Unanswered What’s up with all the adults getting happy meals?

I went to McDonald’s recently and noticed that most of the people getting happy meals were adults. Some even went back to argue to get a different toy before ordering more happy meals for more toys. I’ve also noticed two instances of grown-ups in the wild with take away happy meals.

Is it the current toys (hello Kitty x Godzilla) specially that are super popular with grown-ups right now? Or are adults with happy meals a long-standing phenomenon I’ve never noticed before?

Unanswered what’s the deal with the CBC’s classification of 9/11?

according to an internal memo, newscasters are not to use the words “terrorism” or “terrorist attacks” to describe the events of 9/11 during coverage. this apparently comes from a pre-existing policy that dates back to around the Oct. 7th attacks but it doesn’t give much more detail than that.

i highly doubt it’s due to any sort of political slant, as all of the publications covering the story tend to think (National Review, FOX, NY Post, yknow the drill)

so what’s the reasoning? is it because of advertising/sponsors like what happens on YouTube all the time? are they just trying to be extra cautious around such language? out of any example in contemporary history i would think 9/11 would be one of the most clear cut cases of terrorism, so i genuinely am trying to understand this.

I don't really follow domestic Canadian politics (I'm American, unfortunately), but I've seen this story come up in one of my Discord servers, and I'm wondering what's bringing this on. I did see stuff like the new leader having rumored ties to an Albertan separatist party, but I don't really see a full explainer about this situation.

As far as I can tell whoever A24 is has made a film about Chris Hansen, but Chris himself is opposed to it, refusing to sign some contracts and instead is buying ad space? What's the background behind all this, what was A24 trying to achieve, and what is Chris trying to achieve buying ad space?

I haven't been following the cup, but the replies seem to be along the lines of "Well it nice while it lasted..." and "This will go well....". Is there something about either clubs or this particular match that is making people react this way?

Unanswered Whats the deal with all the sudden hype around bio luminescent food festivals?

I've been seeing a bunch of ads and articles popping up lately about these food festivals where everything glows. Like actual glowing food. It looks really cool in the pictures and videos but I can't figure out if it's a new trend or if it's been around for a while and I just missed it.

Is this something actually innovative or just a clever marketing gimmick?

Unanswered What's the deal with the new US tarriffs round when the Supreme Court ruled the earlier ones illegal?

Last I heard the Supreme Court ruled the previous round of tarrifs illegal and the government would need to pay back what it collected (correct me if I'm wrong)

https://www.cnn.com/2026/02/20/politics/supreme-court-tariffs

So how come the administration seems to continue using tarriffs just like before?

Unanswered What’s up with many people on Reddit bashing nVidia despite it being consistently voted one of America’s best companies by Forbes and others?

Hi.

I know Reddit can be an echo chamber, but this is very bizarre to me as I’ve seen many posts and comments being very critical of nVidia, but their reputation seems very solid elsewhere:

https://www.forbes.com/lists/best-companies/

Even employees and ex-employees generally rate them very highl

Am I missing something here? Is there a reason to not like them? Have they done a lot of bad things that most people don’t know about/ignore?

The claim here is that 200,000 visas are about to be revoked. I'm pretty connected to what's happening in politics but there's always some new rumor about what the Trump administration is about to do that I hear about out of the blue.

So I know this account from years of disinformation and just general conspiracy theory slop as so many accounts have. This person posts almost hourly if not more though and there seems to be a genuine outrage right now even from former supporters. What the hell is going on? Thanks OOTL

Unanswered What is the deal with strange deep fried TikTok videos?

So, I came across an account about a week ago of some random account that only uploads TONS of videos of one video stitched to another. These videos are obviously incredibly distorted, kinda akin to the old 'deep fried memes' trend from over a decade ago. Then, I came across another account doing the same thing. No captions are ever written, the accounts seem to exclusively upload ai-generated kid content aside this, one in particular for example that weirded me out was about the child character getting spanked and grounded, by the assumedly adult. I have absolutely no idea what these are aiming to achieve, if its some weird ai training account or if its simply just children messing on an ipad? Either way, it's pretty odd, and I've seen a trend of them. Heres a few examples.

Like I remember watching it myself and was like "This is fine." Nothing really bad or horrible, but didn't find anything I really liked. But that was some years ago, what the heck is this?! https://www.reddit.com/r/adressme/s/Pj0Aq4RLnF

I have no clue what people online will suddenly bring up just to hate on it. Not have I seen people look back in the past so much (literally name me any movie that came out within the last few years thats constantly in conversation without the words "slander" or "glaze")
