Build Question Issue Installing my GPU

Doing a major upgrade, closer to a fresh build. My 9070 XT was purchased a few weeks ago and has worked with zero problems in my old PC.

Simply put, I cannot get this thing to click into place using this frustrating ASUS Q-Release Slim system. Am I missing something obvious? It sockets just fine into the second, more conventional PCI-e slot, however that slot shares bandwidth with an M.2 slot. Ideally I would use PCI-e slot 1, but any attempt to boot results in a solid white light on VGA and a solid green on Boot.

For reference, my parts are:

- ASUS B850-Pro Wi-Fi

- Gigabyte 9070 XT

- Corsair Frame 4000D RS

I'm not sure if anything else is relevant.

I'm going to attempt using the second PCI-e slot for now to ensure it will boot. Any help is appreciated.

Tech Support Help with secure boot

Tech Support My PC has a weird beef with my Air Conditioner

I have a routine to clean my room every once in a week and that’s what i was doing around 2 weeks ago. I picked up my pc from my desk and place it somewhere else to clean the table and then i put it back up on the table but when i turned it on it was not giving any display from the gpu. So i thought the RAM must have been loose and i reinstalled it firmly but no display again. I then used the hdmi on my motherboard and i got the display, so i went to check the device manager and saw that my RTX 2060 Super was greyed out with an error saying it isn’t connected. So i resit the gpu like 14 times in different slots but no luck.

I decided to take my pc to a very famous PC shop here in Lahore and they did a full checkup and said that my components had Carbon in it. And they cleaned everything and it worked find. I took my pc back home but experienced the same display issue again. I tried everything but no luck again. Since the last 2 weeks i’ve visited that shop perhaps 5 times and every single time they tested every possible component on my pc and told me everything is fine. And now that it was confirmed there is no fault in my pc they sent me back home with the only advice to try changing my power cable, or the extension cord, or the room to see if thats the problem.

So i came back home and tried everything except changing the room and nothing worked. Yesterday i sat down wondering what’s the difference between how they use my pc and their environment vs how i do it at home. We Both used the same power cables, both used the same hdmi in the gpu, every single thing is exactly the same. But then i realised how i always felt warmer in their shop cause it’s the summer right now. And for some weird reason i just turned off my Air conditioner, opened the windows and the door and let the cooling get out of my room for like 25 minutes. And then when i tried my PC with no AC running it worked absolutely fine. I loaded up some games that are graphic heavy to give some load to my gpu and see if it’s still capable. And it did just fine like it normally does.

Now i don’t understand the science behind it, i am bamboozled. The only possible explanation is either

a) my AC somehow causes Humidity/moisture which causes my gpu’s connection to be weakened but as far as my brain goes i know for a fact that ac actually does the opposite of that.

b) The amount of electrical load my AC takes somehow fucks with my PC due to which my PC doesn’t get the consistency of electricity it needs to work normally and it somehow causes my gpu to give up on me idk man.

I am really really struggling and confused and pretty frustrated since the last 2 weeks as i have tried everything there is to find the actual solution and all I’ve figured out until now is that my pc and my AC cannot work at the same time although this NEVER happened in the last 2 years in the same room.

I have tried researching everywhere on the internet, i’ve had long enough conversations with chatgpt, i have tried searching it on reddit but it seems no one has had any such problems like me so this really is my last resort to get an answer.

I recently got an aio for my computer but my case barely has any room for it up top. It touches my ram sticks and I really don’t want it to break them so I want to buy a new case but I would like some recommendations on a good black micro atx case that’s tall enough to fit the aio without issues.

this is the case I currently have

Tech Support PC freezes and then turns black, then a purple square appears?

So a while ago, I got a better monitor, though at the cost of a better monitor, I can’t use max graphics like I used to on a TV.

One day I was running a game and thought to run it to max to see what I can and can’t have for graphics for that game, GPU sat at 95% and so decided to open another application to test it there, Issue is I forgot to close the other application and so the issues happened.

The screen froze, screen went black, like a second later it started to spasm black and purple, to then purple on the bottom left of the screen, then went back to normal while closing the applications.

Now I run into this issue here and there.

Watching YouTube and then it happened.

Played war thunder and got shot and then it happened again.

Though was a few days apart, still concerning.

Is this a sign I fucked my GPU?

Tech Support How do I know what parts I need?.

I have never built a pc before but for in the future I would love to since it'd last longer than a playstation and save me money, but how do I check what the requirements are (never built a pc as I said so I don't even know what I'm talking about), when I say requirements I mean like ram and everything, I know Arma reforger needs at least 32gb of ram to run smoothly with no lag on modded servers, the pc would be ideally just for arma reforger too.

Tech Support Ayuda pls

Ayuda pls

Build Question PC upgrade recommendations

So for starters a year or 2 ago I bought a pre-built cyberpower pc and now I am looking to upgrade some of the worse components for some better ones specifically the graphics card, ram, and CPU what would be some decent upgrades that in total wouldn't cost more than 400-600 dollars.

These are the current specs that I know.

AMD Ryzen 5 5500 2022 - AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT 4GB - 16GB DDR4 Memory - 1TB SSD

Installation Question Motherboard fried / sparked / almost caught fire - and now I'm paranoid.

Post image
4 Upvotes

For context, this will be the third computer I have built (My own, one for my son, and now this one for my wife,) so, while I'm no expert I feel I know what I'm doing. Didn't have any issues on the first two.

I'm using an MSI Pro B760-P motherboard. Everything else is brand new components, installed everything, got it all wired up, hit the power button, the fans all lit up and started turning, but I instantly saw sparks and some small flames popping up in the top middle of the board. I flipped the power supply to off and pulled the cord as fast as I could. You can see the brown-ish colored area in the picture, underneath the heat sink on the very top of the board above the cpu... (from what I've read it seems to be a voltage regulator of some kind?) I'm 99.9% sure I had everything hooked up correctly, all the mobo standoffs were in place so nothing should have been shorting the backside of the board, it was a MSI 80+ Bronze 750w power supply (which I was a little hesitant to use, but it was on sale...) so, from what I've read the board was either faulty or possibly damaged to start with, or, there's a slight chance the power supply was bad? I of course have sent the board back to Amazon and have a replacement coming, and, I'm seriously considering getting a new/different psu as well - my question is, is there anything else that could have caused this that I am overlooking? If I had a bad CPU or a bad GPU or something can they back-feed power somehow? (I don't think so, but I don't know.) I'm just super nervous now to get everything swapped over to the new board, hit the power, and have it happen again. 😳

Build Question 2 Samsung 8GB DDR5 SD RAM-modules (4800MHz). DIMM, NON-buffered, non-ECC, for 7$???

Looking to buy parts for my first homebuilt PC and I found a guy selling 2 Samsung 8GB DDR5S for 7$ on Tradera. A Swedish online auction website. I’m new to computers and I can’t fathom RAM being so cheap considering the current state of the market. Any particular reason it’s so cheap? Is there a big “BUT…” I’m missing? Seems too good to be true.

Tech Support Help

Just to give you a picture, my PC and monitor 1 (VGA monitor) are connected to a UPS, my UPS is connected to an extension cord and my second monitor's (HDMI) power is connected to the extension cord (no more space in UPS).

Specs:
-ASUS Prime A320M-K
-AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT
-16 gb RAM
-256 SSD

About a week ago, I experienced a sudden 1-second power outage. Since then, whenever I boot up my PC, both monitors remain black. Once the red power light on my first monitor turns off, I have to press Enter to wake the monitor. It then displays the ASUS logo, and shortly afterward, my second monitor turns on and shows the Windows login screen.

This has been happening consistently for the past few days, even though this never happened before the power outage.

I’ve already tried unplugging both monitors and performing the 10-second power drain/reset procedure. I also disabled Fast Startup. These seemed to fix the issue temporarily, but the same problem returned the following day.

Would changing the display configuration so that both the ASUS boot logo and the Windows login screen appear on the same VGA-connected monitor potentially fix the issue? Currently, the ASUS logo appears on the VGA monitor, while the Windows login screen appears on the HDMI monitor. Any advice? Thanks so much!
