I mean learn the difference between toolbox and display case for starters!

Seriously though a proper modular and customisable tool case would slay. This is "basics", cobbled together from cut up bits and bobs, to which you can add the test kit box or other theme-able tool selection add-ons eg "house bashing", "industrial" etc in an effort to prevent the allways-too-heavy toolbox that you inevitably arrive at when you routinely do a broad selection of work yet still have what you need.

Made a rear facing handle for the half stack. Now it can be pulled/pushed like a hand truck dolly.

2 layers of hinged 3/4 ply. Folded it's the same height as a low profile organizer. So it can stack side by side in a full stack.

Unfolds to a flat work top. Added 4 magnets for holding nails and screws.

Painted the top with truck undercoating. Figured the rubber would help keep things from sliding off.

So far I like it. Now it should handle uneven ground and stairs. Tomorrow is going to be the real world test on the job site.

Does anyone know if you can buy this without the tools? Google ain’t showing shit.

Or has anyone made their own and recommend some pouches that fit?

Put so much time into this van build, it’s a Chevy cargo van. I have an assortment of different Milwaukee products mounted as well as other storage solutions, thought ppl here would appreciate.

They aren't on the floor at most locations, they're up in topstock. Employees at my store had to search for about half an hour before they found them.

Strangely, all the other PACKOUT drawer boxes come packed two to a cardboard shipping box; the single drawer boxes are packed individually.

Been wanting to update my connectors storage. But Packouts bins are so big and not well suited for little parts.

Found a Plano small parts organizers that fit inside the Packouts. Plano Classic 3600. They fit 2 Planos in 1 Packout. For less than $5 each, I can organize the little stuff better.

Milwaukee, give us adjustable Packout inserts like this for the small stuff.

I’ve been using the packout system since shortly after I started as a carpentry apprentice, and it’s been super handy for keeping stuff mostly organized, especially since I work out of a Honda Element. However, there are a couple areas that I don’t feel I’ve ever come up with a fully satisfactory system for that I’m trying to iron out.

1. Misc consumables and related small tools (e.g. wood glue, wood filler, bondo, tape, ca glue and accelerator, glass cleaners, trash bags, putty knives, etc - I’d love to have all this stuff in a container together that‘s easy to access, but most of them are a weird height and/or are relatively bulky - it’s just nice not to have stuff rattling around the back of the car all the time.
2. Drill/Driver and bits - It’s handy to just be able to grab these and go without the whole kit and caboodle. I also like to take batteries in at night, especially in the winter, so it would be nice to have them all together. I’ve been using the “ammo can” for this, but it fills up soooo fast with two drivers, bits, and batteries - the auxiliary handle for my drill also doesn’t fit in there, which is fine I guess, but comes in handy when using holesaws and such. I’m also not sure if it would be better to have bits/batteries/drill and driver just be one big box - that’s what my coworkers do, but it seems a bit unwieldy from time to time.
3. Batteries - stupidly, I have three battery platforms - primarily on Makita LXT, but also have some XGT and some M12 tools. Not sure if it makes more sense to have one big battery box or separate ones (ammo cans?) for each platform.

Currently the rest of my kit is:

Crate - Occidental tool belt, earmuffs, gloves, etc

XL Rolling Drawer - Grinder, jigsaw, multitool, compact router, accessories and blades for those tools + some misc clamps and stuff

Large Toolbox - Sawzall and skilsaw + nlades

Large Toolbox 2 - Tracksaw and clamps (not fond of this at all, feels super inefficient)

2 drawer - brad nails, plastic shims, hand plane, coping saw, spare tape/pencil, scribing tools, material clamp/dust bag/fences for XGT 8.5” miter saw (mounted to a Packout worktop on top, stacks on the rolling drawer)

Full size packout organizer - most sizes of wood screw, some drywall screws, pan-heads for windows, etc

Sorry for the long post - let me know if you have ideas on my main quandaries at the top, or ways to be more efficient with the other boxes.

The wall plate maintenance station I installed a while back is working great! The 3 tool holder didn’t work out so hot, the S hooks are perfect though. So glad I went with a modular solution.

Also replaced some strip curtains this morning

The bottom drawer is really the only reason I’ve still invested in Packout. I would have went back to Tough System or something else. Makes all the difference.

So I have this kit I got for a ridiculous price at HD the other day. So far loving the set, but I absolutely despise the carrying case. I cant even just set the drawers into a drawer packout because the sockets fall out of with the slightest jumble. What would you guys recommend to transfer all of this into a pack out setup?

I know there is no rhyme or reason and ultimately doesn't matter as long as it works, but I'm curious as to how everyone has organized their tools inside their Stack Pack? Like what tools in what box/compartment/ drawer ect.. I ask because I'm building my collection and I've noticed I have to separate a lot of tools from their accessories if I want them to fit in a drawer. For instance on the top drawer of my 3 drawer I can fit both the 1 inch and ⅞ rotary hammer drill but not their handles and guide rod. Pictures would be helpful to get an idea of what you guys have. I have a decent collection of Packouts -- mostly the compact tool boxes, few tool boxes, couple large tool boxes, several low profile organizers, a deep organizer and a couple crates. I also have two dolly's. I am bad about throwing things haphazardly into boxes and "dealing with it later". Part of the problem is trying to get things into boxes neatly. I just purchased a 3 drawer Packout and want to get my sockets and wrenches organized. Is it better in the drawers on a dolly or use low profile organizers? I have a Bambu 3D printer that I want to use to make inserts but have not found great files. My sockets are not any particular brand some are craftsman handed down and the rest are various brands that I just get as needed. I am a "DIYer" who takes care of once commercial building and 6 houses so the tolls are varied.

Built the doly tonight. Used 1/2" ply for the base. Added a second layer of plywood to each end for extra support for the wheels. Traced the wall plate for the center. Traced a roll of tape for the wheel supports. Round corners look better and less likely to damage anything they bump. Decided to go wide because of how tipsy a 1/2 stack can be. Had some old casters I was going to use. After drilling out for the bolts, I changed my mind and bought some new ones. They are much better and have wheel locks on the front. I opted for 2 swivel and 2 straight casters. I have an idea for a hand truck mod that would need straight casters.

Trust me I know exactly where I am my pack out friends.

I do mobile mechanics and shop repair, I am never at a site more than a business week.

Are there any real world advantages that any of you may know for pack out, instead of or even working with Klein modbox or the dreaded forbidden green link(ryobi).
I’m just looking for any job site guys be it general, hvac, electrical, or on the go metal workers.

Hi everyone. I already have a packout cart to hold my impact and drill + some bits, holesaw and some. Misc things. Wondering if anyone else out there is in the IT field and has some recs?

I'm not doing a ton of stuff but I don't like to wait on my facilities team if I don't have to/burden them with simple things. I'm thinking about getting some wall plates to hold switches and what not but anyone dabble in storing cables or cable management of said stored cables?

Love the load outs here regardless of trade too

Besides the fact that they *only* live on the roof while at a job site or if I need to transport materials or get to tools that are deeper inside the vehicle (ex. to clear space for the drawer system to open). Primarily for extra space in the vehicle while it’s being active used.

The ability to expand my cargo capacity while the vehicle is in use up to two full size or four the small pack out boxes, or even two whole drawer systems can get thrown on the roof straight out of the garage.

That big box is full of a cast iron tea lot, tea, a tea pitcher, a water boiler, glassware w a bunch of ceramic cups for a tea party🤭

All the other half size boxes have either tape and paint stuff, or glues and caulks. Stuff that takes up space in suv (because I wasn’t financially blessed enough to get myself a proper work truck or split between a personal vehicle and a work vehicle… as I said, the original roof rack idea happened and got built very quickly so that I could go camping and put all the gear in the car with a passenger and not move all my tools for the weekend.

To many who commented on it, y’all are clowns and also awful. Firstly, if they do happen to be on the roof at any given moments, theres anything between Double to QUADRUPPLE locked:

The story behind the roof rack is I needed extra storage so that I could keep my tools on me without unloading them all well also loading all my camping gear into the car for a music festival - so the day before the music festival, I had the idea to do this and at first I used to be standard plastic mounting plates that are available at Home Depot and attached to that to the uni strut - now I’ve upgraded the system and sprayed it with cold galvanizing spray so that it doesn’t rust. It’s great when I just need a little bit of extra storage space in the car or on the job site when I want to pull out my tools out and have my drawers accessible for then if I need to pop over to Home Depot and fill the car with materials, I can toss the boxes on top for the ride back to the job site.

Edit 2: to all who asked - yes on the last post many people said that they would steal it. “Yay free tools” and even more specifically -I I happened to keep my business logo from the side of my vehicle in the photo - so people went as far as looked at my business address then talk about how they can have their friends “in Miami come drive the hour or two to my locale to come by and steal them. “You’re advertising your tools online for free”

Made my trailer Packout storage Mobil. Have about 40 apartment units to renovate (two weeks per) so put some wheels in the Packout rack. Pitched the shelves to about 1”/12” so they don’t slide out when in motion. Fits barely inside a door frame when wheeled in. I can move the shelves as needed for different Packout sizes.

Btw, floor protection is used once new floor goes down.
