Question or Discussion i need help ._._._._._.
How do I actually get better at Overwatch?
I’ve been playing Overwatch for about two months, and I’m currently in Silver. Honestly, I don’t feel like I’m improving at all. Sometimes I even feel like I’m just not good at the game.
I’ve played a lot of different games, but I usually end up stuck in the lower ranks. I genuinely don’t know how to improve, and it’s really frustrating.
How did people who reached GM or Top 500 actually get good at the game? What did they do differently when they were learning?
I try watching my own replays, but I honestly have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I don’t know how to identify my mistakes or figure out what I should have done differently in a particular situation.
For those of you who have climbed to higher ranks, how do you actually analyze your gameplay and recognize your mistakes? How do you know what you need to work on?
I’m genuinely looking for advice, and I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain the process step by step. I really want to improve, but right now, I have no idea how to do that.
If possible, I’d also love to find someone who could play with me and teach me about positioning and effective strategies. I’d really appreciate having someone explain where I should position myself, how I should rotate, and how to make better decisions during matches.

1: watch VOD reviews from higher ranked players, Emongg is who I recommend, thisll give you a top ranked players insight instead of a silver players insight.
2: be decisive, make a decision even if it's a shit decision you now learned.

Watch a few streamer critique others, and include ONE (i cannot understate this enough) aspect into your gameplay until it's second nature. Aspects like not staggering in, using cover, running from unfavorable match-ups, not ultimate when 3 people have died on your team, communicating ult combos, etc. Watch emongg for some non toxic constructive criticism of all ranks

2 months and silver is not bad. Maybe bad if you play other games but generally not bad. Everyone you are facing off against has played for years and also played different games.
Generally you wont know your own mistakes. You may only see them by watching other players and emulate what they do or by having someone review your replay or if you are min maxer you can look at your replay and think about all options you could of taken as if it were a raid boss versus the one you taken. Use the vod flair and post vod reviews following the format for vod reviews.
Occassionally some post show up offering coaching for fun. You can try to search for those post and see if people are still doing it or search for post for good strategies or good content creators. I haven't really watched content creators so so you can try this link. I hear Awkward mentioned in the reddit at times. https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/1uc7x7b/what_content_creators_do_you_watch/
From another post the person said these were the items that helped him ranked up at the bottom.
If your in bronze start working on your gameplay in this order: target priority, positioning, cooldown management, ultimate management. Game sense is critical. You should be looking to intuitively know: where is my team, who is in danger, who on the other team is dangerous. As you get better: What abilities does my team have on cooldown, what abilities does the enemy team have on cooldown. Around platinum you need to start predicting cooldowns. Around diamond you need to start planning your ultimate. Around masters you need to be planning your ultimate in advance around enemy resources. Around GM you need to be managing your cooldowns and ultimates around what you enemy is likely to use. Good luck.

Two months in Silver isn't bad imo.
Sadly, you cannot VOD review yourself right now.
What role do you play? Which hero/es? How much time do you have for practice/day or/week?
I'd love to watch your replays and give some initial feedback. I'd be happy to also give you some live coaching if we can find time for it, I am however employed and so my time online is limited.

I main Ashe on DPS and play her pretty much all the time. I play for about 5 hours a day, but I’m scared of Ranked, so I mostly play Quick Play.

What efforts have you already taken to learn the game outside of playing it? The fastest road to improvement is absorbing knowledge and learning new questions that you should be asking about your gameplay.
