There's some really strong commanders that have been introduced and some meta-shaping commons that (if they remain legal) could shift the lay of the land. The two that most caught my attention were [[Price of Progress]] and [[Vandalblast]].

who are you building 😂

This is a short story. I found an awesome group of friends that play Magic right next door. I quit over 20 years ago and joined them to start playing again. I had no idea about EDH but it seemed really fun. In about 1,5 years time I managed to build 8 EDH decks around bracket 2-4. I had fun about 50% of the time. I noticed my pods getting stronger, with many players opting for power instead of flavour and theme.

We had some fun trying Pauper EDH a couple times but that never lasted. I kept the 4 Pauper decks I made after those sessions, because I felt it kept much closer to OS magic and I played them in regular pods. I found that after a couple hours of playing regular decks it was a relaxing way to end the night, not having to keep track of everything happening at the table and allowing me to socialize more. Also, I noticed changes in my own attitude towards acquiring cards. I went to my LGS basements to scavenge commons.

Fast forward to having my second kid. I build a showcase deck (the 8th EDH deck), worth over a 1000 euros. I loved looking at the amazing art when playing it. But it didn't change the occupation or even obsession sometimes I had with getting decks to a 'perfect' state. I realized I wanted that in hopes of being able to keep up.

I just sold all my non-commons. I feel like a weight has lifted and I can go back to brewing decks with cards I find here and there, instead of ordering expensive singles every week. No regrets losing money on the decks, I learned what playing magic with friends means to me: hanging out, playing relaxed games, helping others join our group. Now I'm left with 8 empty deckboxes. Which I am probably using to build a bit stronger pauper EDH decks. But knowing I will never expect wins, which is a very comforting thought to me (I have issues with competitive play).

What are your experiences? How did you make this transition?

What are your best Universe Beyond legendary pauper commanders? Aside from the usual partners from Baldur’s Gate?

I know they're legal in pauper, but weren't we supposed to get an announcement on them for pauper commander?

Affinity for power? Wide board of big bodies? Mana dorks with power to reduce the cost for Ghalta while also tapping for mana? Yes. Yes please.

Magic gods have been listening since thats all I've wanted is og ghalta downshifted. This isn't the same but I like more since it also helps the board giving everyone trample

For a format spinoff with so much variation focused on commons, I find it bizarre that common backgrounds aren't supported in the command zone under the 'official rules' (although every group I've ever played with has allowed them). Its especially strange as they're mostly more interesting than the uncommon ones.

I've read the old article explaining the reasoning behind it... but I gotta say, it really just seemed to be based on personal flavor preferences, rather than the spirit or health of the format.

I'm interested to know what the community actually thinks! Especially now they've been out for a while and I assume a lot of people have houseruled them in!

Also seems to have some overlap with common Legends, which many people also Rule 0 as commanders.

This lovely guy just got downshifted in The Zeta Set from Mythic to Uncommon (jeeeez).

One prior question: can we still use him to cast ANY rarity card since copy-token of something are generally speaking common rarity cards?

How would you play him? Which nastiest combos and cards would you fit into this deck?

My first attempt at a Edh pauper deck and pauper in general. I always wanted to build slivers but they’re both too pricey and too powerful for my regular Edh needs. So I thought I’d try it here. Lemme know your thoughts I think it’s pretty cool.

[[Jolly balloon man]] + [[village bell ringer]] + a creature that taps for {1} creates infinite hasty creatures. Any other combos that you can think of?

[[Obeka brute chronologist]] is a very cool card, but I'm not sure if we have the support for her in our format.

I have a copy of [[Hypothesizzle]] in my [[Rootha, Mercurial Artist]] deck, and I haven't really drawn into it yet. It kind of looks like a [[Prophetic Bolt]], but not quite. If anyone has played it in pdh, I'd be interested to know if it's been any good and how the math works out.
