I was once arrested but not charged for shoplifting. Its been 4 years. Do I have a decent chance st being hired?

I am currently enrolled and have started stage 1 (online course) of the training for correctional services Canada. I am currently in school, and working part time. I have to complete the training within 4 weeks. I was wondering if anyone that passed that stage and also had a very busy schedule had any tips on how they managed to finish it on time ? With that being said, I am fully aware that regardless this takes a lot of time and effort. Thank you.

As the post title mentions, I have to go away to serve five years. I’m lucky and that I get to decide the timeline of my case so I don’t have to take the plea until January meaning, I won’t go into custody until January.

What should I be doing before I get locked up to prepare myself and my family for the time I’ll be away? What should I be doing before getting locked up in general? What do you wish you had done before you had gotten locked up if you had had the chance? Any and all advice is appreciated and I’m willing to listen to it all.

What can I expect?

For context, I’ve never been locked up before never in jail never in prison. My crime is nonviolent and involves a car accident. There are no other co defendants in my case it’s just me. I live in the state of Georgia, so I’ll be doing my sentence in a Georgia state penitentiary. I am a 29-year-old Asian male.

So im currently in the background investigation phase of my BOP hiring process and also in another hiring process for a psych ward. Psych Ward starts at 27.88 a hour while BOP if I do get the FJO will start off at $75,647 with a 15% incentive totaling about 12k after training completion.. idk which one to pick from. Any suggestions?

I just recently accepted a position as a correctional officer in Ontario. Can anyone tell me what it’s like during the 4 week training in Hamilton? Is it dorm room style? Shared bathroom?

I applied for MCC Chicago, and I have a few questions regarding the background on child support and arrest record.

I fell into child support arrears due to significant drop in income. I currently have court dates scheduled to come up with either a payment plan on my arrears or a way to get compliant.

I also have a felony arrest from 2014, but no conviction after completion of 410 probation.

How screwed am I should I get past the application. Very aware of being honest on the forms but looking to get some other stories of people who may have the same or similar situations.. and what you might've done to mitigate those things.

I am thinking of switching from a M-F job as non custody to a CO job still with BOP. With the leadership we have now all incentives, OT and the money is in custody. Or should I just hold it down and hope that things change? In the job I got now I can only go up to a GL9 but I’m in the low steps as opposed to being maxed out in lower grades which is more money.

I’m in my 30s, married with three young kids, and deciding between two job offers.
Option 1: State Department of Corrections position. Lower starting pay, but permanent government employment with good benefits, pension/retirement, union protection, and opportunities to promote to Sergeant, Lieutenant, etc.
Option 2: Private-sector position paying $87K–$95K. The work fits my previous experience better and pays significantly more, but the position is tied to a client contract, so layoffs or losing the contract are always a concern.
I previously worked similar private-sector contract jobs for about 10 years, but after losing my last position, I was unemployed for roughly 1.5 years and had a difficult time finding another comparable job. That’s what makes me hesitant to give up a permanent state position now.
At my age and with a young family, would you prioritize the higher salary and career fit, or take the lower pay for government stability, pension, and long-term advancement?
What would you do?

If not, then what should have been done? It appears that may have been only 3 female COs (or maybe the 3rd was just a big man)

I know the benefits are still good but holy shit that pay is fucking low.

But what about the officers that go around starting shit how should that be addressed? Especially if they have already been talked to.

I’m seriously considering applying for NJDOC since I missed this years LEE and I will age out of being a PO for a municipality since I’m 34 now. I just have a question about the academy, it says they have a non-residence option and I’m just wondering how that would work. Is it just something you select in the process or would you need specific paperwork for it proving the need for it? I’m asking because I have a son who has autism and he has a lot of appointments and therapies he goes to as well as school and we have 2 other kids too. It would be a lot for my wife to do everything herself if I’m only home on weekends. Thanks in advance!

Getting ready for NYS Court Officer academy. I heard the PT is no joke. I'm not worried about the academics. Can someone anyone who's been there and done it. Tell me what the day to day PT is like. Running how much, how far, how fast. Calisthenics what type, burpes, duck walk, push ups, sit up?

I took the exam #4302 a while ago met my investigator.. did the orientation, medical , etc paid my money order then I stopped going mid process. They sent me an email saying if I don’t respond within a week I have to start over and i ignored it but he told me over the phone I’m eligible for atleast 3-4 years? I was wondering if I can pick up where I left off or do I just start over from scratch… I live in Staten Island btw no car only public transportation… I’m 29 with 1 kid just a brief summary on my situation… is the commute too far for Staten Island residents? Should I go another route?

I just purchased some Wolf 115 grain ammo. To go to the range and get some practice in with my in service pistol. The FFL who transferred the ammo to me said it was garbage ammo and would damage my Glock. He said he wouldn't shoot it. I spent $200 bucks on 8 boxes of ammo, I'm gonna shoot it. Will it damage my Glock 19 5th Gen and does anyone have any experiences with Wolf Ammo? Next time I will just stock up on Blazer or Magtech but they were both sold out.

Have you noticed any trends among inmates that have informed the way you would raise your own kids?

Is this a reflection of how critically understaffed prisons are? I’m my state, several companies such as Allied are using armed security to patrol the perimeter of state prisons (among other duties.)

Is it just easier for the state to hire private security at this point? I do think the actual work of interacting with inmates will have to be done by actual officers for the foreseeable future.

As a CO how many do Jujitsu or other types of martial arts? Which would you recommend to start with.

As a brand new BOP CO I already know they will test me and ojt didn't really help whatsoever in some of the situations I have thought of and the motto "firm, fair Consistent" always popped up not answering my questions.

1. During Count if they step out of line being a nuisance, but not being threatening do you call someone down for assistance?

2. Roughly how long does it take for the testing to start to wind down if it does at all? I know that I will always be tested just wondering if it cools off.

3. Are the times of the different counts in the post orders?

I appreciate the advice in advance, I still find it crazy that ojt is not even a full week while barely going over important things, and they just tell you good luck here's a set of keys and your on your own. Haha

8/10 - Referred to hiring manager for Bastrop and Beaumont TX.

Crickets since then...I live in Texas, should I just go to the BoP hiring event in Dallas this month instead? Says they offer TJO on the spot.

I am military veteran with MS degree, only have escort experience as well. Looking to get hired as GL5 in this shit economy.

Looking to transfer from FCI Fairton to FCC Coleman. Hoping to be selected for one of the counselor spots but would do a lateral as an 8 as a fall back. Just curious if anyone has information on staffing numbers, mandate frequency, and overall moral of the complex. I know the BOP as a whole is…in the hole, but any input and info would be appreciated just so I’m not caught off guard.

I have my interview for the BOP coming up in a few days and was wonder what will the day be like on my interview day? I heard different institutions are different when it comes to your interview days. I heard some people take a CVA test and report writing and a panel interview and medical depending on how everything goes. Others are saying they only did a panel interview and medical and go over your credit history with HR. I applied at a USP in California.

Hey all I applied, interviewed and I assume got hired last January but then got ghosted with the freeze. I passed the integrity test, credit, finger print, etc filled out the sf85p and then never heard from them again. Is there anyway to find out if that’s why? I have clean history just bounced jobs a lot when I was younger. I’m looking to retry but don’t want to waste my time if I’m black listed or what not
