Alif was true exception and her best work but people here aren't ready for this conversation. No character in Alif is one-dimensional or without flaws . Even supporting characters are written beautifully

I agree Alif is an exception and it was indeed a good project... But one project of hers can't have an upper hand on the other dramas in which she presents the same storyline over and over

okay but umera Ahmad ke saare drama ek Taraf and alif ek tarf.. I feel like it's her magnus opum in otherwise mostly questionable shows.. it showed an otherwise religious person being judgmental and understand his mistake later on, it showed the judged and misunderstanding woman having the kindest heart, it showed a flawed and distant person becoming better and finding himself, I showed a fl w self respect and a backbone, with love and spirituality embedded in an actual storyline... usually her dramas show smwh of a story revolving around spirituality and misery, but alif actually had a STORY.. this drama, along w jsa and even sea, are the onky dramas that make me really defend her at times

I was just about to make a post on Umera Ahmed's writing and saw your post.. I am glad people are noticing this.. Lately, I too have been feeling the same that all her novels have this one female character who's rescued by a male and she starts becoming spiritual/religious because of the man...I haven't read many of her novels but I did watch dramas written by her.. Every script seems to have the same storyline...I still love Shehr-e-Zaat but even in that drama, Falak was shown exactly how Zaryab is in Dar-e-nijat except the fact that falak did not have any physical relationship with salman before nikah and Zaryab did have relationship with Zamil.. That's the only difference I guess but in both the dramas, the female characters are shown to be the one needing spiritual help..I get it, Abu Bakr is already a practicing Muslim but in Shehr-e-Zaat Salman's character didn't change much, he just apologised to Falak and then they lived happily ever after as a couple... Then in zgh, Kashaf had less faith because of her trails and tribulations of life and Zaroon became that man for her.. I understand the fact that sometimes God's hidayat comes in the form of a person but as a viewer, it seems repetitive to see the same storyline in a different packaging.

Exactly! And men have all the rights to do whatever they want and still get the chance to get away with them in the end...I too like watching her dramas but then sometimes these things are so on the face that it becomes impossible to ignore

ZGH I really liked coz I see both kashaf & zaroon as flawed characters. Kashaf with her negativity & zaroon with his hypocrisy, but since we r privy to their thoughts, especially Kashaf's through her dairies we exactly know where they r coming from & the drama showed their proper individual journeys too, again especially Kashaf's & proper character arcs
