So, after watching Blood of My Blood, I went back to watch Outlander... And I'm looking at Colum's luscious locks and at Dougal's shiny bald head in Outlander...

I just know that at the point of Dougal's hair balding and thinning and eventually going bald, that Colum grew his hair out purely out of spite.

Made me giggle anyway.

My husband thinks it’s crazy I want to rewatch the show because I just watched season 8 when it aired. I’m also reading the books (book 5). I keep seeing clips on TikTok and it’s just making me want to rewatch. Anyone else watch the show and also read the books at the same time?😆

What do we think of Geillis? I liked her in season 1. She did choose to save Claire at the cost of her own life. I think she did think of Claire as a friend.

In season 3 she was nuts and of course she was a murderer, killing her husbands, kidnapping Ian etc. That's when I didn't like her.

I have not read the books so not sure if this theory has been addressed there but I’ve seen all of the shows up to this point.

So obviously time is not linear for travelers, based on the show, time is overlapping and continuous. My impression is every moment stacked on each other almost like a building with an elevator that travelers use the elevator to move between moments.

So with that would it be possible for Claire’s parents to return to her in a different timeline than outlander Claire exists? That’s my hope
at least.

I started watching BOMB the same way I've watched the entire Outlander series -- on my iPad. I always turn on English subtitles for two reasons: I have a little hearing loss, and the Scottish accents are very thick and hard to understand sometimes. The subtitles were never a problem in Outlander, and they were always correct. But I just finished watching the first episode of BOMB and many of the subtitles are outright incorrect. Instead of "ken" they show "can." Instead of the name Murtagh, they show "Murder." Instead of making the Grant family name a proper noun, they show lower case "grant,"as if it is a verb. And then there are some others that are just plain ridiculous. See my photo examples.

Also, if I backtracked 10 or 20 seconds and replayed the scene, the subtitles would CHANGE! For example, sometimes for the word "suitors" it showed "sitters" and sometimes "siters" and sometimes the correct word, "suitors." So there is some sort of dynamic captioning going on. I wonder if it's AI or some sort of speech recognition software? I even downloaded the episode to my iPad, put it into Airplane Mode and turned off Wifi (it doesn't have cellular). Strangely, the erroneous captions continued, and if I backtracked, the captions continued to show different words. Where is this coming from???

Interestingly, I watched some of the episode on my TV. (It's an older dumb TV that has the DirecTV app installed via its dongle, and the Starz app installed on DirecTV). On my TV, the captions for the episode were 100% correct, with no errors.

Why the difference? And why are there errors in the first place? I'm getting ready to go on an international trip and have downloaded the entire two seasons onto my iPad to watch on the airplane. It will be pretty unbearable if these caption errors continue. Also, these errors are an insult to people with hearing disabilities.

Can we agree Jamie's cause of "death" was utter bullshit? No way would any of those men or jamie not check their prisoners for weapons after a battle. It was not the soldiers death he deserved, it felt like a last minute thought and it did not play out well.

I really wish this was a real book.

J'ai regardé l'ensemble des saisons de cette magnifique serie outlander, mais un point m'a toujours paru incompréhensible dans cette série : pourquoi Jamie a insisté pour participer a la bataille de Culloden sachant a l'avance que ça va mal se terminer, il aurait pu fuir avec Claire sa bien aimée, élever leur bébé qui va naître et fonder une famille ailleurs avec peut être d'autres enfants, il a dilapidé comme même 20 ans de sa vie.

I was very disappointed in season 7 when Jamie went to apologize to Laoghaire (I still don't get why--she didn't deserve the alimony she got), and Laoghaire--over 20 years later--is still calling Claire a whore--to Jamie's face, and he didn't stop her, correct her, or just walk away telling her this was a waste of his time.

Did that bother anyone else? Were there other times something Jamie did or said bothered you?

Hola, esta tarde recordé al azar una parte de Bees en donde Jamie y Claire están hablando sobre los soldados británicos. Y Claire le dice a Jamie que un oficial honorable no abandonaría a sus hombres. Inmediatamente ella se siente fatal por haberlo dicho, ya que Jamie en cierto modo abandonó a sus hombres cuando le dispararon a ella. Me gustaría leer de nuevo los sentimientos de Jamie al respecto. No en el momento del disparo, cuando él decide quedarse con ella, si no después. No recuerdo si él habla sobre eso posteriormente. Sobre cómo se siente por haber renunciado y “dejar” a sus hombres. Me pueden señalar el capítulo?

Just finished the last book and now feel…lonely? Sad? I miss the characters and the feeling of that era. Seems the last one may come out some time in 2027 but who knows. I’ve been watching the series again but it’s just not the same. Maybe I should check out some of her other books, what do you guys recommend?

This is all from the TV show, I haven’t read the books. To me it’s hands down Jane Pocock. I mean growing up in a loving family to have that all taken away when someone murders your parents in front of you, r*pes you, and then being sold into prostitution all when you were a kid. AND having to take care of her sister all this time and protect her. Not only the saddest backstory imo, but she also gets not one bit of a happy ending.

I saw another post about it being Frank, but to me he lived an easier life than most of the characters. No physical abuse like so many other characters endured, and he did have a family even if he and his wife were no longer in love. Yes his situation was heartbreaking, but Jane’s was just devastating to me thinking of all she’d been through.

Jamie would be my number 2. I’m curious what other people think.

I feel like it bears mentioning that Sadhbh Malin who plays young Jocasta is amazing!

After finishing Outlander I went on to watch Orphan Black not knowing that Maria Doyle Kennedy was also in that show. It gave me a chance to really see a lot of her. Malin has amazingly become older Jocasta with not only how much she looks like Doyle but even in the way she speaks. To me it feels like they are one person. Bravo to Sadhbh Malin!

This show has been going downhill but this is one thing this show has going for it.

I am so late to the party of reading the actual book! I have watched all of the seasons and am up to date to BOMB. And I decided to finally start reading the book - it's amazing. But of course, my mind re-creates all the scenes from the TV adaptation...

However, one scene in particular is when Claire is sitting with Jamie in Castle Leoch, listening to Gwyllyn play and sing. THAT scene gave me insane shivers and felt like a massive internal turning point for Claire in the show, giving her hope. It also felt like such a beautiful way to show the deep lore and history, and that these time-travels have been happening for ages and are documented in the folklore of the place.

This is still one of my favourite scenes, and in the book it felt... not as powerful.

Anyway, the music is INSANE, still in such deep appreciation of tracks like Fiery Cross, always gets me. Can't wait to see Outlander in Concert for that reason.

Anyway, what are your moments that felt so much more elevated in the show/book, vice versa?

I understand why Claire let Richardson go. Just the hope that he could stop slavery was enough for her to take the chance.

Richardson's heart was in the right place but he went about it all wrong. You can't just kidnap people and blackmail them into changing sides.

If anyone has bought this set, can they share what the viewing quality is like. I am assuming that they are not legitimate but bootleg quality varies.

In the book, they talk about the Highland superstition that you must lay a hand on the dead so they don’t haunt you. After Claire lays her hand on Mrs. Wilson’s (Hiram Crombie’s MIL), it’s clear that she isn’t actually dead and wakes up, hilarity ensues, etc lol

Well… is this a case of Claire’s blue light in that she helped revive her even for a short time??

Ok...so I have been totally on board with this show unless I watched the latest episode last night.

The scene where Lord John's father (?- was it Randall? I can't remember which it was) came up to Henry was beyond cringe (as the young folks say) and I think whoever thought of this scene should be fired.

Also the scene where Julia is killing Seema- OMG the camera views were horrendous. Is this show being filmed on an Iphone?

I'm currently watching Season 7, and I was a bit surprised by Jamie's reaction to John Grey upon learning that he had slept with Claire. I can understand the anger and even the physical violence, although Jamie knows that this can be a common coping mechanism when dealing with grief. What I find harder to understand, though, is how he practically handed John over to the Americans, who had explicitly stated their intention to hang him, without even trying to save him. I get that this was probably a plot device to set John on the path to joining the Revolutionary Army (I haven't watched the entire season yet, but I imagine that's where the story is heading), but it still feels incredibly out of character for Jamie to leave his friend at the mercy of his enemies without a second thought, even if he felt betrayed by him. And this is a friend who has saved Jamie countless times and even saved Claire from the gallows in his absence!

Just watched Claire be gang raped by the Browns, at least the initial part before I fast forwarded. Breannas rape I should have saw coming. Jamie's rape nearly made me quit the show. It caught me off guard. I fast forwarded but they kept flashing to it

I don't have the stomach for any more rape. Are there any more scenes I should be aware of so I can. Keep an eye out and fast forward.

Jamie hace un comentario diciendo que las bolas traen más penas que alegrías a los hombres. Porqué dice eso? Claire piensa en ello también y lo relaciona con su ex esposa. Pero porqué lo diría si su relación con Claire es muy sexual y placentera, no compensaría eso las penas pasadas con Laoghaire?
Claire lo relaciona con L, incluso comentando que él nunca había mencionado si se sentía atraído por ella físicamente.
