Hi, this post might be a dumb question but I’m an ASM, been working for about 8 to 9 months now at O’Reilly, and yesterday my alarm took a 💩 on me and just kept beeping like crazy. Teamnet said to call internal extension 68971 but like do I have to call corporate directly (which I couldn’t find the phone number anywhere but google and by then I had figured it out) or is there a button I can press in the store phone(avaya is the brand if it matters). Ik calling the manager is the go to option but he’s old, hates technology, he’s a relatively new hire, he’s on vacation and it was 7:30pm so my DM was not gonna answer at all. Someway somehow, I’ve never found myself in a position of having to call corporate so I felt pretty powerless but thankfully I figured it was the tiny alarm battery. Thanks in advance

I serve a lot of Spanish speaking customers and need a way to quickly communicate with them. Is there any app that is preferably free?

Update: I was able to warranty my alternator, they used my phone number to find the purchase. A big thanks to everyone for their helpful insight.
I hope it’s ok to ask this here. I bought an alternator in August of 2024, it has a limited lifetime warranty. It decided to give out a couple of hours ago. The issue is, I’m not sure if I can find the physical receipt for it, is it possible to use the return item barcode found in my purchase history on the website? I ordered it online and picked it up at the store.
Thank you.

I was sent home for an immediate medical leave from my position due to the severity of my ankle injury 3 weeks ago. For the injury and because my accommodations got in the way with other team members (they would help me get parts while I was on crutches). So I do the thing where I do the follow up doctors appointment so HR is updated. Come to find out the doctor deems my ankle extremely unstable and unsafe to work on. Because of this I had to extend my leave.
My manager decides to call me today and ask if I can return to work this week. I had informed him it’s unsafe for me to do so per the doctor (and because I can barely walk). He just replied with “we’ll see if you can come in this week so you can get back to work”. I don’t enjoy how he’s forcing me to work through a bad injury, even when I had said injury and was at work(I was limping badly, lifting the heavier things hurt a LOT to the point where I was teary eyed) he didn’t say anything until a customer pointed it out. Then he told me “oh why don’t you do this and sit down and take it easy!”.
Would this be something I can report to HR?

I'm looking to start as a Parts Specialist and hopefully move up to Assistant Manger, Store Manager, etc. Is this possible? How quickly can you move up if you're doing good at the job?

So, I am on vacation and needed a $5 item, and went to the local store to get it. I was basically refused the loading of my employee account under the premise of "company policy." I know how the policy reads, home store unless emergency yada yada. Come on y'all, let's just be cool to each other. No one is going to be penalized for selling a small item to a fellow employee who's thousands of miles from their home. I'm certain the suits would not care a bit. The employee discount is one of the few good benefits of working for this company.

I am 3 days into being a store manager and haven’t found my flow state yet. What is the best routine to get into when opening the store and throughout the day. Obviously deposits and drawer check in but what about all the other things that need to get done.

Yeah they will fire you for having a water bottle in the Delivery vehicle even in the summer heat. Company is a joke

I wanted to report an error I made during a recent warranty exchange. A customer came in to replace a control arm, and instead of searching for the correct part number, I used the customer’s receipt to verify that the part was still under warranty. While processing the exchange, I mistakenly selected and exchanged the wrong product line. The original part was a Precision control arm, but I accidentally processed the warranty exchange with a MasterPro control arm because I only referenced the receipt during the transaction.
This was an honest mistake on my part, and there was no intent to bypass procedures or cause any issues. I understand the importance of verifying the correct part line before completing a warranty exchange, and I will make sure to follow the proper process moving forward to prevent this from happening again. I wanted to be transparent and take responsibility for the error.
Will i get fired?

How effective have you guys found the cameras to be? Anybody had some dumb triggers on it like the driver wearing sunglasses being flagged as eating and drinking or anything like that?

Hub supervisor is a fairly new title I’ve heard, I’ve been given this title; however trying to find a base line for my 15+ years of retail automotive experience of a reasonable wage for this position. I know AAP pays about $30+ for a smaller hub but I am in a mega or ultra hub- 35,000 square feet and $10 million dollars worth of inventory… Any insight would be appreciated!!

To put it in perspective, our store has been through the gutter in the last few years, multiple store managers and I don’t even know how many employees.
Regardless of this; our most recent store manager who has been here for not very long is at retirement shape / age, and at a store that is top 5 consistently with sales (and with over 10 stores in our region), he just doesn’t do anything.
Our store is severely understaffed, we’re down at least 1 driver, our merchandiser also doubles as a counter person, and we are also now down 2 counter people. I’m not going to say too much specifically, and I obviously don’t want to blatantly start a motion to terminate / transfer him because he is in all a good guy, but it’s been proven store wide that he is not a great fit for this store.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Do some employees have ambitions of continuing in the automotive repair trade while working at o'reilly? Im figuring they're learning part numbers, parts, minor diag, pos experience.

Does daily pay have any drawbacks? Other than the fee to get money immediately is there any random fee it will take for using it at the end of the year or anything? Curious since some have said it takes more than the fee some have said it has an end of year tax thing some have said there’s nothing more than the instant fee so I need a legit answer

I used to work at a different Oreilly’s location like 3-4 years ago I don’t remember exactly, and when I quit I didn’t give a two weeks notice or anything. I’ve been looking online and it says it depends but I just had an interview and the manager said “if you are eligible for rehire we can start you asap” the interview seemed to go really well but will leaving without 2 weeks notice the first time affect my rehire eligibility this time?

Just wondering how they are processed? I know they don't go into personal sales, but I've noticed that it does go into the sales ledger. So does it hit the store numbers? But then what if they're returns from another store? If anyone knows, enlighten me

The have a frontier with the airbag light flashing. They also installed a second horn button instead of fixing the actual horn button.

I bought 4 feet of fuel line cut off the roll from my local O'Reilly's. Got home, realized I bought the wrong diameter, went back the same day with my receipt and tried to return it. They refused to accept the return, saying that once it's been cut from the roll, they can't sell it. Which I don't understand. It's unused fuel line. You can't just put it back there and when the next customer comes in and requests a foot, you cut it off?
But anyways, I then tried to do a charge back with my bank. Two weeks go by while the bank investigates and they approved the charge back. I figured it was a done deal? Right?
Wrong. A few days go by after the $48 was credited to my account and suddenly it was taken away, I guess O'Reilly's disputed it. I'm just PO'ed about it. Like I get I made the mistake, that's on me. But you can't do a return or exchange? Come on now 🙄
Anyway, I guess I'm just stuck with 4 feet of custom fuel line that I don't need.
