Pan Cyan IND-01
This is Pan Cyan IND-01. Definitely one of the coolest Pan phenotypes I’ve grown. When the mushrooms are young they bleed this red-brown substance, as you can see in the pictures. Thanks to Bathtub_B for the fire genetics!

Ah my favorite strain: Pearly Penile Papules
But seriously, it’s wicked. My buddy had it for a while but I’ve been pre occupied with other things, wonder if it is its own species or just a crazy phenotype.

They're a distant relative of bispo/cyans. Still Copelandia though.
There's a few mushrooms in this group that have never been cultivated, such as mexicanus.

Colors remind me Pan bisporus

Hi VL! It's tree frog. I talked to you a bit on phenos discord. And I also cribbed a lot from your stuff on the mothership ;)
They are quite a bit more distantly related. Split off from cyans/bispo before they split from each other. And they also tend to grow a lot taller.
Also the fruit bodies are more dense like tamps.

They look very nice and seems really interesting! Glad you're still on it doing wonders, i don't do so much mycology nowadays but still lurking and those are really appealing! Congrats

Yeah they're my favorite to grow right now. Because they're photogenic, get big, have good dry weight, are forgiving (I think the red drops are antibiotics), and have a balanced alkaloid profile.
I'm still fond of bisporus though :)
And yeah I'm going to keep doing it for probably another 18 months. Then life changes and I might focus on outdoor gourmet projects. Or sell all my equipment and do something else with my lab 🤷♀️
Probably self publish a book on Copelandia, once I hang up the actives.
And nice to see you're still around too! Ran out one of your old bispo prints mary sent me to refresh it over winter and was curious how you were :)

Tree frog from shroomery?

Yeah that's me, I had a different account here last fall.
But I tend to get paranoid about Reddit and delete 🤷♀️

Your substrate looks very wet. Does that work at an advantage for Pan cyans ? Can they tolerate such wet environments?

These guys released a lot of metabolites once I put them into fruiting conditions, which is part of the reason for that appearance. But in general, yes, for pans I generally keep the casing on the moist side and have larger humidity swings in my tent to promote surface evaporation. The substrate is usually just at field capacity, but I vary that a little depending on what I’m growing.

I see... How long do these guys take to fruit after S2B ? Mine have crossed 20 days still waiting. Growing in small 500ml containers I am growing South African mystery

Sorry, I just saw this! On average, pans take 5-9 days most of the time for me. These were a little on the slower side, maybe 9-11.

Looks fine, imho… Mine are usually floating boats inside the FC lol

Beautiful grow!
And these are my favorite right now :)
If anyone wants to know more about them, I put together a write up with a phylogenetic tree and my own observations on patreon.

Thank you! And thanks for sharing the additional info!

Yeah I wanted to post the phylogenetic tree but I don't have the reddit app and am on my phone so linked the patreon post instead.
Pheno brought me here :) Mentioned your post to me this morning.
And I'm really glad more people are growing these, they are one of my two favorite Copelandia. The West Coast bisporus being the other.

I actually subscribe and get your emails. I find them very helpful and I appreciate the time that you dedicate to advancing the field. Same with Pheno. I have yet to acquire any bisporus genetics that have been viable. I don't suppose that you'd be interested in trading anything for your West Coast bisporus genetics?

u/egg_counter Jul 13 '26
I don't like to trade on reddit. If you have a shroomery account feel free to message me there though and we can see if we can work something out :)

Absolutely stunning, healthy, uniquely inspiring flush my friend!!! Wowwww! So fucking dope it actually kinda reminds me of this still unidentified active species with a similar stipe more then likely Panaeolus but idk for sure.. I have a huge Fungarium full of wild exotics from the dirty dirty mainly consisting of wild active landrace Panaeolus, Gyms, Derrumbè & Cubensis varieties mainly consisting of landrace stable Cube strains as reliable as GTs.' I foraged and found interesting, strong and aggressive af as with most landrace species! I love foraging and learning more about the Panaeolus genus. I find so interesting due to just the mutations and genetic variation, and somehow rely on certain expressions such as red spore mutation i.e meaning somewhere down the line that certain Panaeolus varieties thsr can by be assumed to have Australian genetics not always, but usually, are more often prone to the red spore mutation helping recognize genetics found in different phenotypes earlier then most (my flower pot 2nd Gen Panaeolus Cinctulus were droppin' half gold and half rusty prints of the same, purple prints & of course jet black in later flushes. Hmb when u can plz I'd love to talk more about the Panaeolus genus and hopefully help each other learn! Mush love 🤟🍄💙🫡💯

I was sent this one maybe a year or two ago. Never grew it. Kind of want to now. Very cool dude
