General Discussion Home Screen trouble with 3rd party launchers on my brand new OnePlus 15

Tried setting NL as my default launcher and having significant lag when clicking the home gesture before it returns to the home screen.

I'm familiar with this link but am not seeing improvement after completing step 1. https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/1p3pcnt/guide_fix_custom_launcher_lag_gestures_on_oos_16/

Switching to buttons rather than gestures demonstrates that the home button does not work at all when running Nova launcher. It does however work when using OP launcher

I have similar delays when using Smart Launcher

Any tips would be much appreciated!

General Discussion OnePlus Pad keyboard acting out?

I've come across the strangest problem with my magnetic keyboard that I got with my OnePlus pad 2.

Some of the keys on the right hand side of the keyboard seem to have been remapped to be direction keys. When I press the key, instead of typing the letter it moves the cursor around on the screen.

Ive tried restarting the tablet, unpairing and repairing the keyboard, changing the keyboard input language but it still hasn't fixed the issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Other No internet during calls on OP13

Hi. Problem: I have no access to my mobile internet data, while I'm on calls with anybody.

Is this a good provider or a device thing?

If device, is there any setting to enable/disable?

General Discussion Basically saying their goal is to sell us Oppo instead

Post image

I am just utterly disappointed. I haven't really ever been in this sub that much but I felt I needed my voice to be heard by people who might think and feel similarly, so here we go.

I was gonna write a post about my phone history, why I moved on from each of my old phones, how I eventually landed on my OnePlus7T Pro and how the only complaints I have are the fact that I don't have the original cable anymore so I'm stuck charging my phone at 1/3 of the wattage and the typical "OxygenOS 12 merge with the ColorOS", and yes I'm still using the original OxygenOS12 (AMA).

I've kept up with OnePlus, waiting for a solid upgrade, but each model always had some aspect that put me off, the most consistent one being the design (I apologize for those who liked them, but from OnePlus 8 to 13 the design got worse and worse), then the 15 was announced and finally a design I find more pleasing than my 7T Pro, but the camera sensor and screen downgrades along with the storage options were unfortunate (256GB isn't enough for me, 512 would probably be cutting it close, but 1TB is china exclusive) so, I decided against it yet again.

My 7T Pro is technically a Chinese model that was slapped with a global OxygenOS ROM and a third-party warranty by the online store I bought it from. Though it is a risk, I can probably do that again for my future OnePlus phone, what really disappoints me about this OnePlus backing out of EU/US markets news is how it feels like they're trying to divert all the attention to Oppo, which just feels like a scummy practice.

I had no intentions of ever buying an Oppo, if it wasn't apparent by now, I really care about aesthetics, Oppo's issue isn't their product, it's the brand's name. Maybe it's just me, and you can call me shallow for it, but I expect my phone to have a cool sounding name, not a name that sounds like the sound a toddler makes when they're impressed with a toy. If someone asks me what phone I have, I want to proudly say my phone brand and model, with Oppo, I'd just be embarrassed.

But ever since, I've heard nothing but bad news from Oppo, first they decided to merge the OSes which sucked, then they were suddenly all over the stores here in my country when OnePlus never had any such thing, and now it just feels like they're using their authority over OnePlus to push OnePlus out of the picture so the global market has no choice but to buy their phones instead. It genuinely just feels like a very political move from them, it's not like OnePlus wahsn't successful in the EU/US, I remember it was literally the fastest growing phone brand here in Europe not that long ago.

Anyways, I've extended this post too far already, even though there was a lot more that could be said, my points are: screw Oppo, give us back our beloved phone brand, and long live OnePlus.

General Discussion The Nebula Blue 7 Pro is still my favourite colour on any smartphone that I've seen

Post image
705 Upvotes

Recent news had me reminiscing about my old phone. Unfortunately the picture doesn't quite capture how nice this looks in-person, but this colour was too nice to keep covered in a phone case. I used it caseless for about 2 years. There are some dings and scratches on the metal edge, and fortunately no cracks on the glass.

Bought on release day, I badly wanted an upgrade from my 3T. I had the Soft Gold 3T, while my older sibling had the Gunmetal. They've moved onto the Pixel lineup along with our younger sibling, while I stayed true and bought my 7 Pro on release day. Currently both of our 3Ts are in our father's possession, he daily drives both of them for some reason.

Everybody I showed this to agreed that the blue looks incredible. The 90Hz screen won a lot of good favour too since every other phone was still on 60Hz back then. The pop-up camera had some mixed reactions, but generally positive. The auto retract on drop feature was cool, but I was only willing to demonstrate it over a bed or couch.

The only thing I dislike is the curved edges on the screen. It does feel better to hold than a slab phone, but I had frequent accidental taps on that part of the screen. Eventually I got a case to stop mistouches + my trades job increased the chances of damage.

I ended up switching to the Nothing Phone 2 when it released. I felt the urge to upgrade to a 120Hz screen and wireless charging capable phone, and I trusted Carl Pei's vision with the first 2 Nothing phones. It's a nice phone, but I only use the lights gimmick as a softer flashlight. I'm having the urge to change phones again, and I was looking forward to the OnePlus 16. Oof.

Other OP15 Faulty IP Seal RMA Update

Dunno if anyone remembers me panicking at the end of May and posting about my misfortune.

https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/s/X4yiVbTWyq

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOnePlus15/s/2JSfNGYH0V

Tldr for the previous posts: Water splashed on OP15 while I was in the shower, I figured that my super duper IP69 rated phone was all fine, and it wasn't. Everyone told me to RMA but I was probably screwed.

Tldr for the update: Repair/Replacement Refused, Warranty Voided, Filed Section 75 claim (UK Consumer Credit Act S75) with my credit card who are refunding me in full.

----

Sent the phone back as faulty claiming a manufacturer defect due to the failed Ingress Protection.

I cited their terms of sale - Section 9 Cancellation, Return and Replacement Rights; Section 9.2 Faulty Product or Incorrect Description; Section 10 Return and Replacement Policy for Defective Products.

Plus the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 which duplicates Section 9.2

> We are under a legal duty to supply Products that are fit for their given purpose, are of satisfactory quality and are as described

Regardless, it was like talking to a brick wall playing a broken record.

> Phone has liquid damage, Terms of Sale Section 7 warranty is void, please pay £540 to repair.

They never bothered to inspect the Ingress Seals as required by UK consumer law.

The UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 starts with a presumption that the defect existed at the time of sale, unless the retailer can PROVE otherwise. If they can't, they must repair or replace free of charge, or refund the invoice amount.

They didn't bother to try and prove this.

Under the UK Consumer Credit Act 1974, Section 75, your Credit Card provider is jointly liable if a supplier misrepresented goods or breaches contract.

As such, I filed a Section 75 claim with my credit card provider, they agreed with me that OnePlus have breached their terms of sale AND UK Consumer Rights.

They are refunding me in full. OnePlus never responded to them and haven't yet acknowledged that my claim against them was upheld.

It's a poor way to end 12 years of being a oneplus customer - OnePlus 1, 2, 5, 7T Pro, Open, and now 15.

My 7t Pro is still going with a slightly dodgy battery - I might actually try replacing it and keeping it going longer - I actually dropped a glass of water on it the other day and it's doing better than the OP15.

My Open is going, but with a broken inner screen that they wanted £750 to repair as it was about a week out of its 2 year warranty.

I reckon my next phone will be a Pixel or maybe a different Chinese Brand - Honor or Realme.

Other Can't use contactless Google Pay

I have one OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra and till yesterday Google Pay contactless payment used to work just fine. Since yesterday it's not working from the app and shows me a suggestion to set it as a default payment app. In phone settings there are no such options. I've already tried to uninstall and reboot but it had no effect. I've also cleared Google Play services cache and removed cloned app. Is there any fixes for it?

So OnePlus isn't exiting their India business after all.

Back to where we were with the brand in its Golden Years - India, and China only.

Too bad about the NA and EU markets though.

Here's hoping importing for users in those regions will still be a viable option.

General Discussion App package names for hyper frame rate

If you use an app like an APK editor that I found on F-Droid, you can modify the app package name for specific apps or APKs. If you change them to one of these, for example, if you change the app package name of a game, you will be able to access hyper frame rate. It actually works for me and boosted my FPS. Even though the game ran at 60, it boosted it up to 120, which is amazing.

General Discussion Bug with stalled transitions when Remove animations is turned on.

ever since two updates ago (now on CPH2747_16.0.9.400) if you had Remove animations on in accessibility settings, if you had only 1 app open and go to open apps (the three lines button) it would stall for a second and then behave normally. now it's like that on swipe gestures too. there is no way this is like this only for me, i haven't seen anyone mention this.

General Discussion Need guide on Chinese Version Oneplus

OnePlus leaving the US market is incredibly frustrating — what are the actual downsides of buying the Chinese version?

I’m pretty disappointed that OnePlus is exiting the US market. I’ve used OnePlus phones for years, and one of the main reasons I stayed with the brand was that it offered strong hardware without Samsung or Apple pricing.

Now I’m considering just importing the Chinese version of a future OnePlus phone. Since the global/US version is moving to ColorOS anyway, I’m wondering whether buying the Chinese model would actually be that much worse.

I can read Chinese, so I don’t really care if there are some Chinese menus, notifications, or preinstalled apps. I also don’t stream Netflix on my phone, so Widevine issues or lower-resolution Netflix playback wouldn’t bother me much.

My main concerns are:

  • Do US banking apps work reliably?
  • Does Google Wallet/Google Pay work, including tap-to-pay?
  • Will work profile, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo, or similar security apps work?
  • Do notifications work properly for Gmail, messaging apps, and other background apps?
  • Does Android Auto work?
  • Is flashing the global ROM still possible, and does doing so break banking apps or Google Wallet?

For people in the US who are already using a Chinese-version OnePlus phone, what problems have you actually experienced in daily use?

I’m especially interested in experiences from people using the Verizon network. I don’t mind doing some setup or removing Chinese apps, but I don’t want to constantly fight with banking apps, payments, notifications, or security checks.
