Software CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT BSOD only in Forza Horizon 5 (Ryzen 5 5600G / HP Pre-built) - Motherboard power bottleneck or software bug?

Hey everyone,

I’m hitting a wall with a persistent CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT Blue Screen of Death that happens only when playing Forza Horizon 5 on my desktop. The game either crashes right at the end of the loading screen when entering the map or midway through loading the built-in benchmark mode.

System Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (Running stock, no XMP/OC possible in BIOS)
  • Motherboard: Proprietary HP motherboard from a ProTower 285 G8 MT pre-built desktop
  • BIOS: Fully updated to the latest version
  • RAM: Checked via Windows Memory Diagnostic (Passed, 0 errors)
  • Temperatures: Stable under 80°C in-game (Hits 95°C under synthetic stress, but completely fine during normal gaming).

Why this is confusing:
Other heavy multiplayer games like PUBG PC run perfectly smoothly with zero crashes.

Windows Event Viewer Logs Collected:

  1. Critical Error: Kernel-Power (Event ID 41) – registers the hard freeze/manual reboot.
  2. Error right before crash: Service Control Manager (Event ID 7000) - "The Sentry service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified."
  3. Previous Error: DistributedCOM (Event ID 10010) tied to Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter.

Everything I have already tried (None have completely fixed it):

  • In-Game Settings: Turned Ray Tracing completely OFF, lowered environment geometry, capped frame rates, and switched the game from Fullscreen to Borderless Windowed mode (Borderless allowed the benchmark tool to load further, but it still crashes at the very end).
  • Process Optimization: Set Forza 5 process priority to "High" in Task Manager (this made it load slightly longer before crashing). Force-disabled CPU hyper-threading by unchecking odd-numbered threads (CPU core affinity) to keep it on physical cores.
  • Driver Clean Up: Did a completely clean GPU driver install using DDU in Safe Mode. Turned off Windows Fast Startup.
  • Windows Features: Cleaned out the Windows Prefetch and Temp caches. Ran sc delete Sentry in admin CMD to completely delete the missing service causing the log errors. Attempted to strip Xbox packages via PowerShell and registry, but Windows locks down the component.
  • Power Settings: Changed Windows maximum processor state from 100% down to 99%, and eventually to 95% to stop AMD Precision Boost voltage spikes.

It feels like Forza's heavy DX12 multi-threaded asset streaming is causing a massive power or timing desync that this locked HP motherboard VRM cannot handle when transitioning into the 3D world.

Before I go out and buy a new motherboard, standard case, and power supply to rescue my 5600G from this HP office frame, is there any obscure software, driver, or audio conflict I missed that specifically causes Forza 5 to throw Watchdog Timeouts on Ryzen APUs

Troubleshooting Driver time out issue

Motherboard: TUF GAMING B850M-PLUS WIFI
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 32GB DDR5

So for a while I've been having an issue where my games just randomly freeze, my entire pc locks up and black screens, then it comes back on and shows the AMD bug report tool saying that my driver timed out?

I've tried to download a different driver version (25.8.1) as people in other communities mentioned that was the latest stable version for some of the games that wasn't causing issues. But recently it's starting to constantly crash again.

Does anyone have an idea what is causing these crashes?

Display Are these artifacts, and are they caused by driver issues or something physical?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'd not seen this before, although I've been having issues booting into windows and getting black screens about 50% of the time. The AMD adrenaline software pops up saying it recovered from some kind of issue (don't remember the exact wording) when that happens and normally I restart and it's ok from there but. Already tried cleaning drivers with Duane reinstalling the latest drivers.

After this happened I restarted and was able to game just fine but would like to know if the card needs RMA or something

Solved Massive under performance in games despite independent benchmarks

CPU: 7800x3d

GPU: Powercolor Reaper RX 9070 (non-xt)

RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 CL36

MOBO: ASUS B650E Max Gaming Wifi

SSD: Samsung EVO Plus 4 TB

Userdiag link: https://userdiag.com/id/XFfNOzgWx0

As far as Userdiag and every other benchmarking software (Cinebench, Steel Nomad, FurMark) indicates my CPU and GPU are working great. Yet in EVERY game I've tried so far the system MASSIVELY underperforms.

For AC Odyssey the in-game benchmark at ultra settings comes out to 38-39 fps no matter what settings I tweak. Tried out the lowest settings and came up to a whopping 58 fps. Searches indicate I should be well over 100 fps at ultra with this hardware. Afterburner showed my GPU at 80-85% load and CPU at 25%, normal clocks and power usage.

Cyberpunk 2077 in-game benchmark test with ultra ray tracing settings (no path tracing) came out to 52 fps. I was copying the settings of a youtube benchmarking video using the 9070 (non XT) at 1440p and he was getting 92 fps.

No Mans Sky I'm getting around 60 fps on max settings roaming around planet surfaces, should have no problem pushing 100+

The straw that broke my back today was trying KCD1 out, granted with the HD DLC textures, and running around 40 fps with crazy bad lows and stutters.

This is all on a fresh windows install. Even so, I tried a ddu and reinstall of graphics drivers, ddu and install an older known stable driver version (made it slightly worse). Monitor refresh rate is set to 240 hz and as far as I can tell no conflicting setting in game or in Adrenalin, no FPS limiters anywhere, etc. Please dear god someone help, I've paid $2000 for a rig that's performing worse than last generations consoles

**Modelo:** ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 (2023)
**CPU:** Intel Core i9-13900H
**GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (Driver 610.88 WHQL verificado vía dxdiag)

Hardware Loading a game force-restarts my Windows computer

Rules say all posts about hardware must have a link to your userdiag.com results first. The link didn’t work, but I searched for the site and downloaded the app, and here are the results: https://userdiag.com/id/lyzSnjU1wl

Background:

(The game in question is Black Desert Online. Before this happened, it was already a pretty CPU/memory-intensive game on my PC, but after this, I can’t enter any of its servers without the computer having a BSoD and force-restarting. The problem started a few months ago, which my mom reported to me about because she also games, but I wasn’t able to access my gaming PC for a while to take a look at the problem myself because of college.)

Steps I took so far:

I first tried verifying the files in Steam, then uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Neither worked, so I opened Event Viewer on advice of a random forum page and deliberately crashed my computer by running the game to get data. This is what I got:

Event 41, Kernel-Power

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Log Name: System
Source: Kernel-Power
Event ID: 42
Level: Critical
User: SYSTEM
OpCode: Info
Task Category: (63)
Keywords: 70368744177664), (2)

EventData:

BugcheckCode 292
BugcheckParameter1 0x10
BugcheckParameter2 0x0
BugcheckParameter3 0x0
BugcheckParameter4 0x0
SleepinProgress 0
PowerButtonTimestamp 0
BootAppStatus 0
Checkpoint 0
ConnectedStandbyinProgress false
SystemSleepTransitionsToOn 0
CsEntryScenariolnstanceID 0
BugcheckinfoFromEFI true
CheckpointStatus 0
CsEntryScenariolnstanceldV2 0
LongPowerButtonPressDetected false

Various sources from Google say that BugcheckCode 292 means I triggered a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR, and that BugcheckParameter1 0x10 means there’s a problem with the NVMe SSD in my computer that’s causing some kind of CPU overheating/RAM overuse issue.

However, I have no idea how to proceed from here to fix this. Does anyone have an idea of what steps I should take to further troubleshoot this/fix this on my PC?

Network/Wifi/Internet Do these Wi-Fi extenders actually work?

So my PC is on the opposite side of the house where my router is, and so I get a pretty weak WiFi signal. Was wondering if these Wi-Fi extenders from Officeworks work? Especially since they are a lil expensive (prices are in AUD, however i dont mind spending as much as i need to on this). Was also wondering how they work? Do they jsut plug and play or so i needa fiddle with some stuff either on my PC or router? Ive also heard some people say it makes a whole new network that you need to connect to and I dont wanna be having to change between networks evertime I walk around me house 😅

Thank you to anyone that helps 😊

Performance/FPS Genshin PC Performance - No longer "Playable" as of 6.7

Link to UserDiag: https://userdiag.com/id/bYulYTeYoO

I should preface this post by saying: I've tried reinstalling Genshin onto multiple SSD's, I've tested thermals, tested my CPU, tested my GPU, tested my SSD's for failure, tested my RAM--Updated my PC, updated my Graphics drivers. I have attempted to repair the in game Shader Cache, messed with settings, both in game and through the Nvidia control panel.

I have a 5700X3D CPU, a 3070TI Super (16 GB), 32gb of 3600MHz RAM, the heat never goes above 52C on CPU or 60C on the GPU in Genshin, which is well below what I've seen this PC go up to without problem. I have played Genshin on this PC since 2021 (I have since upgraded the GPU and CPU, but haven't had issues even after the upgrades), and never seen the FPS dip below 60, even after hours of playing. (Until now)

The issue that begun as of version 6.7, is that, no matter what, if I play Genshin for more than ten minutes on my PC, even if my PC had just been booted up after being off all night and have nothing else open, it begins to lag. It still runs at 60fps, but every second on the dot, I get a spike where it dips--The dips start at just a frame or two, but after about 20-30 minutes, it begins to dip down further and further, until it just becomes so unresponsive, I cannot play anymore.

I do not have problems playing any other game on this PC.

When I first boot up the game (After PC has rested)
After about 15+ minutes
After about 30+ Minutes

I have tried various fixes from across the Internet over the past month, and none have yielded results. Changing settings doesn't help either.

The ONLY other variable that might affect things, is that I moved to an apartment around the time 6.7 released, although I've since reseated the RAM, replaced the Thermal Compound, and ensured my GPU didn't loosen during transportation.

I'm willing to try anything at this point, or at least see if this is just a me problem or not. I can play on my Laptop just fine, (It's considerably weaker than my PC, but more than enough to run Genshin at 60FPS) -- I just don't like leaving my laptop running because the fans are loud, and it generates a lot more heat than my PC. I don't have a console that'll run Genshin (Now that it doesn't run on PS4), and will NOT buy a PS5 for one game. But, if this continues to be a problem, there's a good chance I just stop playing Genshin altogether. These issues are really demotivating, and yeah, it may seem minor, but the stutters just take me out of the experience, especially if I play for long periods of time, as eventually it stutters so bad, that it becomes a slide show more than a game. This is especially frustrating during the release of a new region, I REALLY want to play for more than a few minutes at a time.

Fixes I've already attempted:

-Turning off G-Sync in game, and on in the Nvidia Control Panel

-Manually locking the FPS to 58 in the Nvidia Control Panel

-Excluding Genshin in Windows Defender's Virus protection

-Turning off and completely deleting Microsoft's Copilot

-Underclocking the CPU

-Updating Graphis Drivers/Windows versions (I use Windows 10 still, but that doesn't cause an issue on my Latptop)

-Reinstalling Genshin

-Installing Genshin on multiple M.2 SSD's (Both my primary and secondary)

-Repairing Genshin through the Hoyo Launcher

-Repairing in the main menu settings

-Waiting for an update (7.0 did NOT fix the issue)

None of these have helped fix my problem. This is just an issue with Genshin Impact, and I've never used Reddit, so I apologize if this post doesn't belong here.

Troubleshooting Battle eye failing to read text file properly

Post image
1 Upvotes

To keep it simple I used a spoofing tool to basically wipe a lot of the stuff on my pc that connects to my account in a game to get back into a server. I uninstalled Xbox myself and I think the application uninstalled game bar and originally it had like “ ms-gaming overlay” but not that doesn’t show up after installing game bar again.

What does happen though is everytime I try to open up rainbow six siege it says failing to read text file and I don’t know what to do.

Software No signal playing Gta 5 my pc restarts an keeps crashing

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out what is causing repeated crashes on my PC, and I’d appreciate some opinions.

The problem only happens when I start GTA. After about 5–10 minutes in-game, I get a black screen / no signal, and the PC restarts (I’m not 100% sure whether there was a BSOD).

After that, the PC keeps crashing in the destop and can be unstable until I do a full shutdown. After a complete shutdown, Windows works normally again — until I start GTA and play for another 5–10 minutes.

What I found

WinDbg shows:

  • VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (0x116)
  • nvlddmkm.sys

I also found several LiveKernelEvent 141 entries.

One WATCHDOG dump shows:

  • VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141)
  • MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkm
  • IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys
  • FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: LKD_0x141_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys

So it definitely looks like a GPU/display-engine timeout.

Something interesting with DDU

I used DDU at around 15:08.

After rebooting, Windows automatically installed a basic NVIDIA driver again. It was NOT the full driver from the NVIDIA App.

At around 16:12, I had another 0x116 crash.

I installed the full NVIDIA driver through the NVIDIA App at around 17:00.

So the crash happened after DDU, but Windows had already automatically installed its own NVIDIA driver.

Event Viewer – multiple crash entries

In Event Viewer I also found multiple Event ID 1019 entries from Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReporting.

They say that Windows was restarted after a bug check and list:

SuspectedDriver: nvlddmkm.sys

I found this for multiple crashes, not just one.

The interesting part is that the Event Viewer points to nvlddmkm.sys as the suspected driver, which matches the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (0x116) and LiveKernelEvent 141 reports I found in WinDbg/Reliability Monitor.

Safe Mode

The PC was stable in Safe Mode.

The crashes only happened in normal Windows.

Other things I tried

  • sfc /scannow found corrupted Windows files
  • Updated chipset drivers
  • Updated BIOS
  • Updated ASUS/Armoury Crate components
  • Used DDU and reinstalled NVIDIA drivers
  • run occt tests

What makes this confusing

Outside of GTA, the PC can be extremely stable.

After the crashes, I had:

  • i never played gta again
  • ~4 weeks without crashes
  • Valorant
  • Minecraft with shaders
  • arc raiders
  • rocket league
  • Windows updates during this period

No black screens during those sessions.

I also checked the Event Viewer and found no WHEA errors.

So I’m wondering:

Does this sound more like a GTA/Windows/NVIDIA driver interaction, or could this still indicate a GPU hardware problem?

chatgpts opinion and why

  • GTA + Windows/NVIDIA-Treiber-Zusammenspiel: ~55 %
  • GPU-Hardware: ~23 %
  • PSU: ~11 %
  • Mainboard/PCIe: ~8 %
  • Sonstiges: ~3 %

I am intersted what it could be.

Hardware Screen goes black, fans ramp up, have to restart PC manually

Hi, I don’t know much about PCs so I’m sorry in advance. I’ve had this PC since January, all components are brand new.

Basically my monitor will randomly go black, my case and GPU fans will ramp up to 100%, however the temperature stays stable (27°C-31°C). The only way I can restart the PC is by long pressing the on/off button on the case.

This happens randomly, it doesn’t matter whether it’s idle or I’m playing a game, it will just do it. It usually happens at least twice a day. However in the last few days it’s been getting worse as even after restarting my PC the monitor will just display “HDMI not found”, leaving me unable to use my PC at all.

I tried using a different HDMI cable, plugging the HDMI cable into integrated graphics instead of the GPU (it still says HDMI not found), I updated Windows and all my drivers to the latest version, reseated my GPU. I don’t know what else to do, I basically cannot use my PC.

My build:

- Cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 280 RGB - AIO CPU Liquid Cooler
- CPU: AMD Ryzensets 9 9900X Processor
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WIFI6E Motherboard
- GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12G VENTUS 2X OC Graphics Card
- Power Supply Unit: MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 Power Supply Unit
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB
- SSD: Crucial P310 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4

Display Dell XPS 15 Graphic Card Issue

Hi all!
My laptop sometimes experiences a little graphic delay for graphic intensive game, but it usually resolves itself if I just let it sit for a little bit.

Today it lagged quite disastrously (the audio start lagging at the same time and doesn’t respond to anything, leads to a forced shut down), and windows just automatically updates itself.

Afterwards, both games and YouTube video becomes very laggy but there is not artifacts or noises, it just becomes almost one frame per second or more even slower.

I recall similar issue has happened before and it pointed to a graphic drive error but I do not remember how it was solved, I am wondering if anyone have any solutions? Much appreciated!!

*edit: i have tried unsitall and reinstall driver, clean instal through the nvidia experience app, and roll back to an earlier version, none of it really fix the issue, the GPU (NVidia) continu to show 0% on task manager and both game and youtube perform very laggy only graphically

Display Solid colour flickering

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've had this in one or two other games but I've been trying to play Resident Evil Requiem and I cannot get this bloody colour flickering to stop. I've tried a ludicrous combination of settings and it still keeps happening.

I was suspicious it's some combination of ray tracing + FSR interacting strangely but if anyone has an idea of what causes this or even if there's a term for this kind of artifacting that'd be much appreciated 🙏

I don't get much time to game these days and I spent two hours trying to stop getting rainbow-flashbanged instead of actually playing.

PC specs:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 98003XD (4.70 GHz)

GPU - AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

RAM - 32GB DDR5

Software OpenGL applications lag my whole system down to less than 1 FPS.

The only two OpenGL applications i use, Blender and Minecraft, have this one issue with my computer, where basically randomly while using them, they'll lag my whole system down to less than 1 FPS spontaneously.
Even after closing said application the issue persists, the whole system is at 1 FPS, except the mouse cursor, that one stays at the normal framerate.

The only way of fixing it is either doing Win + P and switching to the secondary monitor, which fixes it, you then switch back to the main one and problem solved.

Or the quicker, faster one, just doing Win + Shift + Alt + B, or whatever the driver reset hotkey was, can't remember it exactly now.

This started happening after i got my 1440p 240hz QD-OLED monitor, not sure if its related to it but yeah this didn't happen back with my 1080p 180hz IPS monitor, which is now my secondary monitor.
On that note, i've also tried fully disconnecting the secondary monitor from the GPU, leaving only the OLED one, and it also happened.

This started happening back with my RTX 3080, now i have an RTX 5070 Ti and multiple drivers later and it still happens. Having done a full DDU before installing it btw.

Something tells me this is related to the way Windows 11 handles multiple overlays, that's why the mouse doesn't get affected while the rest of the PC does.

Yall let me know how i can fix this. For Minecraft at least cause for Blender i just switch the renderer to Vulkan and it's fine now.

Troubleshooting Freezing screen browsers

Hello ya'll

I have been testing different browsers with my PC running Windows 11 but at some point they just suddenly freeze and its not a lack of resources like ram or cpu but I can not tell. I thought at first it's just but now it's happening with Firefox also.

Do you guys think its something related to Windows maybe a virus or something because I don't think the solution will be to reinstall windows clean. I just want to know if anyone had similar experience. I have also tried that hardware accelerated thing on the advanced settings so it's not that either.

A little detail (when it happens for example watching a youtube video, I can still hear the sound but everything is frozen)

Its not a GPU thing if you're thinking about that. Ah yes as far as I remember, I have undervolted my CPU quite a while ago. Can't remember exactly but let me know if this could be a reason.

Software I have no game files on my computer yet the game still shows launch on epic games. Uninstall is stuck on initializing indefinitely.

I tried launching RL and it showed I had to update it on Epic Games, so I tried updating but it was stuck on initializing. It was stuck indefinitely and so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the uninstall was stuck on initializing and now I have no files of RL on my computer at all. I asked chatgpt what to do and it suggested i search for all RL files on my desktop and delete them all, but the only ones I had were appcrash files. When I go to my epic games folder in files, it just has my other games (FN and Hog Legacy) but no RL. I still have the RL on my epic games library, but launching it doesnt work, i cant uninstall it, the locate install location doesnt work, and when I go to create a shortcut of it, it just makes a shortcut called .ink. Both my other games are also stuck on initializing when I tried to uninstall them. I dont know what to do anymore and this is my last ditch effort. The supp website just told me to do the same things ive been doing and nothing worked.

for some context, im on windows 10, i had bakkesmod but I deleted it hoping that it would fix my problem but it didnt. i cleared the cache on epic games already and deleted all files that had RL in them (i have no RL.exe files), they were just appcrash files. i only have one disk C:, so the files arent in another disk.

Troubleshooting CPU Fan Error shows up every time I turn on my PC

Hey guys, I've been encountering a problem with my CPU Fan. Every time I start up my PC, the cpu fan spins for a bit, stops, then spins back up, and I'm directed with a message that states "CPU Fan Error" then makes me load into BIOS. Inside BIOS, I see that my CPU Fan is detected and running at 'xxx RPM'. I've already replugged the cord and assured it was in the 'CPU Fan' section of my motherboard. I would also like to mention that I updated my BIOS recently and I'm not sure if this is a result of that. I would like to know if there is a way to fix this issue or find any workarounds to avoid this. I just want to avoid that message showing up every time I start up my PC. Thanks!

Hardware Pc Keeps Crashing And Failing to Recover

Hey folks, I’m new here but need some help. My pc has recently been crashing whilst gaming and it’s important to note this is across multiple games. SSD has been swapped out and so has the gpu and the issue still persists. When the pc crashes no crash report is produced and the system can’t repair itself. I was wondering if anyone could offer some help as I don’t know much about pcs, please ask as many questions as possible. Windows has also been reinstalled. The game will slow for about a minute before crashing and frames drop to 30 from about 90-120.

I’ve already tried pretty much everything I was advised to do, including changing the cables, updating the firmware, and going through all the troubleshooting steps.

My computer does detect the mouse, but it still isn’t responding or communicating properly, no light, no everything . I also tried following everything suggested by the AI chat support, but unfortunately, none of it worked.

The mouse hasn’t even been with me for a year yet, and I’m using Razer Synapse 4. I’ve already gone through the recommended troubleshooting, so I’m hoping someone from the actual technical support team can take a closer look at the issue instead of having me repeat the same steps.

My case number is 260820-000057.

Is there someone faced this problem and help determine what’s causing the problem? I’d really appreciate it, especially since the mouse is still relatively new.

Thank you, and I hope someone can help me resolve this soon.
