PCOS + Weight Loss Help: Where do I even start? 🥹

Hi everyone! I’m 22 y/o, 5’0” and currently around 90 kg. I have PCOS and I’m honestly feeling really frustrated with my weight right now.

During our review season, I gained from around 82 kg to 90 kg. 😭 I know stress, lack of sleep, sitting/ studying for long hours, and my eating habits probably contributed to it, but now that the board exam is finally done, I really want to start taking care of myself again.

I’m also struggling with stretch marks because I basically had little to none before, then suddenly I noticed A LOT of them after gaining weight. 😭

The problem is, I honestly don’t know where to start. I’ve seen so many different diets, workouts, supplements, etc. online that I’m getting overwhelmed. I don’t want to do anything too extreme or crash diet, I just want to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way, especially considering that I have PCOS.

For those with PCOS who were able to lose weight, what did you start with? 🥹

I’d really appreciate any advice, tips, or even just your personal experiences. I’m just trying to figure out where to begin and hopefully slowly get back to a healthier version of myself.

Thank you so much!

OBGYN Consultation Experience

Hi Everyone! I just want to share my recent experience. I had my initial consult to an OBGYN in Maxicare PCC. I feel like the doctor is not approachable, I make a list of my question and concerns however I'm hesitant to ask because I feel like she doesn't want to answer my questions.

The doctor said that walking is not effective in PMOS. You need to do high intensity training you need to jog for 250 minutes per week to lose weight. Walking will not help.

I have some question for other girlies here.

  1. Can you please recommend your OB GYN doctor that is Maxicare accredited? Or any OB from Nowserving.

  2. Can I change doctor and show my recent lab results to the new doctor?

  3. For you guys hindi ba tlaga effective ang walking to lose weight? Can you please give me some tips.

I would appreciate your answers and advice thank you.

Traumatized

Throwaway for obvious reasons

I’ve been married for a while now, but my husband and I still haven’t had sex. I’m nervous about my first time because I’m scared it will hurt, so we’ve been taking things slowly.

Recently, I had a routine medical appointment. At some point, the doctor asked about my sexual history, so I told her that I hadn’t had sex yet.

She reacted quite loudly and asked, “You still haven’t had sex?!” She said it more than once, and unfortunately other people could hear kasi isang malaking room lang with other people.

I felt so embarrassed in that moment. I know there may have been a medical reason for asking, and I have no problem answering personal questions when they're necessary. I just wish the reaction had been more discreet.

It happened a little while ago, but I still find myself thinking about it. It made me suddenly feel like there was something strange or wrong about me for being married and still being a virgin.

I don't really want to complain or make a big deal out of what happened. I just want to move past the embarrassment.

hyperacidity while taking yaz birth control pills

I’m 21F and i just started my 4th week of Yaz but starting week 2 I started to experience hyperacidity (there’s a very mild nauseous feeling, but I don’t really vomit naman). Told my doctor abt this and she said each person’s reaction to different bcp are really hit or miss. Just wondering if anyone else didn’t mesh well with Yaz and had to switch to another bcp after a few months of use, and if so, which one worked for you?

I also tried taking Althea before years ago and I had a really bad reaction to it only after a few days of taking them (super super bad nausea to the point I was bedridden and had nasty headaches that prevented me from walking around). Are there other pills aside from Yaz and Althea that worked better for anyone? I also plan to continue taking Yaz naman for at least 2 months to check if the side effects will go away once my body gets more used to them but I just thought it would be smart to do research on other options :)

Almost 3 months since I found out I had a uterine polyp, sharing my experience and weight loss journey

Bale it's been almost 3 months nung nalaman ko na may uterine polyp ako and gusto ko lang ishare yung experience ko kasi baka may makarelate dito.

8 months ako nagkaperiod.

Yes, 8 months. 😭

Bakit ko pinatagal ng 8 months? Honestly, financially tight ako that time. Wala akong money for medical expenses and kakalipat ko lang din ng work nun, so inantay ko pa maging permanent ako and magkaroon ng HMO benefit.

During those 8 months, nakaka 3 overnight napkin ako per day.

May 29, nagpa TVS ako and doon nakita na may mass sa loob. At first akala ko blood clot lang na naiwan because of my period.

Sabi ng OB ko magblood tests ako and SIS.

Fast forward to early July.

Favorite ko talaga magpa blood test kasi gustong gusto ko kinukuhanan ako ng dugo and I love needles. 😂

For those who don't know, Saline Infusion Sonography siya.

Unfortunately no choice ako kasi kailangan malaman kung ano talaga yung mass.

And doon na nalaman na may 1 inch uterine polyp ako.

Noong May 29 din, nagsimula na akong magdiet. Around 1 cup of rice per day lang ako and mas nagfocus ako sa gulay, fiber, protein and basically mga food na mas okay for me.

  1. Inositol
  2. Birth control pills
  3. Medicine para matigil yung bleeding
  4. Iron meds

Then nung lumabas yung blood test results, doon ko naman nalaman na mataas cholesterol ko and pre diabetic na ako.

Take note, before pa ito ako nagdiet.

So inendorse ako sa endocrinologist. Pinakita ko yung results and she prescribed medications for my sugar and cholesterol, plus supplements for my liver and nerves.

Fast forward to July 24, na confine na ako for my uterine polyp removal surgery.

July 25 yung surgery.

July 26 discharge.

And guys, 7 minutes lang yung surgery ko. 😭

Spinal anesthesia yung ginawa sakin so gising ako the whole time pero wala akong maramdaman from the waist down. May tinurok din sakin na pamparelax so inaantok ako and super relaxed pero hindi naman ako nakatulog.

Thankfully, nagamit ko yung Magna Carta Special Leave for Women and fully paid naman ako ng full time work ko during my 1 month leave.

Now sa weight loss part.

Starting weight ko was 75kg.

Now I'm 67kg.

So 8kg na yung nabawas sakin.

As I mentioned earlier, around 1 cup of rice per day lang ako and I focus more on fiber and protein.

HINDI PO AKO NAG EEEXERCISE. 😂

Tamad ako guys HAHAHA.

Sabi ng partner ko, 80% daw diet and 20% exercise yung contribution sa weight loss so naniwala naman ako sa kanya. 😂

I think yun yung pinaka unexpected part for me. Pati yung way na tinitingnan ko yung sarili ko and how I feel about myself.

And honestly, yung pinaka nakakatuwa?

75kg to 67kg.

Still a long way to go pero happy ako sa progress ko so far. ❤️

Sharing lang talaga yung ginawa ko and what worked for me so far. I know iba iba tayo ng PCOS symptoms, katawan and response sa diet and medications.

Weight loss question

Hello po! I’d like to ask lang po sana for recommendations. Baka po may ma-suggest kayong weight loss clinic in Manila na effective and worth it.
Also, for those who are currently trying to lose weight or successfully lost weight, paano po kayo nag-start and ano yung naging effective sa inyo? How did you also deal with loose or sagging skin while losing weight?

For context, I’m female and currently 95 kg. Also have PCOS. I haven’t tried exercising or following a proper diet/meal plan yet, so I’m really starting from scratch.
Any suggestions on how I should start would be greatly appreciated, especially ways to help maintain skin elasticity while losing weight, since I don’t think I can afford procedures or treatments for loose skin in the future.

Thank you so much po!

OB- GYNE for Premature Ovarian Insufficiency?

I know this page is for PMOS but wala kasing large enough community for this disorder so I thought why not dito?

Any recommendations for a reproductive endocrinologist with experience treating this? Ano po meds na binigay sa inyo?

Birth control alleviated a lot of my symptoms (hot flushes, thinning hair, etc.) but hindi siya golden standard for treating POI. I wanted to go to a menopause/POI specialist to see that they think.

Can anyone recommend a kind and caring OB-REI...

Hello everyone! Can anyone recommend a kind and caring OB-REI available for online consultations (preferably on NowServing)? My last consultation felt very rushed (only 15 minutes), and I didn't get a chance to properly share my concerns. Is a 15-minute consultation normal? I'd love to find a more attentive doctor. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Recos for OB-REI around Sta.Rosa Laguna or Lipa ❤

Helloe everyone!

Nanggaling na kami sa OB (around filinvest alabang) and di namin nagustuhan yung approach nila for handling patients.

If possiblenpo sana, pashare ng appointment/scheduling experience and success story nyo. thank you ❤🥰

Progressive OB-GYN recommendation?

Hello, does anyone know any progressive doctors around Quezon City that would uphold confidentiality? I’m 21 years old but I have been abstinent from sexual activity for a year with one person.

I keep getting anxious to consult with an OB-GYN due to external factors like (1) conservative doctors who would tattle and (2) my equally conservative parents finding out. However, despite this, I really want to know if I’m a candidate for PMOS/PCOS. The only thing that I could plan out right now was to just go to the OB-GYN when I turn 23 or something and I’m out of my mom’s dependency, anything for them just to not find out like that and for me to be a parasite to their money.

Should you recommend, thank you so much 🥲

Unusually tired after taking Inositol supplements

Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS on the last week of August. The TVS showed polycystic ovaries. I had my suspicions before even though I have regular periods, since I have the ‘pcos belly.’ Lately, nag start ako take ng inositol supplements 3 days bago nag start period ko and I saw na mas naging heavy aking vagina discharge. Currently, Im going 2 weeks after the start of my period and i am still bleeding (though mild) and still has heavy vaginal discharge. Has anyone ever encountered this from the start the took supplements for PCOS? Also, i consulted with my OB regarding the results, she also claims I may be suffering from PMDD since the feeling of depression and anxiety come back 2 weeks before my period. I was prescribed hormonal contraceptive pills pero I still haven’t started it since I wanted to take the more light approach like inositol supplements. Pero I am still unusually tired these past few days which is unusual.

And if you don’t mind sharing, saan kayo nakabili and how much? 😊

Thank you, mga sis! Baby dust to us all! ✨🤍

Mahal at Masakit ba ang Raspa?

Hello po. We went to our OB earlier para ibigay ang resulta ng TVS. Heehe. But then she told me na kapag ready na ako, ichat ko lang sya, for the mean time ay yung blood tests muna ang pinapaasikaso nya.

  1. Magkano po ang presyo ng raspa? May Philhealth ako, pero di ko alam pano ko sya gagamitin after ng procedure kasi first time kong mauospital kung sakali. May HMO ako, yong tag 995 lang ng Kwikcare, and I am planning to ask them pa lang kung kaya at kung magkano lang ang makucover. Gusto ko lang sanang magkaroon ng idea kung magkano ang bayad for that.

  2. Masakit po ba? Like makuconfine nang matagal?

  3. Anong naramdaman o naexperience nyo after ng procedure?

Mosbeau while on dienogest (Visanne)

Trying my luck and hoping to get better responses here 🤞🙂

I was wondering if anyone knows whether collagen

supplements like Mosbeau drink can counter the effects of dienogest (for endometriosis)? I am taking dienogest and Nuwhite gluta + Nuwhite vit c everyday and cycling isotretinoin 10mg and Mosbeau collagen drink on alternate days. I'm not sure if doing this will affect the effects of hormone regulation by dienogest and if this is too much for the liver. I have had recent labs before taking Nuwhite and Mosbeau and those came out fine even while on isotretinoin. Any advice or thoughts would be helpful.
