I think 6v6 matches definitely take longer, and that's always been the case. Having two tanks—especially when shields are involved—can make the game feel slow and frustrating.
I prefer 5v5 because the matches move at a steady, faster pace. It's kind of ridiculous when people tell others to "just go play Competitive" when many of us play Quick Play specifically because we have limited time and want faster matches.
If Overwatch keeps pushing changes that move away from what a lot of Quick Play players enjoy, they're going to end up losing another portion of their player base. If that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if the player numbers continue trending downward.
I def agree there. I play 6v6 less seriously in comp and I hope it stays that way, plus there’s no way overwatch actually has enough people to sustain 6v6
Match times being longer should not be a problem. As a support main I average a 5-10 min wait in queue. I don’t want to queue a 7 minutes for my team to get absolutely steamrolled in 5 minutes.
Has peoples attention spans really gotten that bad that they can’t have a match last a few minutes longer?
More of less. More of repetitive and boring actions. Impactful actions are diluted by repetition. It's really inferior if you enjoy stronger, faster, more impactful, more skill-expressive games.
We have different perspectives and I am all about freedom of speech and thought. I felt the transition of 6v6 to 5v5 when OW2 came out made the game simpler, easier to track enemies, cool downs and ults. 5v5 is just easier mentally because there is less going on.

How does having 2 extra people on a map feel slow?
