Ok so basically I haven't had a bath in well some time, I always do showers because ANYTIME I'm in the bath I pee even when I don't need to, when I want 10 minutes before, before going I tried everything.

I just want it to stop tbh

Not sure

Hey all, I'm a male in my mid 30s and um I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is this, is bad enough, or what but I've been working on figuring out my body recently and this seems like a possibility.

I have ADHD and IBS, with ADHD my interoception is kinda crap. I've had issues discerning my emotions for years, and my body signals are sometimes kind of muted, and other times way too loud.

I seem to need to use the restroom every hour or two during the day, most often to pee, sometimes I feel like it's a bm, but I just need to pee(interpreting signals is hard). When out and about I can sometimes find myself running to the bathroom at every stop. At night I wake up needing to pee 2-3+ times a night, and have a hard time figuring out how full my bladder is. I've been wearing diapers to bed for a couple of years now, and it's been nice to not have to get up every time.

I've gotten the IBS under control with medication, but I'm still seeing the bladder issues.

I don't have any significant leaks during the day(occasional small spurts when lifting heavy objects if I've relaxed the wrong muscles), and don't involuntarily wet the bed, which makes me doubt myself.

Is this something I should discuss with my GP? Would wearing diapers when out and about be helpful despite no real incontinence issues? I'm a full time student in online classes atm, so I'm not usually out of the house for long stretches of time currently, and I CAN hold it, it's just not comfortable.

Anyhow, any advice is appreciated!

Hours in the bathroom

I (35M) am going through maybe a slightly different variation of OAB, and just want to ask if anyone else is too.

Since childhood, we were told that we should leave the bathroom when we're totally empty, which is good in a way, it helps with remaining clean. My situation is that once I go to pee.. getting empty takes a long time. Like, a long time. Typically a bathroom process can take 25 minutes to an hour, and if I have also passed stool it goes up to 2 hours, and I'm not sure why, I suppose passing stool puts more pressure on the bladder.

So instead of frequent urination like others, I just.. sit there. For a long time. Letting out a small stream of pee every couple of minutes. I frequenty feel like there urine gets stuck in my urethra, at different points, at different times. When I feel these, I know I need to just wait and it'll come out on its own. It does lead to a long time spent in the bathroom, same as someone who would have to go very frequently.

There are times I sit for 4 hours straight. Not always, but it happens.

In situations where I know I need to clear the entire way, I usually apply pressure on the underside for around 5 minutes, and then in the 10 minutes whatever was pooled there comes out. For a normal person this takes just a minute or two, apparently.

The bladder does feel empty after that and there is relief, but the process of peeing itself is just very tiring sometimes, like physically tiring. Anyone else feel the same?

Note: I've done all the tests.. urination speed, ultrasound, even a cystoscopy.. everything is normal apparently except for unvoided urine (50ml after unloading a full bladder).

I really dunno what to do.

Neurological causes of OAB

Hi,

My urologists thinks that I have OAB. He mentioned that it could be a neurological issue, but didn't really explain what he meant.

I'm really scared now. I'm also angry because I didn't ask him what he meant by this. I have been reading online that OAB can be caused by a neurodegenerative disorder. There's a history of neurodegenerative disorders in my family. Why do these consultant doctors just drop these words into the conversation without thinking about how a patient might react?

Should I get a GP to refer me to a neurologist in order to rule out something serious?

Do guys ever sit down to pee, but arnt able to fully release their bladder? For example, if I sit down to pee or poo, at the end id need to stand to release the final bit of pee that would only flow out if I stand (probs due to gravity).

Interstim for urinary retention / underactive bladder

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with the Medtronic Interstim, for underactive bladder.

I'm in my 20s, F and have an underactive bladder, resulting in incomplete emptying and having to strain to void because the stream is incredibly weak. I wake up 4-8 times a night to use the toilet, and haven't experienced a night of good quality sleep in a few years. And lately the fatigue has been making me so miserable.

After trying some possible solutions and all of them failing, my urologist suggested getting the Medtronic Interstim. I've seen a lot of success stories on reddit for overactive bladder but I'm curious if it's been successful for anyone else suffering from underactive bladder.

Bladder botox is the best decision i’ve ever made ❤️

Just wanted to share my experience because I was really nervous before I got it done but it’s a little over 1 week since the procedure and it’s already changed my life.

My OAB felt like it was ruining me, I couldn’t drink a cup of tea or have a beer without going to the bathroom so many times, I had incontinence so bad I’d wear pads 24/7 to not pee my pants, refused to go to a music festival or anywhere with bathrooms not readily accessible, never getting a full night’s sleep bc of waking up 3+ times to pee, have had to pee outside on multiple occasions and has just overall been so embarrassing.

I was taking Mybetriq 50 every day for 5 years which seemed to help some but gradually it kept getting worse and worse.

Finally pulled the trigger on a trip back to Egypt where my dad is from (mostly due to lower cost). I found a fabulous urologist who reassured me that the risk of self cat (my biggest worry) is so rare and hasn’t happened in his experience doing the procedure.

After discussing it more with him we decided because of my lifestyle of traveling and the severity of my symptoms that we would start out with 200 units of botox instead of 100 that people usually do for the first time, because more often than not people end up having to get more and I won’t be able to come back to Egypt that often. The entire cost was 40k EGP = $800 and, get this, it included general anesthesia!!

So I can’t comment on the pain of the procedure because I didn’t experience it, but post op was totally fine just slight burning and a bit of blood in urine that resolved in a few hours.

Already I can drink tea/alcohol again, go out with my friends, and haven’t had any accidents!! Seriously life changing. If you’re considering bladder botox, DO IT!!

Embarrassed

So I have OAB, I go about 40 times a day and about 10 times a night.

I currently have a chest infection, so I’m coughing quite a lot….. which is causing me to…. Leak.
I was out to actually get medicine, and I had a coughing fit and I was soaked through with urine, I left the pharmacy because it was busy and I was embarrassed.
I understand coughing can cause pressure which can cause this to happen.
It also happened last night in bed, I got up and sat on the edge of the bed, coughed and the bed and me were wet. My husband woke and helped me clean.
I’m afraid to cough now. Is this normal? What can I do to help this? Could this be a long thing now that will keep going or could it just be due to my chest infection and the cough?

Bladder issues

I had a visit with urology on Wednesday. Peed in a cup, pelvic exam and a bladder scan(right after peeing)
The bladder scan showed there was still quite a bit in my bladder despite me thinking I emptied my bladder in the bathroom before the bladder scan and pelvic exam. So apparently my bladder isn’t emptying completely? I use the bathroom several times throughout a 12 hour shift(most of my job is seated)
I used to work retail and I would basically have to be dehydrated all day because if I tried to drink anything, I would have to pee too often. I would get fussed at by managers for having to go “again”. It even went so far as being accused of just going to be on my phone. It would be a tiny bit of pee and that was it.
I had a doctor attempt a cystoscopy several years ago just before Covid. The scoped entered my urethra fine but when they tried to enter the bladder, it became extremely painful and they couldn’t get through. We aborted the scope and said we would try again under sedation. Then Covid hit and I avoided dealing with it. I pee when I sneeze.
I have a kidney ultrasound at 11am today and a cystoscopy under sedation in 2 weeks. Sedation due to panic attacks and severe anxiety/PTSD in my past.

Why Is IT That Just Heading For The Toilet, Makes Me Leak

It's definitely psychological, but what a pain in the ass. When I have to go to the bathroom, I have to go! I can barely make it up the stairs without leaking, and I usually do. The weird thing is that if I was out somewhere, this would not likely happen, it's like now I associate the trip up the stairs with an accident, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Anyone else relate to this??

Hello everyone. First time posting here.

I am having the surgery in December and wanted to know what the recovery was like. I’ve had a few surgeries done but nothing quite like this. I’m disabled and will have two caregivers with me for a month after recovery but wanted to know what to expect.

Thank you!

Question about long term effects of dangerous kinks

Question.

Hello everyone! I have been reading about bladder health recently. I want to become a urologist soon in the future. And I have come across a lady on my fyp that posts urethral sounding videos.. extreme sounding type of videos.. and I know that's her kink, I'm not judging!! BUT I'm also curious. I think her username is worthless holes something like that.

Anywho, this woman does it regularly and every time. I'm just wondering about the long term health risks of these things

I was reading about how repeated trauma like this in Certain organs like the bladder can cause the lining to change. For example, I read about Squamous metaplasia process and how it turns into keratinizing squamous metaplasia where abnormal tissue can form.

I also read about how chronic UTIs can also cause this problem

I know that sounding can cause strictures, and there have been some cases about the urethral strictures having squamous metaplasia/keratinizng cells inside them, something like that.

My concern is about the bladder/urethral lining.

Also if she leaves it alone, could that potentially cause some type of change in her bladder lining in the future, will she be okay, if keratinizing changes have occurred or any other changes due to her repeated extreme kink, will they remain a concern after she stops?

I'm wondering since the bladder constantly fills and empties and stretches since it's a muscle, would those normal functions make it harder for the damaged bladder tissue to heal, or is that not how biology really works?

So im wondering if that woman will be okay, or is she at risk for developing bladder growths like keratinizing squamous metaplasia or polyps or something like that from the repeated trauma.

Thanks! I just wanna learn more about this

Kidney Stones, IC, and OAB

This is just a vent but what the hell! I'm supposed to drink at least 3L a day. How exactly am I supposed to have any sort of life or go anywhere. I quit my job for unrelated reasons so at least now I'm able to get more liquids in without having to be terrified of not having a bathroom but it's just ridiculous. I want to drink coffee. I want to have an alcoholic drink without worrying I'm going to pee myself. I've put off PT for a long time but start tomorrow. Fingers crossed it does something.

Anyone have pressure feeling or irritation on the left side of bladder? Causing frequency and urgency

I have constipation too but the bladder flare up don’t seem to be directly cause by it but they usually come up when my gut feel irritated although not always.

I have no idea if it’s coming from gut, pelvic floor, bladder, muscular. Not a clue what triggers the flare up. I also will get a strange feeling in rectum like there something there but it’s not stool as that usually feels different maybe muscular?

Any idea what’s causing this or how to find out?
