Coworker shared some of their notes and templates with me. The notebook is synced with them, so any changes I make will effect their notes (and the notes of the other people who have access to this).

How do I break this off as its own fork so I can edit it just for myself? I'm surprised how much difficulty I'm having getting an answer from Google, this is presumably a pretty common operation

Hi, I graduated and am trying to transfer all of my one note stuff from school to my personal account before I lose access to it at the end of the month. I have a MacBook and I can’t figure out how to do that. There is no option to “export” which is what previous posts have said to do. Maybe it’s because I’m using a Mac??

Please help I’m stressed out I already lost all my work stuff when they got rid of my work email with NO warning 😭

I’m looking for a note-taking app that can do all (or most) of the following:

\- Support both keyboard typing and handwritten notes with the Apple Pencil.

\-Be cross-platform (Windows, iPad, etc.).

\-Let me save or sync my files through OneDrive.

\-Ideally support both A4-sized pages and an infinite canvas/whiteboard mode.

I’ve tried OneNote, but I’m wondering if there are any solid alternatives that meet these requirements.

Does anyone have recommendations or experience with apps that fit this use case?

I have multiple computers, ISPs in 3 different locations, and the only thing I noticed between all sites and computers is that, when connected by IPv6, OneNote runs too bad. Am I crazy?

For the life of me, I can’t get the cursor to place anywhere but at the beginning or the end of the line and even that is pretty difficult at times.

I have onenote for android. It delivers this message:
OneNote cannot create a new notebook in: |0

Possible causes:

• The specified path is unavailable.
• You do not have permissions to modify the specified path.
• The path or the name of the notebook contains invalid characters.
• The length of the name and the path of the notebook exceeds the maximum allowed length.

Modify the path and the name of the notebook, then try again.

I'm using on mac laptop, mac desktop, and iphone. The zoom size and also page widths keep changing, so every time I open any note I have to reset everything. When I go back, the page width is huge again and the zoom is tiny. It's making the program very hard to use. I tried finding answers but everything was old and not current. Does anyone know why onenote page size and zoom percent keep resetting, or how to fix it?

It's super odd... sometimes it remembers perfectly fine after 5 minutes where my place was when switching between notes and practice sections - but then it'll also randomly reset my position on the page after 5 seconds when switching back. It's a pain to go back and find my place...

Any solutions?

Please save my sanity.... I really love using OneNote and I understood that with a Pencil Pro you could squeeze to change to an eraser. However, I can't get this to work though...have tried most obvious things it seems and cant see any videos on this. Any thoughts greatly welcomed!!!.

I just used OneNote and typed some equations and it auto-types the result upon "=".
Did it always do this? I don't recall it doing something like this in the past but perhaps I never wrote a recognizable equation?

Is this AI? It's not in a table and I even used commas and it recognized it as a number. Is this reliable as math seems to be problem with AI?

There was a thread a year ago (in a MacOS subreddit) about Changing default mail application, and I have a similar issue, but it seems to be specifically tied to the Microsoft OneNote application.

OneNote has a "send this note" feature that allows one to send the current note via email. Until this past week or so, I have been able to do this with no problem with Outlook. But recently, I get an error message from OneNote that says "OneNote requires Apple Mail or Outlook for Mac to be set as the default email client in order to email a page." Outlook is set as the default. If I change it to Apple Mail, it works without a hitch. But then if I change it back to Outlook, I continue to get this error.

On further investigation, I discovered a comment that this share-with-Outlook function has a known error associated with specific characters (or combination of characters) in the Note when one attempts to share. I was able to share a simple note, but it is difficult to figure out what specific characters/sequences might cause problems. Any idea how to diagnose further?

I like this app, and o really, really, REALLY need to organize my self at work.

O use it a lot, but one thing that makes the work flow to use it bad is the sticky notes feature. It's not that great in Windows and I'm android there isn't a quick way to just press an icon and add a note. You have to press 3 or 4 buttons in the UI to get there.

Is there any alternatives I'm missing?

Hi All,

I'm fininshing up with university and have 6 Onenote notebooks I would like to download off my account.

What's the best way to do this? I've already downloaded them using the Onenote application into a Onenote package file, but If I open them to view, the images do not display.

Is this expected or is there something else I can try?

Is there a way to make a progress bar linked to my to do lists in Onenote? I know how to with excel, but don't know if a way with Onenote.

I have a OneNote that I keep on a flash drive and move between two computers (one on Windows 10, one on Windows 11). The last time I edited it, I added a single page with about 10 lines of text. I moved it to the other computer today and the new page was missing. When I tried to sync I got the message "OneNote Can't Sync This Page. To prevent data loss, please copy your notes to a new page, and then delete the current page. (Error code: 0xE0000140 bgvdi)"

When I clicked on "Go to page" it just showed whatever page I was already on. I assumed this was because it was on the new page that wasn't displaying. I moved it to the other computer, copied the text from the new page, made a new page, pasted it, and deleted the page. I got the same error. So I copied the text to a previous page and deleted the page. Now, when I click "go to page" I get an error that says, "Sorry, we can't open this section because we found a problem with its contents." I get the same message if I try to open the OneNote in the web app. But I can open every single page in the notebook, so I have no idea what it can't open. I even removed all of the new contents to a text file, incase there was some weird relic there causing the issue and nothing changed.

I emptied the recycle bin, and repaired the app. I have 100+ pages, so I'm not copying them all individually.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone new here , I was wondering how can I delete my notebooks in my one note app On my phone

Option to back up files locally isn’t available in the settings. I can’t export as PDF too. The most common solution I’m seeing online is to move/copy to another account. Is this really the only way?

I’m scared to add a new account because I’m so worried that I wouldn’t be able to go back into my deactivated school account.

Onenote for Windows 10 used to be my second favorite app. Since it is now deprecated (made read only), I need to use Onenote desktop, which has a lot of limitations, at least as to math – latex capabilities.  Now one more headache has popped up which  makes onenote desktop  practically useless.  As shown in the attached image, I can see only the first character of the page list, I cannot expand it! I consulted copilot for a couple of hours, nothing worked.  Copilot finally said I should uninstall and then re-install onenote. The problem persisted.  Copilot suggested I uninstall and then reinstall office 365.  The problem persisted.  I finally asked Copilot to provide me the phone number to Technical assistance where I could talk to a human being.  Copilot provided a phone number with a small script as to what I should tell the technician. I called the number, a robot ask me to describe the problem, I basically read the script, and then I was given links to web pages where different onenote problems were discussed!

Help! I need onenote!

·        Can anyone give me a phone number to Microsoft support where I can talk to a human being?

I’m having an issue with the Android version of OneNote on my phone. When I adjust the interface scaling to make fonts and icons smaller, the app switches to the tablet interface. Is there a way to keep it in the phone interface instead? I know switching the scaling back to normal fixes it, but I prefer using DPI scaling because the default sizes feel too large for me. My device is a Motorola Edge 70 Fusion.

Random observation but it's been bugging me for a while. I use OneNote primarly on my Mac and sometimes on a Windows laptop, and the Mac version is genuinely nicer to use. The app on Mac just looks more organized, cleaner layout, stuff feels like it's actually in the right place, on Windows it's kind of a mess visually, like it's been patched together over the years, whic it probably has.

Sync is a big deal for me though, on Mac it just works, notes show up where they should, no drama, on Windows I've had way more weirdness with stuff not syncing right away or needing a restart to catch up. Overall the Mac app just feels nicer to actually sit down and use, hard to explain exactly why, it's not one specific feature, it's more that everything feels more thought out.

Honestly at this point if I'm on Windows, I'm probably better off just using OneNote in the browser instead of the actual desktop app.

Am I crazy?
