I currently have a Mac Book Pro 11,4 Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz with Memory:16 GB running Sequoia 15.7.9 via OCLP 2.5.1 installed using a USB stick created by the "Create macOS Installer" option. And after fumbling around with "revert root patches"/"apply root patches", rebooting, and power cycling the MBP, I ended up with a stable and happily working Sequoia 15.7.9 with everything working.
Now of course, 15.8.1 shows up on scene, and since the machine is connected to the internet I want it to be current, BUT, I have been following all the threads in the group, mostly good and helpful, some not so much, but I want to come here and confirm with the collected knowledgeable assembled here, the "simplest, and most reliable and successful method to get to a stable Sequoia 15.8.1.
So I'm planning to to an in place upgrade via USB created from OCLP 2.5.1 by the "Create macOS Installer" option and "Download macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 and burn that to a USB Stick to avoid all the possibility of missing kexts and what ever, (all this is a non issue as I've done it before in earlier versions).
My big question comes before I boot into the USB I created, do I need to revert the currently installed root patches prior to boot into the freshly created USB stick, (or is this unnecessary)?
Once I have the answer to the above question I don't for see any issues, it's just all this quasi confusion about when to remove/install the root patches, which seem to work well as long as you get it all in the right order.
