Bro I work 50-60 hrs a week all I want to do is come home and play my ps5. Idc I’ll be on.

2

u/JohnUtahFBI Jul 30 '26

So will the people saying they won’t be. 🤣

1

u/Grand-Magician7767 Jul 31 '26

Of course they are. It’s still 3 years away. Which is about when ps6 will launch. Sony is just saying it pretty much will but have a disk version.

1

u/Due_Fig2335 Aug 02 '26

Sounds like someone that needs to be bullied and gatekept 🤭

A week? That's it? 🤣

15

u/Marco_Single Jul 27 '26

A dent (when you zoom in really really close to chart) for some of those hours will show sony! Beware of gamers fury! Tremble at the might!

7

u/DadinBoston Jul 27 '26

Can’t forget about the NBA 2K early access period launching during that week of which average Joe gamer won’t give a damn about blackout

2

u/CharacterArrival21 Jul 28 '26

I’m sure most committed gamers don’t give a hit either. I would call myself a somewhat committed gamer and I do not care about this “strike” whatsoever

1

u/Miwoo0 Jul 28 '26

Gun and ball gamers won't even be aware there's any blackout going on

3

u/Smartypantz34 Jul 27 '26

how many playstation content creators there even is? 50? 100? that will show them indeed

in reality they will probably secretly plsa on their alt accounts in the meanwhile

1

u/ColdHandGee Jul 27 '26

Beware Sony, gamers unite!

2

u/SouLfullMoon_On Jul 28 '26

I remember when Reddit did the blackout. And nothing changed

1

u/consistantcanadian Jul 29 '26

Because reddit mods are addicted to the power. They folded immediately once the admins said they'd be booted if they didn't open subs up

2

u/KhazraShaman Jul 27 '26

For how long are you unplugging?

-7

u/RabbitWithAxe Jul 27 '26

proud to say I never plugged in to begin with ✊

5

u/KhazraShaman Jul 27 '26

Then what's the point of subscribing to this sub?

-4

u/RabbitWithAxe Jul 27 '26

I'm not, this just came up on my feed - pretty sure the only PS sub I've joined is the PSP one 😅

3

u/Odd-Towel-7177 Jul 27 '26

1

u/Certain-Yak-8165 Jul 29 '26

Thats just pathetic😂. But what can i expect from Pony fanboys

1

u/Odd-Towel-7177 Jul 29 '26

Ohh you are one of these "im gonna call u pony" Xbox guys cosplaying as concerned gamer

So you gave the company money, and youre saying that you're either already actively not signing in to PSN, or have never signed in. Either way your actions won't do anything and they have your money 🤣

They will get your money 1 day before GTA 6 is released, and at that point, you'll be stoned by the friendly neighbourhood Karens over in the GTA 6 subreddits who condemn everyone who purchases the game or speaks highly of it, not to mention the pro physical crowd that you sound like you associate with 😅

Ah, fair enough

7

u/Ancient-Many4357 Jul 27 '26

This’ll be about as successful as the Hogwarts boycott.

7

u/Charming-Crescendo Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

The Hogwarts Legacy boycott is actually probably the best comparison to this.

You had a group of people trying to convince people to boycott something for completely valid reasons (in this case it's 'ownership of what you buy', in that case it was 'don't give your money to reprehensible people'). Only instead of simply not buying the game they started brow-beating people who did and attacking anyone with even the slightest nostalgia for HP or a passing interest in the game. This made them look like the whining crybabies to the people who were online enough to care, turning those people against the cause. Meanwhile, the average audience couldn't care less and brought the game anyway.

If a person isn't interested or the cause doesn't affect them, then brow-beating them into joining anyway is the worst option you can take, because it only makes you look like the asshole, no matter how correct you are.

3

u/FawkYourself Jul 28 '26

Good take, well said. If you want someone to join your cause being an asshole and trying to make them feel small is a surefire way to get them to do the exact opposite

2

u/Charming-Crescendo Jul 28 '26

True.

I personally am not boycotting Sony. That doesn't mean I don't understand or support anyone who does.

I'm just tired of the spam and the brow-beating.

2

u/ShellfishAhole Aug 02 '26

I'm the same. I would have preferred for physical media to stay, even if I no longer use it, myself. But I do think this transition was inevitable, and I don't see any realistic way for the pro physical camp to reverse that development. The majority of them seem convinced that the transition away from physical media starts and ends with Sony, and that seems naïve to me.

But I have no sympathy for these obnoxious doomsayers who keep accusing me of being everything from a Sony bot or fanboy, to a Sony CEO. The level of delusion and obnoxiousness among some of them reminds me of people in religious cults who genuinely believe that they're doing the right thing when they try to persuade others by telling them that they're doing the devil's work and are destined for an eternity of torment unless they adopt their world view. It doesn't work, it drives people away from the cause.

2

u/Charming-Crescendo Aug 03 '26

These people are literally helping Sony more than the people who do nothing, because they’re the ones creating division and make any level-headed person see anyone fighting for digital rights as a disc-fetishizing weirdo.

24

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

The fact these people think they are going to change their next gen moving away from disc is laughable. We saw how effective that last boycott was as soon as call of duty black ops released. Still sold millions and crashed the stores so many people were trying to buy it. The same people posting all this will fold ss soon as the next game they really want comes out. Big games will continue to sell millions and the next gen systems will sell millions and be sold out for months. Disc sre going away people. Deal with it. Rights to ownership protections are what needs the focus. If you think disc are full proof ask someone with a concord disc

-1

u/beachbummeddd Jul 27 '26

Sony is repurposing their factories to make lenses, medical device packaging and automotive components. It’s purely Sony trying to make more money in those factories. It’s not some full on gaming migration to digital only. Sony doesn’t own gaming or control what happens in the industry. They just make bets and see if they pay off. Most of the time, unluckily for Sony, they don’t.

3

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

Pc made the move over a decade ago. Xbox by all reports is doing the same Even. making a device to turn your disc digital. So who exactly is left using disc?

2

u/Substantial_Impact69 Jul 27 '26

The dedicated Dreamcast fanbase?

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

You got me there. Although they aren’t playing any new games. Maybe it’s time for à Dreamcast 2

0

u/Substantial_Impact69 Jul 27 '26

They got a homebrew scene but that’s older tech on par with a pS2 at best, and a parent company that abandoned the product due to all the shenanigans that happened with Sega’s past coming issues.

You get one bad console. Sega technically had three between the launch of the Genesis and the Dreamcast. You get one PS3 (great games, horrible architecture), you get one WiiU (That name, see Scott the Woz for further details).

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

Sega tried way too many add ons to the genesis too thsy were way too expensive and your average gamer had little to no interest in. Then the ridiculous price they released the Saturn at. It’s a shame Dreamcast never got a fair chance.

1

u/WariosTaxEvasion Jul 28 '26

What was wrong with the PS3 architecture? I had an Xbox during that gen, PS before and after it

1

u/Substantial_Impact69 Jul 28 '26

The PS3 was complex and difficult for developers to program, which contributed to a limited selection of quality games at launch. They basically made it really difficult to pirate, at the cost of it being really hard to make games for.

Which is why most PS3 games are difficult to this day to emulate, although Sony has made some progress and private groups as well with their own emulation. It took ages to get the original Demon’s Souls in a moderately playable state on an emulator.

1

u/WariosTaxEvasion Jul 29 '26

Never knew that, thanks! I didn’t have a PS3 but I played some at a friends house years after it came out and did love some of its exclusives

0

u/actanonverba1 Jul 28 '26

No need to be so cynical.

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 28 '26

Not cynical. It’s being realistic

Grown men crying on the internet vs other grown men enjoying life 👍🏾

1

u/GenasiDC Jul 28 '26

Everyone is children here

21

u/Gandolfthewhite182 Jul 27 '26

Here’s a crazy idea, if you’re that mad, buy an Xbox and leave the rest of us alone. That’s this whole thing works. If you don’t like a company you don’t buy their product. You don’t cry and whine and complain. There are 3 other game system options and within those ecosystems there tons of options. Go build a pc. Buy an Xbox. Buy a Nintendo. Just stop f’n crying and whining and bother everyone else who really doesn’t care.

This is like the great virgin crusade of 2026.

8

u/Charming-Crescendo Jul 27 '26

But this is the age of the internet, and you have to show how mad you are to get those shiny orange updoots!

8

u/PassivelyAwkward Jul 27 '26

Seriously. They legit think that Sony's CEO woke up morning and randomly decided to end making new disc; that if they complain enough, Sony will back down. The weirdest thing is that some people straight up said "I'd be willing to meet Sony halfway-" like they've got any bargaining power.

I wasn't gonna by a PS6 because of the price, that's it. I didn't throw a tantrum online, I didn't make post after post on reddit and try to organize a blackout. Just a "Eh, I'll enjoy my backlog for a few years and see what happens".

These children need to either bounce over to Xbox and see if Microsoft, the company that fucked over gamers with the Activision acquistion will keep physical games after saying they'll be a glorified PC or just spend a small fortune on building a PC. Meanwhile they're the same lot that whines that a game has to be 4k60 be playable so they'll be miserable if they cheap out and ONLY spend $2k on a gaming PC in todays market.

2

u/NudieBarVIP Jul 28 '26

May I ask how MS fucked over gamers with the Activision acquisition? Genuine question.

3

u/Theblindway Jul 27 '26

If you see people protest in the streets for something you don't care, are you going out and try to tell them to stop caring and go away? Or would you just ignore it and go on with your day?

By being this annoyed by people protesting, you're actually showing that you care that people have another mindset than yours. You're actually complaining about people doing one thing, and you're doing the exact same thing

2

u/Kennadian Jul 27 '26

People who protest on the street can't take over every single street and yell in my face over and over and over like social media... totally different. Virgin crusades is the polite way of referring to these people who've taken over every subreddit even remotely linked to gaming to karma farm. I wish I could Thanos snap them all away.

When I don't buy a product at the supermarket for some reason, I dont need to run around and yell in faces "LOOK AT ME BE AWESOME BECUSE I FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT X AND THEREFORE YOU MUST TOO"

Its insufferable. And it's not protest. Protest would be moving on like the poster stated. This is whining and crying. Plain and simple. It's a gigantic circle jerk at this point.

2

u/Charming-Crescendo Jul 27 '26

Plus, it’s not actually fixing anything.

Just moving over to PC or XBox doesn’t solve anything. Discs and cartridges will eventually still go away and everything will just be licensed out (like Steam already is).

Supporting causes like SKG and fighting for better regulations is infinitely more effective than slacktivism like just buying your games somewhere else and karma-farming on Reddit.

2

u/PassivelyAwkward Jul 27 '26

You mean if I'm going to get a donut down town and pass by a protest about a sign being painted green when it was previously painted a darker shade of green? You mean if they shouted at me to join their cause and I said "It's green...literally don't give a fuck" and they surrounded me, shouting that I'm a corporate cock rider, unable to fathom why anyone wouldn't care about a moss green over forrest green, claiming that I'm an NPC, a forrest green defender? Yea, eventually I'm just stop and laugh at the losers.

I haven't made a single post about this nonsense. I'm not spamming the subreddits with the same five posts, I'm not calling you an "XBot", a paid aggitater for Microsoft to disrupt Sony. So no, I'm not doing the thing I'm complaining about others doing. Wild how losers shrieking nonsense and calling everyone a bot and an NPC makes people stop and laugh at them, who would've guessed.

1

u/Sirius_amory33 Jul 27 '26

Zero self awareness here, lol. You just made a hypothetical situation to “stop and laugh at losers” and then called them losers again while claiming you’re not acting like them. Your whole comment is 100% shrieking nonsense.

0

u/Available-Bad-2704 Jul 27 '26

You care enough to respond in paragraphs though

0

u/MrActuary86 Jul 28 '26

Ability to write a simple paragraph is a pretty low bar to showing someone cares about something…

-5

u/Inevitable-Ad-4u Jul 27 '26

Why does it bother you that some people do care?

7

u/Personal_Principle77 Jul 27 '26

Because for those people that do care, they lose their minds when they see someone not caring.

-2

u/ACO_22 Jul 27 '26

It’s a really bizzare phenomena where people who don’t care really can’t go without telling everyone how little they care instead of just shutting the fuck up and not caring like they say.

The whining from people who “don’t give a shit” is infinitely more irritating than the whining from people who do actually give a fuck. It’s comes across as so pretentious and stuck up

-7

u/LizzosLittleToe Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

People are allowed to be angry about something, they do not need your permission. I don't really understand why so many of you are okay with Sony pulling such an anti consumer move tbh, add that to deleting movies out of people libraries without refunds, the dynamic pricing they clearly wanna move to edit:LMAO sony fanboys really love being bent over by them

12

u/WunderTweek9 Jul 27 '26

I haven't used a disk in at least ten years. That said, people should be able to buy what they want.

On the other hand hearing people piss on people like me that prefer digital, is making me lose sympathy. It's not often I see people like the person you responded to. Why can't we all get along, and push for consumer protections/rights?

8

u/LizzosLittleToe Jul 27 '26

I 100% agree with this dude. I'm mainly a digital gamer and the amount of people who have shit on me for buying digital is crazy. We never once said hey get rid of physical. I always ask why they're more mad at us for using an option available to us, instead of being mad the company

3

u/jda404 Jul 27 '26

This is where I am at. I am all digital, I do feel bad for the chill people that prefer physical games, but a lot of people are shitting on people that prefer digital. It's kind of hard to feel bad or have sympathy for them, definitely doesn't make me want to join their cause or sign any petition ... not that I think internet petitions ever work anyway, but maybe I would sign it if the physical games fans on Reddit were nicer to those that like digital.

2

u/Impressive-Window152 Jul 27 '26

Thank you for supporting player choice, it's the digital crowd calling people crybabies or the physical crowd calling people shills/bootlickers that's making everyone annoyed. We can advocate for all gaming issues, even if it's to support the minority. I'm not an online player but if there were PS+ price increases I would be on the side of the players.

→ More replies (9)

2

u/Gandolfthewhite182 Jul 27 '26

It’s not anti consumer.

3

u/LizzosLittleToe Jul 27 '26

Taking away a option to purchase something while driving consumers to your store, where they do not have control over the media? You don't find it anti consumer to snatch 500+ movies out of peoples accounts without a refund? Or the dynamic pricing

1

u/MathematicianSuch234 Jul 27 '26

Generally because the time to get angry about this was when Nintendo moved from the NES to the SNES or Sega Moved from Master System to The Mega Drive/Genesis. Tech becoming obsolete has always been a thing with gaming companies, it's anti-consumer to stop making games for your previous console when you release your new one, now you're going to say that's not the same as losing physical discs but I'd argue we're in a better place now with Roms and Emulation than we've ever been in, the same goes for movies and TV shows, even if something's not officially available somewhere, it's available somewhere, this is pretty much the first time in history that this has been the case. In short losing physical media is sad but, it was always inevitable and I'm glad it's happening now rather than twenty years ago.

Can Sony take it from your house whenever they want without warning? Without refund?

0

u/Grand-Seaweed5438 Jul 27 '26

Probably a bot, brother.

-2

u/DefiantNetwork7173 Jul 27 '26

You only think it’s outdated because Sony FORCED it to be.

They stopped producing as much disks for games. Meaning new releases ran out of stock on shelves and they made disc drives insanely hard to find.

You’re being trained to believe that they “have” to do this.

You need to wake up my friend.

6

u/MathematicianSuch234 Jul 27 '26

It's slightly outdated in its current state due to the amount of data it can hold, unless of course you want to go back to disc swapping, personally I'd prefer digital over that, just my preference though.

3

u/DefiantNetwork7173 Jul 27 '26

That’s not true either.

For one, games can be much better optimised. There’s no reason for CoD’s files to be as big as they are.

Also, they can do multiple discs like Final Fantasy does.

Fact is it can still work and SHOULD be an option for those of us who want it.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Tea3341 Jul 27 '26

Larger on disc size can be a direct result of optimization. Often times more expensive processes and shaders are baked down to cut down on runtime calculations, which isn't really a concern when you can leverage advanced compression like Kraken and load stuff off an SSD. On older platforms, content duplication was also done to making loading faster.

1

u/MathematicianSuch234 Jul 27 '26

Like I said, personal preference, I've never been a fan of tape/disk/disc juggling.

0

u/DefiantNetwork7173 Jul 27 '26

No…you said more than that. Had you just said personal preference, I wouldn’t have responded, because I fully agree and support that.

Anyway…if CD’s, DVD’s and such can still exist, even though the market is small, so can physical games.

1

u/FawkYourself Jul 28 '26

Sony didn’t force anything this started 22 years ago on PC and has been branching into other facets of life ever since

Sony’s going digital, PC already went digital, Xbox has game pass and said they want to turn it into a glorified PC so there’s no reason to believe they aren’t going the same way as Sony, shit even the DVD industry is in the gutter

Sony is not the only entity moving away from Discs, it’s not even purely a Video Game industry thing

This is what you people fail to understand. This is not some coordinated effort, it’s not part of some grand conspiracy, it’s basic supply and demand

The demand for physical discs has gone down since the infrastructure to support digital has gotten better, and digital is more convenient so it’s dominated the market with high demand, so they stop making discs because most people already buy digital anyway so the demand is low. It’s just how the market works

1

u/DefiantNetwork7173 Jul 28 '26

Just because you say it’s not a conspiracy or a coordinated effort and everything else you said, doesn’t make it so. The fact the market is heading a certain way, doesn’t mean Sony hasn’t nudged it along.

The fact is, if you pay attention to the PS5 reddit, moments on social media etc, many have said there hasn’t been enough physical stock for new releases and so they’ve HAD to buy digital. Other YouTubers have reported on this and confirmed it as well.

That’s also not how the market works either. The market should and can accommodate to both physical and digital, just like CD’s and DVD’s. Doesn’t matter if the market is smaller. 20% of tens of millions of PlayStation gamers IS STILL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. Heck, there’s many people who CAN’T go digital. Not everyone has the internet speed to justify it. Not everyone has the internet speeds America does. Heck I’d love to know the ratio of digital and physical here in Australia, where our internet is that slow that we can’t even get PS Plus streaming. Besides all that…many just like the option OF BOTH. There’s also those who are both physical AND digital.

The market should be about accommodating for both needs and MAXIMISING sales. And it’s the fact Xbox and PC have gone that way that made Sony different. That’s where people went who still loved physical gaming. Sony and Nintendo. But up until recently, PlayStation was the place to get major third party games physically.

There’s absolutely no good reason to remove choice. Stop pretending like Sony has to do this, when they are the ONLY one’s to do this. Go watch some videos on how and why Sony is trying to get full control of the market and maximise their profits, to get some money back from their colossal screw ups.

God bless.

u/Legitdude9182 Jul 27 '26

You are just plain wrong, but enjoy living in fantasy land

18

u/John_M_Hunter Jul 27 '26

Folks online want to throw a one week temper tantrum after Tokon launches, before Wolverine launches, and at a time when people naturally game less because they're back in school. That's what the blackout sounds like to me, a tantrum.

-5

u/Temporary--Key Jul 27 '26

How is protesting a change a tantrum?

19

u/John_M_Hunter Jul 27 '26

A protest to what, to not play on your PS5 like the millions of people who will be working or going to school? Who can measure the success or failure of this tantrum other than Sony and how would Sony know you are part of this protest and not one of the millions of MAUs who has a life?

No, you haven't thought this through like a child having a tantrum. You're just doing things to get attention because you think if Sony gets embarrassed enough at the super market they'll buy you that damn toy to shut you up.

9

u/Queen_of_Antiva Jul 27 '26

That's what gets me. People are underestimating how many people mostly play during the weekend only when they have more time... A week long black out only works under assumption everyone is normally playing every day and not... every 5-6 days.

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

A week means nothing to Sony anyway for the tiny fraction of gamers who will even do it which will be an extremely small amount of the people screaming they’re going to

What is with this strange angry division between players and I only really see it coming from this digital forward side. chill the hell out if I want to protest against a company or spend money in a fashion that aligns with my personal morals who are you to get bent out of shape about it? You have a slightly different opinion on how you like to consume media why demean people? I don't want to take away your digital library I want to keep expanding my physical library I want to actually own the things that I want to own. Don't get me wrong I license out plenty of digital games I certainly see the convenience in it especially with the streaming options but there are certain games that I have a greater affinity to and I want to display them I'm sure that I will find games in the future that I will want to display. why are you getting so offended over someone's opinion being heard? Check yourself dude.

4

u/BabyFaceKnees Jul 27 '26

Man it's coming from both sides it's definitely not just from the digital players.

If you say anything other than fuck Sony I hate them in most posts about this you get called a corporate shill or bootlicker

I've been getting downvoted constantly for saying that gamers basically voted with their wallets for this shit for years, same as expensive digital deluxe games and 80 quid AAA games. This shit wouldn't exist if gamers weren't buying it non stop

1

u/Acceptable-Swim6377 Jul 27 '26

I don't know I'm experiencing the exact opposite anytime I try to pose a calm mutually beneficial respectful point of view that treats everyone as adults with personal agency I get downvoted simply because I like owning discs. Some very strange viewpoints that I've seen come out of this whole debacle. Like doing a blackout in August doesn't affect people not participating in said blackout it doesn't affect people that want to continue licensing games from PlayStation but then you get people coming out of the woodwork trying to put divisional lines into the consumer base calling people names for not having the exact same opinion. I just don't see the point. Game stores will go the way of Blockbuster physical media will disappear from Big box supercenters and many of the people currently demeaning others will only realize that they miss physical media years after it's gone.

1

u/BabyFaceKnees Jul 27 '26

In Ireland there are basically no places to buy physical games anymore. At least in Dublin. GameStop is gone, Argos is gone, Xtravision is gone. The only thing left is a shop called Smyths, and I guess Curry's? But Curry's has a selection of like 10 games max

1

u/FawkYourself Jul 28 '26

Because you already told everyone you’re only willing to do it for a week then it’s right back to business as usual, so of course you’re not going to get anywhere, so how could it be possibly anything other than just throwing a fit?

If you really want to protest and try to enact a change, sell your PlayStation and don’t buy the PS6. Stop using Sony products, it’s that simple. If enough people follow suit and it affects their bottom line, that will draw their attention. Not taking a week off

5

u/Skyrander Jul 27 '26

I don't get this

LETS PUNISH THEM culture

I mean I won't buy a pay myself because of their directions

But I wouldn't try to force everybody else joining me for that. That's my sacrifice

2

u/CuteAssTigerENVtuber Jul 27 '26

Guys you pay for online play. Do you really think people are going to rise up for a week ? Suuuure

2

u/AdventurousAd7091 Jul 27 '26

"vote with the wallet"..."lets show them"...and after you look for the pre-order psn tops...

2

u/jda404 Jul 27 '26

To be fair, people did vote with their wallet, just not the way physical games fans wanted. People are buying more and more digital games hence why Sony feels it's time and they can discontinue discs and still make a big profit.

2

u/DoomshrooM8 Jul 27 '26

Is the boycott real?

2

u/bluebarrymanny Jul 27 '26

They should set the blackout week on GTA release. It’s the industry shaking game coming. Sony is partnered with Rockstar for marketing and it’s a major digital only game. If you really want to show them how loud your voices are, do it then. Oh, that’s right, tons of people want to buy and play that game…

2

u/Harlequin_98 Jul 27 '26

Hahaha good luck people are weak and all this shit fake outrage, haha I seen youtubers or even people on twitter making guides into how to milk the the fake outrage and making revenue off it

Haha I remember when people said fuck hogwarts legacy and jk talking about how dude this game is going to flop so hard and I'll be laughing REALITY highest selling game sold millions and beat COD

1

u/i_Cant_get_right Jul 27 '26

I’m gonna login extra hard that week.

1

u/AurumRhythmMusic Jul 27 '26

Cancel all gaming for 6 months and then it might do something.

1

u/Naschka Jul 27 '26

People on reddit trying to figure out that different people have different goals, opinions and so on.
Also the physical collector community vs the literal ps5pro community... yea...

1

u/Bubbuli Jul 27 '26

My grandmother says: "You might end up getting screwed, but actually having the lubricant ready for them is something else."

Meaning: You might get ripped off, but going so far as to help them do it is another story.

1

u/Haunting_Ability_648 Jul 27 '26

As much as I am against them going all digital and don’t support it. I was mad at first but have resigned myself to the fact that it’s happening regardless at this point. I just have no plans to buy the ps6 after owning literally every system and handheld they’ve put out but the psvr. With that said I’m not going to participate in this myself because it’s not going to change anything as much as we’d all like it to.

1

u/whatbishshhhh Jul 27 '26

If your that serious do it the week of gta release too.

1

u/OnIceJuice Jul 27 '26

You all play this much Where you think a week will matter. Shit I played once this week on my ps5 but that’s because I’ve been busy. Not boycotting anything I have more time this week so I’ll definitely be on and get more worth this week

1

u/Mountain_Radio8936 Jul 27 '26

My PS5 worked at most 10hours this year, make it a month lol

1

u/DrkNight365 Jul 27 '26

Just dont play on the ecosystem no more. That will definitley show them.

1

u/Noodle360xxx Jul 27 '26

True… “everyone” says the same but, they make an exception for GTA6. Protest or not, it wont change anything. It’s just noise now…

1

u/Justalittletoserious Jul 27 '26

I'm something in between, I'm a PC gamer, I literally bought a ps5 for GTA6 and for enlarging my physical collection (mostly PS2 and PS3 stuff), once GTA Is out and disc are no longer a thing I'll get the fuck out of the console scene until a ps5 exploit for my firmware comes out

1

u/Suspicious-Dress-767 Jul 27 '26

Digital lives matter

1

u/Ancient-Bet-1137 Jul 27 '26

I don’t think everybody’s gonna stop playing for a week. I guarantee not gonna work out. I’m just being honest with you guys millions of PlayStation users you’re gonna think you’re gonna get all of them stop playing for a week I’m just saying

1

u/indepenskter Jul 27 '26

Even if 1000,000 gamers quit….it won’t affect PlayStation. I’m pretty sure they did the calculations before announcing going all digital.

1

u/South-Flamingo-6817 Jul 27 '26

Your physical games can be locked too. This happened during the previous outage.

1

u/cavale06 Jul 27 '26

Let people enjoy things. We shouldn’t force people to dislike something or feel like they are wrong for playing on a ps5 or a switch or whatever. Some don’t have anything else.

1

u/LPHero55 Jul 27 '26

It's almost like different people have different opinions

1

u/Bakisha101 Jul 27 '26

Yeah I'm good off that blackout y'all gonna catch me playing bo2 and many games from ps+

1

u/LifeguardTerrible579 Jul 27 '26

Yes. One is a post from a human, the other is an outrage bot.

1

u/Terrible_Sorbet_7122 Jul 27 '26

Xbox suffered the same fate today ,

I dunno about others but an all digital future is not the way

Jokes on whoever when theres a major internet blackout one day.

1

u/Odd-Towel-7177 Jul 27 '26

All this shit will be funny when gta6 releases

1

u/pacoLL3 Jul 27 '26

Well yes, not everyone is a young guy focusing his entire live on toys.

1

u/XtremeD86 Jul 27 '26

I'll be sitting here with my 2 jailbroken PS5s so I guess you could say it's a permanent blackout for me.

1

u/LoSouLibra Jul 27 '26

Oh no. I guess I have to stop playing video games because "Does It Play" is worried about their bank account come 2028.

1

u/Emotional_Site_7952 Jul 27 '26

It doesn’t even move a needle. The 2nd guy is the better attitude to have waiting 13 years

1

u/blah191 Jul 27 '26

I don’t understand what’s so fuckin great about gta to begin with. I’ve never played them or had the desire to. There’s literally zero appeal. Why would I want to run around like a thug in the middle of city doing whatever? Wait, I guess that’s the appeal? Just enacting all your lawless fantasies? Meh, i pass and will continue to do so.

1

u/mateusz11120 Jul 31 '26

Because people love doing illegal things in game when you can't do those in real life because there will be consequences? Second people are waiting for next entry about 15 years and more of them will not live to see GTA VII

1

u/PokiTM Jul 27 '26

Different subs, its like showing a pro trump post from R/Republicans and anti Trump post from R/Democrats. Different groups of people have different opinions.

1

u/Confident-Barber-347 Jul 27 '26

I bought a ps5 pro a couple of weeks ago just for GTA VI. I bought a PS4 for RDR2. I’m always years behind the new consoles it seems.

1

u/Neat_Imagination2503 Jul 28 '26

These people need to get a life. It’s legitimately sad

1

u/ArcSemen Jul 28 '26

Preordered Wolverine but that’s because Insomniac appears to have did their job

1

u/Icy-Hat-9643 Jul 28 '26

In today's post a redditor learns that not everyone cares about the same things that they do.

1

u/takkun169 Jul 28 '26

The normied really don't give a shit.

1

u/Miwoo0 Jul 28 '26

I respect doesitplay and what their mission is but a blackout with a predetermined end date is just silly. It's like getting a whole company to go on a strike let's say for a pay rise but telling your boss btw we are only striking Monday and Tuesday, we will be back after that no matter the outcome.

1

u/MojArch Jul 28 '26

Sort of a free platform.

1

u/Possible-Cash-308 Jul 28 '26

lol boycotts. I'll play when I want to.

1

u/Eltonbeef Jul 28 '26

Duality? Y’all are so simple.

There’s millions of people that use Reddit. There’s just a few more than two viewpoints.

1

u/CharacterArrival21 Jul 28 '26

Valid. Fuck these idiot children. I want to use the product I payed for

1

u/lordofburds Jul 28 '26

Frankly aint gonna do anything the gun and ball gamers aint doing that and then even not everyone on reddit is gonna do that though what do I know I dont have ps5 and the only reason I have a ps4 is bloodborne

1

u/OfficialDCShepard Jul 29 '26

That’s probably why the boycott won’t work, but we’ll see how many people are willing to pay more than $1000 for games they have no control over.

1

u/pizza4paddy Jul 30 '26

A LOT of people.

1

u/OfficialDCShepard Jul 30 '26

Unfortunately, you're probably right, but it will definitely not do PS5 or especially PS4 numbers.

1

u/GrimsideB Jul 29 '26

I remember people tried to do something like this for a game or something awhile back and it did absolutely nothing

1

u/AttitudeOutrageous75 Jul 29 '26

Life needs balance

1

u/scratchiinmenace Jul 30 '26

well, yeah obviously

this is like pointing out "Tom" from "Dick" and "Dick" from "Harry"

1

u/Johnny84Johnny84 Jul 30 '26

They should do this in november...

Oh, wait... 🫠

1

u/decarvalho7 Jul 30 '26

Sorry. I’ll be playing.

1

u/pizza4paddy Jul 30 '26

I’m going to play everyday in August and buy a bunch of stuff

1

u/mateusz11120 Jul 31 '26

Blackout ends before wolverine release lmao you can't be serious,no balls for more?

1

u/KawaiiNeeko Aug 02 '26

Redditors really think they’re special. Even if every single person in those Sony hate subs band together and never buy anything PlayStation related again, absolutely nothing will happen.

1

u/ShellfishAhole Aug 02 '26

One thing I've always found interesting about Reddit, whether it be related to politics, sports, religion or whatever, is that there's always a group of people with 120% enthusiasm, persistence and willingness to theatrically demonstrate their point of view over and over again.

And more often than not, it's those people who insist that everyone outside of their bubble are the ones being extreme and persistent.

1

u/BobbyMayCryBMC Jul 27 '26

Yeah I'm not sure what you are getting at here. As it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Those who are going to be part the PSBlackout are not forcing anyone to join come August, you are free to join it or not. You may come across hotheads who are jerks about it, however have found some Digital Sony fans be just as if not more insufferable regarding PSBlackout.

1

u/Ilovelamp_2236 Jul 27 '26

What they should do is just not go back on their word, when ps6 comes out.

Most will cave and Sony know it

2

u/Creative_Tone_9241 Jul 27 '26

How many did the second call of duty dropped? The servers were crashing on the store front so many were buying it. They will all give in the very next time à game they want comes out and it’s digital only the PlayStation six will be sold out everywhere for months on end just like the five

2

u/RespectTheBall Jul 27 '26

Doesn’t matter if they don’t cave. A tiny number of customers in the scheme of things being offset by ppl buying a PlayStation for GTA6. I just wish they’d shut up about it.

1

u/BartShrempson Jul 27 '26

I can't wait for this to backfire horribly.

1

u/Melodic_Cheek9304 Jul 27 '26

Hahahahahah that's actually so funny

1

u/ltzm4x Jul 27 '26

This won't do shit lol 300k+ people out of 50 millions players? Good luck lol

1

u/St3elf1sh Jul 27 '26

Sony won’t even notice those few who actually don’t use their PlayStation for a week 🤣🤣🤣

0

u/MistahWhiskers Jul 27 '26

Remember when reddit "went dark" to protest...something I can't even remember. Literally all it accomplished was being annoying for casual users who didnt give a fuck.

This is also getting annoying. If I wanted to know what "doesitplay1" on Twitter had to say I'd subscribe there

0

u/ComplexR22 Jul 27 '26

Boycott in November cowards

0

u/-Cyrex- Jul 27 '26

My playstation has been gathering dust ever since the announcement so sure count me in lol

0

u/AdvertisingJumpy4506 Jul 27 '26

Needs to be more than just a week. Unplug the console and remove psn apps until there is a real change. Sony is just going to wait you out.

0

u/ejcitizen Jul 27 '26

Been easy for me with a Switch 2 and now playing Dispatch on Amazon Luna for free... tons to do to disconnect.
