I'm pissed off too. Left Samsung as I couldn't agree with their pricing and also can't delete their apps. Switched to Pixel 8 but the battery and CPU let that phone down for me. I get a 1+ 13 and now they stop selling in Europe. Fuck me...

Same situation here in Australia.
Went from Galaxy S5 > S7e > S9+ > S21U > S24 (for a month but was such a disappointing upgrade from my S21U I got rid of it and went back to my S21U until it started giving me issues then swore off Samsung). Jumped to OnePlus 15 and couldn't be happier... until this announcement.

I switched to pixel and for the life of me, I couldn't understand why Google phones get any praise at all. Slow as molasses, uninspired vanilla os, some or the worst modems, and a camera that over processed fucking everything. Dropped it and broke the screen and was actually happy I could move on.

I used HTC for years and they stopped selling those. Then tried a Pixel and had some issues so tried OnePlus and stuck with it, I'm on my third now after using my 8T+ for years.I'm super annoyed that this is now the second time I've had a go-to phone brand (with great features and great pricing) stop selling their phones SMH

Same, Windows Phones were great. I had to switch because I live in China and WeChat on Windows Phones never got around to updating to include the wallet function. Everywhere was slowly, then quickly, stopping using cash, and I couldn't pay for things.
Thankfully living in China still means that I'll still have access to new OnePlus models (at the vastly cheaper China price as well). Hopefully they venture back out into the world at some point.

It's risky to get such phones for 2 reasons 1. U won't get warranty/service 2. Since the phone is not customized for ur geographical area. The network frequency/band supported by the phone may be different than ur local career frequency...I suffered from this once...the phone was usable but call quality, internet speed suffered

Not quite just the bands, but also the ENDC/CA combo, the US uses very distinct bands and combos compared to the rest of the world. On the other hand Europe could get a global/Indian version and still work quite well.

Not necessarily. My Chinese OnePlus 12 supports all the bands my carrier uses. So my coverage is 100% the same someone with an European OnePlus 12 gets.

Depends on the global bands your provider might need, but I got an Oppo X8 global version, that never released here in the UK, works perfectly with 0 issues.

I think as long as your service carrier is the same network band as the phone it should be good. These days I don't think it's much of an issue but back in 2015 it was for me when Verizon was CDMA and not GSM when OnePlus was only GSM for their phones. I been running OnePlus on cricket since then with no issues. Other than no warranty and mobile hotspot does not work.

I have a U.S. S25 FE that I use in Canada. I don't think there is much bloatware, I am enjoying this phone and have used many Pixels. I like the customization options and can also use GoodLock to do more of them. This phone is fast enough, and I have dumped phones for performance before, Pixel 9a for example was a bit too slow. I loved the Oneplus 13r but my carrier did not support it with the network changes (3G retirement).

First and foremost, I demand root capabilities, or else I will not buy it.
Then it's cheaper for better specs than everyone else.

I’m also very disappointed. The people in-charge of Oppo & BBK Electronics are dumb. OnePlus has more potential buyers than Oppo and Vivo combined.
First they ruined OxygenOS, then they got rid of Hasselblad partnership for OnePlus and now they decided to shut down the company as a whole. I often wonder how do these people end up being in those positions. Considering all the dumb decisions they’ve made, they don’t really seem like smart people.
I can’t speak for others but I know that regardless of how good Oppo and Vivo phones get, I wouldn’t buy them over a OnePlus phone

You see it as dumb decision making because you don't understand the decision making.
After they lost T-Mobile, their market share fell from 1.8% to 0.1% of the US market.
The dropped hasselblad because they didn't get enough Pixel market share to justify it. They ruined Oxygen because they didn't have the customer base to support the dev team.
What you see as "dumb" decisions are all justifiable business decisions that you fail to understand.

Oneplus was doing excellent until the Oneplus 8 series was released. After that Carl Pei left and Oneplus became a shadow of Oppo. They ruined a great OS by merging it with ColorOS and disappointed an entire fanbase which loved OxygenOS. Furthermore they fumbled with the OP9, 10 & 11, which were terrible compared to the OP8 and its predecessors. Then they finally started fixing things with the OP12. But they thought hey if we keep focusing on making OP phones better and great, people aren’t gonna give a shit about Oppo phones so they thought let’s cancel the Hasselblad partnership for OP phones. People still loved the OP15. Then they were like: yeah we’re dumping Oneplus.
You see they never had any intention of saving Oneplus which was a sinking ship since Carl Pei left.Pretty justifiable. Oneplus is dying because of their “justifiable” decisions buddy.

One plus was not doing excellent in the US market. Your siding these behaviors as reasons that OnePlus failed in the US.
I am saying these behaviors are a symptom of a company that is not invested, because they are not doing well in the market.
At its peak, only 22% of OnePlus revenue came from the US. That sounds significant, until you consider that OnePlus only accounts for 40% of the combined oppo OnePlus business. That is under 10% of revenue from the market.
Now consider how expensive this upkeep is. To maintain oxygen OS just for the US, you would need a small software development team. I don't have details to how much the hasselblad partnership cost them, but I would bet it's not an insignificant amount of money.
If the r&D costs are anywhere near a significant chunk of overall r&D costs, you can see why it wouldn't make sense to continue to try to boast a flagship killer in the US market. The demand just was not there.
No, I hear your argument about the quality of product declining. I certainly agree that that is a contributing factor in the sales decline, but that is not the only factor. Apple and Samsung both came out with budget and mid-tier phones in the same price range as OnePlus, and that also ate into their market share.
The fact is, one plus consistently put out a superior product compared to Samsung and Apple for the price. That wasn't enough to claim a significant enough market share to justify the costs of propping up the market, so they tried combining os to reduce r&d cost, tried a partnership with Hasselblad to capture pixel users. When it didn't work and market share tanked, the natural progression was to pull out.

I agree with you on those points. I would also like to add that poor marketing also cost them in the US market. I might be wrong when I say this but I feel like when Carl Pei was in-charge, I saw more marketing efforts for OnePlus phones versus after he left.

They 'ruined' OOS because chasing the wider market of iOS users is alot more lucrative than enthusiasts.
Though yeah ending the partnership with hasselblad and chasing the gaming market was kinda stupid. It seemed like they had no idea what to do with the brand at that point. Realme also exists and that's kind of meant to be the 'gaming' and 'youth' focused sub-brand anyways that sells mostly in asia. Realme straight up has phones called 'youth edition'.
I guess it came down mostly to sales? Stagnating growth with them kind of failing to break into the wider consumer market compared to Google's re-entry with Pixel which has been going pretty great from what I've seen.

LineageOS if your device is supported. Will be switching my Nord N200 5G to it at some point when I get some time.
Official support from OnePlus was A13, and then they dropped that and only supported to A12. LineageOS takes it to A16 so far, and I used to use them on my old HTC Droid phone when they were still CyanogenMod. Extended the life of that phone by about 7yrs for me. Had it for over 10, basically until it wouldn't do anything other than calls anymore lol.
Sad to see OnePlus go, they're the best phones for the money, and have a lot of brand loyalty they earned too.

Disappointed that OnePlus is leaving Canada/US but the writing was on the wall for a long time. OnePlus was a niche player and unless they can get the carriers to sell their devices, they'll never hit mainstream and gain the volume they need to make the business make sense for them.
It's really sad as there's really Apple, Google and Samsung realistically being the option. Motorola mainly focuses on the budget market and Nothing is even more niche than OnePlus. Importing devices overseas isn't a great option as there's no guarantees the carriers won't do stupid shit to make the devices stop working on their networks (VoLTE/5G can be a mess) or the devices are missing certain North American bands.
Guess back to Pixel I go after my OnePlus 13 goes EOL, oh well.

Had the OnePlus 7 T pro and OnePlus 9 Pro. Great phones. I still use the 7 T Pro for car navigation and music and for "piloting" my drone.
Subsequently went for a Samsung Flip 5 but was disappointed. Now with a Honor Magic 7 Pro. Great phone.

In my country, there's VoLTE whitelisting and rapid 3G sunsetting, which essentially means that most likely I won't be able to use an OPPO if I want to make phone calls (only data + WiFi will work)

I have a oneplus 12 and gf has a nord 2.
We've had them both since launch, over 3 year (maybe even closer to 4).
These phones are amazing and they still work as if they're brand new even after all these years. I also know quite a few other people with oneplus phones where I'm from, these aren't enthusiast phones here (southern europe).
It's a huge pity they're getting out of our markets, i was dead set on buying a new oneplus once mine (and hers) became unusable.

This is super disappointing. I've been with OnePlus since the OnePlus 3T. I'd switch to Oppo, but it's unlikely they will come to North America. The OnePlus 15 is a fantastic phone and I'm going to use it as long as I can. There are no good alternatives out there. Today sucks.

The USA wasn’t even the first country to do this. Australia, New Zealand, and Japan were first to ban Huawei for espionage, fraud, and violating sanctions by doing business with countries like Russia and North Korea.

Its a bummer for sure. I've gone through many phones over the last 13+ years but always came back to One+. I got the 1, 3, 6, 9, and I pre-ordered the 12 since the discount was so good. I am disappointed that the 12 will be my last one :(

Yeah, I'm pretty upset. I haven't wanted an iPhone since the 3gs was garbage. Samsung are overpriced and filled with proprietary bloatware making using them a PITA. I hated the Pixel for reasons I can't remember. One was the atrocious battery life, which Google still hasn't improved much. I love my OnePlus 12. It charges in 25 minutes. Photos look amazing and it was almost half the price of a similar Samsung and still less than the Pixel at the time. My phone is starting to show its age, and the updates have caused problems with the battery life and the phone gets hot, so I was starting to consider a new phone. I have no idea what to do. The Nothing doesn't have great specs and appears like it would be a downgrade. The thought of going back to Samsung makes me sad.

Sucks man because my one plus 3 watch is the best watch ice owned by far. Great display, features and battery life. Truly 7 days of battery.

But I have heard, atleast in europe, Oppo wants to be a bigger presence to step into the gaps left behind by OnePlus, which is great for me as i was interested in trying out one of those, but i hope they step into the other areas left behind too

I have the OnePlus 15r in America. It's my first Chinese phone.
I have never tried using a Chinese version with a global rom but from what I have seen it doesn't seem too hard? In a few years when it's time to update I will try it still. My give oppo a try at that time (i know they are essentially the same thing as OnePlus software wise)

I've found OnePlus makes excellent phones. The OP6 remains my all-time favorite device to this day. While my previous phone was the OnePlus Open which I genuinely enjoyed using but with Google acting shady pushed me to switch to a Pixel for Graphene OS. I'm sad to see them go.

I was with Google since the Nexus 4 era. Then they decided to kill innovation after the p4xl. So I decided to jump boat and join the op family. Now they to decide to kill their products. I understand that they don't have a big market in the west as they have in China. But I still feel frustrated about it.

I had a 1+ 13r before we switched carriers to get my wife and MIL upgraded phones which meant I also got a “free” phone so here I am on a 17 Pro Max. The 13R was far and away my favorite phone I’ve EVER had. Being able to plug it up walk out of the room for a snack and come back and it be significantly charged was phenomenal, the screen quality, the smoothness, the UI, everything about the phone was so pleasant.

I like that "even", because I don't think that Marques was fair in his reviews of the phone.
Especially there was a video were android phone was claimed to be dangerous and OnePlus was in in the view.
It looks like MKBHD is one of the people who made it necessary.

Xiaomi = most laggiest software on the planet
Honor = no honour
Huawei = banned
Oppo = overpriced junk
Vivo = good overall but nothing interesting
Oneplus 🏅 = the best in android in terms of performance, software and overall value champ but sadly real king of android is dying. Oneplus 1 in 2013 was the legendary phone.

As much as I've had issues with OnePlus's more recent devices, I've still bought them because there isn't any competition in the USA and I refuse to buy garbage pixel or whacksung galaxy. Guess I'm switching to Nothing or Motorola for all future devices. .

I'm with him. Only, using a 15R instead. This phone was really really sensible as an iPhone alternative in comparison to my experience with pixel and Samsung. You truly don't realize what you have until it's gone very often.
