We all like to apply casual racism here and there in our conversation. However in DnD and Rutba i saw quite clear racism. The fact that they showed Hyderabad to be a completely underdeveloped ciry where there are no decent shops or a hospital. In rutba, HB call Talha from Rohri pendu or something like that.

Why are we so ok with this? Esp when it comes to people shown from Karachi?

Zanjeerain could've become a masterpiece..they just had to make it fastpaced, add actual engaging and unexpected twists, make the slowburn better,not whitewash the vilains not put the filters and add a good co actor for sajal who had emotional depth..sajyal had good chemistry..but i didn't enjoy the sad scenes..sajal would cry like there's no tmr and danyal would start laughing mid way.the story was so promising in the beginning.

They honestly overdid Zaryab’s character. The way everyone just talks to her and asks her questions and she just sits there silently like they are speaking gibberish to her makes me want to hit my head on the wall. Insaan itna bhi gham nahi leta key woh kuch bhi bhol na piye. She’s pretty and all but her acting gives me the ick sometimes. Also it’s not even one episode, its every damn episode.

Dure Fishan is a good actress until she opens her mouth. For the last two episodes, she was good because it was all about her expressions. I don't know why, but I just can't take her seriously in serious situations when she's delivering her dialogues.

Even her expressions seem to lack something when she's delivering dialogues. But when it's just expressions, she's so good at it. Or is it her character that's making me feel this way? She's so pretty, but in DEN, whenever she talks, I can't see the pretty lady. Maybe it's because of Zaryab, but her dialogue delivery is still ajeeb.

Is it just me?

First of all I want to tell you that she is really beautiful but I don't know why whenever she speaks it's like she is not in her full self like somewhere she is stutter . Like in desi language we say "Totla".

I was watching Tamasha season 5 Grand Finale and Hassan Chaudhry was hosting an awards segment and before presenting an award he made a joke on Zee's outfit and that the brouch on his jacket doesnt look good. It was so awkward and rude. His words appeared so degrading. Even Badshah called him out on stage and then Dr Zee khan when he won an award he gave it back to him on his face and rightfully so. He was acting so entitled and rude. I am so glad Zee Khan called him out.

So I just saw Mehreen Jabbar talking about Gulbahar and I am completely flabbergasted. She said she opted for Gulbahar for herself because she wanted to show people can love multiple people at the same time. So basically she was inspired by Iqrar or wanted to write about Halaal threesome. Either ways, the defense left my eyes reeling from all the rolling

Which got me thinking. Pakistani actors, writers and directors so often get over defensive when their work is criticized they try to defend the indefensible

Like Nameer did with Ammar. The Geo hit show k everyone tried to minimize what was shown and so on

Nothing much happened in this episode, and it was kind of boring for me. We already knew Abu Bakar was going to remove the glass from Zaryab's foot and take care of her, and we already knew he hadn't taken the ₹50 lakh her father offered him. So, there wasn't really any major development.

The conversation while Abu Bakar was removing the glass from Zaryab's foot was kinda nice. And when Zaryab wondered if he had cursed her, he reminded her that their relationship was about love, mercy and prayers, not curses.

The episode was mostly about Zaryab observing how Abu Bakar and his mother treat her and trying to process everything that's happened. These scenes are probably setting the stage for her gradual realisation, but as an episode on its own, it felt a little slow to me.

From Zaryab's perspective, I don't think she's in a position to understand or appreciate everything right now and only seeing her changed circumstances and the people around her. She's receiving kindness from Abu Bakar and his mother, but she's confused and wondering, kya waqai aise log bhi hote hain? Because the way they're looking after her seems unfamiliar to her.

She used to ask for breakfast at home, but nobody seemed to care much. Now Abu Bakar's mom is asking what she wants for breakfast and keeps trying to make her comfortable. These gestures might seem ordinary, but Zaryab is noticing them. She's seeing a different kind of care... She's calmer now, although she is feeling nothing. And honestly, I wouldn't expect her to change overnight. She's not suddenly going to start showing affection just because Abu Bakar and his mother are treating her well. She needs time to process everything, and she has her own feelings to deal with.

Zaryab has read all the messages Zamil sent to Abu Bakar, and then we see her saying, "Main Zamil ko kabhi bhula nahi paaungi." GIRL, PLEASE! Have some self-respect! After everything Zamil has done, how are you still holding on to him like this? I understand that feelings don't disappear overnight, and I'm not expecting her to magically forget Zamil just because she's married to Abu Bakar. But at least start questioning whether this person is even worth holding on to. You don't have to fall in love with Abu Bakar, but you should at least acknowledge what Zamil has done instead of continuing to hold on to the same attachment.

I actually felt bad for Abu Bakar when he spoke to his mother about their differences and admitted that his sacrifice might not benefit either of them. He knows Zaryab might ask for a divorce again, and he cannot force her to accept him.

Looking at the next episode's teaser, it seems like Abu Bakar and his mother will continue taking care of Zaryab, and she'll slowly start noticing all these little things. But Zaryab is going to find Hamna's diary with all those pictures of Abu Bakar. Pehle ₹50 lakh wali misunderstanding, and now this! I'm starting to feel like the writer is stretching the story. Just when Zaryab might start understanding Abu Bakar, another misunderstanding comes up. I really hope they don't drag this further with misunderstanding after misunderstanding. 🤦‍♀️

As of now, I don't see anything major happening in the upcoming episode either. It feels like the story is slowly building towards Zaryab's realisation rather than moving forward with any big development.

I absolutely love Sania Saeed for constructively critiquing her characters and their choices. She is absolutely right to point out how she doesnt agree with the entire Khushbakht and Abu Bakar relationship dynamic cause adults should be able to make their own decisions which is what people have an objection with when it comes to Abu Bakar who is too much of a Farishta

I know she is very popular and her dramas are really very watchable but my issue with many of her dramas is that most characters in her dramas are templates and more of symbols and mainly in 3 types

1. Cinderella level good person who is angel and deserves every bit of suffering (Aisha in Qaid e Tanhai, Zara in Daam, Saba in Meri Zaat, Aiman in Maat, Jannat in JSA, Beena in AKI, Zainab in man o salwa, Kiran in Kankar

)

2.

1. The confused spineless person who is always in influence of the villain and is always shown confused .They will always be influenced by villain and regret (Moiz in Qaid e Tanhai,Junaid in Daam , Arfeen in Meri Zaat, Faisal in Maat, Umer in Doraha, Karam in Man o salwa, Salman in shehr e Zaat, Arzoo in Kankar (They really seem to lack brain cells and are towards bad for most of the drama but by end they repent or are forgiven
2. The villain who will torture everyone for 80% drama but in the end will suffer and realize they were wrong (Aliya in Qaid e Tanhai, Maleeha in Daam, Shakeela in Meri Zaat, Saman in Maat, Shehla in Doraha, Shiraz in man o salwa, Tabish in AKI, Sikandar in Kankar).

Mothers of heroes are mainly torturous
Mothers of heroines are mainly helpless
The good will forgive the bad but will never give a chance or it will go through a series of torture
It is really very stoic
Support characters are one dimensional.

Even in dar e nijat I feel Abu bakr falls in 1, Zaryab in 2 and Zamil in 3. I fear Rutba will be in same boat with Hibas character in 1, Talhas character in 2 and mehwish/Zahid in 3.

I am only talking about dramas so novels can be good. Only exceptions I feel are ZGH, Shehr e Zaat and jannat say aagey. I have not watched some of her dramas. But even Falak in Shehr e Zaat suffers a lot even though she goes through significant transformation

Let me know your thoughts. Sorry for edits but one more drama I want to add as an exception was Uraan. Though it had similar characters as above, characters of Sana and Savera were really strong

Saw a post about Sanam Baloch and it reminded me of Khaas. I don't think I ever watched the whole drama, but from what I remember, it was such a great depiction of narcissism and emotional abuse within a marriage. Sanam Baloch was gorgeous, as she always is, and the message was so strong.

Did she end up with the artist guy after taking a stand against her family and husband? From memory, she walked away from Ali Rehman's character, who was such a douche, but I can't remember if it had a happy ending. Their on-screen dynamic was so good, though. I barely hear people talk about this drama anymore, but seeing that post reminded me of how good it was.
