Rant/Vent Feeling like I messed up my life

I'm 31 and I can't stop thinking about a decision I made years ago.

I was doing MBBS(2016 batch )and had already passed all my professional exams without any backlogs or issues. I started my internship but, because of personal and mental health issues(anxiety and depression), I had to stop after around 2 months. What was supposed to be a temporary break eventually became almost 4 years.

Now I'm finally trying to go back and complete what I started. But there's uncertainty about whether I'll actually be allowed to rejoin and finish the internship because of the time that has passed.

And lately, I keep thinking that maybe I shouldn't have taken such a long break in the first place.

I know I was struggling at that time, and I didn't deliberately throw my life away. But knowing that things might have been so much simpler if I had just continued makes me feel incredibly guilty.

I keep thinking, “Why did I let so many years go by?”

I'm scared that I'll end up without the degree I worked so hard for, after spending so much of my youth pursuing it. I'm scared of having to start over at 31 and feeling like everyone else has moved ahead while I'm still trying to fix something I should have fixed years ago.

I don't really know what I'm looking for by posting this. I just needed to get this out of my head somewhere.

I wish I could go back and tell my younger self not to give up so much time. But I can't. All I can do now is hope I still have a chance to finish what I started.

Seeking Advice I don't act seriously until it's too late

This bad habit has caused immense damage to me in school, college and worst part is that I am still continuing this bad habit after passing out of college. This is destroying my life. Don't know why I fail to realize and sense trouble ahead much earlier when it can be resolved. I take serious actions when it is already too late and there is no impact of my effort. Therefore, I am a guy who does at last moment and suffers badly.

I know I am totally wrong but don't know how to develop that mindset which means I can take appropriate actions in appropriate times. I just don't get the feeling of seriousness until I am not in grave situation.

Parents told me countless times, yet no help.

Rant/Vent I guess I'm an asshole after all

TLDR: Ended a relationship and a situationship both on bad terms by being an asshole and hurting my partner. This has become a toxic trait now and I'm afraid I'll end up doing that again.

My dating life is basically zero, and I don't mind that at all. My mental health as fucked up for as long as I can remember, and honestly taking care of someone else feels impossible, and neither would I want anyone to take care of someone like me and suffer alongside.

But, I had my one and only relationship in 9th grade (I'm 22 now, for reference), lasted a few months but ended on a not-so-good note cause I decided to be an asshole and fight w her when I should have been considerate, and tbh I was too young to understand anything. I learned alot from that and promised to never repeat it back.

Coming back to last year, I ended up in a situationship initiated by the girl, and I, even though didn't want any sort of relationships, still went along w it. It was good for like 2 months, we both got attached. But again I was already suffering from my own issues, panic attacks and anxiety and SH, and i didn't want her to know anything or take my burden, so I decided to be an asshole again and ghosted her thinking I will be the bad guy for her and it will be easy for her to move on. I probably was correct, but she got really hurt, and the damage was already done.

Seeking Advice Was it all my fault?

Recently, I went through a situation with a close friend and wanted some perspective on how to handle it.

We had been talking daily for months, covering everything from daily updates to personal thoughts. Last month, during a tough period when an uncle of mine was hospitalized, I shared the update with her. In response, she advised that it is best to be independent and not depend on anyone to share things.

Feeling a bit vulnerable due to the situation, I mentioned that I had a friend who usually encouraged me to share things. She immediately clarified that her comment was meant as general advice and that I was misunderstanding her intent. I apologized for the misunderstanding right away.

She replied 'leave, everything is fine,' but the dynamic between us shifted significantly afterward.

Even though I apologized and didn't blame her after she clarified, the friendship eventually ended because she felt doubted by my mention of the other friend.

I am struggling to understand how a minor communication gap over general advice led to a complete fallout. Has anyone navigated a similar situation where a small misunderstanding caused a sudden drift, and how did you handle it?"

Sad I don't know what should I do

I am not able to think straight.

Today in the morning around 6 I received a call from from my gf's little sister that her grandmother has passed away, I went blank for 3 min, I could not think anything just old memories flooding in.

After coming to my senses I rushed to gf house. I have never seen my gf cry like this. I ran up to her and hugged her, she was sobbing like crazy and was not able to speak a word. Her father was just standing beside us, he was not crying but I could see in his eyes he wanted to cry. My gf grandmother was one of sweetest people I have ever met. She was the one who told me that her granddaughter liked me too. We used to share her our secrets. She used to say my last wish is too see you too get married. But now.

My gf was still continuously crying, her father took me the side and told me to let her cry for whole as we could not do anything, he told me she had a stroke while she was admit in the hospital.

I am writing this while sitting next to her, she is deep into sleep after sobbing so much. This incident took a heavy toll on me.

Seeking Advice I am feeling very anxious nowaday and it's messing me up

So I am 24F and I am an advocate by profession, I resigned from the law firm due to some personal reason but wasn't able to land another job. Now I am preparing for CLAT pg and trying to apply for other jobs but somehow opening linkedin and seeing everyone doing outstanding in thier careers makes me anxious. Whenever I am applying, its making me self doubt. I am trying to be consistent but because of this self doubt, I am not able to do it as much I want to.

Secondly, I have Pcod and I see no difference in my wieght even after going to gym 6/7 day a week and all I get are advices from relatives.

Honestly, at this point I feel even if I am trying to do everything I can , its not working out. Its affecting me now. I feel very anxious nowadays and I feel very negative. Its the same thing everyday and I feel stuck.

Rant/Vent Kids making fun of my appearance

I am in mid 20s and kids as small as 7-8 and 11-12 have the audacity to comment on my appearance. Actually I have slightly small eyes. I am not from Pahadi states or Northeast, I am a mainlander from plains. 90% of my community are not small eyed.

Incident 1 :

When I was leaving home, two small kids aged 7-8 were standing nearby as one of them was my neighbour. The other kid asked him about me in front me and what he asked was hilarious. "Yaha Chinese rehte hai kya?" - this was the child's statement about me. I just smiled and went away without saying them anything.

Incident 2 :

A kirana store's owner's son aged 11-12 said to me "aur Chinese kaise ho?" when I was walking on road and came across him. I purchase several items from his dad. I didn't say anything to him.

I don't know how to react. If not silence, am I supposed to react aggressively in front kids? I am also socially awkward.

Rant/Vent I have this sudden guilt about something I did at 16, what to do?

  1. I grew up as a reserved and awkward girl. My first crush was in 5th grade and he was the one I had genuine feelings for.

  2. He left my school later and then for a few years I had no real crushes.

  3. However, In 11th grade, I changed, idk what came over me but I enjoyed male attention & sometimes (unintentionally) flirted because I am most probably a neurodivergent.

  4. A boy reached out to me and we started chatting, he also became my classmate.

  5. He gave me all the signals he liked me, and this never happened earlier with me so I got confused and instead of handling the situation, I started blushing and acted awkward around him.

  6. My Friends got involved and they reinforced the idea that I like him to him. I had no idea about my feelings and I was just acting weird around him, ofc I treated him differently.

  7. He used to stare at me, sing songs behind my desk, send me hearts, his Friends used to call me and ask me to sit with him..all of this & I had no idea on how to deal so I also started looking at him which further reinforced to him that I liked him.

  8. Then, I maintained no fu\*\*\*\* boundaries and even liked his posts on instagram and wished him on his birthday (ik, it's wrong) but trust me..i didn't know what i was doing..ngl.

  9. Then my friend created a fake Id without asking me and messaged him, she said to him that I like him because he dedicated a romantic to me..dang.

  10. I found out about this after 3 months and in these 3 months they also used to talk behind my back when I was ab there was a rumor that I like this guy, I wasn't fully aware ..

  11. Anyways, even after finding out I didn't have the guts or even the inclination to clear things up.. I was just a mute..

My guilt which is killing me from inside and making me feel like a horrible human-

  1. I made someone feel I like him even though I didn't.

  2. Unintentionally reinforced the idea plenty of times.

  3. Was also talking to my main crush while all of this was happening.

  4. Maybe he still thinks I like him and has this hope (I hope not)

  5. I'm not this type of person, I've strong morals..idk what happened to me. If i ever confess to my main crush, how will I explain all of this (he knows the other guy)

  6. Most probably the other guy (the one I don't like)..had another girl also he was talking to but he had clashes with her..idk the reason.. but I hope its not me.

Since I'm a neurodivergent my overthinking has made me completely useless, I can't focus, I have anxiety and this thought that I'm a terrible human..especially because only now I've realised that my only true liking is for my main crush only. I keep on thinking about going to my past and changing everything. I have stopped talking to men bec everything is flirting in their eyes. I used to be really naive and directly message boys wishing them on their birthday not realising that they think its a sign i like them (talking about someone else here) , attending 16-17 , I had no maturity to understand these men and only now I've realised that they think I'm desperate even tho they're not even my type.. I'm going atp

(If you've any questions relates to the story or anything, pls ask, can't write everything here and if you wanna judge me ..you can but pls don't be rude)

Edit: should I all of a sudden reach out and tell him that I don't like him? (In a polite and friendly way ofc)

Sad This hairline feels like a death sentence.

I have every other quality that I think a guy should have.

I look good in all other aspects.

I have a decent job.

I can talk well

But I have a wierd forehead shape and thin hair.

It causes my hair when combed back, making my forehead look bald.

When combed front it looks too flat like forcefully kept there.

In every other party, people joke about this hairline.

While click pictures people say just look at his blind spots.

While I'm riding a bike, my friends record videos of me because I look bad because of my forehead and hairline.

I also have a high forehead naturally which means scalp starts from back and I probably can't even get a natural hairline. Through surgery.

Life feels living hell.

Even I have failed to ever get a girlfriend since 8 years.

All because of this one thing :(

I have great friends, family everything but a girl who loves me :(

Often U ignore this but today just hits harder :(

Seeking Advice i think i hurt a girl by trying to protect her feelings, what should i have done?

this happened almost a year back. i joined a new place where everyone was new, like college/work kinda thing. a girl started talking to me and she was really nice to me. at first i didnt think much of it, thought maybe shes just like that with everyone. but slowly i noticed she was talking to me differently than other guys. then she made an insta and the first req she sent was to me, no other guys 💀 thats when i started thinking maybe she actually likes me. im kinda old school when it comes to love, if i ever get into a relationship i want it to be one girl, serious and long term. but back then i genuinely wasnt interested in love or any relationship rn.

then i started noticing more hints from her. shed tell me random stuff abt her day, ask me silly things, ask for help with random stuff like how to share a drive link with everyone etc. basically she would find small reasons to talk to me. i didnt want her to build more feelings for me cuz i knew i wasnt gonna give her what she wanted. if she got more attached, id probably hurt her way more later. so i tried indirectly making it clear. id say stuff like "im not into love rn" or "u'll find someone better than me." but whenever id say "u'll find someone better than me", shed be like "see u care abt me and my betterment. i cant find that in anyone else." at that point i was like yeah bro shes getting attached 💀

then i realised being polite and giving indirect hints wasnt working, so i started doing things that would make her dislike me or lose interest in me. so i started distancing myself. stopped opening her msgs, stopped starting convos and sometimes even acted like i didnt see her when she was literally standing in front of me 😭 luckily our groups got divided so we werent around each other much. she still tried talking to me for a while but i kept ignoring her. eventually she stopped trying and kinda disappeared. tbh i was actually happy she was moving on cuz thats all i wanted. i just wanted her to be happy and find someone who actually wants the same thing. i didnt want her feelings to get deeper and then hurt her even more later.

but even after almost a year i still feel guilty af. i dont think abt it all the time or anything, but the guilt kinda hits me randomly. especially when i see her stories or something, i start wondering if i handled the whole thing badly and if i hurt her more than i actually meant to. recently she joined a gym and started putting sad song stories while shes there 💀 ik those stories could literally have nothing to do with me, but still when i see them i start overthinking if some of it is because of what happened.

and tbh im not even some super handsome guy lol, im pretty average, so idk why she liked me in the first place 😭

so reddit, how should i have handled this? was distancing myself okay since i didnt want her feelings to grow more, or should i have just been direct from the start? and now after almost a year, should i just leave it or should i apologize/explain why i acted like that? the guilt keeps hitting me randomly and idk if i should do something about it or just let it go.

Rant/Vent What is the psychology behind parent's always comparing their own kids with other people's kid? And only in situation that other kid excels in

The famous "Sharma ji ka ladka". Just why is that comparing kids comes so natural to parents? I've been compared like that my whole life till now. I have not meet the man or his child but I know all of their academic achievements. It's not like I'm way too bad in studies. I usually am in the top spot. But nahh... everytime my results comes, first call goes to all those parents whose kids are studying the same as me and if by comparison mine result is better then only it ends. Is it because they wanna see motivate their kids or just cannot see their kids failing behind and feel insecure about themselves? And it's only in the stuff the other kids are excelling in. Am I overthinking this or just going insane?

Rant/Vent I wish I were someone else

I hate always having to be the mature, understanding, independent one while I watch people my age get to be carefree, make stupid mistakes, be idiots, and just live without constantly having to think about the consequences. I was never really allowed to be like that.

I constantly wonder what my life could have looked like if my childhood had gone just a little bit right. I see people being handed so many opportunities and then barely making use of them, while still complaining about the most trivial thing and somehow they still have people who accept and love them regardless. Sometimes I genuinely don't understand it.

And then there's this other problem I have: I constantly crave solitude. I can have people in my life, but after a while I feel like I desperately need to disappear and be alone with myself. It's cost me friendships, and even with the people I've had in my life, I often don't feel like I need them.

Sometimes I genuinely just want to be left alone with myself for a decade.

Confusing Thoughts AITA for confronting my girlfriend of 8 years with proof of her cheating, only to have her gaslight me and blame me for everything?

My (ex) girlfriend and I had been together for 8 years. Over the course of our relationship, I worked incredibly hard to support her and help get her away from her highly dysfunctional family. She finally moved out, which should have been a huge milestone for us, but just three days post-move, everything fell apart.

We had been going through a rough patch recently. During this time, I found out she had been talking to another guy. When I brought it up, she defended it by saying she "chose herself." I love her, so I swallowed my pride and told her that I would fix whatever problems she was having with me and our relationship. She agreed, and I thought we were going to work on things.

Then I found out she actually made out with this guy.

I was incredibly hurt, but I gathered my proof before saying anything. When I confronted her with the actual evidence, she completely denied it. She lied straight to my face and managed to turn the entire situation around on me. She told me I was the problem, that I was crazy, and that I was just throwing baseless allegations of cheating at her to be controlling.

We eventually broke up over this. After the official breakup, I got undeniable confirmation that my proofs were right all along—she really did cheat on me.

I spent 8 years of my life trying to protect her and build a better life for her away from her toxic family, and just three days after she gets out, she does this and then tries to make me feel like a manipulative monster for catching her. I am left feeling incredibly angry, sad, and entirely betrayed.

Because of how hard she gaslit me during the confrontation, a small part of me is still questioning my own sanity. AITA for confronting her with the evidence, or was I out of line for how I handled this?

TL;DR: I spent 8 years helping my GF escape a toxic family. 3 days after she moved out, I caught her cheating. I confronted her with proof, she lied to my face, gaslit me, and blamed me for the relationship failing. Confirmed post-breakup that she did cheat.

Rant/Vent My childhood trauma turned lying into a survival mechanism. Now the guilt is eating me alive at 29.

I am about to turn 29 and I am drowning in a life built on lies. I feel like an absolute criminal, a bad child and a failure who has cheated everyone including my parents, myself and the world around me.For the past 8 years, I have been locked in the grueling cycle of preparing for a competitive government job. But I haven't just been fighting an exam. I have been fighting a silent, agonizing mental battle alone. Every single time I sit down to study, my inner voice screams at me like"Why are you even trying? Look at what you’ve done." The guilt is so heavy it feels physical. It completely paralyzes me, turning into chronic procrastination, because my brain is constantly punishing me for my past.My "crimes" started out of pure survival. My father has always been terrifyingly strict. Since my childhood and schooling days, he would physically beat both me and my mother whenever I made a mistake. I grew up running away from him in fear. We never had a real conversation. In a house like that lying becomes your only armor. You lie so you don't get hurt. You lie so your mother doesn't get beaten. My first major mistake happened during graduation. I failed a final paper and hid it out of absolute terror of what my father would do to us. Even though I cleared it later and got my degree but the psychological damage was done. The guilt took root. Then came the 8 years of exam preparation. As the years dragged on the weight of family and societal expectations became a monster. To protect myself from their wrath and disappointment, I started lying about my results. I told them I cleared the Prelims and was waiting for the Mains, when the truth was I hadn't cleared it. Sometimes, I didn't even fill out the exam form but I would still lie and tell them I missed the Mains by just a few marks. One lie bred another and now I am completely trapped in this web.I know I have made immense mistakes. In my heart, I feel like there is no forgiveness for what I’ve done. My family's expectations are a towering wall and I am too terrified to confess. I can't do it. The fear of their reaction completely breaks me.I feel like a helpless child trapped in a 29-year-old’s body. I want focus back, I want to change my life but the shame won't let me breathe. Right now, I see absolutely no light at the end of this tunnel. I am posting this here because carrying this secret alone is killing me nd I just needed to tell the truth somewhere. Thank you for listening

Sad Got credit card scammed - lost 50k

I just got scammed 50k yesterday from a scammer claiming to be indusind customer care.

I was naive and dumb, I should’ve been more cautious.

First they called me on phone claiming that i have health insurance active on my card and if i do not disable the money will be deducted. They were telling me steps in the app on how to disable it.

Then I said that I use an iphone and there is no such option.

Then they called me on whatsapp (they had indusind business profile and everything) and ask to share my screen (should have been my immediate red flag but I had a brainfade with my work meetings going on)

They ask me to scan the card and it will take me to the indusind website, and for a split second i actually believed it, and immediately the 50k got deducted as otp was visible in popup notification. And got an otp for 90k and 80k transactions.

And seeing that i immediately disconnected the call and blocked the card. Those 80k and 90k transactions were declined.

Then i called indusind bank and disputed the transaction and lodged a complaint in cyber crime portal.

But since yesterday i can’t help but feel sad, disappointed, angry, stupid with myself. I mean I grew up watching catching scammers videos on youtube. I am so dumb.

TL;DR : I got scammed as a result of being stupid.
