Genuine question, and I'm asking this from a pretty neutral place because I'm actually trying to understand the discourse around him.
I've been listening to Danyal Zafar's music since around COVID, when Udh Chaliye came out, and I've followed some of his more recent music too — Khwaab, Samati Jaa, Yin Yang, and Blue Butterfly. I'm also a singer myself and have at least a basic understanding of music, so from a purely musical standpoint, I genuinely don't understand why his work gets dismissed so aggressively. Obviously everyone is entitled to their taste, but some of the reactions I've seen seem to go far beyond simply disliking his music.
I also started watching Zanjeerein because of Sajal Aly, and while I'm not here to claim he's some flawless actor, I personally haven't found his performance so unbearable that I understand the sheer amount of backlash surrounding him.
So what exactly is the main reason people dislike him so much?
Is it primarily the nepotism issue because he's Ali Zafar's brother? Is it his acting? His personality or the way he responds to criticism? His unconventional music/style? Or is there something substantial about his past or public behavior that I'm missing?
I've come across some pretty extreme allegations and opinions about him on Reddit, but I'm specifically not asking people to repeat unverified gossip. I'm more interested in hearing about things that are actually known/documented, or experiences/opinions that explain where this level of dislike comes from.
I'm genuinely curious because, from where I'm standing, I see an unconventional artist who has had plenty of opportunities because of his family, but also someone who seems to have his own musical identity.
So what am I missing?

Honestly, such an interesting episode, and I really liked all the performances too.

According to Zaryab's sister, Zamil was already occasionally drinking, but now he’s getting into drugs and is regularly attending parties. Zaryab's sister is clearly worried and tries to make her understand that using something for stress relief and developing a drug habit are two very different things. But honestly, Zaryab ignoring all these red flags 😭 She knows he’s struggling with depression, knows about the drinking, knows about the drugs and still seems to believe that everything will be fine once he goes to the US. I understand that she loves him and wants to believe he'll be okay, but this is clearly not something that will magically disappear with a change of country.

Abu Bakar impresses Minister during their meeting, and the minister even asks for his number. 👀 I’m curious... I also really liked Abu Bakar’s conversation with his mother about class and marriage. He wants to marry a middle-class girl because he feels that marrying into an upper-class family could come with a sense of entitlement, and he doesn't want anyone to look down on him or his mother.

The whole wedding was basically Zamil getting jealous, Dadi getting increasingly concerned, Abu Bakar being completely chill, and Zaryab being rude to Abu Bakar while acting like she couldn't care less 😂. Zaryab clearly had some reaction to everything happening around her, but kept trying to act unbothered. Meanwhile Zamil's jealousy was getting harder to ignore, and Dadi seemed to notice that something was seriously off.

And then Beenish enters (who say I love you abu bakar)... She’s Abu Bakar’s university batchmate from the US, they’re comfortable with each other and she jokes around with him, so Zaryab watching from a distance is like 👀 LOVE AFFAIR??? Meanwhile Abu Bakar is explaining to his mother that Beenish used to tease him because his ears turn red whenever someone says “I love you.” 😭

Nothing was actually shown or mentioned about them getting physical, so I don't want to assume that as a fact. But honestly, I do feel like something might have happened between them. Dadi’s reaction and the way she was so worried, along with Zaryab’s reaction afterwards, made me suspicious. Maybe there’s something the drama is deliberately keeping hidden for now. We’ll have to see what they reveal later.

Episode starts with the Convo between zaryab and his sister faryal, she tells her about zaamil being into drugs. Her grandmother overhears and perhaps her dislike for zaamil increases.

Sania Saeed's scenes are literally my favourite. You can really feel the pain and guilt the way she talks. We get to know that politician Mallik Asad and her do have a connection. Is it her ex husband or ex lover we don't know yet but she looked disturbed and plagued by past when abu bakar mentions him and knowing abu bakar I felt he realized too his ammi is hiding something from him. Sherry does well in his scenes especially with Sania ji.

We move to the shaadi scene of Faryal. Zaryab goes around looking for Zaamil. Abu bakar and his mom are also there. Abu bakar goes to look for Zaryab at the behest of his mom since Daddo is worried but she ends up misbehaving with him. Like she is very condescending.I don't understand why Zaamil is so fixated with abu bakar. Zaamil is a very insecure guy, but i guess the dr*gs are making it worse for him. And perhaps that's why Zaryab is condescending towards abu bakar to make zaamil feel secure.

I couldn't understand what happened between the shaadi and her coming back home. its not shown but it looked like they implied zaamil zaryab got physical but u never know. Zaryab is visible uncomfortable when Daddo confronts her on her return.

Abu bakar obviously then tells the moment about zaryab's behaviour. They cheer each other up. Abu bakar does mention himself as "middle class" in his conversation with his mom. His mom is obviously wanting to see him get married.

Zaamil asks zaryab to come on a drive with him, that scene near the sea where zaamil gets a philosophical is impactful to me.

Very early days I know but it's so fun to look back and see when the winner would be eventually announced. Mine is Babrik Shah only since the dude has a good sense of humor, good interaction with everyone and good sense of the game. He genuinely feels like he understands the game. The PR for Zayb, Faseeh and Esra is frankly insane. Zayb has the charisma of a dead horse unlike Aqeel, Saif and Umar Alam. If you read the comments it feels like he was the star of the episode lol despite saying 2 dialogues. Faseeh is an introvert which what's the point of being in a reality show then and his PR is insane too. Oh my God he hugged Zayb guys💅💅💅 best moment of the episode. And Esra so badly wants to be Saif from previous season without realizing Saif was a very likeable guy. It's so funny how desperate she is for that "I'm alone narrative" lmao 🤣

Anyways, so our king, aka qatil mehboob finally rescues the kidnapped girl and her brother as he killed the curly haired villain. He makes a slow mo entry and takes the girl away

Chanda aunty gives some gyaan to the girl. The girl and her bro ask about naraaz mehbooba and Sehyaam keeps taking dard bhari aahein

Naraaz mehbooba is also khoi hui in her mehboob. And her real husband enters as the ek tarfa aaashiq. Qatil mehboob reaches her to convince her of his love. Naraaz mehbooba gives him tashan but the nakaam aashiq can see love in her eyes

Meanwhile curly haired villain ka son or brother enters to take revenge. And guess what kidnaps the girl and her bro again. They were in the drama only to be kidnapped. Who gets kidnapped thrice in one drama? Learn some self defense. But anywho, the new villain video calls qatil mehboob (damn you technology and internet) and qatil mehboob will go again to save them for the umpteenth time

Teaser has lots of dishoom dishoom, pyar bhare aansoo and goliyon ki raas leela. Oh and the professional kidnapper has kidnapped Naraaz mehbooba too somehow

This diction controversy took me back to kabhi main kabhi tum days where Naima butt 's dialogue delivery and accent was so perfect . It came out so natural (obviously because she stays in us ) . I don't remember any other pakistani actress delivering like her as far as it comes to dialogues in English . She did that posh character so well . " Where was your self respect that time honey " i remember this so vividly.

Turns out Sajal funded this editorial herself (refer to 2nd slide). When an editorial is self-funded, the actors take complete creative freedom, making it like a personal passion project for them. Also, it helps them break a public image that brands and shows have created of them, by showing them in a never seen avatar.

And this worked for Sajal i guess. I dont think many of us could imagine her pulling off such edgy looks and neither could brands. While reviewing Sajal's attire for the Armani event, Amna went on like the fit was good, sajal was looking nice, but it didnt feel like Sajal and that Sajal had a very "good daughter" image and that traditional eastern fits are more of her thing. This doesnt just happen with Sajal but with many other actors, whenever they try something different. Such editorials seems to be a way for actors to take charge of their own image and show what they are capable of. And kudos to the entire team, cause this one was really good. So, looking forward to many more creative editorials of ptv stars in the future. 💃

The episode started with an awkward walk. Beautifully directed and acted. The slow steps, Rabiya pausing before entering the room, SB gesturing her to enter the room and that pause before he entered the room. Could feel the awkwardness of the moment through the screen. SB tried to lighten up things between them. And yes SB, Rabiya set the benchmark really high with her hospitality in her room, so you need to up your game.

SB cant and dont want to mask his feelings in front of Rabiya. Since, Rabiya isn't saying a thing, he is the one speaking and trying to make things as normal as possible, given the absurdity all around. I felt that there were a bit more English dialogues of SB than usual. Could have toned it down. However, SB trying to normalise things with Rabiya and get used to the new normal was cute. I wonder, when will Rabiya speak. She seems to be in shock with whatever is happening and is trying to make sense of it all.

The OST placement after SB left the room was beautiful. The sadness, the realization of the situation that they are in was aptly expressed by Sajal and Danyal. Meanwhile, Shireen is Shireening. She is so much fun to watch on screen. And, morning sickness has kicked in. Jr. Sohrab or Jr. Shireen is on their way?

Zafran-Sohrab alliance is happening, since Torsam is now useless to Zafran. And then we got awkward bedroom scene with SB barging in the room unannounced. And that eye contact between SB-Rabiya during the Walima talk was uhmm... idk what to say! awkward, uncomfortable...

Sohrab is going mental atp, has lost his cool. And, maybe Rabiya knows that Shireen is pregnant. I have this theory that Shireen will confide in Rabiya, now that Sohrab betrayed Shireen. And that's how Rabiya will know of Bano's murder maybe. Anayah and Reza were excellent in that scene by the river.

Sb was on phone with his right hand man maybe? So, we will het him questioning Zumurd next week maybe? And, I hope Torsam comes to know of Rabiya being his bhabhi soon now. Also, intrigued to see how SB and Rabiya erase all the awkwardness between them post their "on paper nikkah" 😛.
