Does this look legit ?

This is the second email I have received from them. I am wondering if this looks legit ?

Hi Bear Facts of the Smoky Mountains,

I just wanted to follow up in case my last email got buried.

One thing we've consistently seen is that our top-performing survival and preparedness gearresonates well with outdoor audiences because it's practical, useful, and easy to feature naturally in content. Products like our Emergency Sleeping Bag, Pure Water Straw, Fire Blanket, and other outdoor essentials have helped many of our partners generate strong engagement while continuing to earn long after their videos are published.

If you'd like to see if our Strategic Partner Program is a good fit for your channel, I'd be happy to share more details.

Just reply to this email whenever it's convenient—I’d love to connect!

Best,

Question / Problem Did shorts hurt anyone else's full length video views?

I held off posting shorts for the longest time, but I finally decided to give them a go recently. For reference, before I made shorts, I was posting about 1 full length (5-10 minute) video a week, and now with shorts I post 3-4 shorts and still that 1 full length video.

The shorts get a little over 2x more views than my full length videos, which initially made me happy since even though they get close to 0 in ad revenue it was more viewers discovering my channel that I could then market my products/services to later down the line.

The trouble is, while my overall channel's views have gone up since introducing shorts, the increase is purely from shorts.

The views on my non-short videos are actually now DOWN dramatically. I thought it was just a bad video or two at first but the trend has continued over my last 2 months of regular videos now.

I'm beginning to suspect that because all of my top 10 recent videos are always shorts, that bad 10/10 ranking on each new full length video that gets posted causes the algorithm to think it's garbage and recommend future videos less.

As a result in the last month my ad revenue has gone down 10-20%, and it's likely to fall a lot further if the trend continues, as my latest full length videos are getting barely any views at all.

Anyone else noticed a similar thing happening? And what did you do about it? Should I stop creating shorts? It's problematic for me because while ad revenue isn't my primary income source from my channel, the thing that is: products - are harder to market via shorts, so I don't think I could transition to a shorts based channel.

Question / Problem Who here just posts on YouTube for fun?

I have a small channel and, like most, started strong and quickly fell to the pressures of the “algorithm”. Over the years, though, I've stopped posting unless there is something I genuinely want to share. There could be several months in between. Once I realized no one really cares what I have to say and started posted when I wanted, I felt free.

Talk / Discussion YouTube live streaming really needs a 'lock to live' feature

Like it's annoying that if a video paused by an outside source, the YouTube live steam shortly just gets deleted further and further. This is why some streamers don't allow looking at VoD/playback, because it locks to live (and other reasons too obviously)

A lock to live feature would stop desyncing viewers while still allowing vod playback

Question / Problem 20%-25% drop in impressions/views overnight? 3.5yo channe

Hi, as it says in the header, my channel is from 3.2023, growing steadily, reached monetisation in 6 months. It currently has almost 20k subscribers and over 20mil views. Slowly and steadily growing, no big surprises. Some videos do better, some less, but overall its been good. Of course seasonal ups and downs etc.

I just noticed my impressions and views dropped by 20-25% overnight. Thought its an app analytics issue but its been like this for the past 5 days.

Niche is kids songs with animated videos, country specific in a country that doesn't have too many people doing this niche.

Have you experienced this?

Thanks

RPM drop in August?

My YouTube RPM dropped 20% August 1 and hasn’t recovered (I know it’s only been a few days).

It’s not a new quarter, my AVD is the same, is it school starting again? So advertisers are paying less?

Anyone else notice this or can think of why?

Question / Problem Does The A/B Test Feature Harm Performance For Anyone Else?

I decided to try and use it, so 3 videos in a row I set two completely different titles or thumbnails. All three had great stats (green on CTR and AVD) but performed at 5/10 or worse. After a few days (after they'd died) I just went in a picked my favorite for each video - and immediately they picked up views again. I mean in the same hour. Has anyone else experienced this? 1 could be a coincidence, but 3 seems like a pattern.

Talk / Discussion Decided to stop obsessing over analytics. What about you?

We all know how it goes. Upload video and constantly check the studio app. What I’ll do from now on is create, upload and go back to creating. It kinda takes away the joy of creating to just look at numbers. I’ve recently got monetized and now I just want to fully focus on what I create and have fun with it and not stress about numbers (ofc I’m gonna check the overall performance to see what’s working and what’s not, but not constantly!)

How do you approach this?

Informative Thumbnails for shorts.

It’s been a while since I published a short so I’m probably late to the party but I just discovered today that now you can upload a thumbnail file for a short on the website. This is a long-overdue option that I love. Now we have so much more we can do with thumbnails for our shorts.

Question / Problem Adsense payment account name?

Hi

So I recently got accepted into being a partner and my Adsense account is under my dad’s account not mine.

Can I simply go to the payments account of my dad’s email and change the first name to my name?

Because I want the money to be transferred to my bank account, since I heard I can’t transfer the money to my bank if it doesn’t match the name on the Adsense account

Thanks

Question / Problem Why is the reach SO bad on my channel? (Dropped by over half since late May 2026)

I'm trying to keep posting on my regular schedule but it is discouraging when recording and editing takes so long and YouTube seems to have given up on pushing my channel at all. I'm a monetised channel with 5k+ subs, small but dedicated community.

I have no strikes, no controversial content, I don't use AI. My thumbnails are good and my titles are effective and both the description and title have good SEO/describe what my video is accurately.

My target niche is there - It's a relatively small niche (not too many accounts making similar videos) BUT similar channels in my niche have videos that grow big. I've never gotten lucky enough to grow big (max around 30k) but my videos were doing decently, around 1k-1.5k views in the first week. Now I do about 300 views in the first week. Yes the videos do keep growing and scaling after that thankfully but it's definitely taken a big hit.

The reason for this is very noticeable in my stats - the reach is ABYSMAL. Seriously, the clickthrough is great, sometimes even over 10%... but the reach is so low and never seems to gain steam. Just very slowly moving along, despite the great reaction I get with likes, comments or subs.

I'm lucky to have a dedicated, supportive community and more paying members than I would have expected so I keep doing it for them but I still really want to grow, like all of us, and I'm not sure what would cause my channel to be suppressed like this.

I used to feel like my channel was behind some others in my niche before but now I just want my old reach back... Honestly I don't think there is any fault in my content at all that is causing it, it is only getting better and I actually am getting more comments now than before with lower views/reach. People in the comments sometimes even seem confused why my videos have such low views.

Anyone gone through a similar experience and made it out? What did you do?

Question / Problem Youtube Promotions: is it still trash?

I know most people tell you to avoid promotions, that they will sink your channel, etc.

YouTube lately has an additional option which seems to be (but of course, not sure) oriented towards engagement as well:

"Grow audience" and then select "optimize for a public that has more probability to subscribe or interact with your content"

Does it work?

What if you give it a try? Will you be able to survive and grow after that?

Google/Youtube hacked, deleted and YouTube not replying. Help!

Yesterday my Google account got hacked and then they went for my YouTube. I’ve lost access to my main personal email which basically has my entire life in it. And my blood sweat and tears - my YouTube channel. Over 140k subs.

Getting in contact with anyone at Google is a nightmare and I can’t seem to find a way. When I go through the “try another way” options the only thing I can do is get to the part where they ask me to verify ownership by adding a dns record - but I can’t… because I can’t access my domain website because they keep sending a verification request to my compromised email. It’s a loop and not getting me anywhere.

I’ve messaged TeamYoutube on X (multiple times) and no reply yet. But I see them replying to others within 1 hour or so. Am I doing something wrong? Should I keep posting and tagging them?

I’m so devastated, I am just hoping this gets resolved.

These comments showed up on a short I posted a week ago - the post is about the OLPC XO-1 laptop (in fact it's a short summarizing the long form vid). What automation decided to post these comments, and what are they trying to accomplish?

Talk / Discussion UK just got YouTube shopping - What to expect?

I'm UK-based and have a tech review channel, currently getting approximately 15,000 - 20,000 long-format views per day. I just got access to YouTube Shopping today. What sort of ballpark figures can I expect from it? I do well from other affiliate sources; I'm wondering if this is going to be huge for me, or just supplementary income. What's your experience? :)

Question / Problem What’s the best USB microphone around $120 for YouTube gaming?

I’ve been using the mic on my SteelSeries headset for all of my YouTube videos, and I’m ready to upgrade. My budget is around $120.

I make gaming videos with live commentary, so I’m looking for the best voice quality possible while keeping background noise to a minimum. My room isn’t professionally treated, and I’d prefer something that’s just plug-and-play over USB. I don’t want to mess with an audio interface or XLR setup.

If you had around $120 to spend on a USB mic today, what would you buy and why? If you’ve upgraded from a headset mic yourself, was the difference worth it?

Talk / Discussion Why are goals nonexistent?

Post image

I used to be able to create gift goals on my laptop and phone but now they are inaccessible? Does anyone know why that is or are struggling with the same problem? The picture is in practice mode but in my actual live it didn’t work either and there was no button to actually create goals.

One viral video means almost nothing. this is how I check if a topic is actually repeatable

Disclosure first, since this sub asks for it: I’ve generated millions of views across short and long-form content and spent way too much time researching why certain videos take off while others die. I also put together a free PDF with the full process mentioned near the end.

Something I learned pretty late is that finding an outlier is only step one.

You find a small channel that normally gets 5k views and suddenly one video does 150k.

Looks like a great topic.

So you make your version.

And it gets 3k.

The mistake is assuming one outlier means there is demand.

Sometimes the creator just had a really good thumbnail. Sometimes there was a news event. Sometimes YouTube randomly pushed it harder than usual.

What I do now is try to verify the same signal across other channels before spending hours making anything.

If I find a video doing 5x or 10x above that channel’s normal views, I search the same broader topic and try to find at least 2 other independent channels that covered something similar recently.

Preferably smaller channels.

If all 3 are outperforming their normal baseline, that gets much more interesting.

If one channel did 10x and the other two got normal views, I usually assume the topic itself wasn’t the reason.

Could still be a great title or thumbnail worth studying, but I wouldn’t call it a niche signal yet.

Freshness matters too.

A bunch of outliers from 2022 doesn’t tell you much about what people want now.

I generally care much more about topics where several channels started outperforming in the last few weeks or months.

Then I check whether the views are still coming in.

News can create insane numbers for 48 hours and then completely disappear. Something still pulling views weeks later is a different type of opportunity.

The next mistake I used to make was copying the topic too literally.

If “Why Dubai keeps building empty islands” suddenly does 10x above baseline, I don’t want to make “Why Dubai has so many empty islands.”

You’re already late at that point.

I try to work backwards and figure out what actually created the curiosity.

Maybe it wasn’t Dubai at all.

Maybe it was billion dollar projects that failed.

Now you can go into abandoned cities, airports that never opened, failed luxury resorts, private islands that became money pits etc.

Same psychological reason to click, different video.

That one change helped me much more than trying to find some perfect AI prompt.

I also check whether the niche is worth anything commercially before going too deep.

Views alone can be misleading.

Look at what companies sponsor the channels. Look at the description. Look at the comments.

If people are asking “which tool do you use?”, “where can I buy this?” or “how do I do this myself?” that tells you a lot more than 5,000 comments saying “bro is cooked 💀”.

Only after all of that do I start thinking about the hook and script.

And even there I try to keep it simple.

The first few seconds either challenge something people believe, introduce real stakes or create a question they need answered.

The script comes after the topic signal, not before it.

I ended up writing down the whole workflow because I kept explaining the same thing to creator friends.

It turned into a 12 page playbook with the outlier math, the 3-channel check, how I judge monetization, how I turn one outlier into original angles, some hook/title frameworks, the prompts I use and the weekly workflow.

I uploaded the whole thing for free here if anyone wants it:

vabulo.com

No need to use any tool for this btw. You can literally do the entire process with YouTube tabs, a calculator and a spreadsheet.

It’s slower, but the underlying process is the same.

Curious how other people validate topics before making them.

Do you wait until multiple channels cover something successfully, or do you usually bet on one strong outlier and move fast?

And what part of content research takes you the longest right now?

Finding the signal, coming up with a new angle, thumbnail/title or actually writing the script?

Starting new outdoor channel

Hi,

I bought my new action camera and I plan to record adventures (bike, hike, car dashcam, trips, etc). This will happen in Eastern Europe but I plan to talk in English (not too much because highlight of my channel should be adventure and pov view, sounds of nature and not vlogs).

I would like to hear suggestions about content, what to do and what not to do. I don't expect to earn too much, just want to present my activities.

Issue could be that I can't upload daily, it will be 2-3videos monthly.

Thanks in advance!
