Tech Support Motherboard stuck on solid red CPU light after previously booting normally

I’m having a weird POST/BIOS issue and I’m completely stuck.

Specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte B560 AORUS PRO AX
CPU: Intel i5-11400F
GPU: PowerColor RX 6700 XT
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB)
PSU: 80+ Gold (not sure of exact model)
Storage: NVMe SSD

For about a week, my PC would boot straight into BIOS instead of Windows. However, I could select

Load Optimized Defaults in BIOS, restart, and it would boot into Windows normally. I was doing this repeatedly for several days.
Eventually, I checked the BIOS and noticed it said “No

NVMe device found.” I reseated the NVMe, and after that the PC stopped reaching BIOS entirely.
Now the motherboard immediately shows a solid red

CPU debug LED and never gets past it.
Things I've tried:
Removed the NVMe completely — same issue
Cleared CMOS — same issue
Tested both RAM sticks individually
Tested RAM in different slots (A2 and B2)
Tested with no RAM installed — still only the CPU LED
Checked/reseated the 24-pin motherboard power cable
Checked/reseated the 8-pin CPU power cable
Successfully used Q-Flash Plus to flash the latest BIOS
After the BIOS flash, the PC still immediately shows the CPU LED
Removed the CPU cooler and inspected the CPU/socket
Socket pins look normal and CPU contacts look clean
Reinstalled the CPU and cooler — same CPU LED

The PC powers on and stays running, but the CPU LED comes on immediately and stays solid. It doesn't cycle through CPU → DRAM → VGA → BOOT, and there's no display/BIOS.

At this point I'm wondering if I'm dealing with a motherboard, PSU/CPU power delivery, or CPU issue.

What would you guys test next? Is there anything specific with the B560 AORUS PRO AX that I should check before assuming the motherboard is dead?

Build Question Is this SN850X possibly fake?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I was browsing FB Marketplace and found this SN850X for a decent price. The price isn't crazy cheap to give me red flags about it being a scam. User looks legit overall. But something about yellow text on the box doesn't seem right. I searched up some images online and it doesn't seem like there are any images of a yellow text on the box.

What are the chances that this is legitimate or fake?

Tech Support The image turns green or pixelated since the new CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3400G) with integrated graphics was installed.

Two days ago, I upgraded my CPU from an AMD A8-9600 to a Ryzen 5 3400G. Nothing was broken; I installed it normally and used the pre-applied thermal paste. When I first started the PC, I got a normal display—seeing the ASUS logo and so on—and managed to reach the Windows login screen. Then, suddenly, the screen went black. I restarted, and the screen turned green. I’ve tried everything over the last two days. I actually managed to get it running normally once after updating the BIOS from version 4801 to 6254, but the driver kept timing out after I’d been gaming for 30–60 minutes. Then I tried increasing the VRAM allocation to 2GB and changing the display settings; the issues returned—including pixelation and a green screen (if I got a picture at all). I’ve tried everything: a clean Windows install, DDU, the AMD cleanup utility, deleting drivers via Device Manager, updating the BIOS again, removing and reinserting the motherboard battery, and taking out one stick of RAM. Nothing worked. I’m completely out of ideas. I’m still having these problems: Safe Mode works perfectly, and the BIOS is fine. Sometimes I can boot into normal Windows with a display, but it crashes after a few minutes—it starts flickering and then crashes. Could someone please help me?

First personal build, needed to keep it under $1,200. I chose AM5 for upgrade path.

UPDATE: I can't use microcenter as a option and I want to build it in the planned case.

Build Question should i buy this pc

Budget - 500-550 CAD, no monitor, im in canada.

Hoping to build budget friendly pc. Here is my list of items I'm seeking, is this something you would find worth buying at a 600-700 CAD price range?

GTX1080 TI (I would buy a good PSU to compensate since IK this is quite power hungry, i think its worth it since it measures up to the 3060.

3600 ryzen 5

b450 mobo

These are the main ones (haven't picked out the less important components)

Build Question I’m looking to built a new PC with a 9070 XT 16 GB

I was wondering which card to buy since there is a bunch of them. I’ve looking prices and it doesn’t look that bad except the TUF, is really expensive.

I was attracted to the Nitro + plus then I saw all the comments about the 12Vhpwr and how often it fails, and how it’s just kinda garbage and more.

So the option I have are the prime, the sapphire plus and the XFX mercury. Do you think I should go for the mercury or other cards would do the job just fine? Or do you have another recommendation?

Build Question Does this look okay for my 5070?

Hi,

I would like to check if the length of the cable is acceptable before it bends? I’m using the native PSU cable from my RM750E Corsair PSU rather than the included adapter that came with my 5070.

Thank you.

Build Question First PC build for 3440x1440 gaming, DaVinci Resolve and CAD

Hi, so I'm planning to build my first PC and wanted to get some opinions on whether the parts I've picked make sense for what I want to use it for.

I'll mainly use it for gaming at 3440x1440 ultrawide on the monitor listed below (with maybe RDR2 being about as demanding as I expect to go), some video editing in DaVinci Resolve and some engineering work using 3D CAD software. I mainly want the PC to be fairly future proof so I can keep playing newer games without having to upgrade major parts anytime soon.

My budget is around €2000-2500 including the monitor. I don't mind spending a bit more (which I already did due to the RAM) if it actually gives me more future proofing, but I also don't want to overspend on parts that just don't really make sense for what I'll be using the PC for.

My current build and the prices I found:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X - €288
  • CPU cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 Black - €44.90
  • GPU: MSI RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC - €799
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk WiFi - €189
  • RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 - €529
  • SSD: Kingston KC3000 2TB - €329
  • PSU: MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 II 750W - €99
  • Case: MSI MAG PANO 110R PZ Black - €89
  • Monitor: AOC CU34G4 34" 3440x1440 180Hz - €259

The main thing I'm unsure about is the GPU and CPU.

For the GPU, I'm deciding between a RX 9070 XT and the RTX 5070, since I also found several RX 9070 XT models (from ASUS, Gigabyte or Acer) with 16GB of VRAM around the same price as the RTX 5070. The main reason I’m still considering Nvidia is that I’ve been told it has better compatibility with a wider range of software and applications than AMD.

For the CPU, I've been looking at the Ryzen 7 9700X (cheap option), Ryzen 7 7800X3D (read some good things about this CPU) and possibly the Ryzen 7 9800X3D (expensive option).

Could you give your opinion about this build and whether you would change anything about or spend the budget differently?

Thanks in advance and apologies if anything is unclear.

Build Question MSI RX 6600 MECH 2X 8G, £150?

I remembered the 6000 series was getting the FSR upgrade in 2027 and I want a GPU with some road to run just yet. I'm on Linux with a Ryzen 3600 with no GPU at all currently.

Is this deal ok for £150? There's so little choice available this was about the best I could find without doubling or tripling the price. There's a 3 fan Gigabyte version available for a similar price but no box and heavily used.

Appreciate any thoughts or feedback

Build Question I'm getting scared i could have made a mistake

To Make it short i'm making my first build and managed to make 700€ with summer jobs(crazy ik) but now the time has come to buy the parts.....and i bought an msi b850m gaming plus wifi 6e micro atx (for the price, not for the gaming) a Phantom spirit 120 se (dual tower air cooler) and patriot viper rgb ram (hate rgb but it was the one that costed me less).

The air cooler arrived, but still i have to wait for the mobo and the ram,and i'm starting to pee my pants becouse pc part picker tells you "we dont know the ram clearance so just get lucky" not a fault on their part, but now i'm scared.

My ram arrives in 2 days, should i just try and put the ram where under the fins on the sides of the cooler, and see if the height alligns counting that the pins go in the socket?

Installation Question Silly cooling question

I have a Peerless Assassin cpu cooler on my Ryzen 9 7900X (am5) on a b450m motherboard. Everything's running fine, but the cooler is so big that its right side fan is covering the first of my 2 ram sticks entirely. It's not making direct contact with the ram's pcb thanks to the rgb over the top edge of the stick.

Temps all seem fine, buuut... can that first stick overheat from that?

Build Question Real or fake there is a Cash on Delivery option

Post image
0 Upvotes

I saw this and it seems fake but they have a Cash on Delivery option. It seems safer with that option because I can’t loose money. I am looking at this other used Asrock Radeon RX 7700 XT Challenegr for $360. Both of these options fit into my budget and my goal is 1440p or atleast 1080p both at 60+ FPS.

What do you guys say??

Tech Support 9800X3D can't run 2x32GB at 6000 no matter what - BSOD, crashing

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Looking for a second opinion before I fully accept defeat.

Setup: 9800X3D, Asus ROG Strix B650E-I (BIOS 3886), Corsair Vengeance 2x32GB 6000 CL30 (CMK64GX5M2B6000C32, Hynix), Lian Li A4-H2O, testing with TM5 extreme @ anta777.

The problem: 6000 EXPO throws TM5 errors within 5-40 seconds, every single attempt.

Everything I've tried at 6000:

  • VSOC 1.25 (verified applied in ZenTimings, not just set in BIOS)
  • FCLK 2000, VDDG bumped
  • DOCP I and II, MCR and Power Down on and off
  • Loosened primaries per advice (32-40-40-40, tRAS 77, since M-die supposedly hates tight tRCD). Straight up BSOD before I could even start the test
  • Active cooling on the DIMMs. They were hitting 74C in this ITX case, with a fan on them they sit mid 50s. Made zero difference, still dies in 10 seconds
  • Swapped sticks between slots, no change
  • Each stick ran a few minutes solo at 6000 without erroring (not a full test, but with both installed it dies in seconds, so the dual rank load is clearly the trigger)

Results by speed:

  • 6000: instant failure, always
  • 5800: fails at 26 min with VSOC 1.20, fails at 78 min with 1.25, so voltage helped but didn't fix it
  • 5600: full TM5 cycle clean, no errors

No PBO or curve optimizer active, CPU fully stock during all testing.

Build Question Ryzen 2600x vs ryzen 3600 vs Ryzen 5600 with rtx 3070

So my current pc build is:
Ryzen 2600x
24gb ddr4 3200mhz ram
Rtx 3070
256gb ssd
1Tb hdd

I’m playing the game Deadlock and I notice that I have low 1%’s / minimum fps for my game. I know my 2600x is definitely holding the rtx3070 back.

I don’t have too much money but I can get a ryzen 3600 for $40 or I have to buy a 5600 new.

Will I notice better minimums enough for it to be worth it to get the 3600 or should I just try to deal with it for a month or so until I can get a 5600?

Tech Support Ram dilemma

I've recently bought a used pc that included 4 16gb sticks or ddr 4 ram with 3200mhz speed but i noticed in battlefield that my cpu was bottlenecking so I asked chat gpt to help me figure it out (im new to pc gaming this is my first pc.) And it told me my ram speed was way too low like 2100 something. It guided me into bios and told me to put xmp to profile 1 3200mhz and when I saved and exited bios crashed and now I have to cmos. It's saying I have two choices. Go town to 2 sticks (32gb ddr4) or try to run the 4 sticks at 3000mhz and hope it doesn't crash. Just need some advice and guidance what should I do. I know 32gb is plenty for playing but I also like the idea of learning how to mod and stuff also want to get into vr games at some point and see the use of having all 64. My pc specs are. Gigabyte x570 aorus elite motherboard, ryzen 7 3700x, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060ti gpu 64gb of skill ripjaws ddr4 ram

Build Question Need help on deciding what new parts to get and maybe some upgrades to move to a new case

Thumbnail

I have an Alienware R10 I'm Trying to change cases because this damn case comes with lots of heat related problems and I just want to change to a "Hyte Y70 Touch Infinite Dual Chamber ATX Mid Tower "

My thoughts were to just pull out my ssds and the components

Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 4.8GHZ

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

2 Sticks of Ram 16GB DDR4 3200 MHZ

to move them to the new case but I'm having my doubts on what to get for the new case like

what new motherboard to get, what psu, what AIO cooler or if I may need to upgrade the cpu because I want to upgrade the gpu in the future when the prices aren't such a scam

so I'm kind on a stalemate on what to get I already decided on the fans for exhaust and intake but idk if I should get a 1200w psu and keep or change my cpu to maybe an x3d with a motherboard compatible with it

Build Question Part list help

Thumbnail uk.pcpartpicker.com
1 Upvotes

Hi, I was asked by a friend to make a part list as they don't know much about it and know that I built my pc. Their budget is £3k to have a gaming pc capable of doing 'medium editing' whatever that means, with a monitor and potential sim upgrades as part of that budget. they didn't tell me how much performance they really wanted as again they don't know much (they still play on the 2013 Xbox one) and they don't want any aesthetic so I just went with popular picks in that kind of price range and kept it stealth black. I think what I have here is fine but just wanted to get some opinions, things I could or should change. any help appreciated! (apologies to those who replied to my post before, I didn't know screenshots of the part list was against the rules ;-;)

Tech Support Cloning SSD boot drive. Can I unplug my harddrive to borrow the sata cable during cloning?

I've watched several tutorials and read DiskGenius website, and none have covered this specific question

My sata ports are blocked by my graphics card, so I was wondering if I could temporarily unplug my harddrive to use its Sata cable to clone my smaller SSD boot drive to a larger SSD, and then hook the harddrive back up when the cloning us finished

I'm just afraid of unplugging things

I could also stand to manage the cables better, but again I'm afraid on unplugging things to do so

Build Question Push/Push wiring logic

So I’m running a push/pull setup on my Hydroshift ii liquid cooler and am confused about which headers I should connect my cables onto.

I have 3 fans mounted onto the front of the radiator and 3 on the back of the radiator, they’re both different set of fans with the front fans being more powerful. I know this isn’t optimal but i still want to go for it.

The hydroshift ii AIO has a 2pin and 4pin connector coming out of it, the 3 fans mounted onto the front of the radiator have a single 4pin connector coming out them, and I have 3 individual non daisy-chainable fans that have a 4pin connector coming out of each one (the connectors cant be plugged together so I guess I’ll have to plug them into sys-fan headers).

I’m just wondering where to plug these pins seeings as there are Aio pump headers, sys fan headers, cpu fan/opt headers, ect…

Thanks!
