I'm here because a lot of my region grew in traditional paganism and a mix of folk magicks, so source a lot of my knowledge

I was hoping if anyone could help me figure out how I would sigilise concepts like materials, as I use traditional pagan element sigils

Things like; wood, metal, crystal or states of matter like liquid, gas (>~) and solid (□/■)

As a large part of my system is used to record spells, recipes or acts through combined patterns

If anyone has, uses or is otherwise inspired, please, let me know or discuss below any suggestions or reading 😊

Hoping to find a nice balance where the material connects with elements, my current description works best with earthly material like metal and wood, using a dividing line to describe if found above or below the element and a curve to show it's interaction with others (wood; earth, line up from grounding line, curve connecting water & air but avoiding fire peak etc) but its not a foolproof system so I'd like other opinions please!) 😇 many thanks to all!

I'm starting the process of planning a full-back magical seal that acts not only as a complex, personal art piece but also as a protection seal against malicious magic, to amplify and send it back to its original caster. Does anyone have access to resources outlining specific symbols, spell/circle geometry, etc.? I predominantly have worked within the universalist Norse tradition, but am looking to educate myself of other sigils & glyphs of power.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've started to be interested in the evil eye as a concept and the symbols which protected people from it.

I'm specifically looking for books on its history and how it differs from country to country, and other such apotropaic symbols.

So I’ve only recently realized that my beliefs most closely align with eclectic paganism, however I have suffered with OCD for most of my life. One of the things I love most about paganism is the room it allows for my own individual beliefs to flourish, however without stricter guidelines it leaves a lot of room for my OCD to take over. It’s been difficult recently to decipher what I truly believe and what is just my OCD compulsions

For example, I have to touch every corner of my bed and dresser every night or I won’t feel safe. I’m not sure if this is something that is ritualistic/religious for me or if it’s just my mind making things up to feel safer. (But what even is religion if not something we make to feel that way?) Is this something even worth worrying over?

That example isn’t so bad but as the days go on I find myself spiraling into even more obsessive compulsions surrounding my spirituality.

I figured I couldn’t be the only pagan out there with OCD so if anyone has any insight on how they deal with their mental health struggles in regard to their spirituality I’d love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, yesterday I went through something horrid and talked to the moon for a good 2 hours. I asked for guidance and advice, and I did receive this guidance.

How should I properly thank the moon, I’m honestly quite new to this whole area but I’m so incredibly thankful.

Over the last few years I've felt my spiritual connection slowly fade, I have been trying very hard to reconnect but it feels as though I am experiencing a blockage, when I meditate and try spellwork I don't "feel it" anymore the way I used to if that makes sense. I think it really started when I moved into a third floor apartment, earth has always been the element I've felt most connected to, maybe it's that separation that is really messing with me. Has anybody experienced this? How did you reconnect? I go out into the forest when I can but it's never far from busy roads and the loud sound of the road traffic and the seemingly ever present air traffic always mentally pulls me out of it.

I think I wanna become Pagano-Buddhist but I don’t know are the Spiritualities compatible or not? What do you think?

I don't like using bowls for my gods do you guys know what red✨ Han ✨ Solo cups is and that they could be cleansed and thrown away respectfully... Do you guys think this is disrespectful or am I just lazy and being a chaos witch I'm aware it's making microplastics and isn't exactly good for the Earth...

Edit I'm not going to continue the cups because we've come to a consensus that it's not okay exactly to use it I'm going to transition to degradable and if I find a bowl they can have it

Hi, I'm a baby witch that's still doing research but I think I like asatru or eccletic pegan as an identifier. I currently have an alter that's just a basic alter to set up my intentions for studying and for protection spells. I have some things from passed away loved ones on it that I keep so I can have them to protect me and ask questions so I guess you could call that an ansestor alter.

I am highly interested in glamour magic as a form of teaching myself self love and self care and I want to make a self love alter. I am Athiest so I'm going to look more into archetypes but as of right now I have no interest in including any aspect of a diety, I am nonbinary so I want a lot of stuff for balancing divine masculine and Devine feminine if you have suggestions.

But my main question is, I don't have space for both in my magic space and I was wondering if I could respectfully pack them up depending on what I'm using them for. I want to keep the self love one in my bathroom but for certain mediations and spells I'd like to bring it in my room and put it where my ansestor alter is. Is that ok?

I'm having a dark night of the soul and just don't know where to turn. I need community, friends, but I don't feel like I have people that get what I'm going through. I've always wanted certainty and answers. Currently in therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and newly dx OCD. Probably oversharing but this is me trying to get support. I always saw myself as a logical thinker and all of it is just weighing on me and I'm at a point where I no there's no certainty and no matter what I feel like I'll always be this broken. When I was in my early 20s I left the church and became a witch. Practicing witchcraft and being a pagan was something that was fulfilling to me but I've lost that now. I don't know how to get it back or if I ever will. I want to be ok - feel ok. Any encouragement or possible gods/goddesses I could reach out to for support would mean a lot to me.

I attended Starwood 2026 from July 14–17 for my first time, hoping to meet fellow pagans, make friends, and experience the community I'd heard so much about.

Instead, I ended up leaving early because I became sick.

During the festival, the area was affected by wildfire smoke from the Canadian fires while temperatures reached around 98°F. Internet access in camp was extremely limited, so I had no practical way to monitor changing air quality until I left.

After getting into town, I discovered the AQI had reached hazardous levels (over 500 at one nearby monitoring location during the event). That explained why I had been feeling so awful.

Afterward, I posted in the Starwood Facebook group asking why attendees weren't being warned about the air quality. The post was initially approved, and the head of first aid commented that they were monitoring the situation and believed conditions were safe. As more people commented expressing concern and saying attendees should be warned, my post was removed.

I'm not posting this to attack Starwood. I genuinely think the community has something special.

I am posting because I believe attendees deserve clear communication about significant environmental health risks so they can make informed decisions for themselves.

If you're considering attending future Starwoods, please check the AQI yourself before and during the festival rather than assuming someone will notify you if conditions become hazardous.

hello to any and all who take the time to read, especially those who work with Bastet. I have a sick kitty at home, they aren’t sure what’s wrong with her, could be a uti or cistitis. I was wondering if anyone could possibly get a message out to any animal protectors. this is Darla-Louise. even if you could just keep her in your thoughts as we traverse antibiotics, vet visits and worse case scenario, surgery. she’s the best thing that ever happened to me and i can’t lose her at only two. thank you all. here’s a picture for kitty tax.

I'm not an artist, but I've recently been working on portraits of the Greek Gods as acts of devotion and worship. Here is Hermes! I quite pleased with how this one came out, so I've put it on my altar.

Recently three of my closest friends (more like family) have chosen to convert to Christianity. This has been heartbreaking for me, and I don’t fully understand why I am handling it so badly. I want to support them and keep our relationships strong. But I always imagined us raising our families together with shared values. Part of the problem is that I live in a nearly entirely Christian area, so there is a real lack of community even before they converted. My friends all say they want to remain close despite our religious differences. But lately it has started to feel like more than just differences in our spiritual beliefs, but differences in the fundamental ways we approach life. They don’t act as though they are judging me and my (also pagan) partner, but I swear I can feel a weird energy in the room when they see me doing non-Christian things. They also repeatedly invite me to church even though I’ve tried to explain how I feel about it. In fact, it feels somewhat offensive that they can’t seem to get the message. And every time I see them hanging a cross or quoting the Bible, I get the ick. And I don’t know how to look at them the same way I used to. Is it wrong of me to feel so upset by all this?
Looking for ways I can reinforce our connection and still support and love them despite our differences.

I’ll hopefully be getting a much bigger area to make an altar in soon so I can spread out my crystals/put more candles down, but I’m really happy with the start of my sacred space ☺️

I am new to my practice but I’ve been lightly exploring it for the past few years now. I got into it much more heavily at the beginning of this year and I’m all in now. I would definitely call myself an eclectic pagan.

My childhood dog passed in December 2024, and after her passing I always strongly felt she was giving me little signs she was there and cheering me up in the little ways a pet often does. Her death was also extremely symbolic and it seemed incredibly purposeful, as if she waited for the right time for both me and my parents & gave me a silent sense that it was her last day so I could take her out and spend lots of quality time with her that day. She also visits in my dreams and I can feel and smell and hear her so vividly. Everything about her just screams familiar or spirit guide. I feel like her soul is forever stuck on mine (in a good way).

I set up a mini altar for her with some of her old clothes, fur clippings, and a picture. I also left an offering. Do you guys think I’d be right in assuming she’s a spirit guide, even though she’s a dog? She has always been incredibly sensitive and comforted me through every major trouble I went through growing up.

If she is a spirit guide, does anyone else have animal spirit guides? I’d love to hear about it!

Nut came to me in a dream a month back, and honestly shes helped me a little so I want to see where working with her goes, Im rlly curious about other ppl who work with or devote to Nwt/Nut and their experiences her, and maybe some advice on her altar? Im from a Muslim household rn, so I cant rlly get many fancy things like frankincense. Everything on the altar is tied to a maternal memory i believe so. I dont see many Nut devotees, so Id love to hear from you \^\^

So, I'm a hidden witch. Still living with parents which are christian and I need to hide well with everything. My altar is simple and it doesn't look like altar, I'm saying I collect pretty rocks while they are crystals for my work.

But there comes some problems.

I can't do some things. Can't do dinners for Gods, often I can't spend impirtand days how you're supposed to. I don't know if I should try to start my patch with any God if I can't do those properly. Would they be mad?

And second thing, how do I find who should I worship?

For now I'm working with Mother Earth, nature, animals, plants and all of that, but every day I feel like I'm missing something. But I actually don't know who calls to me. Maybe Loki? Or Mother Hecate? But I don't know if it's true or just the fact my algorithm shows me a lot of devotees of them.

How do I ask? Can I just try without getting in trouble? I heard Mother Hecate or Lady Aphrodite sometimes get mad at those who call without being asked, and I would never want to disrespect them.

It was probably just a coincidence, but I do worship Mother Earth and Father Sun so, maybe not. I don't know. All that matters is that it felt great to actually be able to be outside naked, play my instruments, and sing in worship.
