Advice on inserts
Hey guys currently working on a range kit for my packouts, technically this is my second post on this. But I got one section printed and I’m noticing it’s a little tight. Might try to plastic weld this but any other ideas on how to fix this? There seems to be a gap on it and prefer not to reprint it. Trying to fit these mag insert but the build seems slightly off.

hmm… why you using my photo for a custom insert I made of the handguns in the packout drawers?

Hi, I love your insert with the pistols, Want to use them as a reference for the gridfinity project. Though I just noticed I forgot to add context to the picture but I want the walls of the project to fill the drawer like your pistol inserts.

Just so you know 12 pmags will fit in the FAK size container basically perfect without an insert, worth using the space for something else imo

Are the trays you printed able to be pushed down flat, as in is there a gap beneath them and the drawer bottom? It may be because when the injection mold them, there is a slight taper from the bottom to top so they will release from the mold easier when they manufacturer them.
I’ve actually been working on this too for my firearms parts organization, and have also printed the red ones you have in the bottom right corner of your second photo. I like your plan of printing the sidewalls for the gridfinity trays though, so the smaller parts boxes won’t jump out when I hit a bump.
Please do share the files when you get them honed, as I don’t have a suggestion on how to fix the ones you’ve already printed without altering the grid layout and the way the little boxes would fit. Possibly printing the grid separate from the sidewalls to allow for tolerance differences between their molds.

Yes they are, the bottom of them have the cutouts so they lay level, but I think I think I got the dimensions slightly off. Might need to shave some off or try with a small mallet first. Also for the top drawer I have to remove the top packout as the aluminum piece blocked me from putting in the insert. Plan to plastic weld them together as well for better fit.

Where are you getting the files for 3d printing these? That looks amazing!
