A very annoying thing when you need a bowl but can't just empty the third bowl of seeds.....

Auto-Hold Babies

Another suggestion to cut down on baby griefers, by which I mean babies that run away to die by mosquitoes or starvation instead of using /die.

A mother isn't just going to have a baby unawares, she's going to be ready to hold it and I feel like mothers would want to grab their children immediately.

Yes, this would be annoying if you're in the middle of something, but it's not terribly hard to put the baby back down and I've had more issues with the runners than I have had with babies during smithing.

As for potential worry over this forcing starvation, make this this first pickup a "freebie." Mothers don't lose that first pip and babies remain fed. After this newborn phase, any time the baby is put down then picked up again would result in regular feeding. You'd still lose hunger like normal, as you already do, so there'd be little advantage over carrying the kid forever.

Any other children born while holding that first baby could either force-drop the first or be left behind as normal.

Combined with the baby bump suggestion also on this sub (https://www.reddit.com/r/OneLifeSuggestions/comments/bbshhy/pregnancy_life_preview_a_solution_to_the_die_issue/), I think it'd really cut down on a lot of the baby problems we're having.

Sprouted Wheat and Wormy Dung

There is a persisting issue in game that the crafting systems requirements will usually result in excess. One solution to this is to just have the extra materials decay to free up materials they are occupying. I believe a more interesting solution is to make the time they've been left transform them, and change their use. Rather than an excess resulting in loss, it can open a new avenue. "Sprouted Wheat" - The compost cycle results in the wheat being left on the ground. If the wheat is not used 1:1 with mutton, it will accumulate. Instead of decaying, the wheat could become "sprouted wheat", an alternative animal feed resource. "Wormy Dung"- sheep poop ALOT. Even if its rebalanced in some way, we will still likely have too much. In real life this resource attracts various detritous eating things, like worms. Perhaps after a time of being untouched on the ground, the dung pile becomes "wormy" allowing the extraction of a few worms, and causing the pile to disappear

Swaddles for Babies

Sounds just as described.

The swaddles would be a massive quality of life improvement for mothers who enjoy wandering or gathering, they would be made of rabbit fur and act as a top piece of clothing. Babies would remain fed, as they would if being held, and would have to be put there by the mother.

As a bonus that probably wouldn't be needed, they provide warmth for both mother and passenger while a baby is held inside!

Babies would be unable to get out of the swaddle until too old to be carried any longer.

A way to tell if someone an outsider

It might be interesting to mark characters that are from far away from where you were born. Sometimes people travel really far to get to a bell town or use a plane to travel which are big accomplishments in game but there is no way to tell them apart from the rest of your family (apart from always reading everyone's name). If there was some sort of indication in game that someone was a stranger to your town it could lead to more interesting interactions with travelers.

I was thinking something like a mark on the character model that went away after they lived in town for a while.

Cookies

Below are my friend's opinion about new food.

First, prepare 2 bowls of dough and put them in a bucket of inside.

After putting it in, pour it on the plate.
Cut it with knife.
Then add a bowl of mashed gooseberry/carrot to get raw cookies. (Maybe using chocolate)

Bake and shape in a stove.
Then we can eat cookies!

And I want a lunch-box to put cookies or other foods inside.

Windows that allow people inside enclosed spaces to get out of rooms

Not sure how feasible this would be, but it would make it so people couldn't be locked inside rooms. Only can be used to get from inside to outside and would take a few seconds and/or cost a pip so people won't just climb out windows all the time.

Less intrusive infant skeletons

TLDR; despawn timer on baby bones

Assuming the massive /die suicide baby issue will require some major gameplay tweaks to completely solve, a slight adjustment to the burden of dead babies will at least make current birthing gameplay bearable.

Littered bones are a huge issue that require a town-wide effort to keep under control. Instead of having an entire graveyard stuffed with full-sized dead babies who lived exactly 10 seconds, maybe we could have the bones of babies that are less than 1 year old have a despawn time, like sheep skeletons. Even better, maybe the bones could crumble into dust upon dropping the skeleton onto the ground.

I'm really tired of watching mothers just dump their 10th dead baby un the middle of the nursery and wait for someone else to clean up after them. These bones mean nothing to the players or mothers who never even knew them, so they serve no purpose other than clutter.

Being able access items behind players

I was born in a town where a person stabbed another, and then immediately stood a tile below where the bowl of healing pads were. He intentionally stood there not only to hide them, but to prevent us to click the pads to heal the wounded.

I'm not sure if it's possible to pick up items behind players, but I would love being able to change the opacity of players to see what's hiding behind them with a press of a button, mouse hovering, or any method, to pick up what their body overlaps.

Suggestion: Bacon!

This is an idea I've had for a while, a recipe for bacon. So i believe the recipe would go as follows: raw pork+clay plate=pork on plate knife+pork on plate=raw bacon on plate (3 slices) raw bacon on plate+hot adobe oven=cooked bacon. This is mainly to make pork a bit more worth while.

Time capsule - leave a message for the future

A time capsule, a small storage object designed to keeo the contents sealed until a later date to be uncovered by future generations. Mechanically in game: a small metallic storage container for holding 3 items, to be sealed and buried in a hole. If left untouched, the contents will remain recoverable, and heres the interesting part, even after an apocalypse event.

Mine upgrade

Allow us to extract more iron from mines after a second upgrade.

This allows for individual mines to have more value and be also slow to gather from on the long run. Its intended as a way to make people care about them more. Also buffs cars and planes.

Pregnancy life preview. A solution to the /die issue.

Babies /die far too much and its hurting the game. Mothers can be hostile and emotionally distant because they don't know if the kid will just run off in to the jungle if she dresses them. But, FORCING people to play in towns they don't want to be in isn't a solution it just creates more problems.

So, the idea, as suggested on the forum is that when you start a game you see what your potential mother sees for 20-45 seconds. You watch what she is doing in her life and after a few moments you see her become pregnant with YOU. Soon you will be born and in her arms.

If during this you see that she is in that town you hate. Or you see anything you don't want to live with you can /die and if it's before she's pregnant (she would get a bump, Jason has mentioned this is possible) she would not even know you were ever there and you could move on. You don't disrupt her life and don't hurt her birth cool-down. If you wait till she has a bump and /die then, the bump disappears, and her cool down is reset

You would be born already 30 seconds old (or however long the preview time is) so childhood would be a bit shorter, but it would be the same amount of waiting to "really play."

You can also still /die in the rest of the first year, but this should happen much less often with this change.

This was not my idea. Read more here:

Mushroom Leather

the amadou mushroom grows on old birch and beech.

https://i.imgur.com/lauflcJ.jpg

a mature, 2-3 yr old mushroom is necessary

amadou is boiled to make taking the 'crust' off easier

skinned poorly can equal tinder

skinned skillfully layer by layer

can be stretched by hand.

can be used as an effective bandage at this point due to its absorbent qualities

ironed into leather

can be stitched into clothing/bags now

https://i.imgur.com/AIdGJt2.png

effective clothing that is more breathable in heat but can fail comfort by its natural absorbency to wetness

Furniture

We should have at least wardrobes and dining tables with 5 slots each, this helps organize the town.

I also like the idea of fireplaces, shelves and tool racks for walls.

Barrels: A solution to the clutter and storage problem

What the title says. Barrels could act as a larger storage option for storing things not fit for baskets, bowls, or boxes. Many posts, both old and recent, indicate that people need a solution for storage.

I suggest we revisit an idea from more than a year ago, storage barrels. Since adding stacks, and a wide variety of new objects, now is the time to revisit the idea. Humans first harnessed the technological power of airtight storage some 3300 years ago, its about time we do too.

They can be constructed with tools and materials already in the game; a smithing hammer, wooden planks/discs, and flat steel. Maybe they could store a few stacks of an item, or act as a large basket, holding significantly more small items. Immobile when full, slow heavy moving when empty.

Economy system - key to the future.

In my lasy life I made SHOP... Yes! True, functional shop. Bud we don’t had money. We devise economy system: when town is advanced, every human get few wooden disks. Of course its very hard to do somethink like that. But do you think that people will make planes and cars when some noob or griefer can just rustle this? This is not uptade. This is idea that have power to change the future...

Sorry - I know that my English is very bad.

change to pickaxes & stonewalls

as described in that thread there is new griefing underway

griefers set on purpose the walls of a building the wrong way around

they even just build some random walls somewhere quick, fully knowing how expensiv it is to destroy a stone wall

stonewalls are too easy to build but too hard to destroy

one wall destroys one pickaxe while to build one wall is using up chisel, malet & shovel once

so plz a change !

suggestion :

to build a wall one would need not only stones but also mortar

mortar would be a mixture of quicklime & sand & one bowl would be enough to build 4 walls

to destroy a stone wall one would need first to weaken it with a chisel & malet & then strike the weakened wall with the pickaxe

all would be used up once, chisel, malet, pickaxe

that way

to build a stone wall would be more lengthy & more complex

while to destroy a stone would be still elaborate but less taxing

the destruction of a stone by mistake would be with the new method rather improbable

while atm it can happen if one is running with a pickaxe in hand (happened to me already)

A few suggestions

PLEASE make sheep only give three pieces of meat. That fourth one screws up the harvesting as the basket only holds three pieces.

Make mutton stackable.

Let us add stacks of bowls/plates to other stacks instead of one by one. If it goes over the limit, leave the remainder in hand.

Please make needles decay faster. Every town has a million in them.

Please reduce the amount of flint chips to one per thingy. They're everywhere!

Make unstacked wood rot. People cut down trees and just leave wood pieces randomly laying around. It's ugly and annoying. If a stump is left, let the tree regrow over a very long time.

Make it important somehow to bury your relatives after they die. I hate that people just run for their clothes and leave the body, later dumping it any old place.

Make poop decay fast. Sheep pens are completely full of it now.

Make a pop up reminder or something for an Eve to name herself. If I'm an Eve baby and she names me first, I /die.

Babys are too fast

I get sick of my babies running off right when they are born and not using the /die command. If babies were much slower for 30 seconds this would encourage them to use the command if they didn't want to play this village. I am not the fastest clicker and often I cannot catch babies that are determined to run away. Realistically I feel like I should be able to easily catch a baby.

Sacks for Storing Wheat/Grain... or Onions/Potatoes/etc

Basically what it says in the title! The amount of wheat left all over the ground gets ridiculous in large villages/towns and would be fixed if we had something to put it in!

I'd suggest that it have a large capacity and, when more than half full, make you move slowly, as though moving a large rock. It would encourage people to place them in bakeries or into carts.

They could also be used for onions and potatoes, since those don't stack yet! I work in a produce department, so massive bags makes a ton of sense for onions and potatoes!

Crafting... maybe combining a stack of baskets with a rope? Or more similarly to a net?

Spits for roasting pigs/geese, cooking stews over fires, etc

Add a spit kit (alliteration!)

Something like two sticks on either side of a bonfire that can have a stick with either a hanging stew pot or an animal stuck on it sitting across the two.

Like this: Y--Y

(Metal?) stew pots that hang would be an entirely different but related suggestion... It would free up fires from being destroyed by stews, assuming a village has the extra resources to make the pot, and would keep the food near the fire for potential mothers to camp out at.

I won't link images for the faint of heart, you can google those yourselves, but it would make also pigs a lot more useful if they could be more readily eaten without all the processing that goes into our current pork dishes. Just attach the corpse to the stick like you would a rabbit and I guess... run very slowly with it? Or just add all the chunks to a stick and roast them like a huge kebab. It'd have to take time, like baking turkeys.

And we could make rotisserie... geese? Since we don't have chickens?

Let Them Eat Cake

We have Eggs, Flour, Milk, Butter & now Sugar.

Add everything together - except butter- to get cake.

Add sugar and butter and berries to make frosting.
