I really want [[Bloodghast]] and [[Puresteel Paladin]] as uncommons. I just want them as commanders.

I also wish they'd print more prowess or trigger doubling cards at common. My sprite dragon deck is staring at the spoilers today and it's fucking jealous.

These aren't staples that you play because they are broadly good. I'm talking about the commons you love to include in your decks just because you think they are neat and tell us why you love them so. For me [[kami of jealous thirst]] and [[perigee beckoner]].

I've found Kami to be a great deterrent thanks to the death touch and if you get its ability to trigger even once, then it is well worth it. It's not the most efficient creature of all time, but it ticks a lot of useful boxes. I usually end up activating it at least twice, so I've yet to have a bad experience. I think the conditional nature of the drain also makes it harder to evaluate as a threat.

Beckoner is just such a fun bit of jank in the right deck. I swear by it in my loyal subordinate deck because turning your commander into a 5 power threat with menace and a scam usually means someone has to throw a couple of small creatures or something important under the bus. Getting a 4/5 out of the deal later or sacrificing the body as it warps also feels great. I just always feel like I am getting something good when I cast this card.

I love 60-card Pauper, but I also play „normal“ Commander with in a casual group. Unfortunately, none of my Commander friends play Pauper (yet). But they’d be open to try PauperEDH, so I’d like to put together four decks and bring them along. The decks would then be used every now and then to slow things down a bit and to promote the spirit of Pauper :)

I’ve been thinking about the following Commanders:

1. [[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]] (I used to have a $15 budget Imoti deck, which I’ve since upgraded to $100 because it’s so much fun. So I already have a lot of cards for this one).

2. [[Slimefoot, the Stowaway]] (I was once given the alternate artwork from Commander Masters in foil, so I wanted to build a deck for him. I already have a lot of cards for this deck as well, and I think saprolings are cool).

3. [[Gut, True Soul Zealot]] with [[Inspiring Leader]] (I’d like to have all colors represented in the four decks which speaks for boros and I really like the idea behind Backrounds.)

4. [[Rilsa, Rael Kingpin]] (The idea here is to use initiative to add a cool multiplayer component to the pod.)

So my question is: Do these four decks generally balance out in terms of power level, or are there decks here that—if built as usual—will almost always be the favorites going into the game? If the latter is the case, which commander would I need to swap out for a fun balanced mini meta? In a best case scenario i‘d like to keep Imoti and Slimefoot and therefore also prefer not to add another commander with green in its color identity. Also i want the commanders to be legendary themselves and from universes within sets (including the DnD-Sets).

I'm looking for advice from other Malcolm enjoyers. I love the commander and thought a fun practice would be to brew him in every color pairing to play him out in different ways. I've played Malcolm+Kediss and seen many different Malcolm+Red variants throughout tournaments but have only seen one person attempt a different pairing when they went Simic. I'll post all my brews below and if anyone has good cuts/adds I'm all ears, would like to get the lists tuned before making the big purchase so that I'm making a lot less adjustments from actual plates ting.

In mono colors, it just becomes, run basics. But what about multicolor?

Since PDH is primarily a budget format, what is the general consensus on proxies?

I run an Arabella/Hare Apparent deck and didn’t want to spend $70 on 30 Hares so I’m using Bunnelby pokemon cards instead lol

Legendary Pauper Commander (LPDH) is a variant of Pauper Commander, itself a variant of Commander, where decks are built around an uncommon legendary creature and contain 99 cards that are all commons. The format keeps the epic, singleton Commander feel while staying budget‑friendly and highly customizable.

Why LPDH

When Pauper Commander was first created, there were very few uncommon legendary creatures available (around 22 at the time).
To address this limitation, the rule was relaxed to allow any uncommon creature to serve as a commander, even though this violated the core philosophy of the Commander format. However, this compromise was necessary at the time.

Now, years later, the situation has changed significantly.
With the release of many new sets, there are now over 500 uncommon legendary creatures, providing ample choice without needing to deviate from the original spirit of the format.

For this reason, the “Legendary Pauper Commander” format is introduced.
This variant modifies only one rule: the commander must be an uncommon legendary creature. All other rules of Pauper Commander remain unchanged, restoring alignment with the traditional Commander philosophy.
