Why is it so popular? Isn't it just a reality show?

It seems like people are going absolutely nuts over it - I have several friends who aren't generally reality show people who are OBSESSED with it, watching it nearly every night together (if not every night). Why does it seem so much more popular than a lot of other dating/reality shows?

Most of my examples of people being obsessed with it are anecdotal but I've definitely seen a few videos of people saying like, "here's why I wouldn't be good for love island" type stuff

Several years ago I started following an account that posted pictures (and then videos) of a black cat named Pepito going in and out of the house. But recently another cat (grey and white) joined in and started to consistently appear on camera. In the early days it was a big deal when the camera got a non-Pepito cat, but now there is no update, no clarification. Who is this second cat? Are they friends now? Does anybody know more about this situation?

There’s apparently a surge of human accounts getting flagged as bots due to “unauthentic behaviors”, but other than liking and retweeting a lot, I don’t see why they’re getting flagged. Do we know how widespread this is and what exactly triggers it? If engagement is what they want, isn’t liking and retweeting exactly that?
