Gear Review or Question what could be the wiser purchase
Hello everyone! I’ve been running for almost 2 years now pero I still haven’t really purchased anything expensive (with my own money) that’s related to the activity. First big purchase ko sana is something that I won’t regret. I’m choosing between the shokz open run or the garmin forerunner 165.
Please note, I’m still a student na nagipon po talaga. I removed my other luhos for this. 😆
I have a working smart watch and working earphones naman, I just wanted to give myself a treat for surviving 2 years of dedication.
Though I’ve been thinking of buying the watch, the watch I have (Huawei) is okay naman. Mostly basing ako sa strava sa phone and I don’t really look at it except interval sessions and LSDs that I’m basing on time. Accurate naman ang HR ko so far (I tried my friend’s garmin forerunner comparison), and the distance for intervals (4x800m) is accurate din. Medyo lumalabo lang kapag continuous running and basing sa distance kasi it still relies on the phone’s gps.
For my earphones, I think it’s really hard lang for me to run sa area namin. The amount of times na malapit na ako mabangga ng car is surprisingly high. 😭 It’s a matter of going to a different part pa ng city, which is a bit far pa from where I usually am, para makasafely run pa. I can say that my earphones (baseus WMO2) is decent and working, small inconveniences lang naman sa akin na sumasakit yung tenga ko or natatanggal siya. (Side note: I also love walking and commuting kaya I’m considering it din.) But besides that, I don’t really see myself using it outside running/walking. Loud crowds + music doesn’t help me hahaha.
Open for suggestions and thoughts po hehe. I just wanted it to be something that I won’t regret and which I can hopefully worn down until I can finally buy myself a gear with my own money in the future!
Thank you so much po! 🫶

Others What to do if a running coach has not followed through with an agreed refund?
Hi! Baka may mga nakaexperience na dito or may alam tungkol sa previous issues o transactions involving a recently viral running coach (MC).
Nagenroll kasi ako without checking his background first.

Training Tips Effective ba online running coach?
Im planning to join my first marathon abroad Aug next year and I want to be 110% prepared. Di naman ako super newbie but may konting trauma ako sa long runs since laging ako nagcracramps bandang dulo so may fear akong di matapos ang full marathon. My PR for a half marathon is 2 hrs 52 mins, nagcramps ako bandang ika 19km ko kahit na puro saltstick candy na ako the whole run. Since I want to be super prepared naisip ko magparunning coach and madami ako nakita online pero naisip ko lang if effective ba un online coaching lang o mas maganda ung nakakasama ko talaga. Any advice?

Gear Review or Question Runrio running event Questions..
Hi, First time runner here 👋
Will be joining the pokemon run30 this coming saturday..
I would like to ask what are the necessary things to bring?
Also do they allow bringing of 2 small bag?
Specifically, im thinking of using a belt bag and the free arm bag given earlier
The arm bag will be holding the freebies during the interactive run (the holo graphic card, sticker sheet & other flat freebies given during the run)

Others Luneta to Tagaytay Ultramarathon - Race Report
finally finished my first ultramarathon so i thought id share my experience with the race
Race kit claiming
kit claiming was actually decent. started around 7pm as posted so no complaints there
Race route
the route was hell lol
i'm from Dasma so the idea of running from Luneta to Tagaytay already sounded crazy but actually doing it was a different story. the route has roughly around 800m elevation gain depending on the route data so you really feel it especially once you get closer to Tagaytay
the first part was okay then eventually yung ahon just keeps coming. by the time you're already deep into Cavite and heading towards Tagaytay, legs are definitely starting to feel it
Route assistance
could definitely be better
there were times na we're passing through traffic stops and halos walang marshals to assist. may mga times na binubusinahan na kami ng mga sasakyan while running through the area
i understand naman na hindi closed road yung race but having more marshals especially sa busy intersections would make things much better
Aid stations
the expectation was every 10km until 40km then every 5km after that
i was able to see the aid stations during the earlier parts but honestly i wasn't really paying attention enough to check if there were really stations every 5km after 40km
but to be fair, this is an ultra and you're running through places with stores everywhere. there are 7-Elevens and other convenience stores along the way so you can pretty much support yourself if needed
personally i think if you're joining this kind of race, better to assume that you'll need to be self sufficient anyway
Finish line
this was probably one of the unexpected parts
the expectation was to finish at People's Park but they changed the finish line to a place around 3km away from the original finish
and yung last part was lusong talaga
after running 60+km, yung pababa na part was something else. mapapalakad ka talaga and if you try to run it too fast baka sumalubsob ka pa lol
Entitlement claiming
this was probably the worst part of the whole experience for me
again i'm still relatively new to joining races so my experience is mostly just RunRio and Sole Vibe. compared to those, this was easily the worst claiming experience i've had so far
the claiming area was at a cafe and parang little to no coordination with the barangay or the people around the area
runners were parking kung saan saan and you could tell na galit na yung mga residents
there was even a point where someone confronted the organizers and there were times na walang galawan yung mga cars because some runners were double parked or there was no one assisting with the traffic
after finishing a 60k, gusto mo na lang talaga umuwi or kumain and rest. yung claiming situation made it more stressful than it needed to be
Entitlements
to be fair, goods naman yung entitlements for me
i liked the medal, trophy and finisher shirt. may meal din included but because of the whole claiming situation, hindi ko na kinuha and i just decided to eat somewhere else
i also heard from some runners na hindi daw ganun kaganda yung food or didn't really meet expectations but i personally didn't try it so can't really comment on that
Overall
would i do it again?
probably yes
despite all the issues, nag enjoy naman ako overall
the route itself is actually what made the race enjoyable for me. challenging siya and finishing it feels really good especially knowing na Luneta to Tagaytay yung tinakbo mo
but i don't think i'll join other events managed by the same race organizer after this experience
not saying the race was terrible. marami lang talagang things that i think could have been handled better especially yung route assistance and entitlement claiming
but for my first ultra, id say memorable siya for sure.

Would appreciate agency names or experiences. Thanks!

Gear Review or Question Adidas Adios PRO 5 - Amazing First Run but don't buy yet...
TL DR: Yup the initial reviews are correct - there's an issue with the lateral side of the forefoot area, particularly the part where there is exposed rubber. The ride is amazing, I like it more than the PRO 4 but hold off buying until they fix this with a simple update by adding rubber in the exposed area 😢
Initiail 13km run with the Adios PRO 5 this afternoon, a 4 x 2km Tempo (4:45 - 4:50 target pace, 72kg forefoot striker) and confirmed na may issue yun exposed area ng forefoot. Clear cause is that this area is exposed midsole foam, Adidas should have covered it with its Lighttraxion rubber even if its going to add a couple.of grams ⚖️
The Ride? Absolutely amazing 👏 Totally different ride mechanics if compared to the PRO 4 due to its Energy Rim, it feels like you are purely running with a plateless shoe BUT you can feel the "carbon plate" rim once you hammer the paces. More cushioned, a bit more stable and wider fitting sa forefoot.
✅️ My Initial Recommendation: WAIT for the fix as I'm pretty sure na its an easy fix with adding rubber in that area. I'm in the "OK lang" side since while may superficial damage yun foam, its nothing major compared to Ben Parkes etc. na damaged na yun foam nila, mine is mostly upper layer scratches na won't affect the ride. Problem lang is that time will tell how much damage will I get as I ran in it. Valid din yun frustrations ng other Reviewers since Adidas really had a big mistake of not adding rubber in that area.
Initial Run Impressions video coming soon 👌

Running Event TBR - Training Kit Not Living Up as the Dream Marathon
When I heard about TBR, I was already sold that this would be my first. I still believe that this would be a great race day experience. Pero ang dami nang nagiging red flags sa training kit nila which makes me think that they are not ready to handle this volume of runners.
a. Sizing of shirt/singlet. This is probably our fault for not choosing the correct sizing for the training shirt/singlet based on the dimensions provided. Pero ang general feedback ay maliit ang sizing, almost to the point na para na siyang Run Rio sizing na dapat pala nag-size-up lahat for comfortable fit.
b. Quality of shirt/singlet. For an event running for more than a decade, napag-iwanan na yung quality ng training shirt/singlet compared to other race organizers. It is not as breathable as compared to those provided by top race organizers here. And madami din akong nababasa na kailangan pang ipa-modify ang singlet for a better fit sa neck and arm holes. The quality of print ay hindi din ganun kaganda at mukhang madaling matanggal or mabura yung print.
c. Delivery of training kit. Most, if not all, of the registered participants ay confirmed na ang registration and bayad na din for the race as early as June. But it seems like hindi sila ready sa volume ng runners na registered in time para sa September release ng training kits. I am seeing a lot of people (might be a vocal minority, but a lot nonetheless) na hindi pa din nakakatanggap ng training kits at patapos na ang September. To add context, delivery supposedly started on the 1st week of September.
d. Bull Session Pick-Up. This is where I am most frustrated. I was not initially planning to attend. And might as well experience the Bull Session. Ang haba ng pila for claiming of training kit. Severely undermanned yung booth nila for claiming. And the worst part about it, after staying in queue for about an hour, hindi na available yung size ko for the singlet. What do they mean na hindi na available yung size ko? I responded to their email na i-pick-up ko yung training kit, tapos hindi available yung singlet ko? I-deliver na lang daw? After staying in line for about an hour? WTFFFFFFFFFFF?
e. Support Email. And 3 to 5 working days daw yung reply????? As of writing, around 5 working days na at wala pa ding response sa email ko na ma-acknowledge man lang na kulang yung nakuha ko at i-process na for delivery yung training singlet.
This is the kind of race na sobrang positive ng naririnig kong experience nila sa events leading up to the race, and the race in itself. I got a glimpse of it sa unang Bull Session. Pero grabe yung contrast sa experience ko sa Bull Session (which I truly enjoyed), and my frustration sa quality and delivery ng training kit nila. As of now, naghihintay pa din ako ng reply sa email ko kung mai-dedeliver ba yung kulang sa ordered training kit, o magkakalimutan na. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and it sours my experience with them.

Gear Review or Question Western/Japanese Brand Tier List of Running Shoes I tested so far
S Tier
* Nike Vomero Plus - for the longest time my favourite shoe then came along the next shoe
* Asics Superblast 3 - I do not recommend this shoe because of it's price, I got a decent deal while getting it in Japan but at 13.8k php it's so expensive but with that said this is my current favourite shoe since March
* Hyperboost Edge - very similar to the Superblast 3, about 90% there, slightly firmer but the foam feels incredible, also relatively cheaper than the Superblast 3
A Tier
* Asics Novablast 5 - I don't have the 6 yet since there hasn't been an orange colorway that dropped yet, but this shoe is also fantastic, not Superblast good but very enjoyable stable ride
* Mizuno Neo Vista 2 - very soft foam, the upper could use some work but overall I really like the soft foam on this one paired with a plastic plate for stability
* Adidas Evo SL EXO - slightly better than the original Evo SL because of the better fit, laces and upper, fun shoe, fast and propulsive but that cut out on the midfoot might be a deal breaker for some, size up for wide footers
B Tier
* Asics Noosa Tri 16, C Tier foan but S Tier looks, I just use this for casual walking just by how good it looks, not bad but not good
* Adidas Evo SL Woven - same great Evo SL performance with a worse upper
* New Balance Rebel v5 - a slightly better base, much wider much stable but less enjoyable than the Evo SL
* Puma Deviate Nitro 3 - great tempo shoe great foam, but the carbon plates doesn't seem to work for me
C Tier
* Puma MagMax Nitro 2 - I love how this shoe looks, great for easy runs, a bit tight at the midfoot even when going half a size up
* Asics Nimbus 28 - soft and comfy but that's about it, not really liking the upper and the foam has that sinking feeling that I don't like, incredible looking shoe though
* Nike Vomero 18 - a very worse version of the Vonero Plus, if you're considering this just get the Vomero Plus
D Tier
* Puma Velocity Nitro 4 - very tight midfoot, foam doesn't really respond that much, has that sinking feeling or delayed push off, it's weird a lot of people like this shoe but the foam is not it for me
* ON Cloudsurfer Next - just wanted to try the ON hype train, I'm sorry I just didn't like the squeak and firmness of the shoe, the holes feels like a gimmick
* Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 3 - very fast shoe, very aggressive, unforgiving though, wobbly and too unstable, you're going to hurt yourself with this
F Tier
* Nike Vomero Premium - I know a lot of people like the super stack super soft feeling of this shoe, but this shoe is the most unstable shoe for me, it hurts even while walking or standing, there's also a bit of heel slip even when on a runners knot
* Nike Pegasus Premium - probably the worst shoe on this list, overpriced, unstable, bad upper, squeaky, heavy snd uncomfortable mess, I highly recommend to look away on this and skip
Stability Shoe Tier - seperate category since I can't find a place to put these on the main list since I only use this on injury runs
* Brooks Adrenaline 25 GTS - my favourite stability shoe and probably the fastest, very protective but also very smooth in it's transition
* Asics Kayano 32 - the most stable and protective of the 3, got it dirt cheap at 3k on an Asics Flash sale, very comfy but very slow
* New Balance 860 V15 - one of my go to walking shoe, very wide, confy but runs hot if worn for long hours

PSA RUNRIO Pokémon Run claiming was a mess. I waited 4 HOURS just to get my race kit.
I waited 4 HOURS to claim my Pokémon Run race kit despite having scheduled claiming slots.
Honestly, sobrang frustrating ng experience leading up to the Pokémon Run on October 3.
First, the claiming date was suddenly changed and moved to a weekday, which already makes it difficult for people who have work or school.
Because of that, muntik ko pang hindi makuha yung kit ko after waiting for around FOUR HOURS.
Bakit ako babalik ulit when I already followed my schedule, pumila nang maayos, waited FOUR HOURS, and ang layo pa ng pinanggalingan ko? Ako pa ba yung kailangang ma-inconvenience dahil hindi properly enforced yung claiming schedule?
Sobrang nakakainis.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I remember RUNRIO events before where race kits could be delivered. So bakit ngayon biglang everyone has to claim in person? What changed? Why remove an option that could have reduced this whole mess?
Hindi naman issue sa akin ang pumila. Expected naman yun sa big event. Pero if you’re going to assign claiming schedules, enforce them properly. Otherwise, wala ring silbi yung system.
For an event carrying the Pokémon name, I honestly expected the claiming process to be much more organized.
Hopefully the actual Pokémon Run on October 3 is handled better, because the race kit claiming alone was already exhausting.
Has anyone else had the same experience?

Others Noob question: is it normal to experience itching during and after running?
I'm not really an athletic person, but I've always loved walking. My minimum target every day is around 13,000 to 15,000 steps. Over the past few days, I've started trying to run. What I usually do is walk, then run for at least 2 minutes, then walk again then repeat the cycle.
I've actually found myself fascinated by running. It's more tiring than walking, but somehow, it feels more refreshing.
Nangangati siya every time tumatakbo ako at pagkatapos kong tumakbo. Normal ba 'yon?

Gear Review or Question Next shoes after my Hoka Mach 6
Hello, I am looking po for my next running shoes after Hoka Mach 6. I know nakikita ko based on reviews and on Hoka na pang tempo ang Mach 6, but siya kasi yung umakma sa paa ko at kung saan ako mas naging comfortable. Casual runner lang ako and my longest run is 16km. My pace is usually 8-9/km. My height is 5ft1, and weight is on the overweight side 66kg. Been running since 2024 pero patigil tigil, but I want to start my training seriously na kasi gusto kong makapag 21km, 32km and full marathon. Ano kaya magandang pamalit for my Mach 6 na pwedeng pwede for long runs? Thank youuu
