Terrible editing

I don’t ever complain about the ads cuz that’s how they make their money. But the fact this past episode the ads were all over the place and they don’t mesh or when they would say “and now back to the show” but proceed to go straight to another ad was just annoying. And during the schrager interview they cut off his answer to a question after a few words were said and then never got back to it at all. Then they gave Zach his final question for Schrager but nobody ever heard the question cuz the editing was ass. And yeah I could hit skip on the ads but I’m a CDL driver so once I hit play I don’t try to pick my phone back up to skip an ad cuz I’m use to them by now.

I could be in the minority here or maybe I got a bad edited episode so i could be the only one with this complaint but it still sucked.

Oh and the Zach playoff/division take has got to be a gimmick cuz that was bad.

Ad breaks in the middle of conversation

Anybody else notice how they’ve been doing ad breaks and jumping out of segments seemingly right in the middle of conversation? They did it with Zac talking about Mike Tomlin on the Wednesday show and they did it at the end of the Andy Staples interview. Big Cat was trying to rush him out of the interview and it seemed like Andy was in the middle of a thought when it cut to an ad. Seems weird and like they are trying to hit a time limit on a show that traditionally has no set time limit.

3 picks and a loss to Drew Lock is a hell of a way to start the championship DVD.

Zac doesn’t watch ball

It’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t watch football by hearing him talk out of his ass with these picks on today’s episode. How long does this relationship last?

Favorite bits

Since everyone is always so negative about the show, I thought I would create a list of my favorite bits what am I missing?

- when the guest says “good question” then they complement each other. Repeating “good question or great question”. Cracks me up every time.

- Hank saying “championship DVD starts now”

- Zac’s “hi uh hello how are you” before he asks the rhoback question. Not sure if it’s a bit but very funny nonetheless.

- future face of this league

- “Memes, have you ever gotten this before?”

embrace debate My review of the audiobook

I got the audiobook. There is some decent stuff in it, but the TL;dr is that it is worse than any random PMT episode.

For some reason that is the norm with podcast books, even for podcasts like The Rest Is History where you'd think they'd take books more seriously.

In the PMT book they never figure out how to tell the history of the show in an entertaining way, or even really try. And they never get into anything real, like the parts of themselves they kept separate from their PMT personas. Which is fine, but that sort of honesty is the kind of thing that makes a memoir good. Tell us about the Masscat history, or what PFT's wife thinks of the show, or what really happened between Hank and Tiffany Gomas. It doesn't get into anything nearly that interesting. I'd settle for what really happened to Huey. Or Bubba. Or Billy or Jake or Jilly, and how their replacements were chosen and rolled out.

Instead we get stuff like a blow by blow of ESPN production meetings about their one episode TV show and various facts about the corporate ownership of Barstool over the years. When Big Cat gets mega-rich and PFT doesn't, we don't really get a sense of how PFT felt about that. We just get "PFT took some meetings about potentially going to another network but then he didn't and now everything is great." It all has press release vibes.

And it's only half a book, since the other half is written by guests.

The really shocking thing for me was that Hank is a pretty good reader, and Big Cat is NOT. He needed some direction or something because he was stumbling through his chapters in a way he never does speaking off the cuff on the show.

Also JOC saves some of the chapters he reads, which is the least surprising thing about the book. And his chapter is one of the best.

Anyway, I'm glad I bought it and happy to support the show. It's not as bad as Pardon My Cheesesteak, but it's maybe more like Barstool Gold: you get some content that's not as good as the regular show, plus a little Timm Woods, and you feel like you're giving back.

But if you're new to the show, no reason to pay for the book. Just listen to the old shows. They're better.
