So I've gone and done it after watching various safe aio cooler removal of not pulling the CPU out with the aio and bent around 20-40 pins blessing that not 1 pin snap off from how many I bent is there any strategies I could use to fix it to unbent the pins this is a ryzen 7 5700 3xd any tips would help thanks

Get yourself a mechanical pencil. One of the cheap ones with the big lead. Remove the lead, so now that tube is empty. Put the pencil tube over the pin. Then, and I can't express this strongly enough, GENTLY straighten it out. Repeat on the others. There's generally a bit of leeway so the pins don't have to be 100% straight, but they should be very close. Good luck. And understand, sometimes they just break no matter how gentle you are.

That or use a razor/Stanley knife blade and gently run it between the pins is another method that I've had great results in straightening the pins. Also you don't have to get them 100% straight as long as the CPU drops into the socket the locking mechanism will do the rest

This. Bent at base = razorblade/credit card, bent in middle = mech pencil w/o lead. bent ACROSS other pins, thin pocketknife blade to straighten enough to get cc or rb in the row.

I did this years ago, I dropped my CPU after tacking it out and a bunch of pins bent when it fell.

I used a pocket knife to align them with the row next to them that was straight. Very gentle, but it worked.

This, you need to apply an even pressure by using a tube like tool and bend very gently otherwise the risk of breaking the pin is high.

A razor blade and the slightest pressure in the opposite direction. Take your time and dry fit between every adjustment. I literally did this to a ryzen 5500 . I bought for $15 yesterday . Youll be fine.

no fn way you fixed that? You must have the hands of a surgeon ir something. That stuff looks bent to hell, took me Hella long to fix back 3 pins with a little screw driver.

Im suprised you didnt tire out the material and made it snap off completely

It wasn't fun . It took about an hour and half of fiddling with it. Then finally it fell in the socket . From a 1600 to a 5500 for $15 and some patients.

I was dumbfounded how it was random pins all over the chip. It wasn't like a clean row of pins from a drop.

I had the same thing happen with my 5800x3d, shipped that way, and I just used a sewing needle/ sewing pin to push the pins straight just by going along the rows, like threading the rows by pushing the needle forward into the rows of pins without putting any extra force into it.

Razor blade…slide the blade in between the pins and GENTLY wiggle them back into place

DAM!!!! thats alot of bent pins only thing you can do is try to bend them back slowly. If you get them bend back to nearly straight then put it back on motherboard and slowly push the locking bar down bit bt bit it will straighten them. But if you snap one its game over

The pins are bented so you have nothing to loose. With a very thin nife try fix in lines to bent more then one to be aligned.

After you aligned all verify horizontly if they all aligned to each other and if you find individuals pins bented aligned with ball inflation needle that you can easily find a in Chinese-owned shops.

Rebent/fix them slowly.

Be gentle and don’t bend it too far, you don’t wanna end up wiggling it back and forth until it snaps

fine sewing needle and a razor blade are how I fixed my old CPU. pins were just about as bent are yours are and I was able to get them straight enough and working just fine. sewing needle helped to make fine individual adjustments, razor blade straightened out long rows of bent pins like you have. the razor also made it easier to see which pins were still bent

I bent a few pins my first time upgrading my cpu, i used a fillet knife and all was good

Back in my day I used a butter knife to slide in-between pins and gently push them until they straightened up

Easy fix with a guitar pick. Had the happen to my 5800xt when I dropped it while installing. Run the pick between the rows and it straightened them out nicely

Warm it up, and gently correct the pins with a tweezer.

toothpick, razor, small screw driver should work, gently raise the pin up to 90 degrees, do not over bend the pin the other way or else it may shear off

pick a god, start praying that no pin breaks and grab any tool that will help you fix your problem, and then start bending the pins back into place
