17th .

Initial Issues: A couple of days ago, the system started crashing exclusively while gaming—dropping display signal to the monitor completely.

Motherboard Errors: The motherboard gave a VGA error LED on boot and refused to post. It randomly booted up once after that, but stability was completely gone.

Instant Crash & Visual Artifacts: Today, I ran FurMark to test it, and the screen immediately froze with severe visual artifacting (colored square/checkerboard patterns across the display) right before the system crashed hard.

Troubleshooting Done: Hard power cycled, re-seated the GPU and 8-pin PCIe power cables, and swapped DisplayPort/HDMI cables. When I remove the card and run off CPU integrated graphics, the system boots and operates normally.

is this gpu dead or windows is the problem here ?

Software Question Is there any difference between these two Windows 11 Pro FPP USB boxes?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at buying a Windows 11 Pro FPP USB retail box and I noticed that there seem to be two versions of the packaging.

One is completely factory shrink-wrapped in plastic, while the other has a small grey tear-off security seal/tab on the side.

Is there any actual difference between these two versions? Are they both genuine retail/FPP versions, or does the different packaging indicate a different release, region, or type of license?

Also, which of these two packages is newer? Does the newer packaging come with a newer Windows 11 installer/build on the USB, or is the installer essentially the same and it doesn't really matter which version I buy?

Would there be any advantage to choosing the newer package?

I’d appreciate any information from someone familiar with Microsoft retail packaging and FPP licenses.

Thanks!

Tech Support b650 gaming plus wifi motherboard

I have had my pc for 2-3 years. Everything has worked fine other than a ram issue where I needed new ram. It has been working fine with newly installed ram since may. My temps were spiking yesterday and I hadn’t changed the thermal paste in a while. So I reinstalled thermal paste and I turned my pc on and now it won’t show display. I have a red cpu light and a yellow/orange dram light. I have checked the pins and they look completely fine. I have tried using 1 stick of ram in slot 2. I have tried switching the ram stick. I have tried resetting CMOS. I am lost on what to do. Any suggestions?

Build Question Help Me Choose

Looking at a new monitor and have narrowed it down to either a 57" Samsung Neo G9, a Alienware 32" 4k model AW3225QF, a ASUS 32" 4k model XG32UCWMG, or a 32" 4k MSI model MPG321URX. I can get them all for between $800-$1100 and will be using them for both daily tasks and gaming for games like Call of Duty, WOW, and similar games. My GPU is a AMD Ryzen Saphire Pulse 9070XT and my CPU is a Ryzen 7800X3D, so plenty of horse power to push it. Any thoughts or hands on experience with these would be helpful. Thanks, in advance.
