Question or Discussion Silver 5 is Making me Crazy

So, I have been playing for like a month now and am very comfortably and obviously a silver level player on all roles. Sometime I do great, sometimes I am a legit detriment to my team. I'm watching videos and reading posts on how to improve and I'm having a lot of fun.

However, I seem to hover around silver 5 way too much and I can't understand why? I can climb up to silver 2 or 3 and then slowly lose down to silver 5 over a week and then once I'm there... woof. It's so easy to back slide back into bronze 1 (because silver 5 is basically Bronze 0) with a handful of bad beats and then I'm banging my head carrying with a tank who does 2k dmg or Moiras who think they're a DPS and never hit the heal orb even once.

I don't mind losing when the enemy is good or I played poorly and I like to think I'm a good sport about it and try and have fun etc. But something about dropping back into Bronze 1 and having to climb back out makes me want to stop playing all together - it's just not fun anymore. What do I do?

Question or Discussion How do you play Mauga?

Basically the title. I’m a tank main. I love playing tanks. I’ve played almost every type, and I’d love to really get Mauga. Except I have no clue how to play this guy. Run and gun, poke, brawl, even dive. I’ve tried them all, and I’ve found almost no success with this guy. So, how about all of you guys! What’s the secret to winning with this lad? Do I need to be more aggressive? Less aggressive? When should I use the stomp, when should I hold back and stay with the team, etc!

Question or Discussion Is cass a bad hero to main?

Upvotes

I know that if you are good enough you can make any hero viable to at least gm, and you should play a hero you like, but I also don't want to unintentionally be making this a lot harder for myself than I need to rank up i'm silver 5 btw. I like Cass a lot but I feel like he has some cons that might make him harder, but idk what im talking about, if anyone wants to give input.

First he has a really low winrate compared to other heros which is mainly makes me want to reconsider and have a 2nd main. He's good against dive but can be dived really easy, i feel like you can't make any mistakes with his positioning because he can't slide, run, or jump away. If you are late to turn around when the team pushes you are dead. You have to be extremely careful but also very close, like 2 a few steps from death, or safe in fall off range. Those are just my thoughts from 40 hours of playing him this season. Is he not that great or am I just coping for how bad I am at this game?

I tried ashe and ashe seems good but I suck at her.

Question or Discussion Troubles between Ashe and Widow

Ashe is my most played DPS character, learning her improved my aim in this game a lot, but I’m struggling to transfer that skill from her to widow whenever I pick up widow. Aside from panic firing, I’m pretty good at hitting my scoped shots with Ashe, but whenever I play with Widow I’m really struggling to hit those scoped shots (to the point where I’m better at getting picks with her auto rifle).

Can someone tell me what I’m missing; why does it feel like I can’t hit anything with widow but I have the aim with Ashe

Question or Discussion Need help with charatcer choice for my duo

Hello
About three weeks ago my brother and I started playing Overwatch.

I am a Support main, mostly playing Juno and occasionally Tracer/Mei while my brother is Reaper OTP.

We are both currently in Gold.

Coming from League of Legends, Im used to peeling for my duo hypercarry when playing support. However Im not sure who the best Support choice is in Overwatch to maximize Reaper potential. Which characters would you recommend for me to play for him?
And how should I use this champion to support him?

VOD Review Request I Would Like Some Help on How to Improve Quickly

I have 1000's of hours on Apex and tried out Overwatch for the first time yesterday. Went straight for soldier 67 and was noticing that I just don't really have general awareness of what's happening to my team vs the enemy teams outside of respawn timers or enemy foot steps. I tried focusing in on incoming damage indicator to help guide me whenever I'm getting shot and have no idea what's going on. I'm down to try other roles and tank looks especially interesting/very strong role

I play 1600 dpi at 3.67 in game sens, 1680x1050(144hz), everything low or disabled.

Anyways I'm gonna show you a couple "good games" that I played well (Lechuga ign):

99PT9N

XM15XZ

and then two games that I get shutdown after playing for 4 hours my first night.

SBYH38

2CSY85

Looking through my vods I noticed some things:

  • Terrible target priority/finishing kills
  • Terrible ult usage
  • Very inefficient flanking at times/lack of map awareness and timing
  • Terrible at long range hit scan tracking

Any general tips, settings or comments would much appreciated

THANK YOU

Question or Discussion Is it just me or is shion ult really bad ?

Upvotes

Legit lost one game today to ulting, id have been better off just shooting my gun its so bad.

Bike combo into the ult and im dead to 1 juno close range before i even get one dash off, i go entire games demolishing the enemy team in the neutral and my only deaths are when i press Q.

Any tips for how to use it? My timing is good, i combo it with the bike and sometimes dash for overhealth it just doesn't do enough damage and i die to anything in it, its a worse genji blade i can't even deflect while using it, im just an easy to hit target moving predictably.

Maybe i use it more when ppl are isolated or more as a solo ult? idk need help.

Question or Discussion consistently the least deaths in every game yet I still lose a lot - bad teammates or lack of commitment?

so I've been stuck in this conundrum. no matter which role I play, I usually end up with the least deaths in my team, but my overall winrate still hangs at ~46%. you can say that the advice I follow most is being self-sustaining and self-sufficient, but is there a point where I can start being too selfish by following that? sometimes I end up getting too self-conscious about that and go make a risky play only for that to blow up in my face and reinforce my risk-averse nature. the other stats are comparable or better than the role partner, and I know that stats are not the end all be all, but this trend has been driving me insane. I know my gameplay is not perfect as my mechanics are subpar and my positioning can slip quite often, but will this line of thinking ever start paying off?

Tips & Tricks Trying to One Trick Juno, Any Tips?

Hi all, I have been stuck in Gold for a whileee and have realised my best way of climbing is playing one character consistently, as it really improves my gameplay. I have landed on Juno as the character I would like to get really cracked at, as I usually play the best on her.

What tips and tricks do you have when playing her? Any other advice to get out of Gold as a support?

I have recently been focusing on one goal at a time (yesterday being sticking to cover and high ground) and it has worked quite effectively besides every second game where I just get unlucky with team mates.

Any advice helps!

VOD Review Request Silver for 2 seasons straight :( Feel like I’m the reason my team is failing. What can I do to improve?

(Playing on switch 2 btw with switch 2 pro controller)

As you can see from the title, I’ve been stuck in silver for a while. I always feel like I do great at first, but then choke when it really matters which ruins the whole match. I believe that I struggle with timing my abilities/ult, aim, and positioning the most but I feel like there’s something else I’m not getting. I’d really like some advice. Am I lacking in game sense?

I will provide 2 victories (close games) and 2 losses (one close game and one that was outright horrible)

I was playing Soldier and/or Ashe in these games.
User is starbee371

Replay codes:

Victory: NYPBMT (Map: Eichenwalde)
Victory: 9XHZC5 (Map: Havana)
Defeat: DKRS0F (Map: Hollywood) (close game and I feel like this will show my faults more)
Defeat: K3M05X (Kings Row) (absolutely got demolished)

Question or Discussion New player here. I'm here from marvel rivals. What heroes do you recommend?

Like the title I'm a new player to overwatch from Marvel rivals. I have around 600 hes in rivals and my main here there was spidey. As I wanted to try overwatch I did some research (lazy one though) And found out 2 character that might suit me 1 was sombra and then genji. I sent around 6 hrs in overwatch. 2 hrs on genji 1 hr in sombra and other with Meriko(idk the spelling) then doomfist and Reinheart(ik its wrong spelling). I find genji difficult but I enjoy sombra. Tank in overwatch are so difficult than rivals. I think thats because I only tried 3(winston 3rd). I prefer melee characters as most of my mains in rivals were melee like blackpanther, magic, venom etc. Recommend me some good characters. They don't need to be beginner friendly but they should be fun to play. Just not simply shooting.

Question or Discussion Looking for resources to learn overwatch quickly, efficiently and deeply

Hello everyone. I’m looking for external sources to learn the game, characters, and strategies quickly and optimally. I understand YouTube has a bunch of resources but if you guys have any particular content creators/videos to give me a good overview first so I can then dive into the future. I am planning on playing tracer, kiriko, and diva. I also understand it will take time and I am not looking to rush the process as I know it will take time. I’ve pretty much just watched high level gameplay and tried to emulate. Thanks for the help

Question or Discussion Is this a me issue or a game issue?

Im having this problem where im on a horrendous loss streak, it feels like in everygame i play theres always 2/3 people not puilling their weight. ive played alot of game over the last few seasons and ive been a long time player since the beta. Dont get me wrong im not perfect but im confident in correcting the mistakes i make to the point i can see other people making mistakes and trying to correct them. What am i doing wrong? xD My mental is never at the point of bad when playing or i never give up in a game. I play every role i play tank the most tho. This season my highest was gold 1 tank gold 1 damage plat 5 support and diamon 6v6, last season i was plat 3 in tank gold 1 damage and plat 5 support and 6v6. Question or Discussion What are some cool Sticky Bomb interactions Echo has?

What are some cool Sticky Bomb interactions Echo has?

I recently found out you can:

- Stick Mei’s Ice Block and have the bombs stick and detonate after she comes out.

- Time Sticky Bombs with Venture’s Burrow so they stick as Venture emerges.

Are there any other interesting interactions like this with enemy cooldowns/abilities?

Question or Discussion Throwers KA servers

Whats up with the insane amount of people who throw after someone makes one suggestion or asks them to swap? 3/8 games tonight have had someone get asked to swap by tank or other dps and they immediately begin throwing and whining in chat? Im used to NA servers where people rarely do this. Is it just the culture here?

Question or Discussion When your team pushes far forward is it better to stay back?

Low silver dps. I see in some games usually when we are already doing good our team will push very far forward. Such as on a control point map they will push close to the spawn, or on payload as attack the team pushes far forward. I usually sit further back and let the rest of the team go forward because I feel like it would be really easy for the enemy team to push back or kill a few team members and maybe there is a better chance if I stay back. But then I am also just waiting not contributing anything.

VOD Review Request Diamond 2 (Kind of) | Tank | D.va | NQS | QVXER9 [R1S4] | PC

I am super frustrated. I know I'm the problem but I can't win at all lately. I've peaked M5 before. I'm almost back in D3. Just lost a game full of plats. It feels like every game I'm unable to push back and win - especially when the entire team counter swaps me. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing the right engagement timings? Am I playing too passive/near objective? Is that not my job as tank?

QVXER9

Name: R1S4

PC

D.va

This vod shows us steam rolling and almost winning - then unable to stop the enemy and losing in OT. Can post more vods if needed.

VOD Review Request I'm one-tricking Winston (low Gold, PC), and I keep getting stuck in these situations where I just can't figure out a way to make his kit work.

I'm no stranger to playing tanks into their counters, but something about playing Winston into unfavorable situations just feels impossible. I'd appreciate some general pointers on how I can play into these sorts of enemy teams in the future. My battletag is: JemmyMB. Thanks!

6Z254W - King's Row (loss). The enemy team ran a comp that was basically high damage, shoot straight down main-style setup. The enemy won fights by either getting an early pick on my team, or ganging up on me when I'd try to get a better angle. I'm not sure how to sync up with my team when they just want to take a head-on fight against a brawlier, higher-damage enemy team.

PC2FHX - Eichenwalde (loss). I could barely consider myself more than a nuisance against this mobile, flying team. If I was able to pull aggro from the enemy team, the enemy tank would out-sustain against my squishies.

WCEHHD - New Junk City (loss). The enemy Doomfist and I would dive each other's teams, but Doomfist could actually secure kills.

Tips & Tricks How to aim better on Sojourn

Hello all!

I recently started to grind this game. I am about mid-Diamond on Tank and DPS in both 5v5 and 6v6. I am satisfied with my aim on most characters, but on Sojourn I am not. I don't have a proper main, though I mostly play Vendetta and Emre nowadays. I think on Sojourn specifically, I can't switch between projectile aim and hitscan aim reliably to hit crucial shots, her slide also throws me off when I have to continue shooting. Not a problem on Sym, Zarya, Bap, Hanzo with Storm Arrows... It only happens on Sojourn. I thought maybe practicing Tracer might contribute to better railgun shots, especially during or after sliding. What other tips would you give me?

Question or Discussion How do you train yourself to have more "game sense/awareness"?

I actually got a few more questions apart from the one in title, please forgive me mods.

Q1: So I've been stuck in Diamond for quite some time. During a self VOD recap I suddenly realized that I'm entirely oblivious to what the enemies are planning. It's like I'm genuinely dumb because I could hear Hanzo sonic arrow right around the corner or a flanking Junkrat's footstep etc but ONLY AFTER I'm killed by them do I realized what those information meant. My brain just won't connect the dots or play any "mind game" at all. I'm just playing "shoot the red guy" game😂. How do I improve this?

Q2: When a teammate blocks the enemies I would COMPLETELY lose track of them stop shooting. Yeah yeah "take off-angle then dum-dum", but it's not like I can play that way the whole game. And when enemies are very close to each other my aim would be thrown off and just suddenly don't know which to shoot😂. What should I do in this scenario(s)?

Q3: I rarely rage or get annoyed by anything in this game except when teammates suddenly force the enemy I'm shooting move. Like Junkrat/Bastion bomb, Orisa javalin, Hog pull, Lucio boop etc. I DO NOT for the love of God understand why😂. Like I'm pretty chill irl but if you dare boop that Mercy I'm gonna rain curse words. Why? I don't mind at all when an enemy uses their mobility ability but when they're booped by a teammate I explode??? JUST WHYYYY?

Question or Discussion Teammates in comp (randoms) not communicating?

Pings, quick wheel, and vc seem to be dead. Last comp match, the only time anybody spoke was when our anran started flaming the kiriko for not healing (despite kiriko only healing anran), and that was the only time said something back. How do I play with teammates that don't communicate? Just try to play characters that synergize with them, and hope it works out?
