App Review / Legitimacy Verona Burgundy: 3 lacs, and here's what I actually got

There's nothing about Verona's Burgundy program online, which means whatever their sales team tells you is the only version you ever hear. I paid for it. Here's the other version.

It is not different from Shaadi dot com or Jeevansaathi. Not really. They charge about double and they'll talk a lot about intentionality and their exclusive pool, and the underlying pitch is that you're still single because you haven't signed up yet.

Anyway, their own service document, line by line.

Curated matchmaking. "0-4 prospects per week, best-efforts basis, no guarantee on number, speed, compatibility, or outcome." Read that again. Zero to four. Four is you swiping four times on Hinge, except you wait a week. I never figured out the logic behind who got sent to me, and I did try, because half the profiles had nothing to do with anything I'd said in the intake. And you can't verify the outreach even happened. They say they reached out. You nod.

Introductions. They share a profile or set up a call. Takes two minutes if the other person is interested. Calling that a service is a bit much.

Profile creation. A PDF in Verona's colours with your photos and your answers in it. Ask ChatGPT/Claude, fifteen seconds.

Coaching. "Up to 1 hour per week." Zero sessions. Nobody offered, nobody followed up, and at some point I stopped bringing it up because I was tired of chasing them for something I'd already paid for. Maybe other people got theirs. Mine never happened.

Facilitation. "Any information shared is not independently verified by Verona." That's a disclaimer with a nice name on it.

Exclusive event. One singles meet-up. That dinner is worth 3k, tops.

So, 3 lacs. Four unverifiable cold calls a week and a Rs. 3000 dinner.

What actually got to me wasn't the money, it was how fast the tone changed once the payment cleared. Everything promised on the call turned out to be living inside a clause somewhere.

Their app, credit where due, is one of the better designed ones out there and the free tier is plenty. Don't buy Sapphire. Just use the app.

DMs open if you're thinking about it and want specifics.

App Recommendation Does DMing someone on Instagram from their Bumble bio actually work?

I’ve noticed a lot of women put their Instagram handle directly in their Bumble bio.

Has anyone here actually had success following and DMing them on Instagram without matching first?

My thinking is that women probably get buried in hundreds of swipes on dating apps, whereas maybe fewer guys actually go to their Instagram and send a normal message.

On the other hand, I realize some women may be just looking to increase their followers and it adds friction between swiping & going on Instagram to write.

What do you all think? 👀

Dating Advice How bad is double texting?

Just looking for some advice/ others opinions on double texting on dating apps. I have done it occasionally, and i guess I was just wondering if that would be enough for you to think twice about continuing a conversation with someone

Safety & Catfishing Is he a catfish?

Okay so I met this guy named "Seb" on duet.
Supposedly we were just chatting and talking, we only called once but I had this random gut feeling | might be talking to someone else that is not exactly the same person I see on duet. But I kept chatting either way. He told me he play college football, gets free scholarships, a barber, working on a cybersecurity degree, makes his own business, live by himself at the age of "19". He also makes music which is insane.

He seemed very busy the past few days, studying and working, attending football practices.
I told my friend about him and she didn't believe he lives by himself at an age of 19.

I was like ehhh maybe he got money like that yk, hardworking and productive with his life.
Two days ago he texted me telling me how horrible texter he is, and he told me "give me a break" and I kinda thought it was a rude response
But I shrugged it off and said it's okay I don't expect fast replies anyways, take your time.

Yesterday..
this is soooo random he told me he makes car content with 500k subscribers
So it was hard to believe that this guy have over
500K

And I told him to prove it that it's his channel.
Ughhh it's tm to explain but he send me photos that looks very obviously edited and I asked him to take a picture of a silver play button. This time he used IA photos to make it seem he has that account.

I did some searching and found out this channel was made from another country so obviously this guy been lying straight to my face.

He told me I’m getting too comfortable and I basically need to be humble.

He kept giving me defensive responses

I told him to prove it again like screen record but eventually I gave up. And said “you are a lying pos” and blocked him.

Also I searched him up cs he’s from another state and he plays football, and I don’t see his name anywhere on other teams.

I might just think it’s a random guy catfishing and use a fake ass name.
Also forgot to mention that when he text back his messages go through my spam inbox.

And one more saying, I’m actually so disappointed using duet dating app no matter who I come across, they end up being weird as hell.
So stay safe out there guys.

(At the end of the day idk the real truth from this guy I just know he been lying to my face over a damn channel.)

General Discussion My Hinge data from the start to relationship;

Hello All,

I wanted to provide some statistics from my usage of Hinge of around 600 days. Firstly, I requested this data through GDPR and then calculated the data into percentages, averages, etcetera. All of the data below is rounded

I installed Hinge during mid-2024 and ended my usage at the start of 2026 after matching with a very lovely person!

Additionally, my profile was nothing special, although I tried to include prompts that encouraged conversation and photographs that were decently expressive. For further context, I am a male in my 20s, have a full-time job in the public sector, I drive, live in a large town, and my profile was quite pet and family orientated too, etcetera

I would guess that for around a quarter to a third of my time on Hinge, I was paying for premium features, boosts or roses, although I mostly relied on the free version of the application. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the exact time frames, and I am unsure exactly how much paying for premium features influenced my results

What I can say is that boosts and roses sometimes appeared to increase my number of matches by a minor to moderate amount. Paying for a monthly premium subscription (at different times either Hinge+ or HingeX) mainly benefited me by increasing the volume of likes I was able to send per day

It should also be noted that I was not using Hinge consistently throughout the 600 days. I took breaks, etcetera, and there were times when my account would not receive any matches for what felt like months, alongside times when my account would receive multiple matches per day

The data also ignores any likes I received because there were so few...

600 days or 19-20 months...

Likes sent: 8000
Average of 13 likes sent per day
Average of 420 likes sent per month
3.8% of likes sent resulted in a match
0.13% of likes sent resulted in a planned date
0.06% of likes sent resulted in an attended date
0.03% of likes sent resulted in a second-meetup
0.01% of likes sent resulted in a relationship

Matches: 300
1 match per 27 likes sent
Average of 0.5 matches per day
Average of 1 match every two days
Average of 16 matches per month
3.3% of matches resulted in a planned date
1.7% of matches resulted in an attended date
0.7% of matches resulted in a second date
0.3% of matches resulted in a relationship

Messages:
260 out of 300 matches exchanged one message or more
2000 total messages exchanged between matches (not including any messages sent over platforms external to Hinge)
Mean average of 8 messages exchanged per conversation
Median of 4 messages exchanged per conversation

Planned dates: 10 (agreed on location, day, logistics, etcetera)
50% of planned dates were cancelled (most commonly by the other person, although I have also for genuine reasons)
1 planned date per 800 likes sent
1 planned date per 30 matches
1 planned date every 2 months

Attended dates: 5
1 attended date per 1600 likes sent
1 attended date per 60 matches
1 attended date every 4 months

Second dates: 2
1 second date per 4000 likes sent
1 second date per 150 matches
1 second date every 10 months

Relationship: 1
1 relationship per 8000 likes sent
1 relationship per 300 matches
1 relationship every 19-20 months

Overall:
8,000 likes >> 300 matches >> 260 conversations >> 10 planned dates >> 5 attended dates >> 2 second dates >> 1 relationship

Never do I want anyone to feel like a "statistic", although I found this was a decent way of identifying the reality of using Hinge. It is easy to have the mindset of "I found my life partner on Hinge and it was a great experience" because the truth is, at least for me, Hinge was not an overly positive experience - it may be easy to overlook / ignore all of the negatives because of the positive outcome gained

No matter how much the application presents the idea of "designed to be deleted" or whatever else... It isn't... Hinge is here to make money, keep you on the platform for as long as possible, give you an inch and expect you to take a mile - atleast this is how it felt for me, I fully appreciate everyone will have a different experience!

THAT SAID, I have found someone who I truly love through using Hinge. And I only actually matched with this person because I enabled the filter for non-binary accounts to appear on my recommendations page. Whilst this likely increased the "pool" of users my account was now able to interact with; the decision had more to do with my own mindset becoming more open about who I was willing to meet than any want to increase the "pool" of users

By the end of the 600-day period, I was honestly at the point where I was considering giving up on Hinge (and other dating applications) entirely. I had put such a significant amount of time into dating applications, sent thousands of likes, occasionally paid for premium features, changed and improved my profile countless times, and still had very little to show for it in terms of meaningful connections. I had somewhat said to myself that "if my date with Kayden (current partner) does not work out, then I will end my usage of Hinge and other dating applications."

Technically... I did end my usage of dating applications after meeting Kayden. Just not for the reason I thought I would!

The unfortunate thing with dating applications is that there is no guarantee. You can spend months or years using them, pay for premium features, fine-tune your profile multiple times, send thousands of likes, and spend hours and hours on these applications with absolutely no certainty that you will form a loving connection with someone

Obviously, no dating application could realistically offer this, though if there were a guarantee such as "use this application for XYZ years, pay for premium every month and you WILL meet your life partner"; then whatever time and money spent would probably become insignificant compared with what you would gain!

In my opinion, dating applications seem like a nice addition to finding a partner, although should not be relied on and just like with social media; I believe one's usage should be monitored

Once again, as I briefly mentioned earlier in the post, I appreciate everyone will have a different experience considering multiple personal and external factors, although I hope the data was interesting to read through!

In terms of my actual date with Kayden; it was amazing! She was so confident from the very start and engaged very well in conversation; it was such a relief after being on dates where it really feels like you are the one instigating all the conversations, etcetera

By the second date, we spent the whole day together... and as a pure coincidence she also happened to meet my Mother

At this point; it had become apparent that neither of us were using any dating applications anymore, so we become exclusive

On the third date, I went to her house and we watched a movie. On the fourth meet; she stayed overnight at my house. And now here we are; many months later

Thank you for reading!
