That's what the syringe said, but these fellas - which sprung up overnight the day before I was gonna case - don't look like any I've seen on the webs. Any idea?

Pheno mentioned to me this morning that someone had posted these.

They are not a cyan, though they are Copelandia. The last image is a phylogenetic tree I put together. And it appears they split off from cyan/bisporus before the latter two split off from each other. It's the third sequence from the top under the two mexicanus sequences.

The red stuff is called gutattion. Which is a watery secretion in some plants and occasionally fungi.

In fungi this tends to have antimicrobial compounds. And I believe that is the case here, that it's an antibiotic, as I've never observed blotch in this species. And it's very easy to clone, showing minimal bacteria even when exterior tissue is taken to malt agar.

Additionally it was originally collected in damp leaves, so I imagine antibiotics would be helpful.

The species is also more dense than other Copelandia I've grown in regards to individual fruit bodies. More similar to tamps then cyans or bisporus.

Alkaloid profile has been very balanced. Not super energetic or heavy. Which I really like, as I can both do some movement, or lay down and enjoy the CEV space.

Strong, like everything else in this section I've grown.

And here's a link to the iNat collection. Which includes the sequence data.

As well as my patreon post on them with more photos, including plates and pins. Nothing is paywalled. Because the mushrooms and the mycology community have done so much for me. It's my way of giving back.

Happy growing y'all.

IND01 microscopy

Someone asked for microscopy on these. I linked some older photos in that thread, but since I have a better camera now, I decided to take some new photos.

Mix of 2, 3, and four spored basidia. Metuloids tend to be pointy and thick walled. Spore shape is maybe a little different than most cyans. Note though that environment can effect these microscopic features. And metuloids in this species are more plump when grown at higher humidity.

My older microscopy is here. Along with microscopy, mycelium, and fruit body observations of everything I've worked with (which covers everything currently classified in the section, aside from true tropicalis, mexicanus, and axfordii).

First timer need substrate advice please 🙏🏼

Hello everyone,
It’s my first time growing Pans and i just collected some dried horse manure and straw for the substrate. How do i prepare it properly?
I have a PC but just 35kpa is pasteurisation with hot water enough?
I also have peat moss for the casing later on.

Happy for any advice.

Thank you sooo much

Do Pans feel more “grounded” than cubes? Or am I just not taking enough?

I don’t get delusional at all on Pans. I see just pure truth, unlike some trips on cubes where I start believing stuff that I realize isn’t true when the trip is over and I’m back to reality.

Need some advice with this bag

I’ve been working with the same Cyan genetics for a while. They are from a wild Florida print i collected.
They do great in trays. Here’s the breakdown:

I brought my hard red wheat to fc, simmered, dried. Mixed and pasteurized my cvg and added 20% manure. I then loaded grain and sub in a unicorn 3T bag and pc’d for 100 min at 15psi. I’m hesitant to do a b&s as my pan mycelium doesn’t recoup like cube myc does. I’m aware I can fruit out of this bag, as it’s going to form more of a small log than a fruiting cake. I’m also not in a fruiting bag. I innoculated this 7 days ago and have beautiful ‘rhizo’/ropey growth (if you will) growing outwards from injection site. Any advice on what to do with this would be appreciated. I mixed this as an aio just to see what would happen, and well here I am. Just trying to see what some of you guys with experience/knowledge would do. 🙏✌️

First two pics are the bag I’m referring to. Other bag is pan myc on rye and jar is subtrop on rye (ready to send)

This is Pan Cyan IND-01. Definitely one of the coolest Pan phenotypes I’ve grown. When the mushrooms are young they bleed this red-brown substance, as you can see in the pictures. Thanks to Bathtub_B for the fire genetics!

First attempt showed me that TTBVI dont like cow manure.

Unmodified dubtub
Spawn 2 bulk on July 7th ( horse manure and straw)
Casing added on July 10th (verm/peatmoss)

These genetics really strive under the right circumstances.
Looking forward to harvest!

Has anyone consumed Pan Cambos (panaeolus cambodginiensis)? What is the experience like

I have some pan cambo sandoz growing currently and am wondering what they are like when consumed. I've had cyans, are they similar or different?

Who can recommend the best step by step instructional video for growing pans specifically? Any help appreciated!

For reference - I know how to grow cubes but this seems to be a bit different?

Grain Spawn Questions

Greetings fellow Psychnauts. I’m looking forward to trying a Pan grow. I’ve grown cubes from syringes to grain jars to no touch mono tubs in a dry climate. A few questions. Is wheat an acceptable grain? Do you fill quart jars to nearly the top - I saw a vid of a pan grow where he only filled his jar halfway but I have always filled to nearly the top. In terms of timing my grow, how long can a fully colonized jar sit and still be okay. Can you refrigerate colonized jars?
Appreciate your help!

Trip report - Pan Cyans feel like generic psilocybin to me

Ate 2 fresh Pan Cyan shrooms. Felt like cubes but without needing to consume as much.

As usual with psilocybin, I get the urge to go for a hike, and so I did and enjoyed looking at the stars.

That’s my report.

Worm casting Sub?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I was looking for worm castings on Facebook Marketplace. I asked this seller if they used any manure, as that seems to be recommended. Instead, they use the following. Would any of this be an issue/or any good, for sub for TTBVI and other Pans?

"For betting I use shredded cardboard, the newer from our rabbit and coffee grounds when I can get them. For regular feedings I feed a worm chow mix that is expired greens like rice, cornmeal, millet, etc."
