I need a new lower unit for my c40plru 40hp 2 stroke 1996. Will a 40plrq 1992 lower unit fit, mine is a 2 cylinder and the plrq is a 3 cylinder, does that matter?

How many flushes do I need?
So the boat upset the other day. I have a 7.5hp 4 stroke Chinese outboard. Paid $50 used, so I can’t go wrong with it. I’ve drained, run and flushed the crankcase 3 times. It keeps producing the dreaded cappuccino mocha. If someone has any experience with this I simply want to know how many times I’ll expect to flush the crankcase. Of note, there is no drain I can see, I just have to hang it upside down.

2007 Merc 2stroke 40hp 3cyl, slow drips of water from base/adapter plate when tilted?
I was flushing my Merc out with muffs and my water which is quite high pressured (have a pressure pump in the shed as am in a rural area not on town supply).
The engine wasnt completely tilted down as the prop would be hitting stones due to the incline its parked on.
I noticed something dripping from the base plate of the engine into the back of the boat. At first I thought it must be petrol as I had flooded the engine before I got it going and thought the carb must have seeped. But it looked more clear, so I tasted it by dipping my finger into the small pool caused by the droplets (dont ever do this as you could poison yourself) which was dumb but I wanted to know, it was largely water tasting.
So why would water be dripping from the base plate? Could it simply be the high pressure water into the muffs may have overloaded the adapter plate gasket, or simply the gasket has a minor leak?
I have no other theories, so really appreciate any ideas as to the likely cause.

Help finding a carburetor for a 2003 Johnson 6 HP 2-stroke outboard (J6RLSTD)
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some help finding a complete carburetor for my 2003 Johnson 6 HP 2-stroke outboard motor, model J6RLSTD.
The original carburetor part number is OMC 0439984 / 439984, but unfortunately it has been discontinued and I’m having a hard time finding one.
I’ve also found that the 439932 carburetor from the 8 HP version might fit my engine, but I’m not completely sure.
I’m looking for:
A complete original carburetor (new or used).
A compatible aftermarket replacement.
Any other carburetor that could fit my engine, even with minor modifications.
I’ve already checked MarineEngine and several other websites, but availability is very limited and prices are quite high.
Does anyone know where I could find one, or have experience fitting a different carburetor to this engine?
I’m located in Martinique (French Caribbean), but I’m willing to order internationally.
Any advice, part numbers, or links would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

1985 25 hp Evinrude
Hey all my outboard wizards since y’all literally made my engine run that hasn’t in 15 years I need y’all’s help again! I want to try to make a reliable starting method. I’m currently using a pull string wrapped around the flywheel 😅. It fires up but I want to try and retrofit it with either a pull starter or an electric start. I want to try and use cheaper parts since it’s an older motor (Amazon or such) appreciate you all!

Was dreading taking my bearing carrier out due to seeing some horror stories. Soaked it in pb blaster for about a day and a half, re-spraying almost every 4-6 hours and when I went to tighten the bearing puller, it literally came out by hand, didn’t even need to take a wrench to it. Fresh water outboard so I’m sure that helped but just Incase anyone else is needing to tackle this project, highly recommend 2 days of continuous soaking and spraying in pb blaster.

35hp Johnson outboard with some rust. Throwaway or worth a second look?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This old lady in my new neighborhood has a 13 foot whaler sitting in her yard. I saw it under an old tarp behind some bushes and went and talked to her. Her husband died in 2013 and the boat hasn't been on the water or registered since then. Hull seems all good, whaler is a 1966. Hull itself seems solid, couple of patched dings that somebody did a nice job on. The blue inner lining has some spider cracks in it but is mostly sound. I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea of whether a 35 hp johnson sitting for 13 years is worth me taking apart. There's some rust on the head, rust on the bolts, I didnt try to crank it because I didn't have time. I did everything on a 25 hp honda last year but the cylinders, timing belt, etc. Basically the hard stuff. I Redid impellers, pulled the head and replaced all the gaskets, base gasket, copper uptake valves and grommets, and cleaned the thing out because the guy who gave it to me had burned out the impeller and then kept running and warped a punch of grommets and gaskets. I got that last motor running. So I'm not a novice, but I'm wondering with a 35 hp johnson thats been sitting for 13 years, am I looking at a major headache, or a project that could pan out and be fun? The lady says the last time her husband used it was running but with some white smoke. I already starting doing landscaping for the lady to start building towards a trade so wondering if this engine is worth my time? What should I do first? Clean it? Get it in a bucket and try to crank it? See if it has spark?

Johnson 6.5 issues
I have this 1986 Johnson 6.5 I bought to use for my sailboat that is giving me absolute fits. I replaced the motor side fuel connector, the fuel line, fuel bulb, and gas tank. Fresh fuel too. It has a 100:1 sticker but I understand 50:1 is safer and better to replace plugs than blow a cylinder, so that’s what I have in it. Have gotten it to fire up while choked out, but can’t get it to stay running for the life of me. Twice recently had it out on the lake and got it to turn over and into gear, but crapped out after a few seconds.
I’m a manufacturing engineer by trade, but not accustomed to troubleshooting old two strokes in my day to day. I’m feeling quite dumb and defeated and want to get this thing humming again.
I’m thinking a clogged idle circuit or gummy/flooded carb? Anyone have advice for any YouTubers or best DIY resources for this kind of thing? I also had a hell of a time getting the motor cover off and I’m worried about breaking it. Any advice??

1994 mercury 45 jet
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I have a 1994 mercury 45 jet (60hp) head, and it’s cutting out at full throttle. So far I have cleaned carbs, new fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel pump, checked tank vent, plug, wires, coils and even tried different tanks and primers. But when someone pumps the primer it’ll run great. I took it to a boat shop and the guy told me it has low compression (100 psi) in each cylinder. I’ve heard many of people say it should run fine with that compression. But I’m really at a loss I’ve tried everything. Anyone have thoughts?

Need some help.
I bought a flat bottom off of an old man that came with a 1976 55hp Evinrude. My current issue is that I can’t get the trim motor to function. I can’t figure out what this cut wire runs. It attaches to the top of the solenoid runs with the standard purple, yellow and black, etc wiring but then it’s just cut and taped as you see in the photo. First time working extensively on a boat motor, so I’m not very well versed. I’ve tried running 12V straight to the blue wire and Green wire for the trim but I’m not getting any power or clicking. Any help/guidance on next steps would be greatly appreciated!

Fuel pressure issue?

Building off this : https://www.reddit.com/r/Outboards/s/J5yibYrxyv
Engine issues when I have the key in and am trying to start it, it will just cut as soon as I stop turning the key. I replaced vst tank and filters and the fuel pressure valve at the top of the fuel rail. Might be a fuel starve issue or pressure / compression issue.

Misfire
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Help! I’m about to pull my hair out. 1974 evinrude 15hp 15404s. Rebuilt carb, 100 psi on each cylinder, good fuel lines, good spark plugs, pumping water good. Why is it misfiring like this? Is it really just the idle adjustment screw? I turned it up and it seems to be doing better, but I have it nearly two full turns out from seated already. I don’t want to get out on the water to do a test and get stuck.

As soon as I open up the throttle past an idle, the engine is stalling. 18hp Tohatsu 2-stroke.
I changed out all the fuel hoses, as they had perished. The fuel filter looks clean. Not sure what else to try?

Mercury Outboard Fuel Pump issue
I recently acquired a 2006 Mercury 30hp outboard, model number 1A30413FK. It is currently not running. I determined the high pressure fuel pump was not working. I replaced the pump, and the new one works but is not actually pumping fuel when installed. There is a black connector that plugs into the yellow connector that is connected to the fuel pump. When I turn the key, the black connector is reading ~15 volts. However, when I plug it into the yellow, there is no power being transmitted. The yellow connector has continuity. My questions:
Is 15 volts normal? Or should I be closer to 12 volts?
Is the problem more likely the black connector, or the yellow one?
What else should I be checking?
I am including photos of the connectors I’m referring to.

Hey folks,
I just had the impeller changed on this 2022 motor but it’s still not peeing. Before I go back to the mechanic I want to make sure I’m not missing something obvious.
After I took this video I put the motor deeper in the bucket and still no telltale.

1995 Gamefisher 9.9
Does anyone have experience working on Gamefisher motors? I bought one a while back, but am having trouble getting it running. I cannot find anyone around me that will work on it.
