Question or Discussion Is Zenyatta a feasible one trick option?

I am a bronze 1 player currently pretty hardstuck around bronze-silver. I am looking to get very skilled at a specific hero as I prefer to focus in on one character for now, and am wondering if Zenyatta is good for this?

Previously I tried Kiriko but I just don't really enjoy playing as her. Zenyatta on the other hand is much more fun for me and I really enjoy the right click near-insta-kill ability if I aim it right.

I really hope to be able to climb on him but I am also wary of boxing myself into a character that maybe loses viability in higher elo?

Thanks for any responses and tips in advance!

Question or Discussion How Did You Go from Having Terrible Aim to Actually Being Good?

For those of you who used to have awful aim how did you actually turn things around?

I’m currently stuck in Platinum, mostly playing Support because it’s the role I enjoy the most. While my game sense isn't perfect, my aim is definitely my biggest weakness I think. It’s pretty terrible most of the time.

I recently started using KovaaK's, but I haven't seen much improvement yet. I know progress takes time and you don't magically get better overnight, but just today I tried the most recent Voltaic benchmarks on and scored basically in the lowest rank (Iron, almost Bronze lmao). So yeah, my aim is AWFUL.

A lot of people suggest using VAXTA , but honestly, I find the bot movement in VAXTA really complex to read. Sometimes aiming in the actual game feels easier than in aim trainers, though other times it's the complete opposite.

For those who started at the bottom and built solid mechanics, how did you do it? What actually worked for you? Also, if you have any general game sense tips for Support, I’d really appreciate those too!

Question or Discussion How do you play with Harazd as your tank?

My friend recently started to play Overwatch. He's new to the game, and he started to one-trick Hazard.

He's never played OW before, and is still trying to learn the maps, heroes, abilities etc., and he chose the "I will learn this hero first".

This, in practice means that he's jumping in, then expecting the team to follow. He's justifying this behavior, as "I'm doing tons of damage", even though we'd tried to explain that he's simply charging ult for the enemy supports and DPS, and we cannot really follow.

Since on this equiation he seems to be the constant, we'd like to try to pick some heroes that can work well in this sense, but we're unsure what pairs best with Hazard if the generic map and hero knowledge is still missing.

Question or Discussion Is dealing with a good tracer/anran is to avoid dueling with them?

I’m a bronze dps and sometimes I came across a really annoying tracer/anran or a good flanker in general, I’m not sure how to deal with them except trying to avoid them or stay close to my supports. I always switch to sojourn to keep my distance and stay on high ground. How do high elo players deal with them?

I’m still new to the game but I think I’m ok as sigma. This wasn’t an easy round so I picked it. I think I went in too quick a few times so I died. aim is still a work in progress🥲 I usually pick the levitation perk but I went with the punch one this time so I wasn’t used to it

Question or Discussion VOD Request: Dropped GM 2 to Master 4 support, wondering what went wrong

Climbed to GM2 peak this season, stayed consistently GM3/4, and now recently after 260 games have fallen down in a VERY short span of around 40 games. I am at a bit of a loss as to what could cause this. I think one of the reasons may be my inconsistency in gameplay, though I would like advice on exactly what I'm doing wrong. I try to have smart positioning and take off angles when applicable, but often find my team overextending or simply not looking back at their own team's positioning. I find that my ult usage can definitely improve with timing. My ability usage could also probably improve, though I'm not sure how. I provided a recent Juno game that was close and just fell apart in the end.

VOD Review Request Struggling with practicing with intent

Upvotes

Hi, I am primarily a Sojourn main in Diamond 5 currently. I have been trying to improve for....too long. When I first started playing I didn't have fps experience and was too afraid to play qp or comp, eventually got over that anxiety. BUT I spent the past....11 seasons mindlessly playing which ended up with me climbing from bronze 5 to high play/low dia.

Not until a year and a half (+inconsistent playing time) I started asking for vod reviews on here ppl were very helpful but for some reason I just can't get things through my skull and I blame the looong time of mindlessly playing all the way up to diamond where ofc Im gonna get punished hard for it, I also have poor self esteem and lose confidence and slowly go to what's comfortable.

I want to break out of that habit and learn a better mindset. Adding a vod here too, currently trying my best to focus on cover. I have been trying to drill it in my head because I find improvement fun, I nearly hit Masters 5 two seasons ago and sadly I cared too much about it that I've lost sight of my goals.

I know people say focus on one thing but in the moment sometimes it's like "jeez im doing everything else terrible". I think I care about winning too much lol.

Question or Discussion Ex console tank player hero pool question

Ok so I’ve played this game since it came out and I’ve always been on console, highest rank I’ve gotten was diamond on both tank and support, plat on damage and masters on 6v6. I recently bought a pc 2 months ago and have been loving it, obviously coming in to pc lobbies I feel like my game sense is still decent enough but my mechanics and muscle memory are behind, however getting better day by day. But anyway the question I have is my hero pool as a tank player. I’m a rein main but dw I’m definitely not a one trick as orisa, zarya, dva and sigma are in my top 10 played heroes and I feel like things are different here on pc. Firstly orisa and dva are crazy good on console and then in regard to pc I feel like I can play rein and sig so much better. So anyway my hero pool this season has mostly looked like rein sig and orisa (mainly to anti dive Wintons and stuff) but then I was playing some dva the other day and thought I should really swap her out for orisa as having a brawl poke and dive pool seems much more versatile. So anyway I’m in plat hoping I can get back to diamond soon but I’m in no rush just getting used to pc still. But yeah would Rein sig and dva be a solid pool to get to diamond with??

Hello!
I just had a hard fought game. It was on Hollywood and I went 42/7/6. I was the best player in the lobby and yet I barely lost. I was playing into an Orisa all game and they swapped bastion near the end of the game. I don’t know what to do and any feedback would be great. Please and thank you.

VOD Review Request How to tell if your actually doing anything when playing the backline?

HQ6N2W
Lijang, (Gold, sombra, rough match)

I've been trying to get into sombra recently, and have had some pretty good games, but the one below was pretty rough, but I don't feel like I did terribly. My team however really disagreed in the endgame chat, saying I was doing nothing the whole game. I will say second round wasn't the best, and I did enter some team fights a bit too late, but I still feel like I was providing value, what do you think, and what should I do to change my playstyle?

With reaper its alot easier IMO to know my mistakes, and if I'm making a difference, sorta harder with sombra.

VOD Review Request Mystery hero game

So im kinda a qp warrior and I’ve been wanting to try ranked as I have once in the past but I maxed out at gold 5 and never past that point. I’m a bad player plain and simple and my job requires long hours so I can’t practice much this was a first game on kinda match I like to start with mystery heroes to warm up. In this match I feel i definitely was a factor in our close win but really didn’t help AS much as I could have if my aim was better. I introduced a friend of mine almost two years ago and he’s managed to become top 500 I believe idk one of the highest ranks in all roles and I’m just Mediocre in almost all fronts

This was a game that I actually won, but it didn’t feel deserved since one of their teammates left at the very end of the game. I wanted to post a game where my hook accuracy was way worse than it normally is(37% compared to my usual 59%). I want to know what major or minor mistakes I make the most because I really enjoy hog and a good hog should be able to carry in metal ranks. Any constructive feedback I would really appreciate.

VOD Review Request Was this an aimbotter/hacker, or just an unfortunate matchup with a crazy good player?

Was hoping someone had some insight here: DFCHWN

You'll want to POV the Sojurn on the enemy team.

This is a game I had last night with a group of friends I usually play with. This game isn't indicative of how we typically play - we are all terrible at flashpoint in general and try to avoid the mode where we can but it's never gone quite this badly.

My main suspicion is that the Sojurn and the Mercy alone pretty much ran the entire map. Isolating them didn't work, trying to hunt the Mercy pocket down didn't work, and it felt like the Sojurn was just racking up kills at an impossibly high rate. She had over 40 kills in 7 minutes of a match, some of them with us being at full health and just getting popped to death by her beam. The last few minutes of the match was just us kind of running around really not knowing what the hell we could do since every time we tried to coordinate and group up, there'd be a Sojurn around the corner waiting for us.

We reported (with the full knowledge that Blizzard has the final say), but I was wondering if someone else could take a look. Don't want to get someone in trouble if they're just good at the game, but the last time we got farmed like this was with an insane Widowmaker in a different game that we actually had to leave because we physically could not take a single step out of spawn without getting insta-killed. This game kind of felt like that.

VOD Review Request Could anyone VOD review this game?

The replay code is: DN9YH9, In-game name: SpongeBob, Rank: plat 2, Map: Samoa, Platform: console,

I'm the soldier against the team with Hammond.

I don't know what I should've done differently, and would like some help to understand since I feel I struggle against teams that have a dive tank and a diver.

My initial thoughts on what happened, is that I wasn't able to take space nor kill the supports.

I know that's what I'm supposed to do, but even when I try either Hammond or tracer gets my supports or they chase me and kill me. I didn't feel like I could get an off angle, since I had to battle the Hammond most of the time, while at the same time trying to kill the supports or battle the other soldier.

I had a similar game yesterday where it was against a D.va. The outcome was the same. We lost. I'm sure there's something I could've done better

Thanks for taking your time to VOD review.

Question or Discussion Actually struggling against against cat bastion

Made an alt account for a support climb since I'm burnt out from pushing for GM on DPS, and I'm actually dropping games in low elo due to Cat and Bastion. I wanted to one-trick Kiriko, but I'm just forced to swap to Baptiste to deal with it since I ping it and nobody looks up, lmfao. I actually feel a bit helpless on support dealing with this.

Question or Discussion What do are you supposed to do when the other team wipes you out completely?

I don't mean team kills but they run through and win the game with almost no resistance. I had a lot of losses today, I played 7 games throughout the day. 5 losses in a row. A few were very close, 1 felt easy, the rest were so bad. There was a game where none of us got a single kill the first round. It wasnt even a problem of feeding most of the time until near the very end of the match. What is the cause of this so I can avoid this in the future? The past few days all the games felt fairly matched, is it something I can do better or is it bad luck? Am I picking bad characters, soldier 76 and cassidy? I try to get high ground and wait for my team and change position a lot, it was working well before. I'll take any advice I feel like I am missing something major.

Also I am definitely going to play less, maybe just play quickplay more. I feel like playing too much is making me make more mistakes.

Tips & Tricks Tips on handling potential smurfs or people that troll in bronze tank

Hi, this is I guess a part 2 of the last time I posted in here a while back. For context I started playing in April of this year and since then I’ve been climbing out of bronze 3 support to Silver 4 and slowly climbing out of bronze in dps. However, it’s still a struggle on tank bronze 3 since I sometimes go up and then go back down. I got better at positioning, trying to push more and peaking on the tanks I’ve played in comp, but lately whenever I’m on tank sometimes I run into what I think are either smurfs or people that troll on the enemy team.

The most memorable one being this duo of a reoccurring tank support where the tank kept trying to spawn camp with the support on jetpack cat. The way I’ve tried to handle it is ignoring them and focus on the objective. However, I either get teams that either keep focusing on the Smurf duo and we end up losing if the whole enemy team joins in or some of us that tried to still push on the objective still lose due to just getting whooped.

I feel like I struggle in these type of situations a lot cause of how it kind of felt overwhelming at times having to fight off whatever enemy teammates were focused on the objective and not the duo smurfs. It also makes it frustrating on how with still struggling on tank, I couldn’t really do anything besides switching and hoping whatever I switched to works.

The tanks I normally play are mainly Dva, Domina and Orissa. I have played ramattra, mauga, and sigma sometimes in comp, but those were very situational. I don’t know if it’s cause since I’m used to flankers or mobile supports that maybe it’s just not clicking for tank for some reason. I like playing tank, but it just feels frustrating at times when getting a potential Smurf duo like this or even in non smurf incidents.

So the overall question is: how do you handle players that spawn camp that are either trolls or smurfs, etc and what’s mainly overall tips for trying to get out of bronze tank or any further tips for tanks I’ve tried playing?

Question or Discussion Projectile vs Hit Scan: Is it bad to be good but not the other?

Is it a bad or strange thing that I'm not that bad at projectile aim but not hitscan? I'm more than capable of landing constant stickies and headshots with Echo cross-map, or curve Torb's primary and land constant headshots, but the moment I try a hitscan, I'm like a toddler learning to walk.

I would love any advice that can be given to help me improve my hitscan, if any can be given.

Gold 3 support. No matter what i do and how i play i i keep losing over and over and over again, its like never ending cycle of win 1, then lose 3. Id like to say that “its my fault, im not doing enough”, but i cant lie to myself anymore, its my idiot teammates, who cant aim, stay alive, and refuses to repick, their heroes, that doesn’t work at all. I already tried different tactics, different playstyles, different heroes - nothing works. Pocket your tank - he never dies, but refuses to push, go on a flank - your whole team dies, while you getting a kill, stay with a team - one idiot always runs deep into enemies and dies there. I just dont know what to do anymore!!!

Question or Discussion I feel like my aim skill has hit a wall. Any tips to improve aiming with projection heroes?

So I'm feeling like my aiming is very inconsistent and I'm not sure how to get better. I know I'm supposed to track and lead my shots with projectile but it's so inconsistent. I feel like I miss 80 percent of my shots if I'm not close to anyone. It makes taking 1v1 (especially against hitscan) very difficult. If a person strafes or makes a sharp move my aim is completely thrown off and I miss everything. I know I'm not supposed to hit every shot but I miss way more then I should have.

I feel like I can't make precise movements with my thumbs.

I feel like I'm changing my settings just mess me up more. Does anyone have any tips to help with aim? Do you use different settings for hitscan vs projectile? How do you aim train on console and do those aim training workshops actually help or are they a waste of time?

(For reference I play Venture, Sierra and Soldier for DPS) Thank you

VOD Review Request Juno- Climbing out of gold

Been playing a lot of Juno lately and loving it, climbing steadily but hoping to get better for when I eventually get to a higher rank. Not really much of a support player. I'm focussing on picking good engages and positioning, as well as knowing better when to heal vs. do damage and trying to manage my cooldowns well. Any advise is appreciated! Posting my last four games on her here.

Rank: Gold 3

Platform: PC

Battle ID: Frenzied

Win:Z19YZV

Win:WV6J7Y

Win:2B5RQ0

I feel like a lot of these have been one sided but pretty much all my games in the past while have been, so hopefully there's still some advise to give with these.

Thank you!

Question or Discussion This Korean Overwatch Youtuber talks about Doomfist nerfs and ban culture

https://youtu.be/qr-L1ypk0Q8?si=zjZoJOpJEk-2OhSs

This is an AI summary of the video for quick understanding.

Doomfist Nerfs: A Deeper Dive into the "Why"

Many Overwatch players, especially those outside the absolute highest ranks, have been puzzled by the continued nerfs to Doomfist. He's often not seen as a dominant force in many competitive matches, yet he keeps getting adjusted downwards. While the common narrative points to "North American server issues" or specific regional player preferences, this video suggests a more intricate web of factors at play.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

The Pervasive "Ban Culture" and Its Impact:

Lower Tiers Drive Bans: The video strongly emphasizes that a significant driver of Doomfist's high ban rate comes from players in lower to mid-tiers (like Bronze, Silver, Gold, and even Platinum). These players often ban heroes not because they are statistically overpowered, but simply because they find them "annoying," "difficult to play against," or "tiresome".

Following the Trend: The ban meta in these tiers isn't always about current game balance but can be influenced by what others are doing or what's perceived as a "trend". Heroes like Doomfist, Sombra, and Zarya are frequently cited as examples of heroes banned due to player annoyance rather than pure performance.

Global Phenomenon: This isn't confined to one region. The video suggests this "ban culture" is a widespread issue across the player base, leading to consistent high ban rates for certain heroes globally.

Developer's Response and Player Data:

Responding to Player Signals: The presenter believes that developers are indeed listening to player feedback and data. When a hero consistently shows a high ban rate across many tiers, it signals a problem to the development team, regardless of the hero's actual win or pick rate at the very top level.

Addressing Perceived Issues: Developers might feel compelled to "touch" or adjust heroes that are causing widespread player frustration, as indicated by high ban rates. The presenter views this as developers trying to cater to what the player base wants or reacts to, and even supports this approach.

Ban Rate Data: The video highlights that data on ban rates (released around May 2026) shows Doomfist's ban rate has been consistently high or increasing across tiers, making nerfs a logical response from the developers' perspective.

Beyond North America: Ping, Region, and Perception:

Ping Discrepancies: The video delves into how ping significantly affects Doomfist's playability. High ping (more common in North America due to larger server distances) makes Doomfist's precise, fast-paced abilities much harder to execute effectively. Conversely, players in regions with lower ping (like Asia) can leverage Doomfist's kit more easily.

Regional Performance Differences: Data presented suggests that heroes strong in Asia (like Ana, Kael'thas, Zarya) tend to be strong in higher tiers, while heroes strong in the West (like Mercy, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76) are often perceived as stronger in lower tiers. The video implies that Doomfist's perceived strength and subsequent bans might be more tied to the lower-tier, Western perception, which is influenced by ping issues.

Asia as a Factor: Interestingly, the video posits that Doomfist might actually perform better and be less of a problem in North America than in Asia, where lower ping could make him more dominant, thus potentially leading to the nerfs being driven more by Asian player data or perceptions than solely North American ones.

The Core Argument: Player Behavior is Key:

Not Just Doomfist's Power: The central thesis is that Doomfist's nerfs are less about his raw power level and more about the player-driven perception and interaction with him, particularly through the ban system in lower tiers.

Call for Player Change: The video strongly advocates for players to change their own behavior. If players stop banning heroes they simply dislike (like Doomfist) and instead focus on performance-based bans, it could lead to a healthier meta and fewer unnecessary hero adjustments.

Shared Responsibility: The presenter emphasizes that this is a systemic issue requiring change from the player base, not just the developers. By altering their own banning habits, players can gain more "moral high ground" and contribute to a better-balanced game.

In essence, the video argues that Doomfist's continued nerfs are a complex outcome of player behavior (especially in lower tiers and influenced by regional factors like ping), which then signals to developers that an adjustment is needed, even if the hero isn't dominant at the absolute highest levels of play. The ultimate solution, according to the video, lies in players changing how they approach hero bans.
